Coming off another strong quarter, Salesforce has no “Near-term” plans for large acquisition deals, according to co-CEOs Marc Benioff and Bret Taylor.

Benioff reiterated that message, calling Slack the “Most strategic initiative in the company,” and one that is going to take quite some time for the company to digest.

That doesn’t rule out all M&A in the future, as Benioff also said the company “Continues to look at tactical M&A.” SaaS startups looking at lower post-pandemic valuations might still want to give Salesforce a call.

March 1 – Salesforce.com Inc on Tuesday reported quarterly revenue and profit above Wall Street estimates, as a pandemic-led shift to hybrid work kept up the strong demand for its cloud-based software, sending its shares up 4% in extended trading.

San Francisco, California-based Salesforce’s subscription and support revenue for the fourth quarter rose 24.7% to $6.83 billion.

For 2023, Salesforce expects revenue of $32 billion to $32.1 billion, above expectation of $31.78 billion.

The company’s revenue rose 26% to $7.33 billion in the quarter, beating analysts‘ estimate of $7.24 billion, according to IBES data from Refinitiv.

On an adjusted basis, Salesforce earned 84 cents per share, topping estimates of 74 cents.

The company also forecast first-quarter revenue to be between $7.37 billion and $7.38 billion.

Analysts on average expect it to be $7.26 billion.

Cargo cannot be loaded directly into the tank, as the presence of oxygen would create an explosive atmospheric condition within the tank, and the rapid temperature change caused by loading LNG at −162 °C could damage the tanks.

LNG is sprayed into the tanks via spray heads, which vaporises and starts to cool the tank.

Once the tanks reach about −140 °C the tanks are ready to bulk load. Bulk loading starts and liquid LNG is pumped from the storage tanks ashore into the vessel tanks.

Type B tanks limit sloshing problems, an improvement over Membrane LNG carrier tanks which may break due to sloshing impact, therefore destroying the ship’s hull.

The tanks on board an LNG carrier effectively function as giant thermoses to keep the liquid gas cold during storage.

This drops to 1.7 kn for a fully loaded 300,000 dwt oil tanker collision into an LNG carrier.

Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry is leading a coalition of 25 states in opposition to a proposed federal rule to ban natural gas transport by rail car, arguing the decision drives up energy costs and threatens national security.

Landry wrote a letter to Tristan Brown, acting administrator of the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, targeting a rule proposed by the Biden administration in November that would suspend authorization to transport liquefied natural gas by rail tank cars.

The Biden administration’s focus on greenhouse gas emissions also “Is an attenuated and speculative concern untethered to the scope of PHMSA’s regulatory purpose,” the letter read. The letter argued the Russian invasion of Ukraine demonstrates why it is important for the U.S. to maintain energy independence.

The attorneys general cite the country’s reliance on natural gas, which currently generates 41% of electricity in the U.S., as well as figures that show significant decreases in greenhouse gas emissions in recent years.

The proposed rule to halt LNG by rail stems from Biden’s Executive Order 13990, directing federal agencies to review Trump administration era rules to suspend or rescind over conflicts with the new administration’s focus on environmental justice and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Attorneys general likened PHMSA’s proposed rule to similar executive actions to halt new oil and gas leases that are hurting Louisiana and other states, and argued the PHMSA ignored evidence of LNG by rail’s positive impacts on the environment.
