Cleveland-Cliffs Inc., a Cleveland-based iron ore and steel company that recently swelled in size by buying AK Steel for $1.1 billion, has reached an agreement with Luxembourg-based multinational steel giant ArcelorMittal to acquire its U.S. assets, including its Northwest Indiana steel mills, for $1.4 billion in stock and cash.

ArcelorMittal USA employs about 10,000 steelworkers in Northern Indiana.

The blockbuster deal includes several steel mills: ArcelorMittal Indiana Harbor in East Chicago; ArcelorMittal Burns Harbor in Porter County; ArcelorMittal Riverdale in Illinois; and the Gary Plate finishing facility located inside U.S. Steel’s Gary Works steel mill.

ArcelorMittal USA pulled in $10.4 billion in revenue over the past two years, including $700 million in earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, or EBITDA. Honda has announced an alliance with Sony to design, build, and sell new EV models.

In the meantime, the Japanese automaker is partnering with Sony to develop electric cars under a separate brand.

Sony has long expressed interest in building an electric car, and has developed a couple of prototypes in recent years.

The Vision-S 02 came with an announcement from Sony that it planned to create a new mobility company this year.

Sony making an EV is a pretty wild development in itself, but what’s even more intriguing is the firm appears set to bring PlayStation gaming inside the cars.

On its Vision-S press site, Sony writes: “The center display and passenger display remotely connect to a game console at home or to a cloud network via 5G. You can play popular PlayStation games with high-quality visuals on the large screen, while waiting in the car when charging or parked.”

Interestingly, Sony’s current messaging around gaming in its two Vision-S concept EVs are focused around the PS4’s Dualshock 4 controller, rather than the DualSense controller which comes with the PS5. Sony unveiled its first EV concept – the Vision-S 01 – in January 2020, which was before the PS5 was announced later in the same year.

Sony Wants To Revolutionize Its E-Cars With Built-In Playstation Games

A Sony executive recently told Reuters that the company’s mobility division, launched about two years ago, aims to turn cars into “Entertainment spaces.” To achieve this goal, the PlayStation maker says it’s currently looking for more cooperation partners.

Sony unveiled its first four-wheeled car, which is a near-production prototype, at Consumer Electronics Show 2020 in Las Vegas.

The infotainment functions from Sony can be operated either via several touchscreens or via gesture or voice control.

At CES 2022, Sony made it clear that the group is serious about its car plans.

On the technical side Sony has brought even more partner companies on board for its project.

In the future, Sony may also collaborate with Chinese companies in the field.

Izumi Kawanishi, who will head the electronics company’s automotive division, told Reuters that Sony selects its potential partners based on their technological expertise rather than nationality.

This Is Sony’S PlayStation VR2 Headset

Sony has finally given us our first look at the PlayStation VR2 along with more detailed shots of the Sense 2 controllers.

The headset looks similar to the previous model but adds some noteworthy enhancements, including a lens adjustment dial and a new vent design.

Aesthetically, the PSVR2 matches the Sense controller with an “Orb” shape meant to represent the 360-degree view players get when they experience VR. PlayStation Senior Vice President Hideaki Nishino wrote in a blog post that the design is meant to match the PS5 and its accessories; the original headset already sported a black-and-white color scheme but this new one has smoother curves and goes all-white for the front cover.

“Our goal is to create a headset that will not only become an attractive part of your living room decor, but will also keep you immersed in your game world, to the point where you almost forget you are using a headset or controller,” Nishino wrote.

“That’s why we paid very close attention to the ergonomics of the headset and conducted extensive testing to ensure a comfortable feel for a variety of head sizes.”

The headset is also slimmer than the previous one and weighs slightly less, which should improve comfort.

There is also a new vent design meant to improve airflow and keep the headset cool when you’re gaming for hours on end.
