Carl Icahn Exits Occidental Petroleum After Nearly Three Years

Carl Icahn exited a big bet on Occidental Petroleum Corp. , selling the last of what was once a roughly 10% stake in the oil-and-gas producer as its shares surge.

Mr. Icahn, who had been cutting the position, in recent days sold the remainder of it, according to a letter he sent to Occidental’s board Sunday.

The move brings to a close one of Mr. Icahn’s most dramatic recent clashes, which began when he criticized Occidental for outbidding larger rival Chevron Corp. to strike a $38 billion deal to buy Anadarko Petroleum Corp. in May 2019.

Warren Buffett’S Berkshire Hathaway Has $5 Billion Stake In Occidental Petroleum

Berkshire Hathaway owns a 9.8% stake in Occidental Petroleum worth $5.1 billion after furious buying activity in shares of the big energy company this past week.

Berkshire Hathaway disclosed late Friday in a form 4 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission that it held 91.2 million shares of Occidental Petroleum, up from 29.8 million shares on Tuesday, which was disclosed in a separate 13-G SEC filing on Friday.

Berkshire bought 34 million shares of Occidental on Friday at prices ranging from $48 to $56 as volume spiked to 100 million shares, against more recent daily volume in the 15 to 20 million share range.

The purchases were probably made in large part by CEO Warren Buffett who oversees Berkshire’s $350 billion equity portfolio.

Berkshire already owns $10 billion of 8% preferred stock and about 84 million warrants to purchase Occidental stock at $59.62 a share.

Once Berkshire hit the 10% stake in Occidental on Tuesday, subsequent changes in its holdings had to be reported promptly.

Berkshire bought the Occidental preferred in 2019, when Occidental CEO Vicki Holub wanted to quickly arrange financing to win a bidding war for Anadarko Petroleum against the deeper-pocketed Chevron.

Warren Buffett’S Berkshire Hathaway Reveals A $5.1 Billion Stake In Occidental Petroleum

Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway has amassed more than 91 million shares of Occidental Petroleum – an almost 10% stake worth about $5.1 billion as of Friday’s close.

The famed investor’s company, which didn’t hold any common shares of the energy group at the end of December, disclosed it owned 29.8 million of them as of March 1 in a regulatory filing this week.

Berkshire already owns 100,000 preferred shares in Occidental, reflecting a $10 billion investment in the oil-and-gas company to help fund its takeover of Anadarko Petroleum in 2019.

If Occidental’s stock price rises above the exercise price, Berkshire can use its warrants to purchase shares at a discount, then sell them at the market price and make a profit.

If Berkshire hangs on to its newly purchased stock until it exercises its warrants, and doesn’t sell the resulting shares either, it would have 175 million common shares – worth over $10 billion at the exercise price.

Occidental shares have rallied to a two-year high as well.

Buffett and his team, who are looking to deploy around $80 billion of cash, clearly determined the stock was undervalued and poised to benefit from rising energy prices, and decided to buy some shares.

Billionaire Investor Carl Icahn Says Russia’S Invasion Of Ukraine Isn’T As Big A Deal For Markets As Inflation

The biggest headache for financial markets right now isn’t the Russia-Ukraine conflict – it’s inflation, according to activist investor Carl Icahn.

Global stocks have swung wildly since Russia invaded Ukraine on Thursday, as developments around the conflict triggered shifts in mood.

Measures meant to cut Russia off from the global financial system could halt funds to its oil exporters, which could then feed through into higher energy prices for consumers.

He suggested they won’t blow up markets – inflation will.

The activist investor recently called out “Terrible CEOs” in the US for driving economic problems like the widening wealth gap and high inflation.

Warren Buffett, Elon Musk, Michael Burry, and Paul Tudor Jones are among other business leaders who have issued inflation warnings.

Icahn said he didn’t want to be a markets alarmist since no one can predict when exactly a huge sell-off might take place, but warned the current environment is building towards such a scenario.

Legendary Investor Carl Icahn Dishes On McDonald’S, Wall Street And His New HBO Doc

It’s a week after his 86th birthday and billionaire investor Carl Icahn is back doing what he does best: launching a proxy fight.

If you want to hear more of Carl Icahn on his soapbox reflecting on his infamous deals, as well as some priceless behind-the-scenes Icahn at home footage, then the hour and forty-one minute HBO documentary is a must watch.

All of this is part of the intrigue of the man that has railed against corporate America since the 1970s and created a phenomenon known as “The Icahn Lift.” It is these antics that HBO director Bruce David Klein says drew him to Icahn in the first place.

In 2020, the fund underperformed, down 14% while the market returned 18%, and in 2019 clocked down 15%. Due to recent losses, the fund’s average annual return since inception in 2004 has fallen to 3.8%, versus 10% for the S&P. Ram Air Turbine

Our ram air turbine is at the heart of an aircraft’s emergency power system.

They are responsible for saving approximately 1,700 lives in 16 documented events.

If an airplane were to lose power, the RAT would deploy from the airplane’s wing or fuselage and rotates to extract sufficient power from the airstream to control and land the aircraft.

RATs are designed to be small and have a self-governing device that limits the turbine’s speed.

Collins Aerospace designs and manufactures hydraulic, electric and hybrid RATs..

Ram Air Turbine

A ram air turbine is a small wind turbine that is connected to a hydraulic pump, or electrical generator, installed in an aircraft and used as a power source.

The RAT generates power from the airstream by ram pressure due to the speed of the aircraft.

In case of the loss of both primary and auxiliary power sources the RAT will power vital systems.

Some RATs produce only hydraulic power, which is in turn used to power electrical generators.

Modern aircraft generate power in the main engines or an additional fuel-burning turbine engine called an auxiliary power unit, which is often mounted in the rear of the fuselage or in the main-wheel well.

The individual package units of the VC10 were each powered electrically and so emergency redundancy for the VC10 relied on quadruple generators and a backup RAT generator at a time when most RATs drove hydraulic pumps.

The major reason for choosing a RAT is safety; using a RAT in the United States allows an FAA-certified engine and power systems on the aircraft to remain unmodified.

Ram Air Turbine

A ram air turbine is a small wind turbine that is installed in an aircraft to be used as a source of power during emergencies.

These turbines are connected to an electrical generator or a hydraulic pump and use the airstream to generate power by ram pressure from the aircraft’s speed.

RATs are commonly used in military aircraft as this type of aircraft must be fully prepared for emergencies, including a complete loss of power.

In the United States, using a RAT in crop-dusting aircraft is especially convenient, as it allows an FAA-certified engine and an aircraft’s power systems to operate without modification.

RAM air turbines are the core of an aircraft’s emergency power system and have even helped save 1,700 lives in 16 documented emergency situations.

In the event of a power loss, the RAT deploys from the wing or fuselage and derives power from the airstream to help control and land the aircraft.

All in all, RAM air turbines are both useful and crucial in the aviation world, and in operating safe aircraft.

Advanced Technologies Group

ATGI designs and manufactures the world’s most powerful Ducted Ram Air Turbine for Electronic Warfare, Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance and emergency power generation systems for both military and commercial applications.

ATGI has obtained dual use commodity jurisdiction for the Hi-power Ram Air Turbine technology.

This patented technology is now available for use in any airborne platform that requires additional power.

The unique power turbine is capable of developing 100’s of kilowatts of power from sea level to altitudes above 60,000ft.

ATGI can provide custom RAT power generation systems adapted to your air application in less than 6 months.

ATGI understands its customers’ needs and delivers an innovative, high quality and on time product.

SKYbrary Aviation Safety

A Ram Air Turbine is a small turbine that is installed in an aircraft and used as an alternate or emergency hydraulic or electrical power source.

The RAT generates power from the airstream based on the speed of the aircraft and is connected to an electrical generator or to a hydraulic pump.

In general, modern aircraft only utilize the RAT in emergency: either in the event of loss of hydraulic systems or following the loss of primary electrical generation.

In these cases the RAT will power vital systems such as flight controls or flight-critical instrumentation, navigation and communication equipment.

Some RATs produce only hydraulic power which in turn is used to power an electrical generator.

It can be deployed manually when required or, in some installations, will deploy automatically following a complete loss of AC power.

In the interval between power loss and RAT deployment, aircraft batteries are used to power essential instrumentation.

The Ram Air Turbine On Aircraft

A Ram Air Turbine is an emergency system that can be deployed by an aircraft that uses the force of the airstream to turn a small propellor which produces either electrical or hydraulic power.

The Ram Air Turbine, or RAT, is designed as an emergency backup to supply flight controls with hydraulic power and electricity via an emergency electrical generator.

In this situation the Ram Air Turbine will supply hydraulic power which is used to power the emergency electrical generator.

The Airbus A320 Ram Air Turbine is used in the event of a dual engine failure or serious electrical problem to supply electrical power.

The Emergency Generator is a backup system that can use hydraulic power from the Ram Air Turbine to supply electrical power to the aircraft.

Backup power is supplied by the Ram Air Turbine which in turn supplies the Emergency Generator that supplies limited electrical power.

On the Boeing 777 the Ram Air Turbine is considereded because the turbine is connected to en electrical generator and a hydraulic pump.

Our intended market is small, low-speed aircraft, as our RAT will be undersized for large commercial aircraft applications; the wind tunnel at Duke University limits us to a diameter of 10 inches, whereas airliner RATs are on the order of two to three feet in diameter3.

RAT White – 20/48 Statistical Analysis: As blade or blisk failure on a RAT would mean disaster for the plane on which it was being used, we decided to statistically analyze the maximum stresses placed on the blisk and compare them to a statistical representation of the yield stress of the ABS plastic used to construct the blisk.

Assemble RAT in wind tunnel fixing the RAT to the load cell.

RAT White – 47/48 Appendix C: Hamilton Sundstrand Survey Responses Hello RAT Team, Good luck with you project, it should be quite interesting and challenging.

The rat speed has to be controlled so that at high airspeeds the RAT does not destroy itself.

F) Deployed Size: 3 Deployed size is somewhat important as it relates to the amount of room inside the aircraft required to stow the RAT. It is generally a challenge to find much room for a RAT in plane.

RAT White – 48/48 g) Lifetime: 2 Since a rat is primarily an emergency device, life is not the most important design constraint.

The Inside Story On How GlobalTranz And WorldWide Express Came Together

NEW YORK – At a daylong conference earlier this month focused on the explosion of private equity interest and money in the logistics sector, attendees heard from a CEO behind one of the biggest deals of 2021: the merger that brought together 3PLs GlobalTranz and Worldwide Express.

Bob Farrell of GlobalTranz told a conference sponsored by the Benesch law firm that “Private equity is about turning intentions into reality.” And with the backing of CVC Capital Partners, that happened this year when truckload/LTL-focused GlobalTranz merged with Worldwide Express, creating a logistics giant that has significant parcel capabilities through Worldwide and the longer-haul business that GlobalTranz has long been known for.

Farrell said in 2017, GlobalTranz began an acquisition program that resulted in 13 purchases “That allowed us to scale the company dramatically.” “Some of it was transformational and brought new capabilities into the company,” Farrell explained.

In June of that year, GlobalTranz was sold to The Jordan Co. After that acquisition, Farrell said, “We kept driving the company forward.” Another acquisition was completed,, GlobalTranz and Jordan agreed on their “Next objectives,” and then an unusual thing happened: Jordan thought about selling.

The possibility of a tie-up between Worldwide and GlobalTranz had been a topic of discussion between Farrell and Worldwide management going back to 2017, Farrell said.

While the talks between Farrell and Worldwide executives may have been off and on for several years, Farrell said GlobalTranz got particularly interested when it learned in the spring of this year that Worldwide “Was running a process.”

While the merger between Worldwide Express and GlobalTranz was led by CVC Capital Partners, investors who owned the individual companies continue to have stakes in the new company.

GlobalTranz received and moved my product into their warehouse in Georgia with the responsibility to export it.

They chose a freight company in Florida to export the product to Honduras.

Part of my product got lost between their ware house and the receiving international client.

GlobalTranz does not provide any information about the possible whereabouts of the products or any assistance trying to locate the goods accounting to over $13,000.

They have displayed a lack of interest trying to locate the lost merchandise, do not answer the phone calls and show no interest in providing an answer about the lost goods.
