Xi Jinping

Xi Jinping is a Chinese politician who has been serving as General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party and Chairman of the Central Military Commission since 2012, and President of the People’s Republic of China since 2013.

On 11 February 2009, while visiting Mexico, Xi spoke in front of a group of overseas Chinese and explained China’s contributions during the international financial crisis, saying that it was “The greatest contribution towards the whole of human race, made by China, to prevent its 1.3 billion people from hunger”.

In May 2015, U.S. Secretary of Defense Ash Carter warned the government of Xi Jinping to halt its rapid island-building in disputed territory in the South China Sea.

In September 2020 Xi Jinping announced that China will “Strengthen its 2030 climate target, peak emissions before 2030 and aim to achieve carbon neutrality before 2060”.

In September 2021 Xi Jinping announced that China will not build “Coal-fired power projects abroad”.

As communist ideology plays a less central role in the lives of the masses in the People’s Republic of China, top political leaders of the Chinese Communist Party such as Xi continue the rehabilitation of ancient Chinese philosophical figures like Han Fei into the mainstream of Chinese thought alongside Confucianism, both of which Xi sees as relevant.

In January 2019, Xi Jinping called on Taiwan to reject its formal independence from China, saying: “We make no promise to renounce the use of force and reserve the option of taking all necessary means.” Those options, he said, could be used against “External interference”.

Xi Jinping Attends Inner Mongolia Delegation’S Deliberation At NPC

Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, president of the People’s Republic of China and chairman of the Central Military Commission, participated in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region delegation’s deliberation at the Fifth Session of the 13th National People’s Congress on Saturday.

Seeds in a pomegranate are what Xi used to describe how all ethnic groups can stick together as long as the sense of Chinese nation as a community being the foundation for ethnic unity can be laid.

Only with ethnic unity will people from all ethnic groups join hands in building our country, Xi said.

In 2021, China has made comprehensive advancements in reform, development and stability, with new and major achievements attained in the pursuit of the cause of the Party and the country, Xi noted.

Xi pointed out that China is a unified nation of many ethnic groups.

Xi stressed that what Inner Mongolia has achieved today is the results of the concerted efforts of people of all ethnic groups, and the bright future of the autonomous region would not be achieved without the unity and hard work of people of all ethnic groups.

Xi pointed out that Inner Mongolia, as a border area with a large ethnic minority population, shoulders a major responsibility for safeguarding ethnic solidarity and the stability of our border.

Putin’S War Is Xi’S Worst Nightmare

Regardless of whether he possessed detailed or advance knowledge of Russia’s invasion plans, two things are almost certain: Xi expected Russia’s battle-hardened military to quickly rout the Ukrainians, and the international community’s response would be muted.

Prior to Russia’s invasion, the likelihood of a near-term Chinese attack on Taiwan was already low.

Last week, Chinese fighters entered Taiwan’s airspace just after Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen voiced her support for Ukraine and other Taiwanese politicians sought to draw an equivalence between Russia’s dispute with Ukraine and China’s with Taiwan.

In contrast to China, Russia’s military is also skilled in urban warfare.

Could the same tactical challenges befall China’s inexperienced military during an invasion of Taiwan? The simple answer: Of course, they could, which is why China is acutely monitoring the situation.

Russia’s ejection from the international order also extends to the United Nations, where China has worked extensively to build up its international brand and exert its influence.

If China envisioned that its trade links with other countries would shield it from multilateral condemnation after a military strike on Taiwan, all available evidence suggests that Beijing needs to rethink those assumptions.

Biography, Education, Age, Wife, Peng Liyuan, & Facts

Xi Jinping,, Chinese politician and government official who served as vice president of the People’s Republic of China, general secretary of the Chinese Communist Party, and president of China.

The elder Xi was often out of favour with his party and government, especially before and during the Cultural Revolution and after he openly criticized the government’s actions during the 1989 Tiananmen Square incident.

While living in Fujian, Xi married the well-known folksinger Peng Liyuan in 1987.

Xi’s fortunes got another boost in early 2007 when a scandal surrounding the upper leadership of Shanghai led to his taking over as the city’s party secretary.

In contrast to his reformist father, Xi had a reputation for prudence and for following the party line, and as Shanghai’s secretary his focus was squarely on promoting stability and rehabilitation of the city’s financial image.

In November 2012, during the CCP’s 18th party congress, Xi was again elected to the standing committee of the Political Bureau, and he succeeded Hu as general secretary of the party.

A year later the CCP voted to enshrine Xi’s name and ideology, described as “Thought”, in the party’s constitution, an honour previously awarded only to Mao.

Family, Education & Age

Xi Jinping is the top leader in the Communist Party of China and the President of the People’s Republic of China.

In early 2008, Xi’s visibility became even greater when he was elected vice president of the People’s Republic of China and placed in charge of preparations for the 2008 summer Olympics in Beijing.

On March 14, 2013, Xi completed his ascent when he was elected president of the People’s Republic of China, a ceremonial position as head of state.

In recent years, Xi has asserted China’s naval capacities through the construction of artificial islands within disputed territories of the South China Sea.

In July 2016, an international tribunal in The Hague ruled that China had illegally claimed those territories, although China refused to accept the authority of that ruling.

“China does not seek a trade surplus,” the president said.

In late February 2018, the Communist Party’s Central Committee proposed scrapping term limits for China’s president and vice president, potentially setting the table for Xi to govern indefinitely.

With US Distracted By Ukraine, China Plots Its Own Invasion

While China’s foreign minister Wang Yi publicly “Laments” the “Outbreak of the conflict” in Ukraine, let’s not forget that Putin flew to Beijing, as the Winter Olympics were starting, to meet with Xi and sign no fewer than 15 different agreements on trade, including oil and natural gas.

Just as Putin’s panzers began rolling into Ukraine, China opened its doors to Russian wheat.

The two countries even coordinated the timing of the attack, with Putin agreeing to delay his invasion until the Beijing games were over.

In other words, Putin set about expanding his empire knowing that the Chinese Communist Party had his back and would help to ease the pain of the economic sanctions that were sure to follow the invasion.

That’s why Beijing refuses to call Putin’s “Special military action” against Ukraine an invasion.

There is one sanction in particular that may have Putin sweating in his bunker, and may even convince Xi to shelve his own invasion plans.

If there is anything that will stop the butchery in Ukraine – and permanently deter CCP aggression against Taiwan – it is this threat to the Russian and Chinese oligarchs, that the money they’ve stolen from their own peoples and stashed overseas will be confiscated.

China’S Xi Jinping Stresses Cooperation With North Korea’S Kim Under ‘New Situation’: State Media

Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent a message to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un emphasizing cooperation between the two countries, according to state media in North Korea.

Xi said that China was ready to work with North Korea to realize the two sides’ “Common understanding” and promote friendly and supportive relations under “a new situation,” state media outlet KCNA reported Saturday.

CHINA SAYS IT ‘SUPPORTS’ RUSSIA AMID UKRAINE INVASION, BACKS PUTIN’S CLAIM HE’S READY FOR NEGOTIATIONS. The report didn’t provide details on the “New situation,” according to Reuters, which first reported on Xi’s message.

Xi’s remarks come in response to Kim’s message of congratulations following the close of the Winter Olympics in Beijing, state media reported.

The messages of support between the two countries also come a day after Xi offered his “Support” for Russian President Vladimir Putin as Russian forces bombarded Ukraine in a full-scale invasion.

According to a readout of a call held between the two allies, Xi expressed the importance of rejecting a “Cold War mentality” and said he takes “Seriously and respect[s] the reasonable security concerns of all countries.”

China has remained tight-lipped in condemning Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, merely repeating talking points and claiming it respects “All countries’ sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

Natural Rubber

Industrial demand for rubber-like materials began to outstrip natural rubber supplies by the end of the 19th century, leading to the synthesis of synthetic rubber in 1909 by chemical means.

The major commercial source of natural rubber latex is the Amazonian rubber tree, a member of the spurge family, Euphorbiaceae.

The latex exhibits the same quality as the natural rubber from rubber trees.

The term gum rubber is sometimes applied to the tree-obtained version of natural rubber in order to distinguish it from the synthetic version.

Natural rubber is not cultivated widely in its native continent of South America due to the existence of South American leaf blight, and other natural predators.

Natural rubber is often vulcanized – a process by which the rubber is heated and sulfur, peroxide, or bisphenol are added to improve resistance and elasticity and to prevent it from perishing.

As the cost of natural rubber has risen significantly and rubber products are dense, the shipping methods offering the lowest cost per unit weight are preferred.

Properties, Applications And Uses

As opposed to synthetic rubbers, which are made from petrochemicals, natural rubber is made from the latex sap of rubber trees.

Natural rubber isn’t as effective at resisting heat, light and ozone as other rubbers like neoprene.

Natural rubber must first be tapped from a rubber tree, then processed with chemicals and heat to be used in manufacturing.

Even though artificial rubber was invented in the 1930s, natural rubber is still widely used today, making up a little under half the market.

Natural rubber is used in applications requiring a high level of wear and heat resistance.

Thanks to its strength and compressibility, natural rubber is used in engineering applications, like anti-vibration mounts, drive couplings, springs, bearings, rubber bands, and adhesives.

Thanks to its adhesive properties, natural rubber is also found in rubber cement and the soil stabilization materials used around new roads.

Natural Rubber, Natural Rubber Properties, Natural Rubber Uses, Natural Rubber Information, Natural Rubber Industry

Natural rubber is one of the types of rubber that also include vulcanized rubber which is finished into a variety of rubber products.

After collecting the latex sap, the raw natural rubber is refined to convert it into a usable rubber.

The natural rubber industry has developed during the last 100 years, inspite of emergence of manmade rubber.

You can also check Rubber Industry Overview for detailed information of rubber industry.

Properties of Natural Rubber Natural rubber has certain unique properties such as follows: Natural rubber combines high strength with outstanding resistance to fatigue.

Uses of Natural rubber Natural rubber forms an excellent barrier to water.

The major natural rubber producers have also become major rubber consumers.

Examples, Preparation, Properties, Uses And FAQs Of Natural And Synthetic Rubber

Some common rubber-based objects that we encounter in our day-to-day lives include rubber gloves, rubber band, and rubber footwear.

Rubber items have the ability to recover their shapes after being stretched or distorted, which is the reason why rubber can be classified as an elastomer.

There are two primary types of rubber, namely natural rubber and synthetic rubber.

Natural rubber is made up of solid particles suspended in a milky white liquid that drips from the bark of certain tropical and subtropical trees.

Preparation of Natural Rubber: Rubber tapping – The milky white liquid latex is collected from the rubber trees in a cup by making a slight V-cut on the tree bark.

Rubber can be used for various rubber and across various platforms, few of them are mentioned below;.

Post Idea #5: Software-defined storage

Related Articles – Summarized

What Is Software-Defined Storage?

Software-defined storage is a storage architecture that separates storage software from its hardware.

Unlike traditional network-attached storage or storage area network systems, SDS is generally designed to perform on any industry-standard or x86 system, removing the software’s dependence on proprietary hardware.

Decoupling storage software from its hardware allows you to expand your storage capacity as you see fit, when you see fit, instead of scrambling to add another piece of proprietary hardware.

Each has a different storage capacity, and each needs a different kind of storage software to work.

Storage virtualization allows the capacity of many storage devices to be pooled so it looks like all the storage is sitting on one device.

SDS, in contrast, abstracts the storage services, or storage software, and separates them from the device itself.

SDS sounds good, right? As your storage needs evolve, SDS allows enterprises like yours to put storage volumes to work without worrying about whether those volumes integrate with other systems.

Software-defined storage enables users and organizations to uncouple or abstract storage resources from the underlying hardware platform for greater flexibility, efficiency and faster scalability by making storage resources programmable.

This approach enables storage resources to be an integral part of a larger software-designed data center architecture, in which resources can be easily automated and orchestrated rather than residing in siloes.

Software-defined storage is an approach to data management in which data storage resources are abstracted from the underlying physical storage hardware and are therefore more flexible.

Resource flexibility is paired with programmability to enable storage that rapidly and automatically adapts to new demands.

Benefits of software-defined storage Future-proof with independence from hardware vendor lock-in.

Distributed file systems for object storage offload. HCI software.

NetApp and software-defined storage NetApp is at the forefront of the development and delivery of software-defined storage-based solutions and is using its deep data fabric expertise and storage management software to help customers take full advantage of this new technology paradigm.

Software Defined Storage And How It Benefits Businesses

While most data storage products do require both software and hardware to function-with the software serving as the management component to control and monitor the hardware and storage tasks-software-defined storage differs.

By merging separate servers, storage networks, and storage arrays into a distributed cluster of compute and storage resources running on commodity servers, hyperconverged infrastructure delivers businesses a single, streamlined way to manage and scale their storage needs.

Storage virtualization is used to separate storage hardware and storage management software, which often also includes a variety of policy management for replication, snapshot, and backup purposes.

While SDS prospects may see the value of adopting the solution, businesses must consider not just the benefits of SDS, but also the risks associated with sticking to a legacy, hardware-based storage strategy.

Since SDS separates “Intelligence”-i.e., software-from devices, administrative tasks are reduced, and businesses can leverage automated policies in their storage plan, letting them respond quickly as storage requirements shift.

There are multiple benefits of adopting software-defined storage that are pushing more businesses to choose a hardware-neutral approach to storage.

As storage demands grow, businesses can leverage the tiered capacity of SDS to provision storage on demand.

Software-Defined Storage

Flexible, scalable data storage is an important aspect of corporate digital transformation, and software-defined storage is a novel storage architecture that gives organizations the ability to expand their storage resources without adding or purchasing additional hardware.

Software-defined storage makes storage resources programmable, making data storage more efficient and infinitely scalable.

Traditionally, organizations used a network-attached storage or a storage area network system dependent on specific proprietary hardware.

SDS removes the dependence storage software has on proprietary hardware, which gives organizations the ability to expand their storage capacity as they see fit without adding additional hardware.

Software-defined storage doesn’t physically separate the storage from the hardware.

Software-defined storage abstracts the processes that control data storage requests, not the actual stored data.

SDS allows your organization to remove or bypass each server’s storage capacities and software requirements and put all storage resources in one place that is completely flexible and infinitely scalable.

May allow storage and data service owners to do cost recuperation via a chargeback model based on the authenticated storage consumer.

Necessary Software Defined Storage Functionality Since many storage offerings today have already been abstracted and virtualized, what capabilities should be offered to claim the title of Software Defined Storage? Software Defined Storage should include: Automation – Simplified management that reduces the cost of maintaining the storage infrastructure.

Ideally, SDS offerings allow applications and data producers to manage the treatment of their data by the storage infrastructure without the need for intervention from storage administrators, without explicit provisioning operations, and with automatic service level management.

Metadata should be used to: Express Requirements Control the Data Services Express Service Level Capabilities The User’s View of Software Defined Storage An application or storage user’s view of SDS includes both a data path and a control path.

The data path consists of a combination of previously standardized block, file and object interfaces for which applications have been developed, but what about the control path? Nearly all storage that is currently deployed requires a storage administrator to create virtual storage devices for the application to use.

Communication of the requirements for that data is usually out of band of any storage interface, and is made directly to the storage administrator, as is shown in the Figure below: Figure 1: Traditional, Manual conveyance of Data Requirements As can be seen in the above figure, this storage is not very “Software defined”, but more “Storage administrator” defined and implemented.

The Software Defined Storage offers a less complex method of managing storage.

What Is Software-Defined Storage?

Software-defined storage is a computer program that manages data storage resources and functionality and has no dependencies on the underlying physical storage hardware.

Purists argue that any data storage product could be described as software-defined, since all storage products require software to manage the underlying hardware and control storage-related tasks.

With Intel x86 processors and to enable cost savings over traditional storage area network and network-attached storage systems that tightly couple software and hardware.

Common characteristics of SDS products include the ability to aggregate storage resources, scale out the system across a server cluster, manage the shared storage.

Several major storage vendors have released software versions of storage products that were previously tied to specific hardware.

Examples include Dell EMC’s UnityVSA from its Unity storage array and IsilonSD Edge from the Isilon scale-out NAS system; IBM Spectrum Accelerate from the vendor’s XIV storage; and NetApp’s OnTap Select, a software-only version of the OS that powers the company’s storage arrays.

Brain-Computer Interface

Continual improvements of this BCI, as well as similar visual BCIs in development, hold great promise that BCIs will soon provide patients with successful options for eradicating blindness.

Different techniques are used to measure brain activity for BCIs.

Studies with DOC patients will then demonstrate whether BCI can be purposefully utilized to investigate cognitive processing, to improve diagnosis, or even for social interaction in patients with DOC. It is unknown how much structural and functional integrity and connectivity of the brain is necessary to use a BCI for at least minimal communication.

One view is that electrodes on top of the brain are safer and easier to place, and that they can capture enough signal for effective BCI control.

The pace of knowledge, progress, and technology innovation seems to promise continuing and steady progress to create better BCIs, but the pace can be substantially accelerated when the field integrates a clear definition of goals, regulatory and clinical demands, commercialization potential, and health care system impact, as well as the ELSI of brain interface technology.

Further miniaturization of BCI and neuroprosthetic devices will also increase the adoption of these technologies and facilitate the development of fully implantable BCI systems.

A detailed analysis of the cyber-vulnerabilities of BCIs suggested that security breaches could occur at various phases of the BCI cycle including signal acquisition, feature extraction and decoding.

The most promising applications include augmenting the UI of AR/VR glasses with BCI components.

Brain-Computer Interface

Implementations of BCIs range from non-invasive and partially invasive to invasive, based on how close electrodes get to brain tissue.

This 1988 report written by Stevo Bozinovski, Mihail Sestakov, and Liljana Bozinovska was the first one about a robot control using EEG. In 1990, a report was given on a closed loop, bidirectional adaptive BCI controlling computer buzzer by an anticipatory brain potential, the Contingent Negative Variation potential.

The CNV brain potential was part of the BCI challenge presented by Vidal in his 1973 paper.

Miguel Nicolelis, a professor at Duke University, in Durham, North Carolina, has been a prominent proponent of using multiple electrodes spread over a greater area of the brain to obtain neuronal signals to drive a BCI. After conducting initial studies in rats during the 1990s, Nicolelis and his colleagues developed BCIs that decoded brain activity in owl monkeys and used the devices to reproduce monkey movements in robotic arms.

Partially invasive BCI devices are implanted inside the skull but rest outside the brain rather than within the grey matter.

After the BCI challenge was stated by Vidal in 1973, the initial reports on non-invasive approach included control of a cursor in 2D using VEP, control of a buzzer using CNV, control of a physical object, a robot, using a brain rhythm, control of a text written on a screen using P300. In the early days of BCI research, another substantial barrier to using Electroencephalography as a brain-computer interface was the extensive training required before users can work the technology.

While the cellular based BCI technology was developed to initiate a phone call from SSVEPs, the researchers said that it can be translated for other applications, such as picking up sensorimotor mu/beta rhythms to function as a motor-imagery based BCI. In 2013, comparative tests were performed on android cell phone, tablet, and computer based BCIs, analyzing the power spectrum density of resultant EEG SSVEPs.

Brain-Computer Interfaces: Definitions And Principles

Unlike the natural CNS outputs that come from spinal and brainstem motoneurons, BCI outputs come from brain signals that represent activity in other CNS areas, such as the sensorimotor cortex.

If BCIs are to be useful for important communication and control tasks in real life, the CNS must control these brain signals nearly as reliably and accurately as it controls spinal motoneurons.

The ongoing adaptive modifications that maintain effective natural CNS outputs take place primarily in the CNS. The adaptive modifications that maintain effective BCI outputs can also take place in the BCI. This means that the BCI operation depends on the effective collaboration of two adaptive controllers, the CNS and the BCI. Realization of this second adaptive controller, the BCI, and management of its interactions with concurrent adaptations in the CNS comprise another complex and critical challenge for BCI development.

BCIs can use different kinds of brain signals recorded in different ways from different brain areas.

Noninvasive BCIs need to take special care to avoid interpreting nonbrain signals as brain signals.

In the future, the most effective BCIs will probably be those that combine goal selection and process control so as to distribute control between the BCI and the application in a fashion suited to the current action.

The primary measure of BCI development is the extent to which BCI systems benefit people with neuromuscular disorders.

The Introductory Guide To BCI

One study tested a BCI system on its ability to detect and classify brain activity with its paired mental actions.

BCI researchers have also used humanoid robots controlled by BCI devices to manipulate a remote environment.

BCI is being used to study how specific tissue systems respond to electrical stimulation and what that could mean at the cognitive level.

In the future, we may see BCI medical products used in surgery or other medical operations.

BCI enables subjects with motor disabilities to use their brain activity to control objects in their environment and communicate.

BCI software can “Translate” mental commands from EEG data into commands in a video game.

In BCI gaming, instead of using a traditional game controller, the subject uses mental commands to enable movement-based actions in the game – such as “Push,” “Pull” or “Jump.” The BCI processes mental commands from the EEG and triggers the corresponding action in the VR game.

How Does Brain-Computer Interface Work

In invasive BCI, electrodes are applied on the scalp of the human, i.e., EEG-based BCI. While in invasive BCI, the electrodes are directly attached to the brain carrying out surgeries.

BCI can be adaptive, assistive, and rehabilitative technology that reads or interprets older adults’ brain activity and transforms into signals that can be used to operate the devices.

In the last two decades, multiple BCI approaches have been developed based upon slow waves, EPs, SSEPs, and MI paradigms to help escalate the medical field through BCI. The first BCI application was used to move prosthetics, spell, and move the computer cursor.

The role of BCI is widespread in medicine, and it is used in automated wheelchair control through the BCI approach; another exclusive clinical application of BCI is the facilitation of motor function after spinal cord surgery or stroke.

BCIs can be helpful in the diagnosis of certain brain disorders.

Artistic BCI refers to the integration of arts into BCI. David Rosen boom was the first to try different experiments to link brain functions with the musical production, perception of proprioception, and musical forms.

There are some social and ethical concerns regarding the application of BCI. Many factors like user safety, privacy protection, ethics, community acceptance, data confidentiality, and socioeconomic aspects related to BCI ensure user satisfaction.

Buffett worked from 1951 to 1954 at Buffett-Falk & Co. as an investment salesman; from 1954 to 1956 at Graham-Newman Corp. as a securities analyst; from 1956 to 1969 at Buffett Partnership, Ltd. as a general partner; and from 1970 as Chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. In 1951, Buffett discovered that Graham was on the board of GEICO insurance.

In 1962, Buffett became a millionaire because of his partnerships, which in January 1962 had an excess of $7,178,500, of which over $1,025,000 belonged to Buffett.

Buffett said in one of his letters to shareholders that “When trillions of dollars are managed by Wall Streeters charging high fees, it will usually be the managers who reap outsized profits, not the clients.” In 2007, Buffett made a bet with numerous managers that a simple S&P 500 index fund will outperform hedge funds that charge exorbitant fees.

In a letter to shareholders, Buffett said he felt “Great – as if I were in my normal excellent health – and my energy level is 100 percent.” On September 15, 2012, Buffett announced that he had completed the full 44-day radiation treatment cycle, saying “It’s a great day for me” and “I am so glad to say that’s over.”

Buffett thinks health care costs should head towards 13 to 14% of GDP. Buffett said “If you want the very best, I mean if you want to spend a million dollars to prolong your life 3 months in a coma or something then the US is probably the best”, but he also said that other countries spend much less and receive much more in health care value.

Warren Buffett’S Berkshire Hathaway Has $5 Billion Stake In Occidental Petroleum

Berkshire Hathaway owns a 9.8% stake in Occidental Petroleum worth $5.1 billion after furious buying activity in shares of the big energy company this past week.

Berkshire Hathaway disclosed late Friday in a form 4 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission that it held 91.2 million shares of Occidental Petroleum, up from 29.8 million shares on Tuesday, which was disclosed in a separate 13-G SEC filing on Friday.
