XPO Logistics Stock Is Soaring On News Of Breakup

Wednesday’s news from XPO Logistics that it plans to break into several pieces has the stock jumping.

XPO is a provider of both less than truckload and truck brokerage services.

XPO stock was up 13.8% in premarket trading, while futures on the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average had gained about 1.8% and 1.7%, respectively.

Deutsche Bank analyst Amit Mehrotra estimates the transaction will create “At least” $13 in shareholder value and “Closer to $30 under reasonable valuation assumptions.” XPO stock was up about $8.57 a share at $70.50 in premarket trading.

Almost 85% of analysts covering XPO stock rate the shares at Buy.

The average Buy-rating ratio for stocks in the S&P 500 is about 58%. The average analyst price target for XPO is up to $98 a share, up $1 from just before the deal was announced.

Based on early Wednesday trading, XPO stock is down about 9% year to date.

XPO Logistics announced after the closing bell Tuesday it will become solely a trucking company, spinning off its high-tech truck brokerage business into a separate publicly traded firm.

The remaining trucking business will retain current management including Jacobs, the ticker symbol XPO and headquarters in Greenwich, Connecticut.

XPO will focus solely on LTL, where the company gets 33% of revenue.

Tuesday’s announcement is a departure from XPO’s growth strategy between 2011 and 2015, which included the 2015 acquisition of LTL trucker Con-Way for $3 billion.

In March 2021, XPO announced it would spinoff its contract logistics business into a separate publicly traded company called GXO. Those shares began trading back in Aug 2.

XPO’s North American LTL business reported more than $4.1 billion in revenue in 2021, with 16% growth year over year.

The pricing of shares and how many shares of the new LTL company current XPO shareholders will receive is still being decided.

Is A Recession Coming? Logistics Company CEO Says No

XPO Logistics CEO Brad Jacobs has seen a few recessions in his many decades building and leading industrial companies.

While he acknowledges recessions are scary stuff, the dealmaking exec isn’t yet ready to predict a U.S. recession this year amid soaring energy prices due to the Russia-Ukraine war.

If those inflated prices persist, it could lead to a potential recession in the U.S. this year.

XPO said Wednesday it will separate its tech-enabled brokered transportation services from its less-than-truckload business in North America.

XPO Logistics To Spin Off Tech Brokerage From LTL Business

XPO Logistics announced that it plans to create separate businesses for its brokerage and less-than-truckload operations and divest its European business and its intermodal operation.

The spin-off of brokered transportation services to XPO shareholders would transform the remaining business into a pure-play less-than-truckload company, while the divestitures would simplify the company’s transportation service offerings.

Upon completion of the spin-off, XPO’s North American LTL segment would be a pure-play LTL, the third-largest provider of domestic and cross-border LTL freight shipping, with a network of transportation assets managed by proprietary technology.

UPS got out of the LTL business and Central Freight Lines closed its doors.

Transervice Integrated Solutions launched an LTL service and Uber Freight expanded its load-matching into LTL. XPO expects to complete the planned spin-off in the fourth quarter of 2022, subject to various conditions.

At the end of 2021, XPO’s North American LTL business segment had an integrated network of 291 terminals, approximately 12,000 professional drivers, and approximately 7,900 tractors and 25,800 trailers.

For the full year 2021, the business generated $4.1 billion of revenue, $618 million of operating income and $904 million of adjusted EBITDA, as well as the second best adjusted operating ratio in the LTL industry.

Biodegradable Plastic

Plastic items labelled as ‘biodegradable’, but that only break down into smaller pieces like microplastics, or into smaller units that are not biodegradable, are not an improvement over conventional plastic.

Oxo-degradable plastics cannot be classified as biodegradable under American and European standards because they take too long to break down and leave plastic fragments not capable of being consumed by microorganisms.

In response, the European Commission’s Group of Chief Scientific Advisors recommended in 2021 to develop “Coherent testing and certification standards for biodegradation of plastic in the open environment”, including “Testing and certification schemes evaluating actual biodegradation of biodegradable plastics in the context of their application in a specific receiving open environment”.

Oxo-biodegradation: There are allegations that biodegradable plastic bags may release metals, and may require a great deal of time to degrade in certain circumstances and that OBD plastics may produce tiny fragments of plastic that do not continue to degrade at any appreciable rate regardless of the environment.

Since as of 2010, approximately 270 million tonnes of plastic are made every year, replacing conventional plastic with corn-derived polylactic acid would remove 715.5 million tonnes from the world’s food supply, at a time when global warming is reducing tropical farm productivity.

Methane release: There is concern that another greenhouse gas, methane, might be released when any biodegradable material, including truly biodegradable plastics, degrades in an anaerobic landfill environment.

With rising concern for environmental ramifications of plastic waste, researchers have been exploring the application of genetic engineering and synthetic biology for optimizing biodegradable plastic production.

Applications Of Biodegradable Products

Unlike the general version of any plastic material, biodegradable plastic doesn’t borrow its properties from its raw material but by the polymer’s chemical arrangement.

Telling them apart is easy; compostable plastics are biodegradable in composting situations, while other plastics degrade in landfills and glycolytic digesters.

Since fossil fuels are not used in manufacturing biodegradable plastic products, they can help cut the global CO2 emission, increasing at an alarming rate.

The plastic processing industry does a major share of emissions, so switching to biodegradable and compostable plastics is the key to a pollution-free future.

Biodegradable plastics are used in products like pins, screws, and tacks.

The best way to dispose of biodegradable plastics is to send them to an industrial or commercial composting facility to break down the plastic with the right amount of heat, microbes, and time.

Completly replacing biodegradable plastics with our traditional plastic will take some time and lots of effort, but it’s doable.

Biodegradable Plastics: Advantages, Disadvantages And Various Uses Of It

The world has witnessed the various environmental problems associated with plastics, advancements have been made towards the manufacture and use of biodegradable plastics.

Biodegradable plastics are perceived to be more eco-friendly due to their environmental benefits, which are hard to deny compared to ordinary plastics.

The industrial processing of biodegradable plastics is similar to the manufacture of ordinary plastic, only that the materials used differ and for bio-degradable plastics; they are the materials that can easily break down or decompose.

Less energy is needed in the manufacturing of biodegradable plastics compared to ordinary plastics.

With biodegradable plastics, such as those made from sugar and carbon dioxide by researchers from the University of Bath, the world foresees a future of plastics that can decompose and release only the amount of energy that was used to make it.

The use of biodegradable plastic products instead of traditional plastics lessens the amount of greenhouse gas emissions.

Corn-starch being one of the major components in the biodegradable plastic products, there must be water to ensure proper and timely decomposition of the biodegradable plastics.

Rather than remaining stable for hundreds of years – the quality for which we prized plastic when we first began using it – biodegradable plastics can be broken down by microbes, chewed up and turned into biomass, water and carbon dioxide.

Only a minority of these plastics are home compostable the label “Compostable” most often means industrially compostable.

That’s because sunlight helps break down plastics through a process called photo-oxidation, in which the plastic becomes weathered and brittle, eventually fragmenting rather than breaking down to its organic components.

While thin compostable plastics like carrier bags might break down in the ocean, the thicker and more robust PLA used to line coffee cups and make cup lids, clear plastic tumblers, drinking straws, and other food packaging is expected to act like traditional plastic in seawater, and won’t break down at all.

These plastics might not solve our marine plastic pollution problem, but they are well suited to tackling another big environmental problem: food waste.

From coffee cups to sandwich packaging to takeaway containers, putting food in compostable plastics means that – in an ideal world, at least – the plastic and any food waste still stuck to it can be composted together.

If we do figure out how to properly process them, compostable plastics could lend a helping hand when it comes to traditional plastic recycling too.

Post Idea #4: Food packaging

Food packaging is defined as enclosing food to protect it from tampering or contamination from physical, chemical, and biological sources, with active packaging being the most common packaging system used for preserving food products.

Two consequences of this property are of particular interest, namely the permeability of the package to gases and vapors, and the migration of low molecular weight substances from the package to the food or from the food to the packaging material and out.

In packaging technology, mechanical properties should be considered and evaluated at the level of the packaging material, the formed empty package, the product-package assembly and the outer packages.

These aspects refer mainly to the packaging materials and packaging systems, to the protective function of packaging and to some environmental issues of food packaging.

There are estimated to be more than 130 Chinese food safety standards applicable to food packaging materials, including standards that address food contact additives, specific food packaging products, and specific food packaging material groups such as paper, metal, or ceramic.

Food packaging science is a discipline which applies principles from four major areas of science to understand the properties of packaging materials, packaging requirements of foods, and the packaging system.

Food packaging technology is a science-based solution to address specific food packaging needs; examples are tamper-proof packaging, microwavable packaging, modified atmospheric packaging, and controlled atmospheric packaging which are aimed at enhancing safety, quality, and convenience for the consumer.

Primary packaging is the main package that holds the food that is being processed.

A choice of packaging machinery requires consideration of technical capabilities, labor requirements, worker safety, maintainability, serviceability, reliability, ability to integrate into the packaging line, capital cost, floorspace, flexibility, energy usage, quality of outgoing packages, qualifications, throughput, efficiency, productivity, and ergonomics, at a minimum.

Organic matter that is still in the food packaging needs to be separated from the packaging.

To the degree that these physical changes in the indicator match the degradation rate of the food, the indicator can help indicate probable food degradation… Radio frequency identification is applied to food packages for supply chain control and has shown a significant benefit in allowing food producers and retailers create full real time visibility of their supply chain.

2D barcodes used in autocoding are increasingly applied to food packaging to ensure products are correctly packaged and date coded.

Special food contact materials are used when the package is in direct contact with the food product.

Depending on the packaging operation and the food, packaging machinery often needs specified daily wash-down and cleaning procedures.

The ports of Seattle and Tacoma, Los Angeles, and Long Beach and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey as well as selected international ports participated in the program.

Take the old port area of Tianjin port as an example.

In 1992, due to the strong typhoon storm attack, the wharves, passenger station, storage facilities, and stack fields were all flooded, sustaining direct economic losses of 400 million RMB. 31.2.1 Evolution of the Shipping IndustryIt is broadly acknowledged that over the last decades the international seaborne trade among European Union member states and non-EU countries has increased significantly, transforming ports and harbors into important industrial centers.

In recent years two other port cities have begun to open up new opportunities, even though neither is completely perfect because both are still in other countries; Gwadar in the far southwestern part of Baluchistan Province in Pakistan, and Chah Bahar in extreme southeastern Iran.Gwadar began life as a small and shallow port owned by the Sultanate of Oman over a century ago but was sold to Pakistan in 1957.

Management of the port was deeded to the Port of Singapore Authority for 40.

PLASTIC IBCS INCREASE FIRE RISK When composite IBCs containing combustible or flammable liquids are stored together in warehouses or other facilities, they can cause dangerous pool fires.

Composite IBCs can be easily breached and then the IBC itself contributes to the fire hazard.

Listed composite IBCs have been designed, built and certified to last in a fire for at least 20 minutes, and can be used for storing liquids with a closed cup flash point of 38 C or greater.

Of the dozens of composite IBCs on the market, there is currently only a very small fraction of listed and labeled composite IBCs in use.

The vast majority of composite IBCs that are used to store combustible or flammable liquids are creating a significant hazard.

Combustible liquids should never be placed in an unlisted plastic IBC. Additionally, in some cases, other fire properties, such as fire point, may also govern storage requirements.

Square stackable IBC tanks are portable, reusable, basic bulk handling containers.

A rotationally molded 1/2″ thick exterior eliminates seam weak points, promotes product service life and durability, and makes IBC containers reusable for hundreds of trips.

This IBC type is available in standard, premium, and wide mouth models to the same gallon capacities and specific gravity ratings.

Premium model square stackable IBC tanks are manufactured with all the standard square IBC model features.

The difference between the two is in available tank customization and the IBC pallet base.

Wide mouth model square stackable IBCs are manufactured as premium model square stackable IBCs with similar customization options but includes an 18″ wide manway opening.

Wide mouth stackable IBC totes promote complete product drainage through fully sloped tank bottoms and 2″ full port ball valves.

Intermediate Bulk Container

The two main categories of IBC tanks are flexible IBCs and rigid IBCs.

Rigid IBC design types are manufactured across a volume range that is in between that of standard shipping drums and intermodal tank containers, hence the title “Intermediate” bulk container.

Intermediate bulk containers can be manufactured from various materials based on the requirements of the application or service the IBC will be used for.

The most widely utilized and known IBC is the limited re-use, caged IBC tote container.

Caged IBC totes are composite intermediate bulk containers – a white/translucent plastic container contained and protected by a tubular galvanized steel grid, common.

Most IBCs are cube-shaped and this cube-shaped engineering contributes to the packaging, stacking, storing, shipping, and overall space efficiency of intermediate bulk containers.

Concerning the mechanical stability and sloshing of intermediate bulk containers during transport, some research has been performed through the U.S. Department of Transportation which seems to indicate that IBC containers perform overall very well during transit in terms of sloshing and mechanical stability.

The German automaker on Wednesday finally unveiled the electric vehicle as a 21st-century descendent of its T1 Microbus.

VW has previewed such a product for more than 20 years through concept vehicles, including a well-received EV called the ID Buzz in 2017.

The ID. Buzz features large circular “VW” badges on the front and back of the vehicle – homages to the original microbus.

The lower portion of the vehicle will be available in four colors: Lime Yellow, Starlight Blue, Energetic Orange and Bay Leaf Green.

VW did not release pricing or performance specifications for the U.S.-bound model, saying more details will be available closer to the vehicle’s launch.

The automaker did not release the electric range of the vehicle.

Everything We Know As Of March 2022

A relatively modern or futuristic name with an ‘ID.’ prefix and only a hint of the past, like ID. Buzz would combine the best of both worlds.

The ID. Buzz, including the ID. Buzz Cargo, is Volkswagen’s most sustainable model worldwide.

The ID. Buzz is high on refinement and more suitable for daily use compared to rival LCVs. The motor runs noticeably quieter than one would expect in a vehicle like this, and the ride is calm and relaxed.

Volkswagen expects to start delivering the ID. Buzz and ID. Buzz Cargo in Sweden this fall.

Scott Keogh has revealed basic details about the U.S.-spec VW ID. Buzz, as per an Automotive News report published on January 17, 2022.

Following the premiere on March 9, the ID. Buzz will go on sale in Europe by mid-year, and in the U.S. in late-2023.

The VW ID. Buzz will likely compete with the Peugeot e-Traveller, Citroen e-SpaceTourer, and Opel Vivaro e-Life.

2024 Volkswagen ID Buzz Electric Microbus Revealed: Less Flower, More Power

After five years of teases, the long-awaited debut of the Volkswagen ID Buzz is finally here.

The German automaker revealed the all-electric van at a virtual event on Wednesday, where it positioned the ID Buzz as a recreation of its iconic Type 2 Microbus – think hippies, flower power, and peace signs – for a more modern era.

The ID Buzz and its commercial equivalent, the ID Buzz Cargo, will arrive in Europe later this year, with a longer wheelbase version for US markets scheduled to make its debut in 2023 and go on sale here in 2024.

The charging power when using alternating current is 11 kW. At a DC fast-charging station, the ID Buzz’s charging power increases to as much as 170 kW. VW claims the vehicle will charge from 5 to 80 percent in just 30 minutes – or just eight minutes less than the 2021 VW ID 4 SUV. In the future, VW says the ID Buzz will offer Plug and Charge functionality, the standard that enables an EV to automatically identify and authorize itself to a third-party charging station on behalf of the owner.

The ID Buzz should have adequate charging support, thanks to VW-subsidiary Electrify America, which has more than 670 charging stations across the US, including nearly 2,900 individual DC fast chargers.

The cargo version of the ID Buzz will be even more spacious, with an option for a single front seat and a fixed partition to separate the back storage area.

When it’s released, the ID Buzz will join the ID 3 hatchback, the ID 4 compact SUV, and soon-to-be-released ID 5 coupe as the newest member of VW’s fast-growing lineup of electric vehicles.

The specified fuel consumption and emission data have been determined according to the measurement procedures prescribed by law.

Since 1st September 2017, certain new vehicles are already being type-approved according to the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure, a more realistic test procedure for measuring fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

We are currently still required by law to state the NEDC figures.

In the case of new vehicles which have been type-approved according to the WLTP, the NEDC figures are derived from the WLTP data.

In cases where the NEDC figures are specified as value ranges, these do not refer to a particular individual vehicle and do not constitute part of the sales offering.

Additional equipment and accessories may change the relevant vehicle parameters, such as weight, rolling resistance and aerodynamics, and, in conjunction with weather and traffic conditions and individual driving style, may affect fuel consumption, electrical power consumption, CO2 emissions and the performance figures for the vehicle.

Further information on official fuel consumption figures and the official specific CO2 emissions of new passenger cars can be found in the “Guide on the fuel economy, CO2 emissions and power consumption of new passenger car models”, which is available free of charge at all sales dealerships and from DAT Deutsche Automobil Treuhand GmbH, Hellmuth-Hirth-Str. 1, D-73760 Ostfildern, Germany and at www.

2024 Volkswagen ID.Buzz

Overview With electric vehicles becoming more mainstream each year, and few capacious EV options for families, the 2024 Volkswagen ID.Buzz aims to address a largely untapped market.

The design of the ID.Buzz commemorates the German company’s iconic Type 2 Microbus-or VW Bus for short-which inspired the new van’s retro design.

The ID.Buzz’s all-electric powertrain will come in rear- and all-wheel-drive configurations, delivering a driving range that’s expected to be around 260 miles.

What’s New for 2024?When the ID.Buzz goes on sale in the U.S. in 2024, it’ll mark the Volkswagen van’s long-awaited return to our shores.

EV Motor, Power, and PerformanceThe ID.Buzz will ride on Volkswagen’s Modular Electric Drive platform that currently underpins corporate products such as the Audi e-tron crossover and the VW ID.4 crossover.

The ID.Buzz’s standout standard features include a 10-inch digital gauge cluster, but the top options include customizable ambient lighting and a set of massaging front seats.

How to Buy and Maintain a Car.Safety and Driver-Assistance FeaturesThe ID.Buzz is offered with a diverse selection of standard and optional driver-assistance technology.

Volkswagen ID Buzz Says Goodbye Flower Power, Hello Electric Power

The ID Buzz van is one of the most exciting new cars to come from Volkswagen in a long time.

We don’t have any exact dimensions, but Volkswagen confirmed the US-spec ID Buzz will have a longer wheelbase and three rows of seats, compared to the two-row model pictured here.

Inside, the ID Buzz strikes an excellent balance between practical and whimsical.

From a tech standpoint, the Buzz is based on Volkswagen’s MEB platform, which means that there aren’t a lot of wild departures from what we’ve seen in the production ID 4 EV. We love the abundance of USB-C ports throughout the cabin, as well as the ample storage spaces and cubbies.

The ID Buzz will be available in Europe with bidirectional charging, meaning your Buzz could power your house should you lose grid power, and that’s cool.

Volkswagen is very likely going to offer a dual-motor version of the Buzz soon after launch.

Speaking of launch, Volkswagen tells us that while the European version of the ID Buzz should be on sale in a few months, we Americans will have to wait a lot longer.

2024 Volkswagen ID Buzz Electric Bus First Look: Patience Required For The American Version

An emissions scandal later, VW has finally revealed the reborn electric Bus, the 2024 Volkswagen ID Buzz.

You can’t buy the Euro-spec ID Buzz you see here stateside, as the American version won’t be ready until 2024.

VW Bus Meets ID Buzz.Understanding the Microbus of yesterday goes a long way toward understanding the 2024 Volkswagen ID Buzz of today.

Volkswagen isn’t talking range right now, but based on the ID Buzz’s specs, its 280-mile EPA rating, and its instrument cluster showing a 76-percent charge with 222 miles remaining, we think 270 miles is a safe guess for the electric Bus.

Regardless of what the 2024 Volkswagen ID Buzz nets on the EPA cycle, VW says it will feature a peak charge rate of 170 kW, good for a 5-to-80-percent charge in about 30 minutes.

About as wide as a Volkswagen Atlas and the length of a Volkswagen Tiguan in SWB form, the ID Buzz will be available globally as both a passenger van and a cargo van.

How Much Is a VW ID Buzz and When Can I Buy One?Volkswagen promises to announce overseas pricing of the ID Buzz in May, right around the time the van goes on sale in Europe.

Blake’s friendship with Lord Nelson provides the basis for Blake’s part in the growth of Lloyd’s insurance business following the Battle of Trafalgar.

What is the English language plot outline for Lloyds of London?

Lloyd’S Of London Definition

Lloyd’s of London is a British insurance market where members operate as syndicates to insure and spread out the risks of different businesses, organizations, and individuals.

The main purpose of Lloyd’s of London is to act as an intermediary between clients, underwriters, brokers, and insurance companies.

Unlike most of its industry peers, Lloyd’s of London is not an insurance company.

Lloyd’s of London functions like any financial market where buyers represent clients who want to hedge various risks.

There are five main groups that make up the Lloyd’s of London marketplace.

Cover holders allow Lloyd’s of London to operate globally without having to set up shop in many locations.

With roots in marine insurance, Lloyd’s was founded by Edward Lloyd at his coffee house on Tower Street in 1688.

What Is Lloyd’S Of London And How Does It Work?

What is Lloyd’s of London? Many small business owners have heard of Lloyd’s but aren’t sure what it does.

These days, brokers and underwriters convene at the Lloyd’s office building on Lime Street in East Central London.

One syndicate may focus on commercial property insurance, while another underwrites general liability and commercial auto liability insurance.

Managing Agents: Managing agents work on behalf of syndicates, overseeing their day-to-day business affairs.

Brokers: Insurance brokers act as intermediaries between insurance buyers and syndicates.

If your local insurance agent or broker is unable to obtain coverage on your behalf in the standard market, he or she may contact a surplus lines broker who has access to the Lloyd’s marketplace.

Your local agent will then work with the surplus lines or Lloyd’s broker to obtain coverage on your behalf.

Lloyd’s of London, generally known simply as Lloyd’s, is an insurance and reinsurance market located in London, United Kingdom.

Unlike most of its competitors in the industry, it is not an insurance company; rather, Lloyd’s is a corporate body governed by the Lloyd’s Act 1871 and subsequent Acts of Parliament.

The market has its roots in marine insurance and was founded by Edward Lloyd at his coffee house on Tower Street in c. 1686.

The market began in Lloyd’s Coffee House, owned by Edward Lloyd, some time in 1686 on Tower Street in the City of London.

This arrangement carried on until 1773, long after the death of Edward Lloyd in 1713, when the participating members of the insurance arrangement formed a committee and underwriter John Julius Angerstein acquired two rooms at the Royal Exchange in Cornhill for “The Society of Lloyd’s”.

Lloyd’s initially estimated the cost of the pandemic to the global insurance industry at $200bn, the Lloyd’s share being reported in its 2020 annual report at approximately $8.5bn primarily driven by event cancellation, property and travel losses.

Since at 1986 Lloyd’s has a certification system for people working with “The London Market”, initially called “Lloyd’s and London Market Introductory Test”.

Magnet Wire

Magnet wire or enameled wire is a copper or aluminium wire coated with a very thin layer of insulation.

Most often, magnet wire is composed of fully annealed, electrolytically refined copper to allow closer winding when making electromagnetic coils.

Because of its lower electrical conductivity, aluminium wire requires a 1.6-times larger cross sectional area than a copper wire to achieve comparable DC resistance.

Polyimide insulated magnet wire is capable of operation at up to 250 °C. The insulation of thicker square or rectangular magnet wire is often augmented by wrapping it with a high-temperature polyimide or fiberglass tape, and completed windings are often vacuum impregnated with an insulating varnish to improve insulation strength and long-term reliability of the winding.

Common temperature classes are 105 °C, 130 °C, 155 °C, 180 °C and 220 °C. In practice maximum current density can vary from 2.5 A/mm2 for a wire isolated from free air to 6 A/mm2 for a wire in free air.

An aluminium wire must have 1.6 times the cross sectional area as a copper wire to achieve comparable DC resistance.

Magnet wire is used in windings of electric motors, transformers, inductors, generators, headphones, loudspeaker coils, hard drive head positioners, electromagnets, and other devices.

Magnet Wire

For gauge size forty-five through fifty-six, all dimensions are theoretical.

All magnet wire constructions are manufactured in accordance with Military Specification J-W-1177.

Magnet Wire, Magnet Copper Wire, Copper Clad Aluminium

Because of the difficult contacting of Aluminum wire with problems of oxidation Copper Clad Aluminum can help to compromise between Copper and Aluminum.

Bare wire tolerances are very important in magnet wire as they have direct impact on the resistance what again determines the variance of the final coil resistance.

Finer magnet wire sizes are wound on smaller spools, while for heavy magnet wire sizes very large spools can be used.

Colors may be used to differentiate magnet wire types or magnet wire diameters, but have the disadvantage of lower technical properties and higher costs.

Softness of the magnet wire is an important criteria for good windability, in particular significantly reducing the number of wire breaks.

Enamel ApplicationThere are 2 main application systems for enamelling of winding Magnet wires, i.e felt application and die application, whereas felt application is mainly used in fine magnet wire production, while die application is mainly used in heavy magnet wire production.

The most important technical data of magnet copper wire are controlled by the resistance and outer diameter of the magnet wire.

An Ørsted spokeswoman did not respond to a request for more details about the timeline for Ocean Wind 1, but said in a statement prior to a public hearing on Monday night about the transmission line proposal that the developer will have more public hearings over the next couple years.

Many environmentalists support the offshore wind farms, and one of New Jersey’s leading clean energy advocates said this week that transmission lines will not be a hindrance to communities like Ocean City.

Offshore Wind Turbines Could Mess With Ships’ Radar Signals

The Biden administration is pushing to develop 30 gigawatts of offshore wind capacity by 2030-enough to power 10 million homes and reduce carbon emissions by 78 million metric tons.

It turns out that massive wind turbines may interfere with marine radar systems, making it risky for both big ships passing through shipping channels near offshore wind farms and smaller vessels navigating around them.

While European and Asian nations have relied on offshore wind power for more than a decade, the big wind farms proposed off the US continental shelf are larger and spaced further apart, meaning that ships are more likely to be operating nearby.

In the report, the US Coast Guard raised concerns that the radar interference may also hamper search-and-rescue efforts for ships that get in trouble around wind farms.

The bureau has already authorized construction of the 800-megawatt Vineyard Wind project south of Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, with 62 turbines, and the 130-megawatt South Fork wind project off the eastern tip of Long Island, New York, with 12 turbines.

Some environmental groups along the New Jersey coast believe that the offshore wind industry is moving too fast.

“In order to learn more about offshore wind in the US, we need to start building offshore wind in the US,” says Erin Baker, professor of industrial engineering and operations research at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, who has studied the climate and economic benefits of wind power.

Environmentalists Don’T Want Sears Island To Become A Wind Industry Hub

Midcoast environmental groups want to keep the pressure on the state as they advocate against building a floating offshore wind assembly, manufacturing and launching facility on Sears Island.

Stephen Miller, the executive director of the Islesboro Islands Trust, announced Wednesday morning that his organization has hired a Washington, D.C.-based consulting firm to analyze Searsport offshore wind facility options on Sears Island and on Mack Point on the mainland.

Last fall, a feasibility study commissioned by the Maine DOT determined that either Sears Island or Mack Point could be good sites for a marine terminal that would serve as a centralized hub.

The study’s engineers found that Sears Island, with a lower building cost, would be more practical for the offshore wind hub.

According to preliminary estimates, building a floating offshore wind port in two phases on Mack Point would take four years and cost around $449 million – more than $150 million more than it would to build the port on Sears Island.

Although many in the region are excited that the midcoast may find itself at the forefront of the new floating offshore wind industry, the potential to build on Sears Island hasn’t sat well with environmentalists.

According to the terms, the Maine Department of Transportation would set aside 340 acres of the island as a location for a future container port, which is where the proposed wind hub would be located if it’s built there.

Danes Share Knowledge Of Offshore Wind With N.H.

CONCORD – Jeff Lundbaek of the Danish Wind Industry Association shared a brief history of wind power in his country and offered assistance to members of New Hampshire’s Committee To Study Offshore Wind and Port Development during a meeting on March 7 at the Walker Building.

The state is considering a memorandum of understanding with the Danish Ministry of Climate, Energy, and Utilities for cooperation on offshore wind, drawing upon that kingdom’s 50-year history in the field to help craft the Northeast’s plan for a wind farm in the Gulf of Maine.

By 1991, Denmark began operating the world’s first wind farm and, eight years later, wind power was fully integrated into the kingdom’s energy market.

Lundbaek said his country wants to support offshore wind development in the United States to speed up the global move toward green energy, offering suggestions for the regulatory framework and infrastructure.

The draft memorandum of understanding aims to “Promote a mutually beneficial relationship with a view to sharing knowledge, experiences, data, and best practices relevant to the development of offshore wind energy.”

In discussing the MOU at the end of the meeting, members of the committee said Denmark’s 30 years of experience with offshore wind could provide a lot of data, particularly in the area of its effect on marine life.

Members of the fishing industry remain opposed to offshore wind on the grounds of the impact to their livelihoods and how marine life in the Gulf of Maine would fare.

Offshore Wind Research

For more than 8 years, NREL has worked with the U.S. Department of Energy to become an international leader in offshore wind energy research.

The U.S. Department of Energy Wind Energy Technologies Office has released the Offshore Wind Market Report: 2021 Edition, which was co-authored by several researchers at NREL. The report details information on the domestic offshore wind industry to provide a U.S. context and help navigate technical and market barriers and opportunities.

Leveraging our broad-based expertise and world-class facilities, NREL partners with industry, the research community, and other government agencies to map a swift, direct, and enduring route to commercially viable offshore development.

As offshore wind comes closer to deployment around the coastal United States, the research lead at NREL takes on the responsibility of outreach and information dissemination, as well as overseeing research to ensure the future of offshore wind in America.

Medical Tourism: Travel To Another Country For Medical Care

Traveling to another country to get medical care can be risky.

Medical tourism is when a person travels to another country for medical care.

Medical tourists from the United States commonly travel to Mexico and Canada, as well as countries in Central America, South America, and the Caribbean.

The most common procedures that people undergo on medical tourism trips include dental care, surgery, cosmetic surgery, fertility treatments, organ and tissue transplantation, and cancer treatment.

How to Minimize Medical Tourism Risks Get a pre-travel consultation If you are planning to travel to another country for medical care, see a your healthcare provider or travel medicine provider at least 4-6 weeks before the trip to discuss general information for healthy travel and learn about specific risks you may face because of your health status, the procedure, and travel before and after the procedure.

Maintain your health and medical records Bring copies of your medical records with you, including results of lab tests and any other tests done related to your condition and care.

Before you travel abroad for medical tourism make sure you can get any needed follow-up care in the United States.

Your Digital Destination For Healthcare Abroad

Although there are many benefits associated with medical tourism, there are also certain risks that must be weighed before making a final decision to travel abroad. .

Varying standards with regards to hospitals and physicians can be a problem if you are searching for options within multiple countries with dozens of hospitals.

As you have no way of actually visiting the hospital or meeting the physician prior to your trip, you will have to do research to make sure hospitals are accredited and surgeons are licensed.

Using simple preventive measures medical tourism patients can reduce the chance of blood clotting and increase their likelihood of surgical success.

Medical compression stockings and anti-clotting medications such as Warfarin and Heparin, may be prescribed by physicians for high risk medical tourism patients.

Also keep in mind that some hospitals may require a medical tourism patient to sign a legal waiver stating that if they do file a lawsuit over the surgery, the lawsuit must be adjudicated in the country where the medical procedure was performed.

This is one the biggest concerns for medical tourism patients considering traveling abroad for surgery.

Medical Tourism Guide: Countries, Benefits, And Risks

Medical tourism is a term that refers to traveling to another country to get a medical or dental procedure.

Medical tourism is successful for millions of people each year, and it is on the rise for a variety of reasons, including increasing healthcare costs in the United States, lack of health insurance, specialist-driven procedures, high-quality facilities, and the opportunity to travel before or after a medical procedure.

According to a New York Times article from January 2021, pent-up demand for nonessential surgeries, as well as the fact that many Americans lost their health insurance during the coronavirus pandemic led to a surge in medical tourism once other countries re-opened.

If you’re thinking of pursuing a medical procedure in another country, here’s what to know about the benefits and the risks.

A Word About Transplant Tourism Transplant tourism is one area of medical tourism that is strongly discouraged by organ and tissue transplant professionals in multiple countries.

What are popular countries for medical tourism? Mexico, India, Costa Rica, Turkey, Singapore, Canada, and Thailand are among the many countries that are popular for medical tourism.

How safe is medical tourism? Medical tourism is generally considered safe, but it’s critical to research the quality of care, physician training, and surgical specialties of each country.

Medical Tourism

Medical tourism most often is for surgeries or similar treatments, though people also travel for dental tourism or fertility tourism.

The avoidance of waiting times is the leading factor for medical tourism from the UK, whereas in the US, the main reason is cheaper prices abroad. Furthermore, death rates even in the developed countries differ extremely, i.e. UK versus seven other leading countries, including the US. Many surgical procedures performed in medical tourism destinations cost a fraction of the price they do in other countries.

While some countries currently presenting themselves as attractive medical tourism destinations provide some form of legal remedies for medical malpractice, these legal avenues may be unappealing to the medical tourist.

Israel’s popularity as a destination for medical tourism stems from its status as a developed country with a high-quality level of medical care, while at the same time having lower medical costs than many other developed countries.

Ctrip’s 2016 Online Medical Tourism Report indicates that the number of travelers who enroll in the oversea medical tourism through its platform increased fivefold over the previous year, and more than 500,000 Chinese visitors are expected to go on medical tourism.

Regular health checks made up the majority share of Chinese medical tourism in 2016, representing over 50% of all medical tourism trips for tourists originating in China.

In 2013 medical expenditure generated from medical tourists, mostly from more complex medical procedures, such as heart surgery, was S$832 million, a decline of 25 percent from 2012’s S$1.11 billion, as the hospitals faced more competition from neighbouring countries for less complex work.

American Medical Association

Medical tourists travel to address what they deem to be unmet personal medical needs, prompted by issues of cost, timely access to services, higher quality of care or perceived superior services, or to access services that are not available in their country of residence.

The care medical tourists seek may be elective procedures, medically necessary standard care, or care that is unapproved or legally or ethically prohibited in their home system.

Many medical tourists receive excellent care, but issues of safety and quality can loom large.

Medical tourism can leave home country physicians in problematic positions: Faced with the reality that medical tourists often need follow-up when they return, even if only to monitor the course of an uneventful recovery; confronted with the fact that returning medical tourists often do not have records of the procedures they underwent and the medications they received, or contact information for the foreign health care professionals who provided services, asked to make right what went wrong when patients experience complications as a result of medical travel, often having not been informed about, let alone part of the patient’s decision to seek health care abroad. Physicians need to be aware of the implications of medical tourism for individual patients and the community.

Advocate for appropriate oversight of medical tourism and companies that facilitate it to protect patient safety and promote high quality care.

Seek to familiarize themselves with issues in medical tourism to enable them to support informed decision making when patients approach them about getting care abroad. Help patients understand the special nature of risk and limited likelihood of benefit when they desire an unapproved therapy.

Offer their best professional guidance about a patient’s decision to become a medical tourist, just as they would any other decision about care.

Top 10 Medical Tourism Destinations In The World

For the health tourism destinations and healthcare providers, the competition is fierce, requiring an interplay of factors to drive medical travel and improve their brand in the medical tourism market.

Nothing in nutrition is black and white, and there are some concerns about sesame oil to be aware of.

Volatile compounds in sesame oil “Increase rapidly” when storing the oil at temperatures over 60°C. Sesame oil had a five-fold higher peroxidability index than olive oil.

Rocket Lab will build its next-generation Neutron launcher on Wallops Island, Virginia, at a site adjacent to the company’s coastal U.S. launch pad. Load Error.

California-based Rocket Lab has been sending small satellites aloft for several years now using its Electron rocket, which has launched exclusively from New Zealand to date.

The Virginia Neutron complex will include a facility for rocket production, assembly and integration, all within a short ride of Rocket Lab’s new launch pad at the southern end of Wallops Island.

The Commonwealth of Virginia will provide Rocket Lab with $30 million as part of “Infrastructure and operational systems” upgrades at the spaceport, according to the Feb. 28 statement.

Neutron itself attracted a $24 million development contract from the the U.S. Space Force’s Space Systems Command “In support of Neutron’s capability to aid national security and defense missions,” Rocket Lab stated.

Rocket Lab pledged that more Neutron expansion will occur as the program gets ready for its planned first launch in 2024.

Rocket Lab USA, Inc., a global leader in launch services, space systems and space solar power products, announced today that its next-generation solar cell technology is transitioning into qualification.

The IMM-β solar cell is expected to be the highest efficiency space solar cell technology in high-volume production.

The IMM-β is also a radiation-hard cell with a power remaining factor of 87% after exposure to 1-MeV electrons at a fluence of 1E15 e/cm 2 or equivalent of about 15 years life in GEO. Now undergoing final space qualification testing, the cells are expected to be ready for commercial use later in 2022.In addition to its best-in-class efficiency, IMM is more than 40% lighter than typical space grade solar cells which helps to make satellites more cost effective.

“In partnership with our colleagues at the Air Force Research Laboratory, we’re not only commercializing the world’s highest efficiency and lightest weight space solar cell, we’re doing so at the most competitive cost of any IMM technology to date. IMM-β’s impact on solar array and launch mass will make it a compelling option for satellite integrators.”

“The SolAero team has enabled trailblazing science missions to distant interplanetary destinations and powered commercial constellations of hundreds of satellites in low Earth orbit, and with the new IMM-β cells they can power the future of space exploration. Solar power is a crucial part of every spacecraft and SolAero is already home to the world’s largest production line of high-performing solar cells. Now with Rocket Lab’s resources and manufacturing capability behind them we look forward to scaling the business to meet the growing demands of the global space market.”

Founded in 1998 and acquired by Rocket Lab in 2022, Albuquerque, New Mexico-based SolAero has produced solar cells, solar panels, and composite structural products for more than 1,000 successful space missions with 100% reliability.

Over the past two decades, SolAero’s products have played key roles in some of the industry’s most ambitious space missions, including supplying power to NASA’s Parker Solar Probe, James Webb Space Telescope, and Mars Insight Lander, as well as several Cygnus Cargo Resupply Missions to the International Space Station.

Rocket Lab’S Neutron Will Be Built, Launched And Landed At Wallops Island, Virginia – TechCrunch

The new Neutron Production Complex will be located right inside NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility, on a 28-acre plot hosting approximately 250,000 square feet of interior space.

It’s a lot of space, but of course rockets are big, and Rocket Lab plans to make quite a lot of them.

“The intent here is the entire launch vehicle will be manufactured in that facility,” said Rocket Lab CEO and founder Peter Beck on a media briefing call Monday.

“The stage diameter is really quite large – we made that decision really early. We didn’t want to define the diameter by the largest bridge between Wallops and California.”

Beck spoke to the advantages of this large diameter back in December when the Neutron’s specs were first publicly revealed.

As a launch vehicle designed from the ground up for reusability, Neutrons will also return to Wallops after delivering their payloads and be refurbished in the same facility where they were born.

The state has earmarked some $45 million in funds to expand and improve the Wallops NASA facility, though the money is still working its way through the capitol, said Ted Mercer, head of the Virginia Commercial Space Flight Authority on the call.

Rocket Lab

Rocket Lab was founded in June 2006 by New Zealander Peter Beck, the company’s CEO and CTO. Internet entrepreneur and fellow New Zealander Mark Rocket was the seed investor and co-director from 2007 to 2011.

Rocket Lab claimed it became the first private company in the Southern Hemisphere to reach space after launching its Ātea-1 sounding rocket in November 2009.

In December 2019, they flight tested the reentry technology – a Rocket Lab proprietary aerothermal decelerator – on Electron flight number 10, and were able to decelerate the rocket and successfully bring it through the space-to-dense-atmosphere transition.

As of March 2020, Rocket Lab intended to build a new factory in the U.S. to build the rockets as well as new launch infrastructure for Neutron at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport in Virginia.

In 2012, Rocket Lab demonstrated a rocket propelled by a Viscous Liquid Monopropellant developed in work sponsored by DARPA and the Office of Naval Research.

Launch Complex 2 is located within the fence line of MARS Launch Pad 0A. In December 2019, construction of the launch pad was completed and Rocket Lab inaugurated the LC-2.

In March 2021, Rocket Lab announced that they would modify the pad infrastructure at Launch Complex 0A in order to be able to launch the medium-lift launch vehicle Neutron from LP-0A, with the initial launch planned for as early as 2024.

Post Idea #26: Molson Brewery

Related Articles – Summarized

Molson Coors Beverage Company

For over two centuries Molson Coors has been brewing beverages that unite people to celebrate all life’s moments.

While the company’s history is rooted in beer, Molson Coors offers a modern portfolio that expands beyond the beer aisle as well.

Molson Brewery

The Molson Brewery is a Canadian brewery and beer company in Montreal formed in 1786 by the Molson family.

Founded in Montreal in 1786, the Molson Brewery is the oldest brewery in North America and continues to produce beer on the site of the original brewery.

In 1903, inspired by the popularity of imported beers, Thomas’ grandson Herbert Molson and brew master John Hyde created Molson Export, an authentic ale brewed in the classic style, developed by John Molson.

The Molson family were pioneers in steamships, hospitality, assisted with the Montreal General Hospital, patrons of McGill University and the arts, and until 1925, involved in banking through Molson Bank which merged with the Bank of Montreal.

On 30 October 2019, the Molson Coors Brewing Company announced it would change its name to Molson Coors Beverage Company as a part of a restructuring to take place in 2020.

The company would reorganize its global business units, including Molson Coors Canada, into Molson Coors North America, headquartered in Chicago, and Molson Coors Europe, headquartered in Prague.

Along with the current majority ownership that the Molson brothers have of the team, the Molson company has owned all or portions of the Montreal Canadiens.

Molson Site: The Former Brewery’S Heritage Will Be Showcased

CNW Telbec/ – The Selection Group-MONTONI-Fonds immobilier de solidarité FTQ Consortium is pleased to present the preliminary vision of the redevelopment project for the former Molson Brewery site.

The central theme of the first phase of this nearly 6-million-square-foot historic mixed-use project in downtown Montréal will be showcasing the legacy and heritage of the Îlot des Voltigeurs, the oldest part of the site.

Several iconic elements of the former brewery, including the clock, the Molson sign and the chimney, as well as the new Molson Coors’ administrative offices, will be an integral part of the development concept.

The redevelopment of such a complex and historic site requires an exhaustive analysis of the heritage features of the building complexes and of the potential for enhancing the site’s existing structures.

Accordingly, the Consortium has since then conducted a thorough analysis of all of the land, guided by the ambition to revive the identity of the former Molson Brewery’s original site, the Îlot des Voltigeurs, along with its multiple historical strata, and enhance this Montréal industrial heritage site of national significance.

The concept, which meets the criteria of the Programme particulier d’urbanisme, received a positive response from the CCU. The Consortium is continuing its efforts aimed at developing the final project for the entire site by maintaining an open dialogue with project stakeholders, as well as with Molson Coors.

The entire site of the former Molson Brewery has the potential to incorporate up to 6,000 residential units to establish a vibrant and inclusive intergenerational neighbourhood as well as more than 1 million square feet of commercial and office space that will create a major employment and innovation hub for the city.

Héritage Montréal

The surrounding districts rapidly developed and the Molson family seized the opportunity to erect, on the rest of their property, new buildings, including a church, a college and housing, including the Molson Terrace, one of the first examples of row houses.

The Molson Brewery is an industrial complex composed of an eclectic ensemble of buildings of varying forms and materials that reflect the different periods of its construction.

In 2017, the Molson Brewery announced that it was moving its operations to Longueuil and leaving its Montreal complex behind.

While the project is still in its infancy, and the development of the site should be completed around 2035, we have already raised a few concerns about the Molson Brewery’s industrial heritage.

Since the site was sold to the promoters as is, its emblematic features, such as the smokestack and illuminated sign, should ideally be integrated into the project to preserve the memory of its industrial past and the important role that the Molson Brewery played in the development of the sector.

Heritage Montréal is very attached to the Molson brewery, which constitutes a formidable historical witness for the metropolis in addition to being an important landmark in the Montreal landscape.

In 2019, as part of its annual ArchitecTours, Heritage Montréal presented the history of Montreal brewers to the public, highlighting in particular the importance of the Molson brewery in the economic and architectural landscape of the metropolis.

Steve Jobs

Neither Jobs nor Fernandez came from engineering households and thus decided to enroll in John McCollum’s “Electronics 1.” McCollum and the rebellious Jobs would eventually clash and Jobs began to lose interest in the class.

Brennan suggested the name “Lisa” which Jobs also liked and notes that Jobs was very attached to the name “Lisa” while he “Was also publicly denying paternity.” She would discover later that during this time, Jobs was preparing to unveil a new kind of computer that he wanted to give a female name.

In the coming months, many employees developed a fear of encountering Jobs while riding in the elevator, “Afraid that they might not have a job when the doors opened. The reality was that Jobs’s summary executions were rare, but a handful of victims was enough to terrorize a whole company.” Jobs changed the licensing program for Macintosh clones, making it too costly for the manufacturers to continue making machines.

On August 24, 2011, Jobs announced his resignation as Apple’s CEO, writing to the board, “I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.” Jobs became chairman of the board and named Tim Cook as his successor as CEO. Jobs continued to work for Apple until the day before his death six weeks later.

According to Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, “Steve didn’t ever code. He wasn’t an engineer and he didn’t do any original design…” Daniel Kottke, one of Apple’s earliest employees and a college friend of Jobs’s, stated: “Between Woz and Jobs, Woz was the innovator, the inventor. Steve Jobs was the marketing person.”

Although the doctor did not help Jobs while he was alive, he left a letter for Jobs to be opened upon his death.

After hearing about the visit, Jobs recalled that “It was amazing … I had been to that restaurant a few times, and I remember meeting the owner. He was Syrian. Balding. We shook hands.” However, Jobs still did not want to meet Jandali because “I was a wealthy man by then, and I didn’t trust him not to try to blackmail me or go to the press about it … I asked Mona not to tell him about me.” Jandali later discovered his relationship to Jobs through an online blog.

Steve Jobs

Wozniak was building his own computer and in 1976 Jobs pre-sold 50 of the as-yet unmade computers to a local store and managed to buy the components on credit solely on the strength of the order, enabling them to build the Apple I without any funding at all.

The Apple II followed in 1977 and the company Apple Computer was formed shortly afterwards.

The Apple II was credited with starting the personal computer boom, its popularity prompting IBM to hurriedly develop their own PC. By the time production of the Apple II ended in 1993 it had sold over 6 million units.

In 1985 Jobs was fired from Apple and immediately founded another computer company, NeXT. Its machines were not a commercial success but some of the technology was later used by Apple when Jobs eventually returned there.

In 1996 Apple bought NeXT and Jobs returned to Apple, becoming its CEO. With the help of British-born industrial designer Jonathan Ive, Jobs brought his own aesthetic philosophy back to the ailing company and began to turn its fortunes around with the release of the iMac in 1998.

They assigned Steve Wozniak, who did all the engineering of the highly successful Apple II computer, the title Employee No. 1.

As a youth he lived at 2066 Crist Drive in Los Altos, where he started his Apple company in the attached family garage with pal Steve Wozniak.

Movie, Daughter & Death

As an infant, Jobs was adopted by Clara and Paul Jobs and named Steven Paul Jobs.

Not actually having had an official title with the company he co-founded, Jobs was pushed into a more marginalized position and thus left Apple in 1985.NeXT. After leaving Apple in 1985, Jobs began a new hardware and software enterprise called NeXT, Inc. The company floundered in its attempts to sell its specialized operating system to mainstream America, and Apple eventually bought the company in 1996 for $429 million.

In 1997, Jobs returned to his post as Apple’s CEO. Just as Jobs instigated Apple’s success in the 1970s, he is credited with revitalizing the company in the 1990s.

Lisa Brennan Jobs later wrote of her childhood and relationship with Jobs in her book Small Fry, published in 2018.

Jobs did not initiate a relationship with his daughter until she was 7 years old.

In August, he resigned as CEO of Apple, handing the reins to Cook.Steve Jobs’ Death and Last Words.

In a eulogy for Jobs, sister Mona Simpson wrote that just before dying, Jobs looked for a long time at his sister, Patty, then his wife and children, then past them, and said his last words: “OH WOW. OH WOW. OH WOW.”.

Rare Steve Jobs Items Hit The Auction Block

NEW YORK, March 8 – Items from the birth of Apple, home computing and video gaming are up for grabs at an auction, which will conclude on March 17.The top lot from “The Steve Jobs Revolution: Engelbart, Atari, and Apple” auction is a July 1976 check to pay $3,430 for parts for the Apple 1 computer, signed by Apple founders Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak.

“This is before they had any investors,” explained Bobby Livingston, executive vice president at RR Auction, which is conducting the sale.

“The reason it’s signed by both of them is in their charter. Any expenses over $1,000, they both had to agree and here’s the evidence.”

Register now for FREE unlimited access to Reuters.comThe auction includes many items relating to Jobs, including high school photos and an application he had filled out for a job at Atari, which will also come as an NFT.”Steve did not sign very many things. He didn’t like to sign objects. So his signature is very rare. It’s actually one of the rarest signatures that collectors are interested in. So any time something comes up with Steve’s signature on it, it goes for a lot of money,” said Steven Levy, editor at large for Wired magazine, which focuses on emerging technologies.

The auction house said the items, including a quarter taken from one of the first Atari Pong video game machines and a 1960s Douglas Engelbart mouse, help tell the story of computer history.

“What makes these computers and video games so special is they’re prototypes and they’re very early models that are difficult to find. These items are being consigned to us by people from the Silicon Valley that were there when this whole computer revolution started,” said Livingston.

Though Jobs had long, unkempt hair and eschewed business garb, he managed to obtain financing, distribution, and publicity for the company, Apple Computer, incorporated in 1977-the same year that the Apple II was completed.

Jobs had convinced Sculley to accept the position by challenging him: “Do you want to sell sugar water for the rest of your life?” The line was shrewdly effective, but it also revealed Jobs’s own near-messianic belief in the computer revolution.

Insanely great During that same period, Jobs was heading the most important project in the company’s history.

Jobs left the engineering team that was designing Lisa, a business computer, to head a smaller group building a lower-cost computer.

Apple steadily improved the machine, so that it eventually became the company’s lifeblood as well as the model for all subsequent computer interfaces.

History And Biography

An Italian businessman and fashion designer, co-founder of the Benetton Group company, one of the most popular and important fashion companies in the world.

After working for several years as a clerk in a clothing store, Benetton ventured as an entrepreneur selling the garments her sister made.

Benetton, who at that time was only nine years old, left school to work and be able to support his mother and three sisters.

In 1955, a young twenty-year-old Benetton proposed to his sister, who at the time worked weaving clothes for a workshop, who worked together and created their own business, she would cook and sell her work in various stores.

Thanks to their hard work and the recompense they had, they founded in 1965 the commercial firm Fratelli Benetton, together with their brothers Gilberto and Carlo.

LUCIANO BENETTON’S PATH. After creating his signature Fratelli Benetton with his three brothers, Benetton took command of the company in 1974, at which time the company was known nationally and internationally.

In a short time Edizione bought Nordica, a renowned sporting goods and clothing company for it, with which it was not only established as one of the most relevant companies in Italy, but also as one of the most complete fashion companies in the world.

Late CEO, History, Accomplishments

The skills attributed to the success of the company and their ability to cultivate revolutionary products lie in the culture left behind by the late CEO. Being able to see what consumers wanted and adapt accordingly defined the foundation of Apple.

Much of the humanity and spiritualism that influenced Jobs’s decisions also influenced the company, which can still be seen today in Apple’s own humanitarian efforts and the outspokenness of the Apple executive team.

His rocky history showed the public humanity inside of what otherwise would be a cold corporate face, which may attribute to the extensive and emotionally invested fan base around Apple today.

Seeking a way to revitalize the Mac, Apple purchased NeXT with the belief that the company could build a new Mac operating system based on NeXTSTEP. The December 1996 acquisition brought Steve Jobs with it, but only as an “Advisor” to the CEO. The stock was trading at an all-time low, and Gil Amelio, the current Apple CEO, was forced out by the board.

The iMac released in 1998 and was so well received by the public that it alone brought Apple back from the dead. A culmination of Jony Ive’s design and Jobs’s push for simplicity and a welcoming face, the colorful gumdrop shape became an icon for Apple.

Jobs did not return to work full time until late 2009.

Tim Cook ran the company in his stead until Steve Jobs officially resigned and appointed Cook as the new CEO in August.

Steve Wozniak

Wozniak has credited watching Star Trek and attending Star Trek conventions while in his youth as a source of inspiration for his starting Apple Inc. In 1969, Wozniak returned to the San Francisco Bay Area after being expelled from the University of Colorado Boulder in his first year for hacking the university’s computer system.

Jobs had little knowledge of circuit board design and made a deal with Wozniak to split the fee evenly between them if Wozniak could minimize the number of chips.

Jobs told Wozniak that Atari gave them only $700 and that Wozniak’s share was thus $350. : 147-148, 180  Wozniak did not learn about the actual $5,000 bonus until ten years later.

Starting in the mid-1980s, as the Macintosh experienced slow but steady growth, Apple’s corporate leadership, including Steve Jobs, increasingly disrespected its flagship cash cow Apple II series-and Wozniak along with it.

In a 2013 interview, Wozniak said that the original Macintosh “Failed” under Steve Jobs, and that it was not until Jobs left that it became a success.

In 1986, Wozniak lent his name to the Stephen G. Wozniak Achievement Awards, which he presented to six Bay Area high school and college students for their innovative use of computers in the fields of business, art, and music.

Steve Wozniak has been mentioned, represented, or interviewed countless times in media from the founding of Apple to the present.

Steve Wozniak: Steve Jobs Wasn’T A Natural-Born Leader, He Worked To ‘Develop His Communication’ Skills

The late Jobs has long been heralded as a “Genius” for the way he marketed and sold Apple products, most of which were designed and built by Wozniak in the company’s early days.

Wozniak tells CNBC Make It that his partner wasn’t always a marketing and communications guru – those were skills Jobs had to develop to compensate for not being a particularly skilled computer engineer.

Of course, Wozniak may have been spoiled after spending years working with Jobs.

A crucial part of that transformation, Wozniak now says, was watching Jobs “Develop his communication [skills].”

Wozniak says Jobs’ skills as a communicator and salesperson helped Apple successfully market products like the iPhone as user-friendly.

In a 2020 interview, Bill Gates said he was “So jealous” of Jobs for coming across as such a natural public speaker.

In 2020, Wozniak told “Guy Kawasaki’s Remarkable People” podcast that Jobs’ intense, relentless drive to become a successful communicator and leader came from his desire to ultimately be remembered as an important historical figure – and that motivation drove him to develop the appropriate skills for it.

Apple, Spouse & Steve Jobs

Steve Wozniak is an American computer scientist best known as one of the founders of Apple and the inventor of the Apple II computer.

In partnership with his friend Steve Jobs, Wozniak invented the Apple I computer.

Wozniak also personally developed the next model, Apple II, which established Apple as a major player in microcomputing.

The two later paired up to form Apple Computer on April 1, 1976, prompting Wozniak to quit his job at Hewlett-Packard.

Not long after Apple was founded, Wozniak created the Apple I, a design built largely in Jobs’ bedroom and garage.

Wozniak went on to conceive the Apple II as part of the company’s personal-computer series, and by 1983, Apple had a stock value of $985 million.

The highly anticipated biopic Jobs was released in 2013 and featured actor Ashton Kutcher as Apple co-founder Jobs and comedic actor Josh Gad as Wozniak.

Biography & Facts

Steve Wozniak, byname of Stephen Gary Wozniak,, American electronics engineer, cofounder, with Steve Jobs, of Apple Computer, and designer of the first commercially successful personal computer.

In 1971 Wozniak designed the “Blue Box,” a device for phreaking that he and Jobs, a student at his old high school whom he met about this time, began selling to other students.

While working as an engineering intern at Hewlett-Packard, Wozniak designed his own microcomputer in 1976 using the new microprocessor, but the company was not interested in developing his design.

Their initial capital came from selling Jobs’s automobile and Wozniak’s programmable calculator, and they set up production in the Jobs family garage to build microcomputer circuit boards.

The Apple II, which combined Wozniak’s brilliant engineering with Jobs’s aesthetic sense, was the first personal computer to appeal beyond hobbyist circles.

During these years, Wozniak designed new hardware components, such as the 3.5-inch floppy disk drive for the Apple II, and various components of the Apple operating system and its software applications.

Wozniak spent the ensuing decades engaged in philanthropic causes, especially involving the education of children, and in volunteer work teaching computer enrichment classes to preteens.

Steve Wozniak

For co-founding Apple Computer and inventing the Apple I personal computer “My dream was actually just to have a computer some day. If I’d imagined that it meant starting a company to sell them, I probably would have avoided the whole thing.”- Steve Wozniak.

Steve Wozniak was born in San Jose, California, in 1950.

Wozniak built his first computer when he was 13 years old, and was an electronics prodigy in high school.

Their next collaboration was a kit computer, designed by Wozniak, first shown at the Homebrew Computer Club in Menlo Park, California, in 1976.

Called the Apple i, it was meant for hobbyists, but the two Steves received an order for 50 assembled kits from a local store, suggesting to the business-savvy Jobs that there might be a market for personal computers.

Sales of the Apple ii were brisk and the newly formed Apple Computer became a large company.

Wozniak remains an Apple employee and has enjoyed a diverse career in teaching and entrepreneurship as well.

Last year, Wozniak noted that when the two men founded Apple, Jobs’ “Personality changed” from fun-loving friend to someone who was dead serious about building a world-changing company.

Wozniak says Jobs’ skills as a communicator and salesperson helped Apple successfully market products like the iPhone as user-friendly.

According to Wozniak, Jobs’ wasn’t a natural communicator.

The Eurocopter EC135 is a twin-engine civil light utility helicopter produced by Airbus Helicopters.

In 2011, Eurocopter formalised a license manufacturing agreement with Zhong-Ou International Group to produce the EC135 luxury helicopter in Zhejiang Province, China.

Two variants, the EC135 T3 and EC135 P3, were developed with improved high altitude and hover performance.

In September 2003, the 300th EC135 was handed over to UK-based McAlpine Helicopters; at this point, the EC135 was the best selling new light twin-engine helicopter in the UK market.

In 2011, Eurocopter announced that the 1,000th EC135 to be produced had been delivered to German operator ADAC, roughly 15 years following the start of production.

In June 2015, Airbus Helicopters delivered the first retrofitted H135 from the earlier EC135 standard; changes include an enlarged main rotor, relocated engine air intakes, elevated engine performance, and the horizontal stabiliser’s endplates removed and its span increased.

Eurocopter EC135

Twin-engine helicopter widely used amongst police, ambulance services and for executive transport.

Originally developed by MBB from their Bo.108, was handed over to the new company Eurocopter in the 1990s incorporating the Fenestron tail rotor in the process.

First flew on February 15, 1994, the EC135 has been powered by a Turbomeca Arrius or by a Pratt & Whitney Canada PW206 and is equipped with a bearingless main rotor.

Manufactured at Eurocopter s German site in Donauworth with first production aicraft delivered August 1, 1996 to DRF. The 1000th EC135 was rolled out in 2011.

Eurocopter EC 135

Still, the EC 135 has never really been thought of as an executive helicopter – at least not as its raison d’être.

The product portfolio starts with the diminutive single-engine EC 120 introduced in 1998 and continues with the AS 350, EC 130, EC 145, EC 155 and, finally, the EC 225 Super Puma, the largest helicopter in the Eurocopter family with room for up to 19 passengers and crew.

Overnight SuccessAt the program’s outset, Eurocopter wisely chose to offer two engines for the EC 135, the Turbomeca Arrius 2B and Pratt & Whitney Canada PW206B. These engines have since been upgraded to the more powerful Arrius 2B2 and PW206B2 versions, and the helicopters are now known as the EC 135 T2+ and P2+. The Pratt engines are the preferred choice of buyers in the United States, where Eurocopter in some ways is still seeking to establish itself against the likes of Bell Helicopter and Sikorsky.

The remarkable reduction in noise footprint that today is an EC 135 hallmark was achieved in several ways, the most important being the technology incorporated into the helicopter’s fenestron tail.

The acquisition and operating costs of the EC 135 compare favorably against the competition, and the exceptional handling qualities and single-pilot IFR capability contribute to a helicopter that, quite simply, can do everything it is supposed to do and more.

These are the reasons Eurocopter has high hopes for a rebirth of sorts for the model in the United States as a powerful player in the VIP helicopter market, which traditionally has been dominated by bigger helicopters.

To enable the helicopter’s high useful load, the EC 135 includes a takeoff and landing mode called HI NR, which automatically raises the rotor rpm to 103 percent.

Airbus

Fitted with a bearingless main rotor, Airbus’ signature Fenestron® shrouded tail rotor, engine software modifications, and a new lateral air intake, the H135 provides additional payload and delivers best-in-class performance throughout its flight envelope.

The H135 comes with the lowest operating and maintenance costs within the twin-engine category.

The H135’s state-of-the-art cockpit with its new 4-axis autopilot provides the highest-possible safety levels.

As one of the quietest twin-engine helicopters, the H135’s sound footprint is markedly lower than that of other rotorcraft in the same category.

The H135’s simple design makes maintenance fast and easy, ensuring reliable dispatch, less down time and lower operating costs.

With the lowest direct operating costs of any twin-engine rotorcraft, the H135 is the most attractive helicopter to operate in its class.

Its high level of availability and easy maintenance assists the H135 in such autonomous operations as helicopter emergency medical services, where a technician may not be located on base or stationed nearby.

In some cases, surgery may be appropriate if the disease doesn’t respond to drugs.

One option is deep brain stimulation, in which electrodes are implanted into the brain and connected to a small electrical device called a pulse generator to painlessly stimulate the brain to block signals that cause many of the motor symptomms of PD. DBS is generally appropriate for people with levodopa-responsive PD who have developed dyskinesias or other disabling “Off” symptoms despite drug therapy.

Tremor is the major symptom for some individuals, while for others tremor is only a minor complaint and other symptoms are more troublesome.

Current research programs funded by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke are using animal models to study how the disease progresses and to develop new drug therapies.

Key NINDS programs include the Parkinson’s Disease Biomarkers Program, which is aimed at discovering biomarkers-new ways to identify people at risk for developing PD and to track the progression of the disease; and the Accelerating Medicines Partnership for Parkinson’s Disease, in which the National Institutes of Health, multiple biopharmaceutical and life science communities, and nonprofit advocacy organizations work to identify and validate biomarkers for PD. The Facts About Parkinson’S Disease

Parkinson’s disease is a progressive neurogenerative disease that causes nerve cells in the area of the brain that controls movement to weaken and/or die.

Some patients with Parkinson’s disease also suffer from a decline in norepinephrine, a chemical that transmits signals across nerve endings and controls various functions, such as blood pressure and heart rate.

More than 10 million people worldwide are currently living with Parkinson’s disease and nearly one million will be living with the disease in the United States this year, according to the Parkinson’s Foundation.

Symptoms seen early on in PD can also develop during the late stages of dementia with Lewy bodies, a disease that causes problems with mood, thinking and movement and is characterized by abnormal protein deposits called Lewy bodies in the brain.

The cause is currently unknown, but some people with CBS have a build-up of tau in their brains similar to that of Alzheimer’s disease patients.

Your doctor may prescribe additional medications to relieve some of these side effects or to relieve the non-motor symptoms commonly associated with Parkinson’s disease.

A non-invasive option that is FDA-approved to treat tremor-predominant Parkinson’s disease as well as essential tremor.

Parkinson’S Disease

Cognitive and behavioral problems may also occur with depression, anxiety, and apathy occurring in many people with PD. Parkinson’s disease dementia becomes common in the advanced stages of the disease.

The synucleinopathy classification distinguishes it from neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease where the brain accumulates a different protein known as the tau protein.

The stage of the disease and the age at disease onset determine which group is most useful.

Early neurologists who made further additions to the knowledge of the disease include Trousseau, Gowers, Kinnier Wilson and Erb, and most notably Jean-Martin Charcot, whose studies between 1868 and 1881 were a landmark in the understanding of the disease.

Advocacy organizations include the National Parkinson Foundation, which has provided more than $180 million in care, research, and support services since 1982, Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, which has distributed more than $115 million for research and nearly $50 million for education and advocacy programs since its founding in 1957 by William Black; the American Parkinson Disease Association, founded in 1961; and the European Parkinson’s Disease Association, founded in 1992.

He has written two autobiographies in which his fight against the disease plays a major role, and appeared before the United States Congress without medication to illustrate the effects of the disease.

Dennis Dickson, a spokesperson for the Lewy Body Dementia Association, clarified the distinction by stating that diffuse Lewy body dementia is more commonly called diffuse Lewy body disease and refers to the underlying disease process.

Brompton P Line Folding Bike Review 2022

In theory, commuting to and from every location on a bike is a fun idea.

This isn’t my first experience with a collapsible bike, but after transforming the model from a compact bundle into a functioning bike and back with ease, Brompton takes the cake.

As someone with minimal upper body strength, that’s a major factor to consider when searching for a new bike.

The weight and nimbleness of the bike are perfect for threading through narrow openings, and the 4-speed gear system makes it agile and zippy like a road bike.

The new model also features a dual-locking seat post, so when it’s positioned halfway up, you can use the saddle as a handle for better control while you wheel your folded bike with you.

Under the saddle, you’ll find a rubber grip meant to serve as padding for when you throw the bike over your shoulder at a moment’s notice.

If your experience is anything like mine was, you may find yourself using this even more than your traditional bike.

Top 5 Best Paper Folding Machines – 2022 Review

Picking the best paper folding machines can be more complicated than you might first assume.

The good news is most paper folding machines clearly do the same thing, and it’s primarily the features, fold styles, and speeds that separate them more than anything.

Some paper folding machines on our list offer fast speeds and greater capacities for more extensive procedures, while others are more limited with slower speeds.

Paper folding machines start at around 1800 papers per hour and go up to over 8000 papers an hour.

There are many different ways of folding paper, and not every paper folding machine will do them all.

The best paper folding machines save businesses time and money while helping to complete various projects.

Whichever paper folding machine you desire, be sure to factor in the speed of folding, the different folding types, the device’s size, and the paper size and weight before ultimately deciding.

Folding Machine

A folding machine is a machine used primarily for the folding of paper.

Folding is the sharp-edged bending of paper webs or sheets under pressure at a prepared or unprepared bending point along a straight line according to specified dimensions and folding layouts.

Folding machine models vary in sophistication, with high-end machines capable of processing more complex folding jobs and unusual paper forms.

Ideally, knife folding is used with thick paper, for “Cross folds” or if the paper has been stitched during the folding process; stitched sheets can ruin high friction rollers.

Folding machines exclusively used for folding paper are commonly referred to as paper folders.

Entry-level paper folders require that the folding plates be adjusted manually, with fold settings specified on the folding plates.

These folders can have as many as sixteen folding plates or several knife folds depending on the imposition, these are adjusted manually or electronically, depending on the machine.

8 Things You Need To Know About Duty-Free Shopping

Often, you can’t avoid a long trek past a meandering duty-free shopping area before you get to your departure gate.

A new report from The Points Guy helps shed more light on this sometimes poorly understood shopping system, naming which international airports are best for which duty-free items.

The Basics of Duty-Free Shopping When shopping duty-free abroad, the “Duty,” or, more accurately, “Tax,” that you avoid is the tax that’s in effect where the airport is located.

When duty-free shopping in the U.S., the taxes you avoid are the state and local sales taxes, and/or the federal excise tax that apply to some products.

Although they’re often available when duty-free shopping, cameras, watches, and other electronics are almost always cheaper online via sites like Amazon, Best Buy, Costco, or Walmart, than at any duty-free shop.

Some countries allow arriving international travelers to use duty-free shops before leaving the airport, but the U.S. does not.

The fundamental key to duty-free shopping is knowing prices in the real world-what you’d pay at Amazon, Best Buy, Costco, Walmart, or wherever-and buying only the real deals when you recognize them.

Duty Free Shopping Online, Buy Duty Free Products Online From Air Canada

SECURITY RESTRICTIONS FOR TRAVELING WITH LIQUIDS AND GELS. Please be aware that many countries around the world have adopted measures limiting quantities of liquids, gels and aerosols permissible in carry-on baggage which could affect your duty free purchases of products that include hand lotions, cleansers, moisturizers, suntan lotions, liquor, perfume, cologne, shaving cream, etc.

Be sure to check the rules for the countries you are travelling to/from.

If you are connecting through an airport or country which has implemented the restrictions and has an In-Transit facility so you won’t have access to your checked luggage for stowing your duty free LAGs before you reach your final destination, you may not be allowed to carry them through security screening before boarding your next flight.

If you do keep your purchases with you on your next flight, they must be in containers of 100 ml/100 g or less, and they must all be placed together with the LAGs that you brought onto the flight in one clear, re-sealable plastic bag no larger than 1 litre.

On certain routes the governments have allowed the use of Secure Tamper Evident Bags to ease the purchase and handling of duty free LAGs.

If you would like to purchase LAGs* on this flight, and are connecting upon arrival, you may be eligible to have your LAGs placed in a STEB by your flight attendant to facilitate security screening at the arrival station.

All inbound Canada flights with a domestic or transborder connection.

Duty-Free Shop

A duty-free shop is a retail outlet whose goods are exempt from the payment of certain local or national taxes and duties, on the requirement that the goods sold will be sold to travelers who will take them out of the country.

Which products can be sold duty-free vary by jurisdiction, as well as how they can be sold, and the process of calculating the duty or refunding the duty component.

Tax Free World Association announced that in 2011 Asia-Pacific, with 35 percent of global duty-free and travel retail sales, has more duty free than Europe and Americas, with these regions accounting for 34 percent and 23 percent respectively.

Some countries impose duty on goods brought into the country, though they had been bought duty-free in another country, or when the value or quantity of such goods exceed an allowed limit.

The world’s largest airport by duty-free sales is South Korea’s Incheon Airport, with US$1.85 billion in 2016, narrowly overtaking Dubai Duty Free with 2016 sales of $1.82 billion.

Brendan O’Regan established the world’s first duty-free shop at Shannon Airport in Ireland in 1947; it remains in operation today.

Any traveller living in a country outside the EU VAT area is entitled to shop tax-free at participating shops in the EU. Tax free shopping differs from duty-free shopping as the traveller pays the VAT on goods in the shop in the usual way, and can then request a refund when exporting the goods.

Carboxymethyl Cellulose

In most cases, the response of a system is quantified by measuring the shear stress that develops in a system under the conditions of a controlled and specified shear rate for viscous flow or shear strain for pure elastic deformation.

Equivalently, the ratio of the shear stress to applied the shear rate is a constant independent of the applied shear rate.

Example of the concentration dependence of viscosity for sodium carboxymethyl cellulose as concentration is varied from roughly 0.10 to 2.0 wt.

Depicts the dependence of the intrinsic viscosity of a sodium carboxymethyl cellulose.

Impact of an added electrolyte on the intrinsic viscosity of a typical polyelectrolyte, in this case sodium carboxymethyl cellulose.

Finally, in addition to solution shear thinning due to alignment of chains by the applied shear field, the presence of labile association aggregates can yield a time-dependent apparent viscosity that is dependent on the recent shear history of the sample.

2.Although, strictly speaking, one should use the apparent viscosity extrapolated to zero shear in modeling the molecular-weight dependence of polymer solution viscosity, reasonably good master curves obtained at finite shear rates and at variable concentration can be used to provide decent pragmatic estimates of the molecular weight of a polymer sample.

Carboxymethyl Cellulose

An additional purification process is used to remove these salts to produce the pure CMC used for alimentary and pharmaceutical applications.

The functional properties of CMC depend on the degree of substitution of the cellulose structure, as well as the chain length of the cellulose backbone structure and the degree of clustering of the carboxymethyl substituents.

CMC is used in food under the E number E466 or E469 as a viscosity modifier or thickener, and to stabilize emulsions in various products including ice cream.

CMC is used extensively in gluten free and reduced fat food products.

Knitted fabric made of cellulose may be converted into CMC and used in various medical applications.

CMC powder is widely used in the ice cream industry, to make ice creams without churning or extremely low temperatures, thereby eliminating the need for the conventional churners or salt ice mixes.

CMC is a highly specific substrate for endo-acting cellulases, as its structure has been engineered to decrystallize cellulose and create amorphous sites that are ideal for endoglucanase action.

Carboxymethyl Cellulose: A Common Food Additive That May Damage The Gut

Most likely, you’ve never heard of carboxymethyl cellulose or cellulose gum.

Officially, carboxymethyl cellulose is a food additive used as a thickening, binding and emulsifying agent in foods and other products.

Similar to maltodextrin, another food additive I’ve discussed previously, carboxymethyl cellulose is approved for food use, yet research has uncovered some concerning effects from its consumption.

More concerning were reports that started to emerge suggesting gastrointestinal inflammation with consumption of carboxymethyl cellulose.

Further research using low doses of carboxymethyl cellulose in mice found increased inflammation, blood sugar dysregulation, obesity, and colitis.

A model of the human digestive tract also confirmed the findings that carboxymethyl cellulose changes human gut flora and induces intestinal inflammation.

Similar to other research, consumption of carboxymethyl cellulose was found to increase obesity, intestinal inflammation and negatively impact gut flora.
