Is a food processing technology that utilizes the growth and metabolic activity of microorganisms for the stabilization and transformation of food materials.

Although ancient humans developed fermentation primarily for the stabilization of perishable foods, the technology has evolved beyond food preservation into a tool for creating desirable organoleptic, nutritional, and functional attributes in food products.

Indicates folate concentrations of some fermented foods taken from US, French, and Dutch food databases.

Differences in folate concentrations found between food databases may be due to variations in food samples or due to different analytical methods.

Although fermentation can increase folate concentrations in food, other food processing techniques can lead to a substantial loss of folate in fermented food, mostly by leakage, oxidation, or both.

Regulatory Environment for Microbial Food CulturesThe use of food fermentation.

With the current level of scientific insight and the current demand for the highest possible food safety, food fermentations gradually have come under regulatory frameworks.

Fermentation In Food Processing

In food processing, fermentation is the conversion of carbohydrates to alcohol or organic acids using microorganisms-yeasts or bacteria-under anaerobic conditions.

More localised foods prepared by fermentation may also be based on beans, grain, vegetables, fruit, honey, dairy products, and fish.

When studying the fermentation of sugar to alcohol by yeast, Pasteur concluded that the fermentation was catalyzed by a vital force, called “Ferments”, within the yeast cells.

“Alcoholic fermentation is an act correlated with the life and organization of the yeast cells, not with the death or putrefaction of the cells”, he wrote.

Food fermentation is the conversion of sugars and other carbohydrates into alcohol or preservative organic acids and carbon dioxide.

Food fermentation serves five main purposes: to enrich the diet through development of a diversity of flavors, aromas, and textures in food substrates; to preserve substantial amounts of food through lactic acid, alcohol, acetic acid, and alkaline fermentations; to enrich food substrates with protein, essential amino acids, and vitamins; to eliminate antinutrients; and to reduce cooking time and the associated use of fuel.

Sterilization is an important factor to consider during the fermentation of foods.

Fermentation In Food Processing.

The process of fermentation destroys harmful microorganisms and chemicals in foods and restores them with beneficial bacteria.

Dairy products, grains, and some vegetables are some of the foods that are benefited from fermentation.

They are many kinds of fermentation processes involved but greatly there are three main processes of food fermentation are Lactic acid Fermentation, Ethanol Fermentation and Acetic acid Fermentation.

Temporary increase in gas and bloating are the main common reaction of food Fermentation where it results into the release of excess gas produced after probiotics will help to kill harmful gut bacteria and fungi.

Several hard foods area unit heat-treated once fermentation to reinforce food safety or to increase shelf-life.

Food fermentation microbes could manufacture vitamins or alternative bioactive molecules in place or inactivate anti- nutritional factors and nonetheless be absent at the time of consumption.

Fermentation is the process which helps to secrete all the harmful microorganisms in the body and turn them to essential beneficiary bacteria which helps for Digestion and absorption, Synthesis and availability of nutrients, Immune functions, Control the Mood and behaviour.

Fermented Foods Processing: Flavor, Preservation, And Health

Though fermentation is an ancient process used to prevent food from spoiling, it has recently exploded in popularity and has experienced rapid market growth due to reports that consuming fermented foods positively affects the gut microbiome and human health.

The annual value of fermented foods in the U.S. market includes wine at >$60 billion, cheese at >$30 billion, beer at >$90 billion and total alcohol at >$250 billion, bread at >$30 billion, fermented vegetables at >$500 million, fermented meats at approximately $2 billion, yogurt at >$7 billion, kombucha at approximately $2 billion, and kefir at approximately $1 billion.

The desirable flavor of fermented foods is predominantly due to the acid, sugar, and volatile flavor compounds.

There will be different flavors associated with different fermented foods, but the unique tastes and aromas will be due to sugar, acid, and volatile flavor compound composition.

According to Mike Maney, the director of technical services at GLK Foods, the largest sauerkraut producer in the world, “All of our sauerkraut is naturally fermented. We cut in excess of 120 tons of cabbage per hour and utilize high-speed color/vision sorters and lasers to sort out defects in the sliced cabbage. We automatically add salt in-line by weight to ensure product quality. We are confident that there will be continued growth in all fermented foods, especially sauerkraut. Every day there seems to be new findings regarding the benefits of fermented foods with respect to gut health, reducing inflammation in the body, and antioxidant properties.”

There will also be increased growth in fermented food markets as researchers learn more about the relationship between the composition of different fermented foods, the human gut microbiome, and human health.

Whether it is for health reasons, flavor, preservation, environmental concerns, or a combination of these reasons, fermented foods will continue to thrive and increase in the United States and in global markets.

The Role Of Fermentation In The Food Processing Industry – Klever

This process takes place when there are beneficial bacteria present that break down the starch and sugars in the food.

The lactic acid is also what gives fermented foods that very specific ‘tangy’ or ‘acidic’ taste.

For thousands of years, before the invention of refrigerators and freezers, the most common way to preserve food from spoiling was through fermentation.

Fermentation has existed since the Neolithic Era, some of the earliest documentation of fermentation being between 7000-6600 BCE in Jiahu, China.

Fermentation can also make food healthier and safer to consume.

The most commonly consumed fermented food and drink would be cheese, beer, wine, yogurt, cured sausage and sourdough bread. Many store-bought fermented foods, like sauerkraut or pickles, are not authentic as they are often preserved in vinegar instead of the traditional and naturally occurring beneficial bacteria.

Due to North America’s strict health and safety concerns, these foods are also often pasteurised, which robs the foods of their nutrients and minerals.

Fermentation Temperature Control Units

The process of fermentation is a segment of the food processing industry.

Food processing is the transformation of raw ingredients into marketable food products.

Fermentation in this context is a process that converts sugar to acids, gases, or alcohol which commonly occurs in yeast and bacteria.

To many people, fermentation simply means the production of alcohol where grains and fruits are fermented to produce beer and wine.

Fermentation is not only used in the food industry but is also widely common in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical industry.

The process of fermentation requires precise temperature control.

Delta T Systems temperature control equipment is connected to these applications and provides exact heating and/or cooling throughout the process.

Fermentation Definition, Types, Principle, Products, Stages, Limitations

The fermentation process takes place without oxygen which produces ATP. It converts NADH and pyruvate that is produced during the glycolysis process into NAD+ as well as various other molecules, based on the kind of fermentation.

Alcoholic fermentation is one of the most known of all the fermentation processes.

Homolactic fermentation is the most basic kind of fermentation.

Other types of fermentation include mixed acid fermentation, butanediol fermentation, butyrate fermentation, caproate fermentation, acetone-butanol-ethanol fermentation, and glyoxylate fermentation.

Most industrial fermentation utilizes the fed-batch or batch method however continuous fermentation may be more economical if several problems, such as the problem of maintaining sterility be overcome.

Fed-batch fermentation is a variant of batch fermentation, wherein certain ingredients are added to the fermentation.

Fermentation takes place when oxygen is not present and when there are beneficial microorganisms that get their energy via fermentation.

What Does It Mean And Why Should You Care?

CDC has updated select ways to operate healthcare systems effectively in response to COVID-19 vaccination.

Telemedicine is the use of electronic information and telecommunication technology to get the health care you need while practicing social distancing.

All you need is a phone or device with the internet to continue your medical care while protecting yourself and your healthcare provider from COVID-19.

To decrease your contact with healthcare facilities, other patients, and healthcare staff in order to reduce the risk of COVID-19 and keep you and your family healthy.

To contact your healthcare provider about the management of your health generally or about management of an existing health condition during the COVID-19 outbreak.

How do you connect with a healthcare provider to schedule a telemedicine visit?

Call your healthcare provider to check if they are offering telemedicine visits and what technology you need to have a telemedicine visit.

What Is Telemedicine?

Telemedicine allows health care professionals to evaluate, diagnose and treat patients at a distance using telecommunications technology.

Using telemedicine as an alternative to in-person visits has a host of benefits for patients and providers alike.

Telemedicine can be defined as the use of technology by a medical professional to diagnose and treat patients in a remote location.

Telemedicine can be a valuable tool in connecting providers with patients to make sure they get the support they need to be successful.

There are currently about 200 telemedicine networks, with 3,500 service sites in the US. In 2011 alone the Veterans Health Administration delivered over 300,000 remote consultations using telemedicine.

For Medicare patients, national telehealth policy sets many restrictions on patient location, services provided over telemedicine and facilities at which patients receive these services.

In order to be effective, telemedicine technologies must be easy to use for both patients and providers.

What Is Telehealth?

Telehealth – sometimes called telemedicine – lets your doctor provide care for you without an in-person office visit.

You can get a variety of specialized care through telehealth.

Your doctor will decide whether telehealth is right for your health needs.

Ask your doctor’s office what your telehealth options are, especially if you concerned about the health risk of COVID-19.

Telemedicine: Progress Made During Pandemic Offers Chance For Widespread Adoption

An important part of these responses was the rapid development and implementation of telemedicine strategies – digitally delivered assessment and treatment approaches.

At a recent investigator meeting for the NIH Helping to End Addiction Long-termSM Initiative, or NIH HEAL InitiativeSM, researchers shared experiences with telemedicine approaches in their programs in both substance misuse and pain treatments that do not require physical interactions.

During the pandemic, some NIH HEAL Initiative investigators even set up “Zoom rooms” within their facilities that could be used by individual patient participants, with the treatment provider on a computer in a separate room.

Numerous virtual treatment approaches have been implemented during the pandemic.

Initiative-funded researchers are working in rural areas in Massachusetts, Washington, and New Hampshire to use telemedicine follow-up for medication-based treatment for opioid use disorder and related health problems like infections.

Preliminary reports suggest that telemedicine approaches are viewed favorably not only by patients but also by diverse treatment providers and other stakeholders from a variety of settings.

With social distancing and other restrictions loosening as COVID-19 comes under better control, will the innovative telemedicine approaches developed during the pandemic be phased out? Some researchers and clinicians, such as D’Amico, have already decided not to return to in-person settings.

Telehealth

Telehealth could include two clinicians discussing a case over video conference; a robotic surgery occurring through remote access; physical therapy done via digital monitoring instruments, live feed and application combinations; tests being forwarded between facilities for interpretation by a higher specialist; home monitoring through continuous sending of patient health data; client to practitioner online conference; or even videophone interpretation during a consult.

In the United States, medical abortion was introduced as a telehealth service in Iowa by Planned Parenthood of the Heartland in 2008 to allow a patient at one health facility to communicate via secure video with a health provider at another facility.

In the United States, eighteen states require the clinician to be physically present during the administration of medications for abortion which effectively bans telehealth of medication abortion: five states explicitly ban telemedicine for medication abortion, while thirteen states require the prescriber to be physically present with the patient.

Telehealth allows the patient to be monitored between physician office visits which can improve patient health.

In Alaska the Federal Health Care Access Network, which connects 3,000 healthcare providers to communities, engaged in 160,000 telehealth consultations from 2001 and saved the state $8.5 million in travel costs for just Medicaid patients.

They will have to be fully agreed upon, for example, will all clinicians need full licensing in every community they provide telehealth services too, or could there be a limited use telehealth licence? Would the limited use licence cover all potential telehealth interventions, or only some? Who would be responsible if an emergency was occurring and the practitioner could not provide immediate help – would someone else have to be in the room with the patient at all consult times? Which state, city or country would the law apply in when a breach or malpractice occurred?

The rate of adoption of telehealth services in any jurisdiction is frequently influenced by factors such as the adequacy and cost of existing conventional health services in meeting patient needs; the policies of governments and/or insurers with respect to coverage and payment for telehealth services; and medical licensing requirements that may inhibit or deter the provision of telehealth second opinions or primary consultations by physicians.

Flight Jacket

A flight jacket is a casual jacket that was originally created for pilots and eventually became part of popular culture and apparel.

Some heavy bombing raids in Europe during World War II took place from altitudes of at least 25,000 ft, where ambient temperatures could reach as cold as −50 °C. The cabins of these aircraft were uninsulated, so a warm, thick flight jacket was an essential piece of equipment for every member of the crew.

The two most historical American flight jackets are the A-2 jacket and the G-1.

In 1993, a uniform flight jacket was worn as the “National costume” of the United States for the APEC meeting held in Seattle, Washington.

Flight jacket has had a resurgence in popularity during the 2010s in street fashion, and is a notable staple of celebrities such as Kanye West.

Besides serving as an identity of university/college students, the letterman jacket was modified and became a popular casual wear in the hip-hop fashion segment during the early 2000s and started to evolve into the bomber jacket.

The military bomber jacket was made to be versatile for functionality as it was a lightweight jacket that kept aircrews warm.

Real Time Location System For Hospitals

What Is RTLS? In healthcare, a Real-Time Location System is a system used to provide immediate or real-time tracking and management of medical equipment, staff and patients within all types of patient care environments.

A Real-Time Location System can promote patient safety by reducing room for such risks.

CenTrak’s Medical Scope Management Solution using a Clinical-Grade Real-Time Location System can automatically track and create alerts through every stage of this cleaning process.

A real-time location system for hospitals can help to mitigate the effects of the shortage and help hospital executives do more with less.

CenTrak’s RTLS system does not need to be hard-wired for installation, like many other systems on the market.

Having to hard-wire a system during installation can drive costs up significantly due to the amount of time and work it takes to integrate the system properly.

When your healthcare facility is ready for more advanced workflow applications, CenTrak’s battery-operated Real-Time Location System infrastructure may be added in strategic, mission-critical areas.

Real-Time Locating Systems In Healthcare: A Condensed Primer

This paper provides a condensed primer of RTLS in healthcare, briefly covering the many options and technologies that are involved, as well as the various possible applications of RTLS in healthcare facilities and their potential benefits, including capital expenditure reduction and workflow and patient throughput improvements.

These latter applications vary from simple RTLS end-user interfaces for querying and displaying location information of tagged entities to more comprehensive integration into existing business/enterprise systems such as hospital ADT systems and HIS, operating room systems, bed management systems, etc.

Locating at room level: RTLS returns tag location as present in a specific room, e.g., if a nurse presses the panic button to summon security assistance in the event of a physical attack on her, the location engine reports the nurse’s exact room in the hospital to the security personnel;.

Locating at sub-room level: RTLS locates tag to a specific part of the room, e.g., in hospital rooms accommodating multiple patients, such as dual-bed rooms and larger wards, if a nurse is carrying a tag, the location engine can report how much time the nurse has spent by each patient’s bedside or cubicle;.

A similar low-cost system for care homes can record each time care assistants attend to residents in their rooms [1,7]. Moreover, in older care homes, RTLS can provide information about residents’ mobility around the home are stored in the computer system), which can be used as an indicator of residents’ overall well-being and in detecting problems, such as when an older resident has not left his/her room or visited a toilet within a pre-set period of time.

Using an RTLS also allows quickly locating equipment that is due for maintenance, testing or inspection, as well as a closer synchronisation of housekeeping with patient discharge, enabling faster bed turnaround rates as part of a hospital bed management system.

In addition to the nurse tracking system, a nurse call system was also required for the new wards, and it was decided that the nurse call system and the RTLS systems should be integrated.

Real-Time Locating System

Real-time locating systems, also known as real-time tracking systems, are used to automatically identify and track the location of objects or people in real time, usually within a building or other contained area.

Two primary system design elements are locating at choke points and locating in relative coordinates.

With RTLS, they would have more accurate data regarding who had been exposed to the virus, potentially reducing the need for quarantines… aid in process improvement efforts by automatically tracking and time stamping the progress of people or assets through a process, such as following a patient’s emergency room wait time, time spent in the operating room, and total time until discharge.

What is an AGV? Definitions you might see online at various websites An automatic guided vehicle system consists of one or more computer-controlled, wheel-based load carriers that runs on the plant or warehouse floor without the need for an onboard operator or driver.

An automated guided vehicle or automatic guided vehicle is a mobile robot that follows markers or wires in the floor, or uses vision or lasers.

They are most often used in industrial applications to move materials around a manufacturing facility or a warehouse.

The term “Driverless” is often used in the context of automatic guided vehicles to describe industrial trucks, used primarily in manufacturing and distribution settings, that would conventionally have been driver-operated A materials handling system that uses automated vehicles such as carts, pallets or trays which are programmed to move between different manufacturing and warehouse stations without a driver.

These systems are used to increase efficiency, decrease damage to goods and reduce overhead by limiting the number of employees required to complete the job.

The user interface provides: – A material movement request for the vehicle – Alarm management – alarms for vehicles, communication, I/O, etc.

Report management – to analyze system alarms and vehicle utilization to improve overall operation.

Automated Guided Vehicles

Automated Guided Vehicle systems from Dematic are fully autonomous robots that move and transport items in production, warehouse, and distribution centers without manual intervention or permanent conveying systems.

Dematic AGV Systems follow configurable guide paths to optimize storage, picking, and transport functions in a wide variety of environments where space is at a premium.

Our unmatched portfolio of AGV systems boost productivity, limit product damage, reduce labor costs, and scale to support growing automation operations.

Automatic Guided Vehicles

Material handling AGVs, automatic guided carts and transfer carts are used to replace repetitive manual labor jobs.

Some AGVs are guided by lasers, but fixed path and free-range systems are more common.

Other less common AGV systems include: camera guided AGVs, optical guided AGVs, forked AGVS, unit load AGVs, inertial guided AGVs, automated guided carts, towing vehicles and outrigger AGVs.Laser guided AGVs rely on mounted laser scanners to function accurately.

Camera guided AGVs use onboard cameras to see their surroundings while performing.

Optical guided AGVs receive guidance from photosensitive tape that operators adhere to facility floors.

To help them know where they are on the track, optical guided AGVs can measure distance between established stop locations using wheel odometers.

Inertial guided AGVs rely on magnets mounted under the floor to get their sense of direction.

Automated Guided Vehicles Meaning & Types

In this post, we’ll explore the various types of AGVs, the meaning of them, how they work and their benefits.

Many AGVs are similar to other human-operated vehicles but are designed to operate without direct human intervention or guidance.

An automatic guided cart is the most basic type of AGV with minimal features.

Autonomous mobile robots are typically more technologically advanced than other types of AGVs.

AGVs are self-propelled vehicles with movement guided by software and sensors.

The lasers reflect off of the tape within the line of sight and used to calculate the object’s angle and distance from the AGV.Inertial navigation – some AGVs are controlled by a computer system with the aid of transponders embedded into the facility floor to verify that the AGV is on the proper course.

Another way zone control can be used is by equipping each AGV with its own transmitter, allowing it to send a “Do not enter” signal to other AGVs approaching the zone.

Automated Guided Vehicle: What Is It? What Does It Do? Types

Automated guided vehicles or mobile robots are types of guided robotic systems that are not bounded by a fixed range of motion.

Forklift AGV: Forklift automated guided vehicles are simply an automated guided vehicle navigation system integrated into a forklift.

Underride AGV: Underride automated guided vehicles or automated guided cart is a type of AGV that lifts the load by driving underneath a basket or cart and lifts it slightly.

These types of sensors are typical with robotic arms as well.

There are different types of navigation systems that can be created with the combinations of sensors, controllers, programs, and algorithms.

An alternating current flows through the wire which generates electromagnetic waves that can be detected by the mounted sensors at the bottom of the automated guided vehicle.

Conclusion: Automated guided vehicles or mobile robots are types of guided robotic systems that are not bounded by a fixed range of motion.

The AGVE Group has received an order for an AGV-system including 16 large conveyor vehicles for the Volvo Car Group in Sweden.

Automated Guided Vehicle

Lower cost versions of AGVs are often called Automated Guided Carts and are usually guided by magnetic tape.

The AGV uses these transponders to verify that the vehicle is on course.

A gyroscope is able to detect the slightest change in the direction of the vehicle and corrects it in order to keep the AGV on its path.

A problem with this method is if one zone goes down all the AGV’s are at risk to collide with any other AGV. Zone control is a cost efficient way to control the AGV in an area.

AGVS Hybrid Vehicles are adapted from a standard man-aboard truck so that they can run fully automated or be driven by a fork truck driver.

More AGV use battery power and automated battery swap, which reduces emissions and lowers refueling costs but cost more to purchase and have shorter range.

Because automatic guided vehicles can deliver efficient, cost effective movement of materials, AGVs can be applied to various industries in standard or customized designs to best suit an industry’s requirements.

Worlds Chat

Worlds Chat is an online virtual reality based chat program introduced in April 1995 by the company Worlds Inc, and as of July 2021 is currently online.

Worlds Chat was the first program Worlds Inc. made available to the general public, and it was offered free of charge for download from their website.

The popularity of the program and Worlds Inc.’s other successes, such as Tamiko Thiel’s work with Steven Spielberg to create Starbright World, allowed Worlds Inc. to procure a minority investment of $5.6 million from Pearson PLC in June 1995.

The Worlds Chat user was allowed to choose from a gallery of existing three-dimensional avatars to be their representation in the virtual world.

The first release of VRML, a standard for defining virtual worlds, was less than six months old when Worlds Chat was released.

This meant that Worlds Inc. needed to discover and define its own best practices while creating Worlds Chat.

In 2011 Tamiko Thiel, a creative director and producer and Worlds Inc. from 1994 to 1996, wrote an article entitled “Cyber-Animism and Augmented Dreams” describing the history of virtual worlds, in which she wrote: “In the virtual worlds and avatar communities in the mid 1990s we thought we all would start parallel, virtual, online existences in which we could create ourselves anew and realize our personal dreamworlds. The technology however was too awkward, the processors and the Internet connections too slow, and the user base for our worlds never extended beyond a small dedicated community. By 2002 the virtual communities of the first generation all went bankrupt or looked for other ways to earn money.”

About The U.S. Courts Of Appeals

In the federal system, 94 district courts are organized into 12 circuits, or regions.

Each circuit has its own Court of Appeals that reviews cases decided in U.S. District Courts within the circuit.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit brings the number of federal appellate courts to 13.

The Supreme Court of the United States hears about 100 to 150 appeals of the more than 7,000 cases it is asked to review every year.

That means the decisions made by the 12 Circuit Courts of Appeals across the country and the Federal Circuit Court are the last word in thousands of cases.

The appellate courts do not retry cases or hear new evidence.

Appellate courts review the procedures and the decisions in the trial court to make sure that the proceedings were fair and that the proper law was applied correctly.

United States Courts Of Appeals

The United States courts of appeals or circuit courts are the intermediate appellate courts of the United States federal judiciary.

The courts are divided into 13 circuits that each hear appeals from the district courts within their borders, or in some instances from other designated federal courts and administrative agencies.

The United States courts of appeals are considered the most powerful and influential courts in the United States after the Supreme Court.

The Federal Circuit hears appeals from specialized trial courts, primarily the United States Court of International Trade and the United States Court of Federal Claims, as well as appeals from the district courts in patent cases and certain other specialized matters.

Although the courts of appeals are frequently called “Circuit courts”, they should not be confused with the former United States circuit courts, which were active from 1789 to 1911, during the time when long-distance transportation was much less available, and which were primarily first-level federal trial courts that moved periodically from place to place in “Circuits” in order to serve the dispersed population in towns and the smaller cities that existed then.

In 1948, Congress renamed all of the courts of appeals then existing to their current formal names: the court of appeals for each numbered circuit was named the “United States Court of Appeals for the Circuit”, and the “United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia” became the “United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit”.

The Federal Circuit was created in 1982 by the merger of the United States Court of Customs and Patent Appeals and the appellate division of the United States Court of Claims.

United States Court Of Appeals

The United States courts of appeals are the intermediate appellate courts of the United States federal courts.

Decisions of the federal appeals courts can, in turn, be appealed to the Supreme Court of the United States.

The Federal Circuit hears appeals from specialized trial courts, primarily the Court of International Trade and the Court of Federal Claims, as well as appeals from the district courts in patent cases and certain other specialized matters.

Historically, certain classes of cases held a right of automatic appeal to the Supreme Court of the United States; that is, one of the parties to the case could appeal a decision of a court of appeals and the Supreme Court had to accept the case.

The Second Circuit, sitting en banc, attempted to use this procedure in United States v. Penaranda, as a result of the Supreme Court’s decision in Blakely v. Washington, but the Supreme Court dismissed the certificate after resolving the same issue in another case that had come to the Court through the standard procedure.

When the courts of appeals were created in 1891, one was created for each of the nine circuits then existing, and each court was named the “United States Circuit Court of Appeals for the Circuit.” When a court of appeals was created for the District of Columbia in 1893, it was named the “Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia,” and it was renamed the “United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia” in 1934.

In 1948, Congress renamed all of the courts of appeals then existing to their current formal names: the court of appeals for each numbered circuit was named the “United States Court of Appeals for the Circuit,” and the “United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia” became the “United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.” The Tenth Circuit was created in 1929 by subdividing the existing Eighth Circuit, and the Eleventh Circuit was created in 1981 by subdividing the existing Fifth Circuit.

Tribunal Safeguards Development Of Intellectual Property-Cooperation-EnglishChannel

Thanks to the successful pilot running of a national level appeal hearing mechanism, China has increasingly become a preferred litigation location for international intellectual property cases.

During its 3 years pilot running period, the IP tribunal of China’s Supreme People’s Court has accepted 9,458 cases on appeal and concluded 7,680 of them, according to a report delivered by Zhou Qiang, president of the Supreme People’s Court, on February 27.

More than one tenth of the cases handled by the tribunal are foreign related cases, according to the report.

Established in 2019, the tribunal is empowered to hear appeals on patents and other technology-related IP cases, as well as anti-monopoly cases, as part of the country’s efforts to strengthen the protection of intellectual property rights and foster a world-class business environment.

The performance of the tribunal has also won high appraisal from the World Intellectual Property Organization, International Court of Justice, and International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property.

Chinese courts will also be strengthening the protection of sci-tech innovations and enhance the judicial protection of intellectual property rights for core technologies in key fields and emerging industries, said Zhou, adding that more concrete measures will be taken to maintain fair market competition.

He said the country will actively take part in global governance of intellectual property, so as to drive development of the global IP governance system in a more just and equitable direction.

LOS ANGELES, March 9, 2022 /PRNewswire/ – Therabody ®, the global pioneer in wellness technology, today announced the filing of a lawsuit against the TJX Companies and five additional lawsuits against unauthorized Amazon resellers for patent and trademark infringement on its hero product, Theragun®, and related proprietary technologies.

“We partner with world-class retailers to educate their sales associates and consumers on the benefits of our proprietary products. It is disappointing and surprising when a large, sophisticated retailer such as T.J. Maxx not only chooses to sell knockoff triangle-shaped devices that infringe our patents but also devices that use our trademarked Theragun name. We believe that infringing products like these intentionally trade on Therabody’s name and reputation, and they hurt our brand and deceive consumers who think they are getting the benefits of a Theragun, but end up with inferior products.”

Since 2020, Therabody has successfully removed more than 1,000 unauthorized resellers from the global e-commerce platform that offered products that were ineligible for Therabody’s limited warranty.

Therabody filed a lawsuit against Hydragun for false advertising and trade libel, and Therabody’s Founder and Chief Wellness Officer, Dr. Jason Wersland, personally filed a lawsuit against Hydragun for violation of common law and statutory right of publicity for using his face and likeness in their advertising.

About Therabody Therabody is a pioneer in the wellness technology space, developing products and services that optimize human performance and unlock the body’s natural ability to achieve health and well-being.

The company continues to pave the way with its innovative ecosystem of wellness solutions, including pneumatic compression, electrical stimulation, vibration therapy, and USDA Certified Organic CBD. Therabody Files Six Lawsuits To Protect Its Intellectual Property

Therabody announced the filing of a lawsuit against the TJX Companies and five additional lawsuits against unauthorized Amazon resellers for patent and trademark infringement on its Theragun and related proprietary technologies.

Filed in the U.S. District Courts of California, Delaware, Florida, Texas, and New York, the lawsuits are in addition to the ten suits already pending against manufacturers and retailers for patent, trademark and trade dress infringement.

The latest lawsuit against the TJX Companies, which operates T.J. Maxx, HomeGoods and Marshalls, adds to a total of four active lawsuits against the discount retailer conglomerate.

The existing lawsuits were filed on the grounds of patent, trademark and trade dress infringement, unfair competition, false designation of origin, trademark dilution, aiding and abetting, and civil conspiracy.

The five lawsuits filed against unauthorized resellers on Amazon’s marketplace assert claims of trademark infringement, unfair competition and deceptive trade practices in relation to the Theragun Pro, Theragun Elite and Theragun Prime.

Since 2020, Therabody has successfully removed more than 1,000 unauthorized resellers from the global e-commerce platform that offered products that were ineligible for Therabody’s limited warranty.

What Is Intellectual Property?

Intellectual property refers to creations of the mind, such as inventions; literary and artistic works; designs; and symbols, names and images used in commerce.

Generally speaking, a patent provides the patent owner with the right to decide how – or whether – the invention can be used by others.

In exchange for this right, the patent owner makes technical information about the invention publicly available in the published patent document.

On April 26 every year we celebrate World Intellectual Property Day to promote discussion of the role of IP in encouraging innovation and creativity.

Intellectual Property

Jewish law includes several considerations whose effects are similar to those of modern intellectual property laws, though the notion of intellectual creations as property does not seem to exist – notably the principle of Hasagat Ge’vul was used to justify limited-term publisher copyright in the 16th century.

“These exclusive rights allow owners of intellectual property to benefit from the property they have created, providing a financial incentive for the creation of an investment in intellectual property, and, in case of patents, pay associated research and development costs. In the United States Article I Section 8 Clause 8 of the Constitution, commonly called the Patent and Copyright Clause, reads;”The Congress shall have power ‘To promote the progress of science and useful arts, by securing for limited times to authors and inventors the exclusive right to their respective writings and discoveries.

Although the relationship between intellectual property and human rights is a complex one, there are moral arguments for intellectual property.

Violation of intellectual property rights, called “Infringement” with respect to patents, copyright, and trademarks, and “Misappropriation” with respect to trade secrets, may be a breach of civil law or criminal law, depending on the type of intellectual property involved, jurisdiction, and the nature of the action.

The World Intellectual Property Organization recognizes that conflicts may exist between the respect for and implementation of current intellectual property systems and other human rights.

In 2001 the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights issued a document called “Human rights and intellectual property” that argued that intellectual property tends to be governed by economic goals when it should be viewed primarily as a social product; in order to serve human well-being, intellectual property systems must respect and conform to human rights laws.

Stephan Kinsella, an anarcho-capitalist on the right-wing of libertarianism, argues against intellectual property because allowing property rights in ideas and information creates artificial scarcity and infringes on the right to own tangible property.

Intellectual Property Definition

The concept of intellectual property relates to the fact that certain products of human intellect should be afforded the same protective rights that apply to physical property, which are called tangible assets.

Intellectual property can represent a competitive advantage and as a result, is fiercely guarded and protected by the companies that own the property.

Attached to intellectual property are certain rights, known as Intellectual Property Rights, that cannot be infringed upon by those without authorization to use them.

The value of the property tends to be reflected in the price of the stock since market participants are aware of the existence of the intellectual property.

What Are the 4 Main Types of Intellectual Property? The four main types of intellectual property are patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.

Intellectual property ownership can be determined differently for different types of property and under varying circumstances.

What Is Intellectual Property Used For? Intellectual property can be used for various reasons, such as branding and marketing, as well as to protect assets that give a competitive advantage.

Refrigerant

A refrigerant is a working fluid used in the refrigeration cycle of air conditioning systems and heat pumps where in most cases they undergo a repeated phase transition from a liquid to a gas and back again.

From 2011 the European Union started to phase out refrigerants with a global warming potential of more than 150 in automotive air conditioning such as the refrigerant HFC-134a which has a GWP of 1550.

The ideal refrigerant would be: non-corrosive, non-toxic, non-flammable, with no ozone depletion and global warming potential.

R-744 CO2 Carbon dioxide 1 1 in use Was used as a refrigerant prior to the discovery of CFCs and now having a renaissance due to it being non-ozone depleting, non-toxic and non-flammable.

R-123 refrigerant was used to retrofit some chiller that used R-11 refrigerant Trichlorofluoromethane.

Refrigerant reclamation is the act of processing used refrigerant gas which has previously been used in some type of refrigeration loop such that it meets specifications for new refrigerant gas.

In the United States, the Clean Air Act of 1990 requires that used refrigerant be processed by a certified reclaimer, which must be licensed by the United States Environmental Protection Agency, and the material must be recovered and delivered to the reclaimer by EPA-certified technicians.

Refrigerant Definition & Meaning

Bob Sandrick, cleveland, 26 Feb. 2022 Hazlet Township police received a report from the store around 6:45 a.m. Wednesday about a leak of Freon, a gas used as a refrigerant in air conditioning, the police department said in a statement on Facebook.

Marlene Lenthang, NBC News, 29 Dec. 2021 On Earth, the moving parts of the compressor are coated with oil that lubricates, cools rubbing parts and helps with pressurizing gasified refrigerant.

Shi En Kim, Smithsonian Magazine, 28 July 2021 Although the number of refrigerant molecules in the atmosphere is far fewer than those of other greenhouse gases, their destructive force, molecule for molecule, is far greater.

Shi En Kim, Smithsonian Magazine, 28 July 2021 Finally, the refrigerant evaporates into a gas and flows back to the compressor to start its journey again.

Aurora Almendral, Quartz, 7 Feb. 2022 Critics have charged that the restrictions will hurt consumers whose air conditioners and refrigerators run on the affordable refrigerant.

Ethan Siegel, Forbes, 7 July 2021 To attain the contest’s goal of five times less impact on climate, an air conditioner using a standard HFC refrigerant would have to use 6.4 times less electricity than the baseline unit.

Josh Siegel, Washington Examiner, 21 Dec. 2020 Other materials include a cannibalized empty refrigerant can, trailer hitch, steel bar, steel wire, fender washers and piezo microphone along with FM transmitter, solar panel battery charger, paint, grease and welding wire.

Let’s discuss how refrigerant works in your air conditioner, types of refrigerants, and governing laws.

Air conditioning components send the refrigerant outside where a fan blows hot air over the coils and exhausts it to the exterior.

Another fan located inside the home blows air over the cool coils to distribute the resulting cold air throughout the building.

Low-loss fittings must be used to limit the amount of refrigerant released while purging, connecting or disconnecting air conditioners.

Air conditioners and other appliances that use refrigerant must be disposed of according to the EPA’s disposal rules.

Only licensed heating, ventilation, and air conditioning companies and technicians can purchase refrigerant.

Refrigerant Safety

Although refrigerants can pose one or more of these risks, system design, engineering controls, and other techniques mitigate this risk for the use of refrigerant in various types of equipment.

Few refrigerant users fully understand the measures and terminology used to report the extensive toxicity data being gathered;.

As examples, most CFCs are very stable in the atmosphere, generally less stable than either HCFCs or hydrofluorocarbons in refrigeration systems, and generally have comparable or greater acute toxicity than HCFCs or HFCs. Concerns with refrigerant safety have been heightened by negative marketing by competing equipment and refrigerant vendors.

Frequent overstatement coupled with contradictions have fueled discomfort in refrigerant choices for some alternative refrigerants.

Acute toxicity is also a gauge for service operations in which high exposures may be experienced for brief periods, such as upon opening a compressor or removing a gasket that may have refrigerant trapped under it.

Information on the toxicity and flammability of refrigerants is available from SNAP substitute risk screens, chemical manufacturers, published literature, and safety data sheets for all chemicals.

The table below summarizes the refrigerant safety classifications from American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers Standard 34.

Types Of Refrigerants Explained

With refrigerant laws changing and certain refrigerant types becoming illegal, it is important to understand the differences between the types of refrigerant when it comes to replacing your refrigerator or freezer.

Refrigerant is a cooling agent that absorbs heat and leaves cool air behind when passed through a compressor and evaporator.

Refrigerants that contain chlorine such as Freon or CFC refrigerants are most likely to contribute to ozone depletion.

Less than 150 would be considered low, 150-2500 is medium, and greater than 2500 would be a high GWP. HCFC refrigerants have the highest GWP rating.

Refrigerants with an ODP of 0 would be considered environmentally safe but not eco-friendly since they still have the potential to contribute to global warming.

Because of the negative impact on the environment, there are refrigerant regulations in place that have listed a variety of banned refrigerant and refrigerant types that are being phased out.

R-12 refrigerant, once the most popular refrigerant on the market, was banned in the early 1990’s for contributing to the greenhouse gas effect and all production ceased in 1994.R-22 refrigerant was made in the late 1990’s to temporarily replace R-12 due to its lower ODP. Production is expected to cease in 2020 and it will be entirely illegal by 2030 to comply with the Clean Air Act of 2010.Refrigerant leaks must be fixed within 30 days and refrigerant must be recaptured, recycled, and disposed of properly by a certified technician to avoid fines.

Types, Properties, Designation, Examples

There is no one refrigerant that can be used for all types of applications i.e there is no ideal refrigerant.

Examples of secondary refrigerants include water, air, hydrocarbons, ammonia, and carbon dioxide, which are more environmentally benign than traditional refrigerants such as HCFCs.

Designation System For Refrigerants : The refrigerants are internationally designated as ‘R’ followed by certain numbers such as R-11, R-12, R-114, etc.

1) NH3. Properties – Highly toxic, flammable, good thermal properties, highest refrigerating effect per kg of refrigerant.

Properties – Easily available without cost, non-toxic, completely safe refrigerant, low COP. Uses – It is used in an aircraft air-conditioning system.

Properties – Non -toxic, Non-flammable, Non-explosive, high COP, and most suitable refrigerant.

The overall physical and thermodynamic properties of refrigerant R134a closely resemble with that of refrigerant R12.- Due to all the above factors, R134a is considered to be an excellent replacement for R12 refrigerant.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is the agency within the U.S. Department of Transportation that works to reduce deaths and injuries and economic costs due to motor vehicle crashes.

NHTSA works with state and local law enforcement to ensure we all obey the rules of the road and teams with other safety partners to address specific safety challenges, such as drunk or distracted driving.

The agency distributes grant funds to state agencies to support highway safety plans, and to provide startup money for new safety initiatives.

NHTSA’s ten regional offices and their staffs help states identify their highway safety problems and evaluate safety programs and activities; provide training to local program managers; and offer NHTSA publications and program manuals, safety promotional material, and other resources.

The concern has to do with the automatic emergency brakes with reports that the braking can happen unnecessarily without the driver touching the brake pedal.

In Infrastructure Law, A Stronger Emphasis On Highway Safety

For years, highway safety groups have argued that two provisions in federal highway law encapsulate a fundamental flaw in how the federal government approaches highway safety.

Federal highway law requires states to set data-driven safety goals.

Skyrocketing traffic deaths – the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration projects that 31,720 people died in traffic crashes between January and September 2021 – coupled with persistent criticism from safety groups have spurred a reevaluation of that policy.

One provision, section 150 of Title 23, created as part of the 2012 highway law, tied Federal Highway Administration infrastructure dollars to performance measures including safety.

The second, section 402 in Title 23, requires NHTSA to work with the Governors Highway Safety Administration to create safety performance measures.

The bipartisan infrastructure law changed that by including a provision amending section 402 to require states to set highway safety plans that “Demonstrate constant or improved performance” for each performance measure.

The post In infrastructure law, a stronger emphasis on highway safety appeared first on Roll Call.

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration

NHTSA is charged with writing and enforcing Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards as well as regulations for motor vehicle theft resistance and fuel economy, as part of the Corporate Average Fuel Economy system.

NHTSA also licenses vehicle manufacturers and importers, allows or blocks the import of vehicles and safety-regulated vehicle parts, administers the vehicle identification number system, develops the anthropomorphic dummies used in U.S. safety testing as well as the test protocols themselves, and provides vehicle insurance cost information.

Legislation signed by President Lyndon Johnson earlier on September 9, 1966, included the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act and Highway Safety Act that created the National Traffic Safety Agency, the National Highway Safety Agency, and the National Highway Safety Bureau, predecessor agencies to what would eventually become NHTSA. Once the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards came into effect, vehicles not certified by the maker or importer as compliant with US safety standards were no longer legal to import into the United States.

Most of the reduction in vehicle fatality rates during the last third of the 20th century were gained from the initial NHTSA safety standards during 1968-1984 and subsequent voluntary changes in vehicle crashworthiness by vehicle manufacturers.

In 1958, under the auspices of the United Nations, a consortium called the Economic Commission for Europe had been established to normalize vehicle regulations across Europe to standardize best practices in vehicle design and equipment and minimize technical barriers to pan-European vehicle trade and traffic.

Transportation Research Board studies show safety disparities may exist among vehicles of differing price, country of origin, and quality not just among vehicles categorized by their sizes and weights alone.

Though conceptually similar to European headlamps with nonstandardized shape and replaceable-bulb construction, these headlamps conform to the SAE headlamp design standards contained in U.S. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108, and not to the international safety standards used worldwide outside North America.

The popularity of plant-based meat products from companies such as Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods has skyrocketed in recent years, aided by availability everywhere from supermarkets to Burger King and Starbucks.

One of the biggest deal breakers for potential consumers of plant-based meat is the higher price compared with actual meat.

To make a further dent in the more than $100 billion U.S. meat industry, alternative meat will need to address that price parity.

Big meat manufacturers have been producing animal meat products for years at a large scale and keeping prices low.

As Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods expand their products from beef to chicken and into other animal meat alternatives, and with new companies entering the market, what can companies do to bring their prices down for customers, ultimately leading to price parity with the animal meat products?

Companies can develop innovative technologies of their own to become more cost efficient in their production, she said, and big animal meat manufacturers could get involved in plant-based meat production.

Even with the push of bigger producers, Holstein said she doesn’t see plant-based meat reaching price parity with animal meat for another 10 years and she thinks plant-based meat will always be at least slightly more expensive.

The Untold Truth Of Impossible Foods

When Time interviewed Patrick Brown about the project, they asked him if he was building a business or trying to save the world, and the answer? “Well, it’s both.”

The first driving force behind the company was to change just how many animals we need to raise solely to put into the food chain.

The impact the meat and dairy industries have on the environment is bordering on catastrophic, responsible for a huge amount of greenhouse gases, taking up an unthinkable amount of land, and causing the extinction of wildlife by pushing them out of their native habitats.

The goal of Impossible Foods was to help change that, and along the way, they figured out that if they can get the company to take off, they can do much, much more.

“If Impossible Foods is successful, we solve the world’s biggest environmental problem, solve food security problems, and even reduce conflicts, most of which start over land and water… when we’ve achieved sufficient scale, we should be able to produce meats that are not only more delicious but more affordable. This will have a huge impact, particularly in places where protein, malnutrition, and iron deficiencies are common.”

It might seem like those are unbelievably lofty goals, but Impossible Foods has gotten the backing of financiers like Bill Gates, the Open Philanthropy Project, Google Ventures, and investment firms in Shanghai and Hong Kong.

Patent Infringement: Everything You Need To Know

Patent infringement occurs when someone makes, uses, sells, offers to sell, or imports into the U.S. a patented invention without the patent owner’s permission.

Patent infringement is a civil claim, and while the USPTO will legally grant the patent, it is ultimately the patent holder’s responsibility to bring the matter to suit.

The infringer doesn’t have to know that the patent exists in order for the patent owner to sue him or her for direct infringement.

Patent infringement cases result from a party’s use or sale of a patented item without the permission of the person who holds the original patent.

For a patent infringement case to be heard, the patent holder must file within the statute of limitations, which is six years from the date the infringement occurred.

Another common defense of patent infringement is an argument that the infringement that is alleged is not covered under the original patent claims.

In any case of patent infringement, the person who holds the patent will be required to provide the evidence and proof that the defendant has in fact infringed on the patent.

Patent Infringement

Patent infringement is the commission of a prohibited act with respect to a patented invention without permission from the patent holder.

Private settlements may not always serve the public interest, “Because litigating patent disputes to completion tends to generate positive externalities, by clarifying the limits of patent protection if the patent is upheld or encouraging wider use of the innovation if the patent is invalidated”.

In certain jurisdictions, there is a particular case of patent infringement called “Indirect infringement.” Indirect infringement can occur when a device is claimed in a patent and a third party supplies a product which can only be reasonably used to make the claimed device.

In Australia, a patent infringement occurs when a person, who is not the patentee, exploits or authorises another person to exploit the patent in question.

This right to obtain provisional damages requires a patent holder to show that the infringing activities occurred after the publication of the patent application, the patented claims are substantially identical to the claims in the published application, and the infringer had “Actual notice” of the published patent application.

A clearance search, also called freedom-to-operate search or infringement search, is a search done on issued patents or on pending patent applications to determine if a product or process infringes any of the claims of the issued patents or pending patent applications.

Patent infringement insurance is an insurance policy provided by one or more insurance companies to protect either an inventor or a third party from the risks of inadvertently infringing a patent.

Patent Infringement: What Is It? Types, Examples

Patent Infringement is the violation of a patent owner’s rights with respect to some invention.

Patent infringement is the commission of a prohibited act with respect to a patented invention without permission from the patent holder.

The various types of patent infringement occur when a person or business uses parts of a patented idea, method, or device without permission.

Making, using, selling, trying to sell, or importing something without obtaining a license from the patent holder is considered direct patent infringement.

Patent infringement occurs when another party makes, uses, or sells a patented item without the permission of the patent holder.

To avoid patent infringement, you can hire a patent lawyer to handle the patent process for you or you can do an online search via the United States Patent and Trademark Office to check to see if a patent is pending or has been granted.

If you believe that a competitor has a patent on a related product, but cannot find the patent via an online search, you may want to consider contacting the competitor to see if they have a patent.

Patent Infringement Under U.S. Patent Law

Under 35 U.S.C. 271, anyone who makes, uses, offers to sell, or sells any patented invention domestically, or imports a patented invention into the United States during the term of the patent, is infringing the patent.

Generally, to enforce a patent against an infringing product, a patent owner will sue the infringer in a civil lawsuit.

The first step is claim construction, based on the claim language, the written description of the specification, the patent prosecution history, and extrinsic evidence when necessary to understand the patent.

What if the infringement is not literal, but only some minor aspect of the patent has been tweaked in the accused product? Under the “Doctrine of equivalents,” if the individual claim limitations and the infringing invention are sufficiently equivalent both in what they do and how they do it, infringement will also be found.

Under the triple identity test, the difference is insubstantial if the feature in the accused product performs substantially the same function, in substantially the same way, and to yield substantially the same outcome as the limitation articulated in the patent claim.

Prosecution history estoppel is a doctrine that stops a patent owner from claiming infringement under the doctrine of equivalents in certain situations, based on statements made during patent prosecution.

This means that if you narrowed your claims during the patent prosecution so that the patent would be issued, you cannot broaden the claim with the doctrine of equivalents in order to include what you “Surrendered” in order to get the patent issued.

Patent Infringement Legal Definition Of Patent Infringement

n. the manufacture and/or use of an invention or improvement for which someone else owns a patent issued by the government, without obtaining permission of the owner of the patent by contract, license or waiver.

The infringing party will be liable to the owner of the patent for all profits made from the use of the invention, as well as any harm which can be shown by the inventor, whether the infringement was intentional or not.

PATENT INFRINGEMENT: HOW IT’S PROVEN, AND HOW THIS SHOULD INFLUENCE YOUR PATENT FILINGS

What does it take, in a legal sense, to prove that patent infringement has occurred – and what steps can you take in the process of getting your patent to ensure your patent is enforceable against infringers?

The federal pleading standards for patent infringement have become even more rigorous over the last decade, requiring even more specificity to initiate patent litigation in federal court.

If you have a patent pending, you have a very limited ability to hold the infringer liable: only after your patent has issued, and only if the application was published with substantially the same claims that are eventually issued.

I’ve heard several anecdotes and seen specific cases where people will avoid copying a product based simply on the fact that a patent application was filed – regardless of how strong the patent is.

HOW TO DRAFT A HIGH-QUALITY PATENT THAT CAN BE ENFORCED. To be able to enforce your patent, you first need to draft a patent containing claims that make it relatively easy for you to show the three elements outlined above.

An infringer will have a much harder time invalidating your patent based on prior art that was considered by the patent examiner.

WRITE WELL-CONSTRUCTED CLAIMS WITH DIVERSE SCOPE. Your patent should contain well-constructed claims that clearly describe what your patent covers.

What Is Economic Surplus And How Does It Work?

There’s also economic surplus, which refers to the sum total of two parts – consumer surplus and producer surplus – and reflects the surplus each party takes advantage of in a particular economic activity.

Economic surplus refers to the respective gains that a consumer or producer gets within an economic activity and is the combined benefit, sometimes referred to as “Total welfare.” It can also be referred to as total surplus or community surplus as well.

Economic surplus has two parts to it: consumer surplus and producer surplus.

The two parts of economic surplus – the consumer surplus and producer surplus – represents the gains or surplus a consumer or producer receives in a particular economic transaction.

Let’s dive into how economic surplus actually works, starting with consumer surplus.

Given the example above, the consumer surplus is $150 as the customer would be willing to pay $500 but scored a deal of $350. The producer surplus is $100 because the producer would sell at $250 but a customer is okay paying $350. In this example, the economic surplus is $250, which represents the sum of consumer and producer surplus.

Surplus can refer to many things but economic surplus is used to evaluate market conditions and benefits for both consumers and producers.

What Is An Economic Surplus?

Definition: Economic surplus, also known as total welfare, is the sum of the consumer surplus and the producer surplus in an economy.

What is the definition of economic surplus? Based on the general price level and consumer expectations, consumers are willing to pay a certain price for certain goods and services.

If they manage to pay a lower price than the maximum price they would be willing to pay, they have a consumer surplus.

The sum of consumer surplus and producer surplus equals the economic surplus of an economy.

Ted has a consumer surplus of $300. From the firm’s perspective, the minimum selling price for this computer was $800. Eventually, the firm sold the computer for $1,200.

The firm has a producer surplus of $400. The economic surplus of this transaction is $300 + $400 = $700. Summary Definition.

Define Economic Surplus: An economic surplus is the sum of all consumer and producer surpluses in an economy.

What Is An Economic Surplus?

There can be two different types of such economic surplus, consumer surplus and producer surplus.

A consumer surplus happens when a given product or service’s price proves to be less than the greatest price level consumers would be willing to pay.

Consumer surplus transpires when these buyers can obtain the product for a lesser price than their limit.

Oil product prices are a real world example of potential consume surplus.

A producer surplus happens as companies are able to sell their goods for more than the lowest price at which they were willing to sell.

With prices rising and falling because of demand and supply, surplus happens on the side of the producer or the consumer.

Prices will decline if supply is high and demand is insufficient, leading to a consumer surplus.

What Is Economic Surplus? Definition And Meaning

Economic surplus is also known as Marshallian surplus, named after the British economist Alfred Marshall who made the term widely known – economists also use ‘total welfare’ with the same meaning.

According to My Accounting Course, economic surplus is the sum of the consumer surplus and the producer surplus in an economy.

The consumer surplus is 13 minus 10 times 1,000 = $3,000.

Arsène Jules Étienne Juvenel Dupuit, an Italian-born French civil engineer and economist, first proposed the concept of an economic surplus in the mid-19th century.

On a standard supply and demand chart, the consumer surplus is the triangular area above the equilibrium price of a product and below the demand curve.

In the same supply and demand chart, the producer surplus is the area just above the supply curve, below the equilibrium price, which reflects the fact that producers would have accepted a lower-than-equilibrium price for the first unit, a second unit at a higher price but still below the equilibrium price, etc.

Consumers, who were already willing to purchase at the previous price, benefit from the discount – they may purchase more and receive additional consumer surplus.

Economic Surplus Overview & Types

Understand how economic surplus arises and understand the two types of surplus: consumer and producer.

What is surplus in economics? Economic surpluses occur when there is more supply than demand.

Economies still strive for an economic surplus due to the belief that abundance is better than scarcity.

In economics, the concept of surplus is usually seen in the term budget surplus.

The concepts of producer and consumer surpluses are important aspects of economic surplus, as they describe two sides of surplus.

Conversely, producer surplus indicates how far under market value the price is that producers are willing to accept as payment for their goods or services.

What is a producer surplus? The difference between the given price, which is the minimum price a producer is willing to sell a product for, and the market price, which is how much the product ultimately sells for, is what is known as the producer surplus.

Economic Surplus 101: Definition, Types, Causes

There’s also economic surplus, which refers to the sum total of two parts – consumer surplus and producer surplus – and reflects the surplus each party takes advantage of in a particular economic activity.

Though there are various types of surplus with different definitions, we’ll be focusing primarily on economic surplus.

Consumer Surplus Vs. Economic Surplus: What’S The Difference?

In mainstream economics, consumer surplus is the difference between the highest price a consumer is willing to pay and the actual price they do pay for the good.

Economic surplus refers to two related quantities: consumer surplus and producer surplus.

The producer surplus is the difference between the actual price of a good or service-the market price-and the lowest price a producer would be willing to accept for a good.

Economic surplus is calculated by combining the surplus benefit that is experienced by both consumers and producers in an economic transaction.

In economic terms, they’ve experienced a surplus of $20: the difference between the maximum amount the student was willing to spend and the market price of the sneakers.

At the market price a surplus is created for both parties: consumers who would have paid more only have to pay the market price, and suppliers who would have accepted less receive the market price.

On a supply and demand diagram, consumer surplus is the area above the equilibrium price of the good and below the demand curve.

What Is Production Planning And How To Do It? A Comprehensive Guide.

In this blog, let’s understand the basic terms around production planning, see how it’s done, look at common pitfalls to be aware of, see the types of production planning, some topics around production planning, and finally an example of handling production planning in ERPs.

Production planning basics 1.1 What is production planning?

Production planning is the planning and allocation of raw materials, workers, and workstations to fulfill manufacturing orders on time.

How to do production planning 2.1 Five tips to improve production planning.

Production planning is about planning resources for delivering products and production control is about controlling the production system to achieve targets optimally.

Creating a production plan is one part of the planning process, the other is scheduling different resources to the production plan.

Further, we talked about the types of production plans and the role of software in production planning.

ScienceDirect Topics

Production planning affects procurement and logistics performanceProduction planning.

Optimal production planning demands constant, real-time revisions to production schedules to keep the plant running at peak performance, but frequent changes to manufacturing plans or scheduling disrupts the overall supply-chain efficiency.

Production planning is the planning of production and manufacturing processes in a company or industry.

Production planning includes the planning of manufacturing and assembly processes, as well as the process of clothing finishing.

Line planning: A detailed line planning with daily production targets for the production line is prepared.

Follow-up daily: Once the plans are set for a garment run and delivery deadlines, one must institute strict follow-up procedures to ensure that the plan is followed correctly.

Planning flow-time plays an important role in production planning and management.

What Is Production Planning And Why Is It Important?

Production planning is the act of developing a guide for the design and production of a given product or service.

Production planning helps organizations make the production process as efficient as possible.

Production planning originated to optimize the manufacturing process, and today its general logic is applied in various forms to design, production and delivery of software as well.

Production planning is important because it creates an efficient process for production according to customer and organizational needs.

There are many types of production planning that focus on various particulars of the production process.

As the production line and manufacturing efforts as a whole became bigger and more complex, more involved production planning was necessary.

Today, as the nature of production methods and manufacturing has changed, so has production planning.

Supply Chain Management

The following video gives a short introduction to some of the concepts discussed in this topic: Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management: Planning Optimization enhancements.

If your system doesn’t already include the features described in this topic, go to Feature management and turn on the Planned production orders for Planning Optimization feature.

If the Planned order type field is set to Production, planned production orders are created.

The plan output includes material supply to cover related material demand for production.

Although dependent child items are automatically detected and included in master planning runs when the built-in master planning engine is used, Planning Optimization doesn’t currently perform this action.

When you do a filtered master planning run for finished good FG, you will get a planned production order for the finished good FG, a planned purchase order for the raw material R, and a planned purchase order for the subproduct S1. This is an undesirable result because Planning Optimization has ignored existing supply for raw material R and subproduct S1 needs to be produced using S2 rather than ordered directly.

Building on the previous example, an additional finished good, FG2, also uses subproduct S1. A planned order exists for finished good FG2 and planned demand exists for all of its components, including S1. You decide to overcome the undesired results of the filtered master planning run from the previous example by adding all the subproducts and raw materials from the BOM structure of finished good FG to the filter and then running full regeneration.

5 Types Of Production Planning

If you’re curious about how production planning might work for your organization, you may benefit from learning about different production modes and how planning works for each.

In this article, we discuss what production planning is and discuss five different types of production planning methods with examples for each.

What is production planning? Production planning is a process that involves scheduling and organizing the manufacturing processes in a plant.

Effective production planning allows a company to monitor its production, identify issues, deliver products on time and avoid problem escalation.

Job Job production planning refers to processes that involve specific planning and manufacturing processes for each item.

Depending on the job, planning for job production manufacturing can be quicker than planning for more automated manufacturing processes.

Jackson’s Baked Goods is creating a production plan for their new cinnamon bread. First, the head baker calculates batch production time based on the recipe.

Production Planning

Production planning is the planning of production and manufacturing modules in a company or industry.

Different types of production methods, such as single item manufacturing, batch production, mass production, continuous production etc.

Production planning can be combined with production control into production planning and control, or it can be combined with enterprise resource planning.

A production plan is made periodically for a specific time period, called the planning horizon.

“In order to develop production plans, the production planner or production planning department needs to work closely together with the marketing department and sales department.

It is true that every establishment, no matter how large or how small has production planning in some form; but a large percentage of these do not have planning that makes for an even flow of material, and a minimum amount of money tied up in inventories.

Production control is the activity of controlling the workflow in the production.

Production Planning And Control

The start of production planning and control is kick-started after you, the entrepreneur, has made the decision regarding the product design and production systems and processes.

Production planning and control looks at efficiency and economic benefits of the production line and aims at making these processes design-worthy and lean for effectiveness and great efficiency.

In the same way, you have your production management system design for your production planning phase, where you plan the workflow, the resources, the time, the effort, and the cost, and the production control measures will ensure that they are all monitored and checked at all times, for adjustments and adherence.

In this stage, as a manager, you need to put in time and your decision-making skills to the test as you’re designing the product and the production system, which is a combination of the production process and the production planning and control techniques.

Production control makes use of many control techniques that enable the production unit to achieve the optimum level of performance that an organization is looking forward to.

Production control ensures that the processes designed and defined during production planning are staying true to its course of action.

Optimum levels of co-ordination is maintained on the production line through the implementation of Production Planning and Control.

Toyota To Meet Union Demands For Pay Hikes In Positive Sign Of Growth

TOKYO, March 9 – Toyota Motor Corp agreed on Wednesday that its union demand for annual salary and bonus hikes will be fully met in the new fiscal year, President Akio Toyoda said.

Nissan Motor and Honda Motor followed suit with the same response to its union’s demands after Toyota’s announcement, in a sign of broadening momentum towards wage hikes needed to stoke a virtuous cycle of wage growth and private demand.

Toyota Reconsiders Production Plans As Disruptions Mount

Toyota Motor Corp. is reviewing its production plans as mounting global disruptions hinder the automaker’s attempts to boost output.

“If we do not continue to make sound production plans” along with suppliers, “This will lead to exhaustion.”

Toyoda’s comments reflect the challenges the world’s top car producer faces as it tries to make up for output lost in recent months due to stressed supply chains, COVID outbreaks, a cyberattack and disruptions stemming from Russia invading Ukraine.

While Toyota hasn’t altered that objective, it’s conveying a more “Realistic” production plan to suppliers for the April-to-June quarter, Chief Human Resources Officer Masanori Kuwata said Wednesday.

“As the union points out, a production plan that exceeds the capacity of personnel and equipment is abnormal,” Toyoda said earlier in his discussion with union leaders.

Toyota was relatively resilient amid the supply chain snags earlier in the pandemic and has been trying to ramp up production to meet soaring global demand for new vehicles.

Recent disruptions, including a cyberattack on a supplier that knocked all of Toyota’s plants in Japan offline for a day last week, mean it will be very difficult for the company to recover any additional production for the fiscal year ending this month, according to Bloomberg Intelligence analyst Tatsuo Yoshida.

Akio Toyoda Would Rather Die Than Adapt

Akio Toyoda, grandson of the founder of Toyota, has gone into full frontal assault mode on proposals by the Japanese government to slash carbon emissions from the transportation sector by transitioning to electric vehicles.

The Japanese government is committed to dramatically reducing carbon emission by 2030.

At the most recent regular meeting of JAMA, Toyoda teed off on the proposed emission goals.

“Japan is an export-reliant country. Thus, carbon neutrality is tantamount to an issue of employment for Japan. Some politicians are saying that we need to turn all cars into EVs or that the manufacturing industry is an outmoded one but I don’t think that is the case. To protect the jobs and lives of Japanese people, I think it is necessary to bring our future in line with our efforts so far.”

“In achieving carbon neutrality, the enemy is carbon dioxide, not internal combustion. To reduce carbon dioxide emissions, it is necessary to have practical and sustainable initiatives that are in line with different situations in various countries and regions.”

Unsurprisingly, Toyoda says that hybrid vehicles still have significant contributions to make toward carbon neutrality, even though they are equipped with internal combustion engines.

Akio Toyoda is right about one thing – Japan’s economy is heavily reliant on exports.

The Complete Guide To Precast Concrete- What You Need To Know

If you don’t fully understand the ins and outs of precast concrete construction, then take a walk with us through its historical significance, the types of buildings and structures that can be created, as well as the process of making precast concrete.

The first permit for the process of creating a precast concrete building was acquired by Englishman John Alexander Brodie, though the first major structure using precast concrete was erected in the U.S. The Walnut Lane Memorial Bridge in Philadelphia was built in 1950 using precast concrete and is recognized as the beginning of the precast industry we know today in the United States.

Foundations: Even if your entire building won’t be created using precast concrete, laying a precast concrete foundation can be a huge advantage in the construction of new buildings.

Buildings made with precast concrete have so many features that make them a superior choice to on-site cast concrete.

Office Buildings: In buildings that need to be both functional and attractive, precast concrete can be made using unique molds that sets a business apart, without compromising any of the benefits, security, and efficiency of the structure itself.

The main difference between precast concrete and site-cast concrete is that precast concrete is poured off-site, usually at a plant, using a mold.

Sustainability: The use of precast concrete is so much better for the environment, the people who work with it, and the concrete itself, it’s clear that this process is not going anywhere anytime soon.

Precast Concrete

Precast concrete is a construction product produced by casting concrete in a reusable mold or “Form” which is then cured in a controlled environment, transported to the construction site and lifted into place.

Precast stone is distinguished from precast concrete using a fine aggregate in the mixture, so the final product approaches the appearance of naturally occurring rock or stone.

By producing precast concrete in a controlled environment, the precast concrete is afforded the opportunity to properly cure and be closely monitored by plant employees.

The precast concrete products industry focuses on utility, underground and other non-prestressed products, and is represented primarily by the National Precast Concrete Association.

The precast concrete structures industry focuses on prestressed concrete elements and on other precast concrete elements used in above-ground structures such as buildings, parking structures, and bridges.

If desired, the concrete can be given an architectural finish, where the concrete itself is colored and/or textured.

Many state and federal transportation projects in the United States require precast concrete suppliers to be certified by either the Architectural Precast Association, National Precast Concrete Association or Precast Prestressed Concrete Institute.

Figure skating is a sport in which individuals, pairs, or groups perform on figure skates on ice.

The International Skating Union regulates international figure skating judging and competitions.

Acrobatic skating is a combination of circus arts, technical artistic gymnastics skills, and figure skating.

Although people have been ice skating for centuries, figure skating in its current form originated in the mid-19th century.

A Treatise on Skating by the accomplished skater, Welshman Lt. ‘Captain’ Robert Jones, is the first-known book on figure skating.

The first European Figure Skating Championships were held in 1891 in Hamburg, Germany, and the first World Figure Skating Championships were held in 1896 in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

Figure Skater Nathan Chen On The Olympics, The Russian Skating Controversy, And His Future In The Sport

Nathan Chen arrived in New York just days after he shocked the world during the Beijing Olympics: The figure skater landed a backflip on ice at the exhibition gala.

As he attends college, Chen said he’ll be spending some time nurturing who he is outside of figure skating.

Like many athletes, Chen spent most of his childhood and teens practicing his sport.

Numbers aren’t foreign to Chen as a skater, they’re essential to tracking his jumps and he often turns to the analysts on his team to help look at his stylistic programs more objectively.

Chen and his teammates were left literally empty handed – after losing an appeal agains the IOC to get their medal, Chen told the New Yorker that he and his teammates hadn’t received the physical medal yet.

One of the hardest things for Chen was watching his teammates continue to compete amid the controversy and have this added anxiety weighing them down in an already stressful time of their lives and on their bodies.

As he waits on his medal, Chen said he’s taking his time to figure out what comes next.

Figure skaters Candice Tamakloe and Angela Blocker-Loyd have turned their passion project into reality.

The Dream Detroit Skating Academy co-founders both started skating when they were young girls and always found themselves returning to the rink.

“We were just talking about skating in old times,” Tamakloe recalled to “Good Morning America.” “And she’s like, ‘What do you think about starting a skating program, a skating club?’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, I’ve always wanted to do that. I never knew how I was going to do it, how I was going to go about doing it.’ She’s like, ‘Well, let’s do it. Let’s figure it out.'”.

That’s how Tamakloe and Blocker-Loyd came to launch Dream Detroit in January and now, it holds the honor of being the first Black women-owned skating club in Michigan.

“There are a lot of great skaters that have come from Michigan, but there has never been a skater that has come from Detroit,” Blocker-Loyd said.

“We want to bring in those kids and teach them and then we want to mold them and hopefully have a skater come out of Detroit, a professional skater that everyone knows and they can say, ‘I came from a rink right in the city.'”.

Dream Detroit currently holds five-week sessions on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays at Adams Butzel Recreation Center’s Jack Adams Memorial Arena, a homecoming of sorts for Tamakloe, who first started skating at age 9 at the same rink with the Renaissance Figure Skating Club.

Diamond Edge Figure Skating Club Hosts ‘Skatecation’ Spring Show

WILLMAR – Low lights set the mood at the Willmar Civic Center Saturday evening as a slew of savvy skaters danced across the ice to entertain a packed house of proud parents and community members.

Returning after a hiatus due to COVID-19 restrictions last year, the Diamond Edge Figure Skating Club brought the heat of warmer weather on the beach with this year’s theme, Skatecation.

Consisting of around 50 skaters from the local club, this year’s show also featured nationally ranked figure skater Wren Warne-Jacobsen, who came out for two separate performances throughout the two-hour show.

Warne-Jacobsen hails from Bemidji, Minnesota, is a Regional and Sectional Champion, and a three-time U.S. National competitor.

How Figure Skating Included Women In Sports

Most wouldn’t know that figure skating is largely the reason women nowadays compete alongside men in sports competitions.

According to the Japanese Center for Research on Women in Sport, figure skating was one of the first sports that allowed women to participate in the Olympics because it was considered a ‘feminine sport’, and only “The events that men considered being a ‘feminine sport’ were recognised as women’s sport events.” Even though it reinforced a man’s view of femininity, figure skating was a way into the world of sports, which was a man’s world until 1902.

“Together with six traditional summer sports including tennis, sailing, archery and croquet, it was one of the first sports with a category for women competitors and the only women’s winter Olympic sport until 1936,” wrote Kat Eschner in the Smithsonian Magazine.

The name changed from “Ladies” figure skating, to “Women’s” figure skating.

These changes bring attention to the persisting inequalities in judging of men and women in figure skating competitions.

Although figure skating isn’t the symbol of gender equality and nowadays is holding women back with some inequalities in the judging process and the dress codes, it has helped women get ahead in sports.

Figure skating introduced women to sports competitions, allowing them to get to where they are today.

ISU’S Russia Ban Keeps Kamila Valieva Out Of World Championships

Kamila Valieva is out of the figure skating world championships after the sport’s governing body banned competitors from Russia and Belarus following the invasion of Ukraine.

Russia won the team competition and Valieva was allowed to compete in the individual competition after an appeal, but finished fourth after a disastrous free skate, with Scherbakova winning gold.

Medals for the team competition have yet to be awarded and the image of Valieva falling during her individual program is one of the enduring moments of the Beijing games.

The figure skating championships, which begin March 21, are also banning three Russian skating teams that placed in their individual Olympic events.

In men’s tennis, world No. 1 Daniil Medvedev and No. 7 Andrey Rublev will be allowed to compete but without the Russian flag.

Governing federations in basketball, skiing, volleyball, canoeing, badminton and triathlon have all moved to exclude Russian athletes or teams from their events.

Formula 1 also cancelled its Russian Grand Prix, while UEFA moved the Champions League Final out of St. Petersburg.

History & Competitions

History Pioneers of the sport A Treatise on Skating by Robert Jones, an Englishman, is apparently the first account of figure skating.

Browne, who organized the first U.S. championships in 1914 for men, women, and pairs, wrote two important books on skating and was involved in the establishment of a national skating organization.

He led the effort to formalize competitions and tests by establishing governing bodies for skating in the United States and Canada.

The latter organization and the International Skating Union of America, which had American and Canadian members, were the predecessors of the United States Figure Skating Association, founded in 1921.

The International Skating Union, founded in the Netherlands in 1892, was created to oversee skating internationally.

With more than 50 member nations, the ISU establishes rules about the conduct of skating and skating competitions.

While Button’s success paved the way for the emergence of more multirevolution jumps in figure skating, other male skaters developed different aspects of the sport.

Why Don’T Figure Skaters Get Dizzy Even When They Spin At 300 Rotations Per Minute?

With the technique, skaters are able to stand back up gracefully in their figure skates even after spinning at a rate of 300 rotations per minute.

Prof. William Bill Turnbull, a physicist at Adamson University, said skaters don’t fall despite ice being super slippery because of their ability to control their center of gravity.

“Magli-lean sila forward and then they will start to slide their feet para magkaroon sila ng forward motion so ‘yung forward motion na ‘yon is kina-counter just for a split amount of time ‘yung kanilang pagli-lean forward para ‘di sila tumumba,” he said.

According to figure skating coach Ronan Capili, the most important thing to remember when one wants to try the sport is keeping the upper body upright and the knees slightly bent while skating.

It’s also essential to look ahead. Capili said there are a lot who are interested in ice skating.

Some even want to follow the footsteps of Michael Martinez, the first Olympic figure skater from Southeast Asia.

Russian Figure Skaters Banned From World Championships But Not For Reason We Expected

Less than two weeks after Russia turned one of the marquee events of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games into a bizarre and troubling fiasco, all of its figure skaters were banned from the upcoming world championships, not because of the country’s state-sponsored doping, but because of Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

As the international sports world continues shutting doors on athletes from Russia, the International Skating Union, figure skating’s worldwide governing body, announced that Russia’s powerful figure skating contingent would not be allowed at the world championships in Montpellier, France, later this month.

As the world shuts Putin out and does all it can to punish him, sports certainly is doing its part.

It’s hard to imagine a rebuke by the sports world would matter much to Putin as he unleashes his murderous fury on Ukraine, but we do know that over the years, he has cared deeply about sports.

Figure skating in Russia is an international powerhouse and a national treasure.

The figure skating world championships right after the Winter Games usually are an afterthought.

Answer Man: Which Came First, Ice Skating Or Roller Skating?

Q: Which came first, ice skating or roller skating?

A: Ice skating began many centuries before the roller skate was invented.

A 2018 article on ice skates by Laura Poppick for Smithsonian Magazine says “Our ancestors have been hustling around on ice for at least 3,000 years.”

The invention of roller skates, on the other hand, is traced to the 1700s when people began attaching wheels to ice skates and shoes.

“In the 15th century Netherlands, the most common way to travel in cold months was by skates, says Federico Formenti, a physiologist and sports scientist at King’s College London who has studied the evolution of ice skates,” the article says.

An Encyclopaedia Britannica article says early roller models “Were derived from the ice skate and typically had an ‘in-line’ arrangement of wheels. In 1819 M. Petibled of Paris received the first patent for a roller skate.”

The first practical roller skate was designed in 1863 by James Plimpton of Medford, Massachusetts.

Figure Skating

International competitions in figure skating were interrupted by World War I. In the 1920s and 1930s, figure skating was dominated by Sonja Henie of Norway.

Fantasy Sport

The two most-prominent fantasy sports in the U.S.-where the majority of fantasy sports are played-are fantasy baseball and fantasy gridiron football.

Fantasy baseball The first sport to be utilized for fantasy purposes was baseball, which is ideally suited to the principles of the game with its detailed yet accessible scorecards and its long statistical record.

The popularity of fantasy baseball spawned a new industry of statistical services and publications that analyzed players from a fantasy perspective and offered team-management strategies.

The advent of advanced statistics-known as sabermetrics in baseball but common in all sports-during the late 20th century created both better-informed fantasy players and a greater array of statistics to use in fantasy scoring.

The Editors of Encyclopaedia BritannicaFantasy gridiron football Fantasy gridiron football emerged in 1962 when Bill Winkenbach, then part owner of the Oakland Raiders football team, gathered with some friends in a New York City hotel, and together they created the first fantasy football league, which was dubbed the GOPPPL. The original concept was simple.

In a standard season for a basic fantasy football league, beginning in week 1, each fantasy team is assigned a regular-season schedule consisting of one weekly head-to-head game.

Although fantasy sports originated in the United States, they caught on in other countries too, particularly Canada and the United Kingdom, with fantasy hockey predominant in the former country and fantasy football the most-popular game in the latter.

Fantasy Sport

A fantasy sport is a type of game, often played using the Internet, where participants assemble imaginary or virtual teams composed of proxies of real players of a professional sport.

Fantasy Sports Magazine debuted in 1989 as the first regular publication covering more than one fantasy sport.

Prior to these developments, fantasy sports were largely viewed negatively by major sports leagues, with Russo later recalling that “There were concerns about whether it would be right for the fans or could it be construed as gambling.” However, leagues began to embrace fantasy sports as their value towards increasing fans’ consumption of sports became more evident.

Following the 2018 United States Supreme Court decision in Murphy v. National Collegiate Athletic Association, which allowed states to legalize sports betting, questions surrounding the legality of daily fantasy sports, as well as fantasy sports in general, within the United States have largely been settled.

According to the FSGA, the most popular fantasy sport in the US and Canada is gridiron football, which is played by approximately 78% of fantasy participants.

Due to the popularity of fantasy sports, major sports networks such as ESPN, NFL Network, and Fox Sports have created dedicated weekly fantasy programming to analyze player performance and predict outcomes in relation to particular scoring systems.

Because the UIGEA exempted fantasy sports from its definition of a bet or wager, there is a misconception that fantasy sports were made legal by the UIGEA. However, the UIGEA is not a criminal gambling statute, and it specifically does not alter any criminal gambling laws and thus does not make fantasy sports legal.

Michael F. Florio’S 2022 Fantasy Football: Impact Of Russell Wilson To Broncos

That means a boost in value for the Broncos playmakers, as the longball is the quickest way for receivers to rack up fantasy points.

There is a new coaching staff in place, so that will play a factor, but in the 10 games last season where both Jeudy and Sutton played, Jeudy led the team in target share, air yards per game and fantasy PPG. Sutton posted a 14% target share, 53 air yards per game and just 3.97 fantasy PPG in those games – all of which also ranked behind Tim Patrick.

He should be valued as a borderline top-20 fantasy WR, with the upside to finish even higher.

The duo is already drawing comparisons to DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett – and both finishing as fantasy WR2s, perhaps even both inside the top-15 WRs, is certainly in the realm of possibilities.

Okwuegbunam, otherwise known as “Albert O,” is a tight end who suddenly has a lot of fantasy upside.

In the last six seasons, Wilson has averaged 21% of his passes to his tight ends – that number jumps to 27% in the red zone.

That’s a whole lot of opportunities to score fantasy points.

Fantasy Football: Russell Wilson, Aaron Rodgers Implications

Normally seismic moves include a dramatic shift of some sort – think Russell Wilson on the verge of being traded from Seattle to Denver.

It should come as no surprise the bad ramifications will occur in Seattle, where an offense that wasn’t great with Wilson last season now has Drew Lock or a quarterback to be determined later – via free agency or the draft or another trade, etc.

As good as Metcalf is, he was a disappointment last season, and that was with Wilson.

Wilson will inherit Lock’s old WRs – Jerry Jeudy, Courtland Sutton & Co. None of the Denver options are as uniquely talented as Metcalf, but Jeudy likely hasn’t even approached his full potential – due primarily to poor QB play, and Sutton will have his best opportunity to recreate his breakout 2019 Pro Bowl season.

Bear in mind, Wilson had one of his worst seasons last year, so perhaps there should be a curb on some of the unfettered enthusiasm.

So just like we expect Metcalf’s ceiling to be capped by what has thus far been his floor, we expect last season’s floor to be just as unlikely for Wilson.

Yeah, members of the Broncos’ offense in general will get a nice boost in our projected fantasy value, but Wilson won’t get as big of a boost.

Fantasy Football 2022 Early Prep: Losing Russell Wilson A Major Problem For Tyler Lockett, Seahawks WRs

The team saved themselves a contractual headache by trading Russell Wilson before he was due for an extension and got quite a bit in return for him.

That’s where the problems begin for Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf.

Only Cooper Kupp had more yards on deep throws than Lockett in 2021, and Metcalf led all receivers on deep end-zone targets and was second to Ja’Marr Chase in deep touchdowns.

The other is Pete Carroll, who, by virtue of this trade, essentially admitted the Seahawks couldn’t make it work with Wilson and were better off finding their next quarterback and sticking to his primary principle.

It’s a miracle from Ye Olde Fantasy Football Gods that Wilson was so good given Carroll’s offensive preferences.

So let’s think about this – if Carroll just dumped Wilson and wasn’t willing to let him chuck it everywhere, and Wilson was good at dropping dimes downfield, then there’s no way the Seahawks offense will be anywhere near as explosive, even with a free agent like Jameis Winston or a rookie like Matt Corral.

I can’t say the same for Lockett, who ranked 41st in targets per game last year with Wilson.

It should come as no surprise that there is a dynasty startup draft strategy incorporating the tenets of both winning now and building for the future.

In addition to these overarching strategies for building dynasty rosters in startup drafts, there are also specific draft strategies that apply to all types of leagues.

Russell Wilson Trade Impact On Denver Broncos, Seattle Seahawks Players

The first big transaction of the 2022 NFL season has gone down, as the Seattle Seahawks have agreed to trade Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos in exchange for Noah Fant, Shelby Harris, Drew Lock and multiple draft picks.

Consider: Since Manning’s retirement, Denver ranks 29th in the NFL with 191 offensive touchdowns, whereas Wilson’s Seattle offense ranks fifth with 273 offensive scores during the same span.

Wilson missed three games during a rough season for Seattle last season, but he was still a productive player when active, finishing 10th in QBR and fifth in YPA while posting the second-highest average depth of throw.

Wilson is now 33 years old and likely won’t rebound in a big way as a rusher, but he figures to be in for another big season as a passer.

Whereas DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett were a terrific one-two wide receiver duo in Seattle, Wilson now has one of the best, youngest and deepest groups of targets in the league.

Wilson should be valued as a QB1 with top-five upside.

A fourth-round pick in 2020, Okwuegbunam has flashed as a situational player the past two seasons and, with Wilson in and Fant out, he’s now positioned for a major breakout in 2022.

Post Idea #25: Enteral administration

Enteral Administration

Enteral administration involves absorption of the drug via the GI tract and includes oral, gastric or duodenal, and rectal administration.

Oral administration is the most frequently used route of administration because of its simplicity and convenience, which improve patient compliance.

Prescribers commonly refer to this method of administration as ‘by mouth’ or PO. Usually, oral administration is most convenient because it is least invasive.

Introduction to Pharmacology Enteral AdministrationThe enteral routes of administration are those in which the drug is absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract.

Some drugs are inactivated by the liver after their absorption from the gut, calledfirst-pass metabolism, and oral administration is not suitable for use by patients who are sedated, comatose, or experiencing nausea and vomiting.

FIRST-PASS CLEARANCEA special situation occurs for some drugs in which dramatic differences in concentrations and effects occur between enteral and parenteral administration as a result of first-pass effect or presystemic drug clearance.

F=1−ER.The F is determined from the ratio of the area under the plasma concentration curve after oral administration compared with that after intravenous administration.

Enteral Administration

Enteral administration is food or drug administration via the human gastrointestinal tract.

Enteral administration involves the esophagus, stomach, and small and large intestines.

In pharmacology, the route of drug administration is important because it affects drug metabolism, drug clearance, and thus dosage.

Enteral administration may be divided into three different categories, depending on the entrance point into the GI tract: oral, gastric, and rectal.

Rectal administration usually involves rectal suppositories.

Drugs given by enteral administration may be subjected to significant first pass metabolism, and therefore, the amount of drug entering the systemic circulation following administration may vary significantly for different individuals and drugs.

Rectal administration is not subject to extensive first pass metabolism.

9. Enteral Administration

In addition to the drug, tablets also contain one or more of the following ingredients: binders, which are adhesive substances that allow the tablet to hold together; disintegrators, which are substances that encourage dissolution in body fluids; lubricants, which are required for efficient manufacturing; and fillers, which are inert ingredients that make the size of the tablet convenient.

Tablets are sometimes scored or grooved; the indentation may then be used to divide the dose.

An enteric-coated tablet has a special coating that resists dissolution in the acidic pH of the stomach but that is dissolved in the alkaline pH of the intestines.

Enteric-coated tablets are often used for administering medications that are destroyed by an acid pH.A tablet that rapidly dissolves when placed on the tongue is known as an orally disintegrating tablet.

These are differentiated from lozenges and from sublingual and buccal tablets, which take more than a minute to dissolve.

Orally disintegrating tablets may be used for their rapid onset of action; for patients who have difficulty swallowing; and for those for whom administration must be ensured.

Enteric-coated tablets must NOT be crushed or chewed because their active ingredients will be released prematurely and destroyed in the stomach.

Enteral Administration

Administration of drugs In drug: Absorption, distribution, metabolism, and eliminationgiven by two general methods: enteral and parenteral administration.

Enteral administration involves the esophagus, stomach, and small and large intestines.

Methods of administration include oral, sublingual, and rectal.

Parenteral routes, which do not involve the gastrointestinal.

Oral Medications Administration Through Enteral Feeding Tube: Clinical Pharmacist-Led Educational Intervention To Improve Knowledge Of Intensive Care Units’ Nurses At Jordan University Hospital

This study aims to evaluate the knowledge of intensive care unit nurses regarding enteral medication administration and evaluate the effect of an educational intervention led by a clinical pharmacist that would improve nurses’ knowledge regarding the subject.

Interprofessional collaboration between nurses and pharmacists and educational interventions delivered by pharmacists have proved to be effective in improving nurses’ knowledge regarding medication administration through EFTs, reducing medication errors that could happen during medication preparation and administration through EFTs, and reduce the incidence of negative health consequences resulting from improper medication administration through EFTs such as tube occlusion.

Looking at previous literature, this is the first study in Jordan that addresses and specifies accurately the level of knowledge of ICU nurses regarding enteral medication administration and utilizes an educational intervention based on interprofessional collaboration between pharmacists and nurses to improve their knowledge.

Total knowledge scores and knowledge scores for each domainThe assessment of enrolled nurses’ knowledge regarding the administration of oral medications through EFTs is represented as the mean total knowledge score for the nurses in each group at baseline, and the mean total knowledge score at the post-interventional stage.

Nurses’ attitudes regarding their knowledge about medication administration through EFTsAfter the completion of parts A and B of the questionnaire at baseline, enrolled nurses were asked in part C to self-assess their knowledge regarding medication administration through EFTs, and whether they would like to participate in an educational program regarding the subject.

Clinical pharmacist effect on improving nurses’ knowledge regarding administering medications through EFTsThe effect of the clinical pharmacist intervention on the nurses’ knowledge regarding enteral medication administration was represented by calculating the improvement of the mean total knowledge scores for nurses in both groups, which is the difference between the mean scores at the post-interventional phase and baseline.

05 3.1212.60 3.760.960.55 2.05This is the first study in Jordan to investigate the knowledge and the adequacy of the self-reported practice of nurses regarding oral medication administration through EFTs and to assess the impact of clinical pharmacist intervention on improving the nurses’ knowledge regarding the subject.

Medication Administration Through Enteral Feeding Tubes

Purpose: An overview of enteral feeding tubes, drug administration techniques, considerations for dosage form selection, common drug interactions with enteral formulas, and methods to minimize tube occlusion is given.

Summary: Enteral nutrition through a feeding tube is the preferred method of nutrition support in patients who have a functioning gastrointestinal tract but who are unable to be fed orally.

Incorrect administration methods may result in clogged feeding tubes, decreased drug efficacy, increased adverse effects, or drug-formula incompatibilities.

Various enteral feeding tubes are available and are typically classified by site of insertion and location of the distal tip of the feeding tube.

Before solid dosage forms are administered through the feeding tube, it should be determined if the medications are suitable for manipulation, such as crushing a tablet or opening a capsule.

Medications should not be added directly to the enteral formula, and feeding tubes should be properly flushed with water before and after each medication is administered.

Conclusion: Successful drug delivery through enteral feeding tubes requires consideration of the tube size and placement as well as careful selection and appropriate administration of drug dosage forms.

Enteral tubes differ in tube diameter, tube composition, inner tube geometry, tube length, port number, connector type, port geometry, and number and location of eyes.

III. IN VITRO TESTING RECOMMENDATIONS TO EVALUATE DRUG PRODUCT SUITABILITY FOR ADMINISTRATION VIA ENTERAL TUBE Given the inherent challenges of administering oral drug products via enteral tubes, it is critical that in vitro testing to evaluate drug product suitability for enteral tube administration be completed before the initiation of any clinical studies intended to support enteral tube administration claims in labeling.

Selection of Enteral Tubes If an applicant intends to recommend multiple tube types, gastrostomy for administration of its drug product, the recommended testing should, at minimum, be performed with the smallest intended enteral tube size for each type of material or design.

If an applicant intends the labeling to include instructions for drug product administration with both NG and G tubes, NG tubes should be tested at Fr 8 and G tubes should be tested at Fr 12.

Types Of Feeding Tubes And Their Uses

There are many types of feeding tubes used for different reasons, some temporary and some permanent.

Decompressing the stomach: Some feeding tubes can be used to remove air in the stomach.

Short-Term Feeding Tubes Nasogastric tube: This type of tube is inserted into the nose and down through the throat.

Long Term Feeding Tubes Gastric tube: The G tube offers direct access to the stomach through a surgical cut in the left upper side of your abdomen.

Temporary feeding tubes work much the same way, with tubes that end in either the stomach or further into the small intestine.

Temporary Feeding Tube Removal It’s a simple and quick procedure to remove a temporary feeding tube.

Feeding tubes are used to make sure that someone who is unable to swallow can still get needed nutrients, fluids, and medication.

Gastrostomy: MedlinePlus Medical Encyclopedia

Gastrostomy feeding tube insertion is done in part using a procedure called endoscopy.

This is a way of looking inside the body using a flexible tube with a small camera on the end of it.

After the endoscopy tube is inserted, the skin over the left side of belly area is cleaned and numbed.

The doctor uses stitches to close the stomach around the tube.

Gastrostomy feeding tubes are put in for different reasons.

Gastrostomy tube insertion; G-tube insertion; PEG tube insertion; Stomach tube insertion; Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy tube insertion.

Twyman SL, Davis PW. Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy placement and replacement.

Information for Patients and Families About Feeding Tubes What is a feeding tube? A feeding tube carries liquid nutrition, fluids, and medications directly into your stomach or intestines.

If you are expected to recover the ability to eat and swallow, a feeding tube might be considered for a short time.

If you are not expected to recover the ability to eat and swallow, a permanent feeding tube might be considered.

Feeding Tubes – Page 1 Benefits and Risks What are some possible benefits of a feeding tube? Depending on your condition, a feeding tube might prolong your life.

What are some possible risks of a feeding tube? Feeding tubes can cause bleeding, infection, skin irritation, leaking around the tube, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

Page22 Feeding Tubes – Page What to Expect What if I have trouble eating or swallowing and I have a feeding tube? If you are awake and aware of what’s going on, having a tube down your nose and throat can be somewhat uncomfortable.

Page33 Feeding Tubes – Page What to Expect What if I have trouble eating or swallowing and I do not have a feeding tube? Sometimes people who have trouble eating enough on their own can get more nutrition when someone helps them eat.

Tube Feeding

Doctors use different types of feeding tubes for HEN. The type of tube depends on the feeding route solution and how long you will receive this type of nutrition.

Doctors usually recommend this type of tube for people who will use a feeding tube for less than 6 weeks.

Your doctor will also tell you what kind of tube feeding formula to use to receive proper nutrition.

The risks of home tube feeding are small, but complications can occur.

Depending on the reason for the tube, people may use a feeding tube for a few weeks, several months, or years.

In some cases, people use a feeding tube for the rest of their lives after surgery or an injury impairs their ability to receive enough nutrition through eating.

It’s important to take care of your feeding tube the way your doctor instructs you and to keep your insertion site clean.

Living With A Feeding Tube: What It’S Like And How To Manage It

If you’re unable to eat and drink like you used to, a feeding tube can help you get the nutrition you need and lower your chances of choking.

A feeding tube can be uncomfortable and even painful sometimes.

A feeding tube can remain in place as long as you need it.

If you aren’t comfortable using your feeding tube in public, ask the manager if there’s a private place for you to go.

Tube feeding doesn’t need to keep you from most physical activities.

Nasal feeding tubes have no restrictions on swimming, other than making sure the tube is closed, clamped, and not hooked up to a feeding pump.

You might want to get advice and help from a specialist who works with feeding tube users.

Feeding Tube Insertion

A feeding tube is a device that’s inserted into your stomach through your abdomen.

Feeding tube insertion is also called percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy, esophagogastroduodenoscopy, and G-tube insertion.

The camera helps the doctor visualize your stomach lining to ensure that the feeding tube is positioned properly.

The feeding tube can be temporary or permanent, depending on the primary reason for the feeding tube.

After the tube is inserted, you may meet with a dietitian who will show you how to use the tube for feeding.

Excessive bleeding and infection are risks whenever you have surgery, even with a minor procedure such as a feeding tube insertion.

Before you leave the hospital or clinic, make sure you know how to care for your feeding tube and when you need to contact a doctor.

Feeding Tube

The state of being fed by a feeding tube is called gavage, enteral feeding or tube feeding.

In the final stages of dementia, assisted feeding may still be preferred over a feeding tube to bring benefits of palliative care and human interaction even when nutritional goals are not being met.

People who have surgery on their throat or stomach often have a feeding tube while recovering from surgery; a tube leading through the nose and down to the middle part of the small intestine is used, or a tube is directly placed through the abdomen to the small intestine.

Individuals who need tube feeding for a longer period of time are typically transitioned to a more permanent gastric feeding tube.

A gastric feeding tube is a tube inserted through a small incision in the abdomen into the stomach and is used for long-term enteral nutrition.

There is moderate quality evidence suggesting that the risk of aspiration pneumonia may be reduced by inserting the feeding tube into the duodenum or the jejunum, when compared to inserting the feeding tube into the stomach.

A jejunostomy feeding tube is a tube surgically or endoscopically inserted through the abdomen and into the jejunum.

What Is Enterprise Architecture?

Enterprise Architecture reduces redundancy, complexity and information silos and business risks associated with IT investments.

Practitioners of enterprise architecture, enterprise architects, are responsible for performing the analysis of business structure and processes and are often called upon to draw conclusions from the information collected to address the goals of enterprise architecture: effectiveness, efficiency, agility, and continuity of complex business operations.

Business architecture domain – describes how the enterprise is organizationally structured and what functional capabilities are necessary to deliver the business vision.

The scope of enterprise architecture includes: the people, business processes, information and technology of the enterprise, and their relationships to one another and to the external environment.

Enterprise architecture applies architecture principles and practices to guide organizations through the alignment of these architecture domains: business, information, process, and technology.

Business Architecture Framework – A conceptual view of how business blueprints, business scenarios, and business architecture knowledgebase interrelate to provide a foundation for establishing the business architecture.

Enterprise Architecture – A discipline for proactively and holistically leading enterprise responses to disruptive forces by identifying and analyzing the execution of change toward desired business vision and outcomes.

Enterprise Architecture

Requirements engineering – Enterprise architecture increases the speed of requirement elicitation and the accuracy of requirement definitions, through publishing of the enterprise architecture documentation.

Analyst firm Real Story Group suggested that enterprise architecture and the emerging concept of the digital workplace were “Two sides to the same coin.” The Cutter Consortium describes enterprise architecture as an information and knowledge-based discipline.

Despite the benefits that enterprise architecture claims to provide, for more than a decade, writers and organizations raised concerns about enterprise architecture as an effective practice.

In a 2007 report, on enterprise architecture, Gartner predicted that “… by 2012 40% of enterprise architecture programs will be stopped.”

In a 2009 article, industry commentator Dion Hinchcliffe wrote that traditional enterprise architecture might be “Broken”: “At its very best, enterprise architecture provides the bright lines that articulate the full range of possibilities for a business, even describing how to go about getting there. … Recently there’s a growing realization that traditional enterprise architecture as it’s often practiced today might be broken in some important way. What might be wrong and how to fix it are the questions du jour.”

In 2011, federal enterprise architecture consultant Stanley Gaver released a report that examined problems within the United States federal government’s enterprise architecture program.

Mr. Gaver concluded that the federal enterprise architecture program had mostly failed; this conclusion was corroborated by a similar one made by the federal government at an October 2010 meeting that was held to determine why the federal enterprise architecture program was not “As influential and successful as in the past.”

What Is Enterprise Architecture?

Enterprise architecture involves the practice of analyzing, planning, designing and eventual implementing of analysis on an enterprise.

Enterprise architecture will help multiple departments in a business understand the broader business model and articulate challenges and business risks.

Microsoft’s Michael Platt, a director in the strategic projects group, offers a view of enterprise architecture as containing four points of view: the business perspective, the application perspective, the information perspective and the technology perspective.

For technical enterprise architecture descriptions, EA could revolve around the context of software architecture, systems architecture deployment types and other steps like testing.

Enterprise architecture, in a business context, may have organizations distinguish their enterprise architecture from the technical architecture required to build and run applications.

Enterprise Cloud- What The Certs Don’T Teach!

Learning about the cloud and how this weaves into complex enterprise architecture is something you won’t find well covered via a certified course.

Cloud Skills are in high demand and there is a shortage of talent in the marketplace to cope with enterprise demands.

Learning and attainment of cloud certs are now delivered via video courses, broken down into easily consumed sections and progressed in your own time.

One of the misconceptions with attaining a cloud cert I have noticed is that there is a certain expectation that once attained this will spawn into a readiness to handle a cloud migration or lead a cloud strategy.

This is all very useful but enterprises dealing with cloud transformations have much more than cloud provider products/services to concern themselves with.

This type of enterprise nuance and learning becomes apparent on complex cloud transformation programmes or cloud strategy development.

Being involved and helping address the difficult conversations or being in an open and honest cloud team should be a top priority when trying to evolve a career path in the cloud.

What Is Enterprise Architecture? A Framework For Transformation

Enterprise architecture is the process by which organizations standardize and organize IT infrastructure to aligns with business goals.

These strategies support digital transformation, IT growth and the modernization of IT as a department.

Why No One Understands Enterprise Architecture & Why Technology Abstractions Always Fail

“Enterprise architecture is a discipline for proactively and holistically leading enterprise responses to disruptive forces by identifying and analyzing the execution of change toward desired business vision and outcomes. Thermal Management In Windows

Provides information about how Thermal management in Windows plays a key role in delivering PCs that have good performance and are safe to use – even when they are running a high-energy workload. PCs are becoming more mobile and compact, making hardware design for thermal dissipation more challenging.

The Windows thermal management framework offers a software solution that complements the hardware design.

Starting with Windows 8.1, this framework is included as part of the operating system in every Windows PC. This document describes the Windows thermal management user experience and provides recommendations and guidance to system designers for how to deliver that experience using the Windows thermal management framework or through proprietary solutions.

The goal of Windows thermal management is to limit the heat generated by the PC, but to do so in a way that minimally interferes with or detracts from the user experience.

Diagnosability – Windows prefers any thermal mitigation measures to be initiated through mechanisms that are provided by the operating system so that issues can be identified in the field and reported back via telemetry.

This topic discusses the datatypes that are used for Thermal Management in Windows.

This topic discusses the input/output controls that are used for Thermal Management in Windows.

What Is A Thermal Management System?

A thermal management system involves controlling temperature through technology.

As a specialist manufacturer of thermal management solutions, we understand how thermal management supports safety and efficiency in a broad range of applications and industries.

Any thermal management system is defined by specific parameters, and some can be more complex than others.

The main variable in a thermal management system is temperature.

The problem thermal management systems must solve is the gap between the system’s specifications and its requirements.

Another thermal management requirement is for preventing thermal runway, which can result from chemical reactions which generate excessive heat, causing a positive feedback cycle.

This kind of emission control is crucial for consistency and forms a part of the essential thermal management system for furnaces processing metals with high impurity levels and other metal materials with chemical components which could affect overall performance and quality.

Thermal Management Systems For Electric Vehicles

Lithium-ion batteries have emerged as the most promising energy storage technology in recent years due to their higher energy density, lighter weight, no memory effect, and lower self-discharge rate when compared to other rechargeable batteries types.

From the outside, a thermal management system implemented in battery packs can help to relieve the rapid temperature rise and improve the stability and safety of Li-ion batteries during charge and discharge procedures.

All HEVs, PHEVs, and EVs are necessary to be equipped with Thermal Management Systems due to the expensive battery repair, high cost of vehicles per SE, and relatively low automotive replacement rate.

Battery inconsistency and thermal boundary conditions result in temperature differences between cells in the battery pack.

These major issues necessitate carefully designed Battery Thermal Management Systems.

Battery Thermal Runaway in EV. Thermal runaway begins when the heat generated within a battery exceeds the amount of heat that is dissipated to its surroundings.

What causes the battery to overheat which leads to thermal runaway?Ambient Temperature.

Dell Power Manager No Thermal Management

We have a new Inspiron based on the Ryzen 3450U APU and it has no thermal management tab either, a year on and they are clearly not fixing this issue.

The machine defaults to zero fan speed and cooks nicely until it gets to a critical temp, it then blasts the fan at 100% until the machine is cool again and then turns the fan back off until it cooks again.

We need a fan ‘alway on’ setting, not a full blast panic mode like Dell sets it to, just a constant low fan would work fine, the APU only has a 15W TDP to deal with.

Thanks for the tip about HWINFO. I will have a look into it and see if third party software can solve what Dell doesn’t want to solve.

An automotive battery or car battery is a rechargeable battery that is used to start a motor vehicle.

The next-most common scenarios were while working on cable connections, while jump-starting, typically by failing to connect to the dead battery before the charging source and failing to connect to the vehicle chassis rather than directly to the grounded battery post, and while checking fluid levels.

Electric vehicles are powered by a high-voltage electric vehicle battery, but they usually have an automotive battery as well, so that they can use standard automotive accessories which are designed to run on 12 V. They are often referred to as auxiliary batteries.

The Hudson Motor Car Company was the first to use a standardized battery in 1918 when they started using Battery Council International batteries.

Hot cranking amperes is the amount of current a battery can provide at 80 °F. The rating is defined as the current a lead-acid battery at that temperature can deliver for 30 seconds and maintain at least 1.2 volts per cell.

Some battery manufacturers include a built-in hydrometer to show the state of charge of the battery.

Wall Street Titan’S Son Thrown Across Bar In Cocktail Party Brawl

Michael Gabelli, the feisty son of Wall Street titan Mario, is at it again, causing a scene at a party during a Rhode Island wealth management conference.

Michael, who we reported had a dramatic meltdown at hot restaurant Hunt & Fish Club last year, got in a scuffle with Matthew Sullivan, an ex- business development exec at his dad’s firm Gabelli Asset Management.

“People had to pull them apart,” says a witness, who described it as a comedy punch-up, “They were throwing punches, but no one was hitting each other because they were too drunk and kept missing. They were pushing each other, then Michael goes flailing across the bar.”

The spy continues of the fight, which took place at a cocktail party hosted by investment bank Jeffries at 41 North restaurant, “They were hurling each other across 30 feet of space through a crowd of people.” Toby Crowder, a pal of Michael’s, says, “This guy came out of nowhere and accosted him [Michael]. . . They were speaking very close in close proximity to each other. He got up into Michael’s face, then he did a beeline away and called the cops.”

A lawyer for Michael Gabelli insisted, “There may have been some pushing. . . but I am virtually certain it was not a fistfight. I would characterize it more as an unfortunate misunderstanding.”A restaurant rep added, “They were drinking too much and had a tiff.” We hear that Jim Lynch stepped in to smooth things over with cops.

Mario Gabelli Makes Record Donation To Fordham University

Billionaire investor Mario Gabelli has made a record-setting donation to Fordham University to support his namesake business school, The Post has learned.

Gabelli’s $35 million gift is the largest Fordham has received in its 179-year history, beating the $25 million record he set a decade ago when the Bronx-based university named the Gabelli School of Business in his honor.

“The underpinning of meritocracy is education. Education requires faculty, facilities, financing, and great students,” Gabelli, a Bronx native and 1965 Fordham grad, told The Post in a statement.

Gabelli’s Dec. 2 gift will fund a wide variety of programs at the business school, Fordham said, including scholarships for graduate students and hands-on experiences such as the Student Managed Investment Fund, which allows junior and senior finance students to invest more than $1 million of the university’s endowment.

The donation – made through the Gabelli Foundation – will also help the school set up more portfolios, including one focused on environmental, social and governance investing practices that will be managed by graduated and undergraduate students, according to the university.

Fordham will use up to $7 million of Gabelli’s gift to match other people’s donations toward scholarships for the business school’s MBA and Ph.D. students, university officials said.

Gabelli, 78, has made more than $65 million in gifts and pledges to his alma mater over the years, according to Fordham.
