World Economy
The world economy or the global economy is the economy of all humans of the world, referring to the global economic system which includes all economic activities which are conducted both within and between nations, including production, consumption, economic management, work in general, exchange of financial values and trade of goods and services.
It is common to limit questions of the world economy exclusively to human economic activity and the world economy is typically judged in monetary terms, even in cases in which there is no efficient market to help valuate certain goods or services, or in cases in which a lack of independent research, genuine data or government cooperation makes establishing figures difficult.
As of 2021, the following 17 countries or collectives have reached an economy of at least US$2 trillion by GDP in nominal or PPP terms: Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Russia, Spain, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States and the European Union.
The GWP is the combined gross national income of all the countries in the world.
A developed country, industrialized country, more developed country, or more economically developed country, is a sovereign state that has a developed economy and advanced technological infrastructure relative to other less industrialized nations.
The GDP of the developing countries is expected to rise from 4.3% in 2017 to 4.6% in 2018 due to political stability in those countries and advancement in technology…Least developed countries.
The least developed countries is a list of developing countries that, according to the United Nations, exhibit the lowest indicators of socioeconomic development, with the lowest Human Development Index ratings of all countries in the world.
Countries By GDP: The Top 25 Economies In The World
The United States’ economy is the largest in the world as measured by nominal GDP. The biggest contributor to that GDP is the economy’s service sector, which includes finance, real estate, insurance, professional and business services, and healthcare.
China has the world’s second largest nominal GDP in current dollars and the largest in terms of PPP. With annual growth that consistently outpaces that of the United States, China may be on track to become the largest economy in the world by nominal GDP in the years to come.
Fourth among world economies is Germany, with a 2020 GDP of $3.85 trillion.
Brazil is the 12th largest economy in the world and the largest in South America, with a 2020 GDP of $1.44 trillion.
Spain had a GDP of $1.28 trillion in 2020, making it the 14th largest economy in the world by GDP. Spain’s economy suffered severely during the Great Recession, with unemployment soaring above 25% and a rising national debt despite attempts at fiscal austerity.
The Alpine nation of Switzerland had a GDP of $752.25 billion in 2020, making it the 18th largest economy in the world.

5 Charts Show The Stages Of Global Economic Recovery Since Covid Hit
Oil prices plunged, travel came to a halt and unemployment rates spiked when the coronavirus hit in early 2020.
Two years after the WHO declared Covid a pandemic, CNBC looks at how oil demand, air travel capacity, unemployment rates, interest rates and government debt have changed since Covid emerged.
Two years after the WHO declared Covid a pandemic, here are five charts that show much – or how little – the world has recovered.
Oil prices have been on a wild ride since early 2020 in reaction to both demand and supply factors.
The travel industry was hit particularly hard by the pandemic since many countries closed their borders and encouraged residents to stay home as much as possible.
Still, interest rates are far below what they were before the pandemic hit.
Governments spent more to protect the economy from the effects of the pandemic and its economic impact.
The Geopolitics Of Fossil Fuels And Renewables Reshape The World
With 84% of our energy still coming from oil, coal and gas, much of the transition to renewable energy sources lies ahead. Just because a different future will arrive, it doesn’t meant that the present will simply cede the stage.
Renewables do not change the centrality of energy to geopolitics.
Nor, given that the energy transition will be a long one, will it quickly end the geopolitics of fossil fuels.
For nearly 200 years, fossil-fuel energy has been central to geopolitics.
The 1998-2005 coalition government in Berlin moved to renewable energy and began to phase out nuclear power, deepening German dependency on Russian gas.
There is a discernible fear in Washington DC that an age of green energy will be the age of China.
Quite simply, there is no way that governments – or the scholars who seek to advise them – can be serious about the energy transition without having a realistic strategy for the problems that history tells us will arise as the geopolitics of old and new energy sources and technologies combine.
Why Do Oil Prices Matter To The Global Economy?
As the global economy is a complex system, higher oil prices may have less effect on the global economy than traditional economic theory would suggest.
While there are many reasons to believe that higher oil prices are a factor in a weakening economy, the fact is that oil prices have a much larger impact on the global economy than many economists think.
The first reason why oil prices matter to the global economy is that it stimulates the global economy.
As a result, an increase in oil prices may be a positive factor for oil exporting nations while a decrease in oil prices could hurt their oil-importing counterparts.
Oil is the main energy source for the global economy and it accounts for 3% of the global economy.
In addition to the oil price, the economic activity in the non-OECD region also affects oil prices.
Rising oil prices can shift the supply curve for goods and services that are based on the availability of oil.
What Does World Economy Mean?
The world economy, or global economy, generally refers to the economy, which is based on economies of all of the world’s countries, national economies.
Also global economy can be seen as the economy of global society and national economies – as economies of local societies, making the global one.
Beyond the minimum standard of concerning value in production, use, and exchange on the planet Earth, definitions, representations, models, and valuations of the world economy vary widely.
The numerical value of world economy in Chaldean Numerology is: 9.Pythagorean Numerology.

Why did Facebook, why did Google… put in their money in Jio at a time when the world economy is in a mess, the Indian economy is in recession, why would they do it ? Obviously because there is more than an economic angle, it’s also I believe, indirectly… a political insurance of sorts.
Though America is carrying the world economy at the moment, that is simply not sustainable.
Post Idea #3: International Monetary Fund

International Monetary Fund
The IMF is mandated to oversee the international monetary and financial system and monitor the economic and financial policies of its member countries.
In 1995 the International Monetary Fund began to work on data dissemination standards with the view of guiding IMF member countries to disseminate their economic and financial data to the public.
At the end of March 2014, the IMF secured an $18 billion bailout fund for the provisional government of Ukraine in the aftermath of the Revolution of Dignity.
One day earlier on 11 March, the UK called to pledge £150 million to the IMF catastrophe relief fund.
International politics play an important role in IMF decision making.
The IMF is only one of many international organisations, and it is a generalist institution that deals only with macroeconomic issues; its core areas of concern in developing countries are very narrow.
The United States has historically been openly opposed to losing what Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew described in 2015 as its “Leadership role” at the IMF, and the United States’ “Ability to shape international norms and practices”.
International Monetary Fund Definition
The International Monetary Fund is an international organization that promotes global economic growth and financial stability, encourages international trade, and reduces poverty.
SDRS are an international type of monetary reserve currency created by the IMF as a supplement to the existing money reserves of member countries.
The International Monetary Fund is based in Washington, D.C. The organization is currently composed of 189 member countries, each of which has representation on the IMF’s executive board in proportion to its financial importance.
The IMF’s website describes its mission as “To foster global monetary cooperation, secure financial stability, facilitate international trade, promote high employment and sustainable economic growth, and reduce poverty around the world.”.
History of the IMF The IMF was originally created in 1945 as part of the Bretton Woods Agreement, which attempted to encourage international financial cooperation by introducing a system of convertible currencies at fixed exchange rates.
The IMF also acted as a gatekeeper: Countries were not eligible for membership in the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development-a World Bank forerunner that the Bretton Woods agreement created in order to fund the reconstruction of Europe after World War II-unless they were members of the IMF..
Surveillance The IMF collects massive amounts of data on national economies, international trade, and the global economy in aggregate.
International Monetary Fund
The International Monetary Fund is an institution of the United Nations that sets standards for the global economy with the aim of strengthening its member countries economically.
The ratio of board members from each member country depends on the country’s economic muscle, with the economic giants getting the highest representation.
Any country can apply to join the International Monetary Fund and be accepted by the majority of existing countries.
Apart from getting funds from the International Monetary Fund, member countries also have access to the economic records of all member countries.
The leadership of the International Monetary Fund comprises the Managing Director, Board of Governors, the Executive Board, and the Ministerial Committees.
The Board of Governors of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank hold an annual meeting during the IMF-World Bank Spring and Annual Meetings.
The Managing Director leads the International Monetary Fund and is also the head of staff and Chairman of the Executive Board.
What Is The International Monetary Fund?
A balance of payment problem is when a country does not have enough money to pay for all its international bills and debts.
The IMF’s main function is to lend money to countries in financial trouble, particularly those that have a balance of payment problem.
In return for the loans, the borrowing country has to implement a set of policies and economic reforms which are supposed to make their countries run more efficiently.
Throughout the 1980s, the IMF implemented structural adjustment programs throughout many countries in Latin America and Africa.
To get loans, countries have to commit to deregulating their markets, privatising public assets, reducing the size of government, cutting social spending, and getting rid of any barriers that prevent trade or capital from flowing into and out of the country.
Critics of structural adjustment argue that these policies have actually done the opposite of what they claimed to do: they have decreased growth, increased poverty and mainly served the interests of international creditors and businesses.
Despite the criticisms of structural adjustment⁸, the IMF continues to enforce the same set of policies in return for bailing out countries that are facing economic crisis.
The International Monetary Fund Scam
The International Monetary Fund Scam is all over Facebook! We have received many calls from consumers who were approached by their “Facebook friends” with the news that they had been approved for a $50,000 “Grant” from the International Monetary Fund.
Your friend writes a message like “How are you doing?” When you respond “Fine, how are you?” the friend says “I’m doing good and just waiting for my money.” You ask what money and your friend says “I’m getting this IMF grant! Didn’t you hear about it?” Your friend gives you the link, you apply and you get back a certificate that reads: “This is to certify that have been awarded the sum of $50,000 USD and has been cleared of due process and other related issues.” You are then contacted by an “Executive” with the IMF who explains that, to get your grant, you must pay the “Transportation fee” of $600 or whatever.
The scam is surprisingly effective for three reasons.
First, it comes over Facebook from one of your friends! Young people are immediately trusting of messages networked from friends.
The scammers, of course, just hijack the address books of consumers on Facebook and use this to send out messages and cheat others.
We urge consumers to be alert the next time a “Friend” sends them a strange message.
Call your friend and ask if they really sent you the message.
Definition, History, Purpose, & Facts
International Monetary Fund, United Nations specialized agency, founded at the Bretton Woods Conference in 1944 to secure international monetary cooperation, to stabilize currency exchange rates, and to expand international liquidity.
These events kindled a desire to create a new international monetary system that would stabilize currency exchange rates without backing currencies entirely with gold; to reduce the frequency and severity of balance-of-payments deficits; and to eliminate destructive mercantilist trade policies, such as competitive devaluations and foreign exchange restrictions-all while substantially preserving each country’s ability to pursue independent economic policies.
Countries with temporary, moderate balance-of-payments deficits were expected to finance their deficits by borrowing foreign currencies from the IMF rather than by imposing exchange controls, devaluations, or deflationary economic policies that could spread their economic problems to other countries.
Quotas are reviewed every five years and are based on each country’s wealth and economic performance-the richer the country, the larger its quota.
Operation Since its creation, the IMF’s principal activities have included stabilizing currency exchange rates, financing the short-term balance-of-payments deficits of member countries, and providing advice and technical assistance to borrowing countries.
Since then each member has been permitted to choose the method it uses to determine its exchange rate: a free float, in which the exchange rate for a country’s currency is determined by the supply and demand of that currency on the international currency markets; a managed float, in which a country’s monetary officials will occasionally intervene in international currency markets to buy or sell its currency to influence short-term exchange rates; a pegged exchange arrangement, in which a country’s monetary officials pledge to tie their currency’s exchange rate to another currency or group of currencies; or a fixed exchange arrangement, in which a country’s currency exchange rate is tied to another currency and is unchanging.
After losing its authority to regulate currency exchange rates, the IMF shifted its focus to loaning money to developing countries.

Pressurized fluid from the hydraulic pump turns the motor output shaft by pushing on the gears, pistons, or vanes of the hydraulic motor.
There are several variations of the gear motor, including the gerotor, differential gear motor, and roller-gerotor.
The high starting torque efficiency of vane-type motors makes them adaptable to hoist winch drives allowing the motor to start under high load. Vane motors provide good operating efficiencies, but not as high as those of piston motors.
Kq = valve flow gain; Kc = valve flow-pressure coefficient; Vt = total motor volume; βe = effective bulk modulus; Ctm = total leakage coefficient; PL = motor load pressure; Dm = motor displacement; T = motor torque generated; J = motor inertia; θ, .
There is a subsequent first-order lag between the net motor torque, including external loads, and the motor velocity.
Load sensingSensors can be used to detect if a motor is operating under ‘no-load’ conditions and to switch off the motor after a set period of no-load operation.
Potential savings vary with the level of motor loading but can be marginal for part loads greater than 50% of the motor rating.

Hydraulic Motor
A hydraulic motor is a mechanical actuator that converts hydraulic pressure and flow into torque and angular displacement.
The hydraulic motor is the rotary counterpart of the hydraulic cylinder as a linear actuator.
Most broadly, the category of devices called hydraulic motors has sometimes included those that run on hydropower but in today’s terminology the name usually refers more specifically to motors that use hydraulic fluid as part of closed hydraulic circuits in modern hydraulic machinery.
Conceptually, a hydraulic motor should be interchangeable with a hydraulic pump because it performs the opposite function – similar to the way a DC electric motor is theoretically interchangeable with a DC electrical generator.
A hydraulic motor is usually designed for working pressure at both sides of the motor, whereas most hydraulic pumps rely on low pressure provided from the reservoir at the input side and would leak fluid when abused as a motor.
For lubrication, the gear motor uses a small amount of oil from the pressurized side of the gears, bleeds this through the hydrodynamic bearings, and vents the same oil either to the low pressure side of the gears, or through a dedicated drain port on the motor housing, which is usually connected to a line that vents the motor’s case pressure to the system’s reservoir.
Hydraulic motors usually have a drain connection for the internal leakage, which means that when the power unit is turned off the hydraulic motor in the drive system will move slowly if an external load is acting on it.

The Maritimes
The pre-history of the Canadian Maritimes begins after the northerly retreat of glaciers at the end of the Wisconsin glaciation over 10,000 years ago; human settlement by First Nations began in the Maritimes with Paleo-Indians during the Early Period, ending around 6,000 years ago.
The question of why the Maritimes fell from being a centre of Canadian manufacturing to being an economic hinterland is thus a central one to the study of the region’s pecuniary difficulties.
Historian Kris Inwood places the date very early, at least in Nova Scotia, finding clear signs that the Maritimes “Golden Age” of the mid-19th century was over by 1870, before Confederation or the National Policy could have had any significant impact.
David Alexander argues that any earlier declines were simply part of the global Long Depression, and that the Maritimes first fell behind the rest of Canada when the great boom period of the early 20th century had little effect on the region.
Capitalists from Central Canada purchased the factories and industries of the Maritimes from their bankrupt local owners and proceeded to close down many of them, consolidating the industry in Central Canada.
Despite the region’s absence of economic growth on the same scale as other parts of the nation, the Maritimes has changed markedly throughout the 20th century, partly as a result of global and national economic trends, and partly as a result of government intervention.
The traditional staples thesis, advocated by scholars such as S.A. Saunders, looks at the resource endowments of the Maritimes and argues that it was the decline of the traditional industries of shipbuilding and fishing that led to Maritime poverty, since these processes were rooted in geography, and thus all but inevitable.

The Maritimes are a region of Canada on the Atlantic coast, consisting of the three provinces New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.
The Maritimes are located northeast of New England, southeast of Quebec’s Gasp peninsula, and southwest of Newfoundland.
Newfoundland and Labrador is sometimes mistakenly included in the Maritimes, however it can only be called part of Atlantic Canada.
Although it is located on the Atlantic coast, the Gulf of Saint Lawrence physically separates it from the Maritimes.
It also has a uniquely different history, as it only joined Canada one century after the three Maritime provinces.
CultureThe Maritimes are home to a French-speaking minority, the Acadians.
The Canadian Encyclopedia
The word “Maritimes” is a regional designation for the Canadian provinces of Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
Until the American Revolution shattered the Anglo-American empire, the Maritime region was “New England’s outpost,” and even today economic, cultural, religious and social ties between the regions are surprisingly strong.
Many Maritimers believed that their region had unlimited economic potential and that theirs was the most sophisticated and best-administered of all the British colonies possessing responsible government.
Most Maritimers blamed the federal government, based on the following observations: before Confederation there was widespread prosperity and the region shared a feeling of optimism and pride.
The anti-Confederation feeling, especially strong in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, provided the emotional substance to much of Maritime regional protest, particularly from 1867-1930.
The Maritime Rights Movement of the 1920s was the last significant manifestation of regional protest and anti-Confederation feeling, and by the end of the decade, the mood in the region had obviously changed.
No longer were Maritimers the most vociferous critics of Confederation and Canada; they had become, in an ironic twist of historical development, ardently Canadian.

Central Heating Systems: What Kinds Are There Available?
Your central heating system plays an important role in your home – keeping you supplied with the heat and hot water that make life so much more comfortable.
What types of central heating systems are available?
Central heating is a way of providing warmth in your home from, as the name suggests, one central source.
Electric central heating boilers are also available.
Electric central heating vs. gas central heating.
The main benefit of installing electric central heating is that it is available to homes not on the gas grid.
Electric night storage heaters are easier to install than gas central heating apparatus, as far as central heating installation goes, mainly because they require fewer parts.
How A Central Heating System Works
Simply put, a central gas heating system creates a cycle of increasing the temperature of cooler air.
2.The heat produced passes through a heat exchanger, making it hot.
Of course, the central heating system components must work together to keep you comfortable.
The temperature control, which is regulated by the furnace control board, turns on the ignition switch and starts the heating process when the thermostat or control system calls for heat.
When the thermostat or control system calls for heat, the gas burners valves are open to deliver gas and burn fuel.
The gas combusts inside the heat exchanger, creating heat that is used to heat the passing air.
Condensing furnaces – uses a second heat exchanger to heat the air from condensed exhaust gases to reach higher efficiencies.
How Does Central Heating & Cooling Work?
How does central cooling work? Air conditioners function by taking heat and humidity from your home and releasing it outside, to ultimately drop the temperature in your home.
How does central heating work? Central heating systems can work in the same general way as central cooling systems by moving air around to change the temperature in your home.
Central heating system options There are two main options for central heating systems: heat pumps and furnaces.
We mentioned heat pumps earlier in the central cooling section because they can switch between heating and cooling functions depending on the temperature.
The central heating processes All central heating processes start the same way central cooling processes do: a thermostat registers the temperature and kicks off the HVAC system.
Controlling your central heating and cooling systems As we’ve already mentioned, thermostats are essential components of central heating and cooling systems.
Heating and cooling installation: What to expect Understanding heating and cooling product installation is important before you buy an HVAC system.

Non-bank mobile payments providers are devising ways to streamline the current payments system and reduce transaction costs by limiting the role banks play in mobile payments or eliminating them from segments of the payments process altogether.
21 In the U.S. marketplace, there are at least five distinct roles served by banks involved in processing a single credit/debit card transaction: an issuing bank that holds the customer relationship and authorizes payment; an acquiring bank responsible for providing access to the payment networks; a merchant business bank that holds the funds collected on payments; a settlement bank that moves money among the issuing/acquiring banks; and in some cases a payment card sponsoring bank used to manage bank payment card programs.

ITC Rejects Infringement Claims Against Ocado For Second Time
Ocado, which has been locked in a series of legal battles with the Norwegian robot maker for a number of years, said all of the claims had now been rejected for a second time or abandoned by AutoStore, while AutoStore’s key cavity bot patents, the UK versions of which were the only patents being asserted against Ocado in a High Court case starting next week, were all found to be invalid.
The London-listed group stated it would continue to actively pursue its claims against AutoStore for infringement of its own IP rights in both the United States and Europe, including its antitrust “Walker Process” claim against AutoStore in East Virginia and its infringement of five Ocado patents in New Hampshire.
Ocado anticipates court determinations injuncting AutoStore and awarding it with damages for the company’s infringement of its patents.
The group added that it now expects “Further vindication” in London’s High Court in the weeks ahead, where AutoStore has already abandoned half of the patents in the case.
“AJ Bell’s Russ Mould said:”Fighting over patent infringement has been a major distraction for Ocado and may have acted as a deterrent for new customers signing up to its logistics platform.
“Autostore said it intends to appeal the decision in a US federal court but stated it would discontinue its appeal in the European Patent Office in Germany given the patent was”no longer relevant” to its UK infringement case.

Indian Can Reduce Dependence On Importing Crude Oil And Metals By Executing A Two-Year Plan To Go Forward: Anil Agarwal, Chairman, Vedanta
“This is an alarming situation for us as we are going on with the imports. There are no other options available for us,” Agarwal pointed out.
Agarwal pointed out, “In India, we make less than one million barrels. We can make the cheapest oil in the world and can produce three million barrels in two years as our aluminium production can also increase.”
“We can produce the cheapest aluminum and gold in the world. We have such an immense reserve of copper yet we import copper. We can go forward to accomplish all these by initiating a two-year target,” Agarwal said.
Crude oil prices jumped again on Wednesday in the midst of Russia-Ukraine conflict, as per a Reuters report.
There has also been a new U.S ban on Russian oil.

Fiber Reinforced Plastics
AbstractCarbon fiber reinforced plastic materials are the future lightweight materials, being well-received in all industries, including the automotive industry, better than other lightweight materials.
CFRP-based devices are expensive because of the raw material, carbon fiber.
KCTECH is a specialized research institute established for research and development in the Korean carbon industry, including: multitow spreading machine, hybrid braiding machine, manufacturing system of thermoplastic carbon prepreg with multifunction, automated fiber placement machine, carbon fiber preform manufacturing system, high-pressure resin transfer molding system, high precision compression molding press with high temperature, winding machine of carbon fiber, vacuum microwaves kiln for fast CFRP curing, 3D dynamic waterjet cutting system for CFRP, and machining center for high-strength composite parts reinforced carbon fiber.
Natural fiber reinforced plastic composite processingNFRP composites are materials with a high degree of biodegradability and recyclability.
Glass fiber-reinforced plastics are composite materials manufactured by laminating unsaturated polyester resin with glass fiber and filler.
Carbon fiber-reinforced plastics consist of carbon fiber and epoxy resin.
FRP can be better exploited when the adhesive introduces the load into the complete cross-section and/or penetrates the fiber layers.
FIBER REINFORCED PLASTIC
FIBER REINFORCED PLASTIC. Fiber-reinforced plastic is a composite material made of a polymer matrix reinforced with fibres.
The original plastic material without fibre reinforcement is known as the matrix or binding agent.
The matrix is a tough but relatively weak plastic that is reinforced by stronger stiffer reinforcing filaments or fibres.
When the raw material contains reinforcing fibres, a compression molded part qualifies as a fiber reinforced plastic.
More typically the plastic preform used in compression molding does not contain reinforcing fibres.
To be suitable as reinforcement material, fibre additives must increase the tensile strength and modulus of elasticity of the matrix and meet the following conditions; fibres must exceed critical fibre content; the strength and rigidity of fibres itself must exceed the strength and rigidity of the matrix alone; and there must be optimum bonding between fibres and matrix.
Glass fibre is by far the most popular means to reinforce plastic and thus enjoys a wealth of production processes, some of which are applicable to aramid and carbon fibres as well owing to their shared fibrous qualities.
Fibre-Reinforced Plastic
The matrix is a tough but relatively weak plastic that is reinforced by stronger stiffer reinforcing filaments or fibres.
The extent that strength and elasticity are enhanced in a fibre-reinforced plastic depends on the mechanical properties of both the fibre and matrix, their volume relative to one another, and the fibre length and orientation within the matrix.
Confusingly, many glass fibre composites continued to be called “Fibreglass” and the name was also used for the low-density glass wool product containing gas instead of plastic.
The fibre preform can be dry fibre, or fibre that already contains a measured amount of resin called “Prepreg”.
Fibres can be oriented to reinforce against specific stresses, increasing the durability and safety…. Aluminium windows, doors and façades are thermally insulated by using thermal insulation plastics made of glass fibre reinforced polyamide.
Panolam Surface Systems
Our Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic is a strong composite material that repels dirt and stains making it an ideal surface for high-use commercial settings and service areas that depend on sanitary conditions.
Comprised of an impact-resistant material commonly used in the aerospace, automotive, marine, and construction industries, our FRP surfaces protect against rot, stain, mold and mildew, and will not dent or splinter even under the most strenuous conditions.
If you need a wall or ceiling panel that is easy to clean and can withstand heavy use, this is the panel system for you.
Fibre Reinforced Plastic Systems
LIFECYCLE. COST ECONOMICS. FRP has a proven longer service life than stainless steel and other high nickel alloys, with FRP case studies dating back to 1979 and with most of the subject cases still in service today.
FRP made from epoxy vinyl ester resin has a good or better chemical resistance than Alloy-C276 and is superior to 2205 stainless steel.
TANKS AND VESSELS.Fibreglass reinforced plastic tanks and vessels, including the auxiliary components, can be fabricated in virtually any shape or configuration, demonstrating the flexibility inherent with FRP composites.
FRP duct systems have a long history in industries such as Power, FGD, Metals and Mining, Pulp & Paper, Chemical Processing, and Odour Control.
SCRUBBERS.Industrial scrubbers/absorbers, shells, and vessel internals have been manufactured using FRP for many years due to the corrosion resistance and dependability of Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic.
With the proper material selection, FRP can provide long-term corrosion resistance and low maintenance costs in applications where carbon steel, stainless steel, duplex stainless steel, coatings, linings are simply not a long-term solution.
STACKS AND CHIMNEY LINERS.Industries such as Pulp & Paper, Metals & Mining, Chemical Processing, and Power & FGD successfully utilize FRP Stacks in process systems in which FRP has superior corrosion resistance.
What Is A Fiber-Reinforced Plastic?
Fiber-reinforced plastic is a composite material made up of polymer that is supported with fibers for added strength.
It is commonly used in industries such as aerospace, construction and marine to build structures that require added resistance to force in order to prevent deformation.
Fiber-reinforced plastic is useful in terms of corrosion protection because it helps in preventing corrosion due to force application and deformation such as stress corrosion cracking.
Fiber-reinforced plastic may also be known as fiber-reinforced polymer.
Fiber-reinforced plastic is produced using a wide range of fibers depending on the final usage requirements.
Fibers can be sourced from glass, carbon, aramid and other sources.
It is vital to ensure that the fiber source of fiber-reinforced plastic suits the application that it is to be used in.

Unless otherwise required by law, ridesharing companies have classified drivers as independent contractors and not employees under employment law, arguing that they receive certain flexibilities not generally received by employees.
California Assembly Bill 5 was passed to force drivers to be classified as employees in California, although ridesharing companies received an exemption by 2020 California Proposition 22, a ballot initiative.
Crimes have been committed by rideshare drivers as well as by individuals posing as rideshare drivers who lure unsuspecting passengers to their vehicles by placing an emblem on their car or by claiming to be a passenger’s expected driver.
Taxi companies have sued ridesharing companies for various reasons, including allegedly operating illegal taxicab operations; however, they rarely, if ever, been successful.
While ridesharing companies require drivers to transport service animals, drivers have been criticized for refusal to transport service animals, which, in the United States, is in violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Meissen Porcelain
Meissen porcelain or Meissen china was the first European hard-paste porcelain.
The production of porcelain in the royal factory at Meissen, near Dresden, started in 1710 and attracted artists and artisans to establish, arguably, the most famous porcelain manufacturer known throughout the world.
Dresden porcelain was once the usual term for these wares, until the Oberlandesgericht decided in favour of the Saxon Porcelain Manufactory Dresden, which alone was then allowed to use the name Dresden Porcelain.
In 1720 Johann Gregor Herold became the director and in 1723 introduced brilliant overglaze colours that made Meissen porcelain famous, with an increasingly broad palette of colors that marked the beginning of the classic phase of Meissen porcelain.
The Kakiemon floral decoration of vases and tea wares in Japanese export porcelain were combined with Chinese famille verte to create a style known as Indianische Blume; Augustus had large collections of both Chinese and Japanese porcelain.
The Meissen repertoire had a huge influence on other European porcelain factories, and the porcelain figure is a defining object for the Rococo.
A Meissen porcelain chocolate pot, cover, and stand, dated c.1780, were amongst the wedding gifts of Queen Elizabeth II. Ehrenfried Walther von Tschirnhaus, inventor of Meissen porcelain.
Meissen Porcelain is one of the preeminent porcelain factories in Europe and was the first to produce true porcelain outside of Asia.
These, along with examples of early Meissen, comprise the Porzellansammlung, or porcelain collection, of the Zwinger Palace, in Dresden.
In 1709, the pair succeeded in doing just that, employing kaolin, or “China clay.” A year later, the Meissen factory was born.
In its first decades, Meissen mostly looked to Asian models, producing wares based on Japanese Kakiemon ceramics and pieces with Chinese-inflected decorations, called chinoiseries.
The rise of Neoclassicism in the latter half of the 18th century forced Meissen to change artistic direction and begin producing monumental vases, clocks, chandeliers and candelabra.
In the 20th century, Meissen added to its 18th-century repertoire decidedly modern designs, including ones in the Art Nouveau style.
Meissen became one of the few companies to prosper in East Germany.
Meissen Porcelain: A Guide To History, Patterns, And Prices
The excitement over that diminutive set – minus its teapot, no less – was owed to its rarity and maker: Meissen porcelain, the gold standard of porcelain producers that possesses a legacy stretching back hundreds of years.
The story of Meissen porcelain began in 1708, when Ehrenfried Walther von Tschirnhaus developed his own method for making hard-paste porcelain in his castle workshop in Meissen, Germany.
From the iconic Scwhanenservice designed for the company’s director in the late 1730s to the chocolate pot gifted to Queen Elizabeth II at the time of her wedding, Meissen porcelain has proven to be a perennial favorite.
Antique Meissen has grown exponentially in price in recent years, but collectors who have a keen eye for the beauty and craftsmanship of Meissen wares can still search out a relative bargain.
Considered one of the most spectacular porcelain dinner services ever created, the Meissen “Swan Service” was conjured by designer Johann Joachim Kändler for Count Heinrich von Brühl, who became the director of Meissen in 1739.
Meissen figurines were one of the earliest creations in the history of the Meissen brand.
Accordingly, prices for these rare and remarkable pieces are sure to keep climbing; however, investing in Meissen means becoming part of a decorative art history that extends from the tables of royalty to today’s hallowed museum halls.
Meissen Porcelain: Meissen Marks And The History Of Meissen –
A brief look at the origins of Meissen porcelain and the characters involved.
The Meissen Porcelain story began when Augustus II The Strong; Elector of Saxony and King of Poland, protected the goldsmith Johann Friedrich Bottger from the Prussians pursuing him.
The know how experience and passion for the white gold known as porcelain has defined the character of Meissens porcelain production over the past centuries and still does today.
In 1732around 92 people worked for Meissen porcelain , among them the famous modellers J.G. Kirchner and J.J. Kändler.
From 1756-1773 meissen porcelain was marked with the crossed swords with a dot in between the crosspieces and the period was known as the dot-period.
The Meissen factory is still operational today and is producing the worlds’ most expensive porcelain.
From the 1730s, exquisitely detailed harbour and military scenes were reproduced on a wide range of Meissen porcelain wares.

Meissen Porcelain: Collecting Guide
European Ceramics specialist Dominic Simpson on the origins of the Meissen factory, from the man who claimed he could create gold to the monarch who commissioned a porcelain menagerie, plus advice on what to collect and how to spot a fake.
Porcelain was developed in China around 2,000 years ago, but the method for making it remained a mystery to Europeans until the early 18th century when Johann Friedrich Böttger discovered the magic formula, and in 1710 the Meissen factory was established.
The idea for making small figures in porcelain came from the sugar ornaments seen on fashionable dining tables all over Europe at the beginning of the 18th century.
The arrival of porcelain made these figures more permanent, and more valuable.
Many porcelain figures – from those in pastoral scenes to depictions of street traders – were in fact designed as table decorations, and not made to sit in cabinets as they do today.
One of the more common figures in Meissen porcelain was that of the Harlequin.
If the mass of products coming out of the Meissen factory in the early 18th century wasn’t enough, Augustus had the extraordinary idea of creating a menagerie of enormous porcelain animals – from exotic birds to elephants and rhinoceroses.
Dr. Lori Ph.D. Antiques Appraiser
Meissen porcelain is still made today as Staatliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Meissen GmbH. By 1720, the Meissen factory, based on Johann Friedrich Bottger’s method for producing hard paste porcelain, made some of the finest porcelain in the world.
There are many Meissen pieces that are of special interest to collectors and well document the diverse and interesting history of Meissen porcelain.
All Meissen pieces are of very high quality and are expensive to collect, but these particular pieces and dinnerware patterns have a special place in the history of Meissen ceramics.
Vase sets, figurine groups, and other assemblies of porcelain objects by Meissen should be kept together in order to command the best price when selling your antiques.
Many people ask me, should you restore your Meissen piece if it is broken? Meissen porcelain, unlike many other types of porcelains, is highly decorated and finely detailed so often times the delicate pieces break.
Collectors of Meissen porcelain include the elite classes of Russia, France, England, members of the American upper class such as the Vanderbilt, Astor, and Carnegie families, and HRH Queen Elizabeth II, who received pieces of Meissen as wedding, coronation, and birthday gifts.

Heat Transfer
Thermodynamic and mechanical heat transfer is calculated with the heat transfer coefficient, the proportionality between the heat flux and the thermodynamic driving force for the flow of heat.
Convective heat transfer, or simply, convection, is the transfer of heat from one place to another by the movement of fluids, a process that is essentially the transfer of heat via mass transfer.
Although sometimes discussed as a third method of heat transfer, convection is usually used to describe the combined effects of heat conduction within the fluid and heat transference by bulk fluid flow streaming.
In the case of heat transfer in fluids, where transport by advection in a fluid is always also accompanied by transport via heat diffusion the process of heat convection is understood to refer to the sum of heat transport by advection and diffusion/conduction.
The Rayleigh number can be understood as the ratio between the rate of heat transfer by convection to the rate of heat transfer by conduction; or, equivalently, the ratio between the corresponding timescales, up to a numerical factor.
A heat exchanger is used for more efficient heat transfer or to dissipate heat.
The thermosphere cools to space primarily by infrared energy radiated by carbon dioxide at 15 μm and by nitric oxide at 5.3 μm. Convective transport of heat and evaporative transport of latent heat both remove heat from the surface and redistribute it in the atmosphere.
What Is Heat Transfer? Conduction, Convection, Radiation And FAQs
Talking about heat transfer, it is nothing but the process of transfer of heat from the high-temperature body to a low temperature one.
What is Heat Transfer? According to thermodynamic systems, heat transfer is defined as.
If the temperature difference exists between the two systems, heat will find a way to transfer from the higher to the lower system.
Conduction is also known as thermal conduction or heat conduction.
Radiation heat transfer is measured by the device known as thermocouple.
In this device sometimes, error takes place while measuring the temperature through radiation heat transfer.

IV Oceanic Heat FlowWhen heat flow was first measured in the oceans in the early 1950s, expectations were that oceanic heat flow would be much lower than continental heat flow because thin, basaltic oceanic crust is much less rich in the heat-producing isotopes than thick, granitic continental crust.
Early data indicated that oceanic heat flow was approximately equal to continental heat flow and current data indicate that mean oceanic heat flow is approximately 70% higher than mean continental heat flow.
Measured heat flow is low because only the conductive component of the total heat loss is measured, and, by redistribution of heat flow, the convecting seawater results in large areas of recharge with low heat flow and very small areas of discharge with high heat flow.
Convection is transfer of heat because of the motion of atoms, molecules, or aggregates of molecules carrying heat from one place to another.
Understanding the fundamentals of heat flow and the basic features of heat transfer, such as the cooling rates of the weld metal, the distribution of heat between the weld metal and heat-affected zone provides insight into ways in which the welding process can be optimized.
Considering an energy balance on the basis of fuel heating value for a naturally aspirated compression ignition engine with an indicated efficiency of 45%, nearly 25% of the fuel energy is removed by cooling water, with about 2% due to friction, 8% heat loss due to combustion, 6% heat loss during expansion, and 9% heat loss during exhaust; values for spark-ignition engines are a larger fraction of the fuel heating value.
The main heat transfer modes of a heat exchanger are forced convection, due to movement of two fluids exchanging heat, and conduction, due to physical barriers that are used in the heat exchanger to separate the two fluids at different temperatures.
Introduction, Modes, Example And Equation
Examples of modes of heat transfer of those are given below.
Some modes of heat transfer examples are when frying vegetables in a pan, Heat transfer takes place from the flame to the pan and next to the vegetables.
H = Q /.here h is the heat transfer coefficient, Q is the heat input of the system or the heat that has been lost, A is the surface area where the heat is transferred, T is the temperature difference in between solid surface and the surrounding fluid area, and ∆t is the change in time which comprises the time period in which the heat transfer has occurred constantly.
Depending on the ways in which heat is transferred, the heat transfer coefficient is calculated in different ways possible.
One of the modes of heat transfer examples is Heating milk in a pan.
One of the modes of heat transfer examples is in an oven, the substances are heated directly without a heating medium.
ΔQΔt A(T1-T2)x.The resultant heat transfer equation will be, ΔQΔt = K A(T1-T2)x.where, K is the coefficient of heat transfer.
What Is Heat Transfer
Heat transfer is an engineering discipline that concerns the generation, use, conversion, and exchange of heat between physical systems.
Heat convection occurs when bulk flow of a fluid carries heat along with the flow of matter in the fluid.
Radiation is heat transfer by electromagnetic radiation, such as sunshine, with no need for matter to be present in the space between bodies.
Heat transfer is commonly encountered in engineering systems and other aspects of life, and one does not need to go very far to see some application areas of heat transfer.
Detailed knowledge of heat transfer mechanisms is also essential for reactor engineers as well as all other engineers.
The heat transfer must be equal to or greater than the heat generation rate or overheating and possible damage to the fuel may occur.
In reactor engineering, the thermal-hydraulics of nuclear reactors describe the effort involving the coupling of heat transfer and fluid dynamics to accomplish the desired heat removal rate from the core under both normal operation and accident conditions.
Introduction to Heat Transfer R. Shankar Subramanian Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Clarkson University Heat transfer is the study of the flow of heat.
Chemical reactors can generate heat if the reaction is exothermic, and this heat must be removed to avoid a runaway reaction; likewise, endothermic reactions need a supply of heat to maintain the reaction.
Uses the lower case symbol q for this heat flow rate; most others use capital Q for the heat flow rate, and lower case q to designate the heat flow rate per unit area, or heat flux.
We reach the conclusion that the heat flux q must remain constant, independent of x. If we wish to determine this heat flux from a knowledge of the temperatures of the two surfaces, we must have a model that relates the heat flux to temperatures.
The heat flux can be written as dT ∆T q = k −k = dx L and the steady heat flow rate through the slab, Q = qA , is obtained as Q = kA ∆T L This can be recast as = Q ∆T Driving Force = L / kA Resistance 4 Fourier’s Law Because there are no temperature variations in the y and z directions in the problem we just modeled, the components of the heat flux in those two directions are zero, but in general heat flux has a direction in space as well as a magnitude, so that it is a vector.
The ambient fluid is at temperature To , and heat transfer between the right surface of the slab and the ambient fluid is described by a heat transfer coefficient h. At steady state the same amount of heat Q must flow through the slab and out to the fluid.
11 Multiple Resistances in Series – The Overall Heat Transfer Coefficient U We can extend the idea developed above for one conduction resistance and one convective heat transfer resistance in series in a straightforward manner to multiple resistances within the slab and convective heat transfer resistances on both sides.
PART 3 INTRODUCTION TO ENGINEERING HEAT TRANSFER Introduction to Engineering Heat Transfer These notes provide an introduction to engineering heat transfer.
Thigh Tlow Heat “Flows” to right Solid Figure 1.1: Conduction heat transfer The second heat transfer process is convection, or heat transfer due to a flowing fluid.
In convection heat transfer, the heat is moved through bulk transfer of a non-uniform temperature fluid.
Muddy points How do we quantify the contribution of each mode of heat transfer in a given situation? 2.0 Conduction Heat Transfer We will start by examining conduction heat transfer.
From equation, the heat transfer rate in at the left is = −k⎛ A dT ⎞. Q dx x The heat transfer rate on the right is = Q + dQ dx + L. Q dx x Using the conditions on the overall heat flow and the expressions in and ⎛⎜Q + dQdx + L⎞⎟ = 0.
In the composite slab shown in Figure 2.5, the heat flux is constant with x. The resistances are in series and sum to R = R1 + R2. If TL is the temperature at the left, and TR is the temperature at the right, the heat transfer rate is given by T TR TL TR Q& = L =. The Concept Of Biorefinery
A biorefinery is a facility that integrates biomass conversion processes and equipment to produce fuels, power, and value-added chemicals from biomass.
Biorefinery is analogous to today’s petroleum refinery, which produces multiple fuels and products from petroleum.
By producing several products, a biorefinery takes advantage of the various components in biomass and their intermediates, therefore maximizing the value derived from the biomass feedstock.
A biorefinery could, for example, produce one or several low-volume, but high-value, chemical products and a low-value, but high-volume liquid transportation fuel such as biodiesel or bioethanol.
There are several biorefinery platforms which can be employed in a biorefinery with the major ones being the sugar platform and the thermochemical platform.
Sugar platform biorefineries breaks down biomass into different types of component sugars for fermentation or other biological processing into various fuels and chemicals.
The National Renewable Energy Laboratory of USA is leading the front in biorefinery research with path-breaking discoveries and inventions.
ScienceDirect Topics
The basic processing for a unit of biomass, the processing steps and efficiencies for the three Biorefineries are depicted in Figure 10.1.a-c. The processing plan for Biorefinery A is based on the current state of technology available for biodiesel production from the existing literature and industrial processing [3,53,54].
For Biorefineries B and C, the processing and separation of recombinant proteins from culture water is considered a disruptive technology which requires development via novel strains of algae and innovative process engineering concepts.
In the last decade, there has been growing interest in the field of processing algal biomass in hydrothermal processing.
Hydrothermal processing is a clean technology that converts algal biomass into value-added chemicals and bioenergy.
The acquisition of seaweed biomass as raw materials used in a given process is referred to as sourcing.
Given the early-stage nature of seaweed offshore cultivation and biorefinery, it is sometimes inevitable to transfer knowledge and process data for other types of feedstocks to seaweed.
A seminal report titled “Top Value Added Chemicals from Biomass” by Werpy and Petersen in 2004 details the results of a screening process to determine the potential for producing building block chemicals from these sugars.
Biorefinery Definition & Meaning

Fueled by corn stover-the stalk and leaves that are left in the field after farmers harvest their crop.
Integrated Biorefineries
Integrated biorefineries use novel technologies and diverse biomass feedstocks-requiring significant investments in research, development, and deployment to reduce costs, improve performance, and achieve competitiveness with fossil fuels.
Our partner biorefineries are demonstrating the technical and economic viability of integrating and scaling up a range of innovative technologies-fostering private investment in the growing U.S. bioeconomy.
A crucial step in developing the U.S. bioindustry is to establish first-of-a-kind integrated biorefineries that are capable of efficiently converting a broad range of biomass feedstocks into commercially viable biofuels, biopower, and other bioproducts.
Integrated biorefineries are similar to conventional refineries in that they produce a range of products to optimize both the use of feedstocks and production economics.
Integrated biorefineries employ various combinations of feedstock and conversion technologies to produce a variety of products, with the main focus on producing biofuels.
Federal support for first-of-a-kind integrated biorefineries can help validate costs and performance, thus reducing the technical and financial risks associated with deploying new technology for the U.S. bioeconomy.
Verifying these technologies at smaller, partially integrated scales is essential to reduce risk and technology uncertainty, and will enable applied R&D programs to reduce costs and improve performance in feedstock and conversion processes.

An Overview Of Biorefinery Derived Platform Chemicals From A Cellulose And Hemicellulose Biorefinery
This is exemplified by the industrial production of platform chemicals such as ethanol, lactic acid, succinic acid, levulinic acid, sorbitol, and 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid from biomass.
The presence of hemicellulose and lignin hinders accessibility of the enzyme and/or acid in reaching the cellulose and thus limits the extent of the hydrolysis process.
First, C5 polysaccharides present in biomass hemicellulose are hydrolyzed by mineral acids to produce monosaccharides, primarily xylose, which is then converted into furfural by an acid catalyzed dehydration.
Levulinic acid derived diphenolic acid can serve as a substitute for bisphenol-A in food containers and consumer products.
3-Hydroxypropionic acid and 3-hydroxypropionaldehyde:3-HP and 3-HPA are important platform chemicals which can be converted to various higher value-added chemicals.
As a platform chemical 3-HP and 3-HPA can be converted to various value-added chemicals such as acrolein, acrylic acid, acrylic acid esters and amides, 1,3-propanediol, malonic acid and 3-hydroxypropionic esters.
The conversion of cellulose to sorbitol has also been reported using catalysts containing an acid or heteropolyacid with supported metal catalysts such as Pt, or Ru. Approximately, 15% of the sorbitol produced is utilized in the industrial conversion into ascorbic acid by fermentation.

Inertial Navigation System
An inertial navigation system is a navigation device that uses a computer, motion sensors and rotation sensors to continuously calculate by dead reckoning the position, the orientation, and the velocity of a moving object without the need for external references.
Other terms used to refer to inertial navigation systems or closely related devices include inertial guidance system, inertial instrument, inertial measurement unit and many other variations.
Performing integration on the inertial accelerations using the correct kinematic equations yields the inertial velocities of the system and integration again yields the inertial position.
Accordingly, inertial navigation is usually used to supplement other navigation systems, providing a higher degree of accuracy than is possible with the use of any single system.
The Atlas guidance system was to be a combination of an on-board autonomous system and a ground-based tracking and command system.
Inertial guidance systems are now usually combined with satellite navigation systems through a digital filtering system.
The inertial system provides short term data, while the satellite system corrects accumulated errors of the inertial system.
A Wide Range Of INS And INS/GNSS
SBG Systems offers a wide line of INS suitable whether your applications requirements are size or performance.
An Inertial Navigation System, also called INS, is a navigation device that provides roll, pitch, heading, position, and velocity.
The IMU measures Euler angles in 3 axis thanks to their rotation along with the IMU to obtain pitch, roll, and yaw.
Inertial Navigation Sensors can also integrate an internal or external GNSS receiver for Navigation data and velocity.
Put another way, at any point in space-time the equivalence principle guarantees the existence of a local inertial frame, and an accelerometer measures the acceleration relative to that frame.
A Gyroscope is a physical sensor that detects and measures the angular motion of an object relative to an inertial reference frame.
A magnetometer is a measuring sensor used to measure the strength or direction of magnetic fields in order to provide bearing.
Basic Principles of Inertial Navigation Seminar on inertial navigation systems Tampere University of Technology 1 The five basic forms of navigation Pilotage, which essentially relies on recognizing landmarks to know where you are.
Radio navigation, which relies on radio‐frequency sources with known locations Inertial navigation, which relies on knowing your initial position, velocity, and attitude and thereafter measuring your attitude rates and accelerations.
The subject of our seminar is the fifth form of navigation – inertial navigation.
3 Basic principle of inertial navigation Given the ability to measure the acceleration of vehicle it would be possible to calculate the change in velocity and position by performing successive mathematical integrations of the acceleration with respect to time.
4 What does an INS consist of? An inertial navigation uses gyroscopes and accelerometers to maintain an estimate of the position, velocity, and attitude rates of the vehicle in or on which the INS is carried, which could be a land vehicle, aircraft, spacecraft, missile, surface ship, or submarine.

20 Synergism with GPS GPS integration has not only made inertial navigation platform better, it made it cost less Sensor errors that were unacceptable for stand‐alone INS operation became acceptable for integrated operation Manufacturing and calibration costs for removing these errors could be eliminated New low‐cost MEMS sensor technologies could be applied INS also benefits GPS performance by carrying the navigation solution during loss of GPS signals and allowing rapid re‐aquisition 21 Relation to guidance and control Navigation is concerned with determining where you are relative to where you want to be.
What Is An Inertial Navigation System? · VectorNav
As we mentioned above an inertial navigation system uses an inertial measurement unit consisting of accelerometers, gyroscopes, and sometimes magnetometers.
VELOCITY AND POSITION. Unaided inertial navigation, also known as dead-reckoning, requires extremely accurate inertial sensors to provide suitably accurate position and velocity estimation for navigation purposes.
A variety of error sources within the inertial sensors measurements themselves lead to unbounded error growth in the INS navigation solution, such as bias, noise, scale factor errors, misalignments, temperature dependencies, and gyro g-sensitivity.
The performance of the gyro typically dominates the position errors when performing a pure integration of inertial sensors.
Finally, a solution for position error has been found that factors all significant sources of error found in inertial navigation.
WRAPPING UP. We have highlighted the contributions of the various significant error sources to estimating the position error growth for an unaided inertial navigation solution.
Using the data from the table above we can then estimate the position error grow, or drift, over time for the various grades of inertial sensors.

Also the attitude will be changed from euler’s roll, pitch, and yaw to quaternions.
If a drift is not properly accounted for, and the IMU thinks it is rotating, then the 4 Inertial Navigation FIGURE 4 Overview of the extended kalman filter’s integration with the INS. navigation equations will not properly account for gravity and the system will think it is moving due to a maximum acceleration of 9.8 m s 2 depending on how far the system has drifted.
To give an idea of the performance of a strap-down system, the following quote is taken from an article written by A. D. King, Chief Engineer of Navigation and Electro-optic Systems Division of Marconi Electronic Systems.
“Many of these instrument errors vary each time you switch the system on – INS have good days and bad days. To characterize the performance of an INS, you have to resort to statistics, and take the r.m.s. total error from an ensemble of many representative missions. A typical standard expected from a ‘good’ INS produces an error that increases with time, and reaches.6 miles after one hour.” Vibrations Vibration in a strap-down system can cause many problems with the INS. Generally great care must be taken to isolate the IMU from any resonance frequencies.
In high precision systems, various tests must be done to try to identify what these frequencies are then design elaborate mounts to hold the IMU. E. Extended Kalman Filter In addition to the prefiltering of the IMU data, an extended kalman filter was developed to estimate the biases and drifts of the system and then update the navigational solution.
These gyros are much less expensive to produce, but performed at least an order of magnitude worse than another low cost IMU system being developed by Dr. Crane here at U.F. That system uses an IMU developed from Honeywell which has ring laser gyros.

Uk/techreports/ ISSN 1476-2986 An introduction to inertial navigation Oliver J. Woodman Abstract Until recently the weight and size of inertial sensors has prohibited their use in domains such as human motion capture.
Recent improvements in the performance of small and lightweight micromachined electromechanical systems inertial sensors have made the application of inertial techniques to such problems possible.
For a simple inertial navigation system based on the Xsens Mtx inertial measurement unit, we show that the average error in position grows to over 150 m after 60 seconds of operation.
The reader should note that whilst this report aims to provide a broad introduction to the subject of inertial navigation, the latter chapters focus mainly on strapdown type inertial navigation systems using micro-machined electromechanical systems devices.
The report is structured as follows: Section 2 introduces the reader to inertial navigation, its uses, and the two main varieties of inertial navigation system.
3 Section 6 describes strapdown inertial navigation in more detail and explains how errors in individual gyroscopes and accelerometers propagate through the navigation system as a whole.
2 Inertial Navigation Inertial navigation is a self-contained navigation technique in which measurements provided by accelerometers and gyroscopes are used to track the position and orientation of an object relative to a known starting point, orientation and velocity.

Impairment Definition
In accounting, impairment is a permanent reduction in the value of a company asset.
Periodic Evaluation for Impairment An accountant tests assets for potential impairment periodically.
Unlike impairment of an asset, impaired capital can naturally reverse when the company’s total capital increases back above the par value of its capital stock.
Certain assets, such as intangible goodwill, must be tested for impairment on an annual basis in order to ensure that the value of assets is not inflated on the balance sheet.
As part of the same entry, a $50,000 credit is also made to the building’s asset account, to reduce the asset’s balance, or to another balance sheet account called the “Provision for Impairment Losses.”
Impairment involves an unexpected and drastic drop in the fair value of an asset.
An accountant will write off the difference between the fair value and the carrying value if impairment is present, and the value of the asset decreases on the company’s balance sheet.
Definition Of Impairment By Medical Dictionary
Any abnormality of, partial or complete loss of, or loss of the function of, a body part, organ, or system; this may be due directly or secondarily to pathology or injury and may be either temporary or permanent.
Examples include muscle weakness, incontinence, pain, and loss of joint motion.
Functional aerobic impairment a ratio comparing the duration of a test performed by the patient with the duration of the test that would be expected for a healthy individual of the same age, sex, and activity level, expressed as a percentage.
The official WHO definition is: any loss or abnormality of psychological, physiologic, or anatomic structure or function.
Impairment Medtalk An objective handicap, partial disability, loss of function, anatomic or functional defect, which may be temporary or permanent-persisting after appropriate therapy, without reasonable prospect of improvement, ranging from mild to severe, the latter of which precludes any form of gainful employment.
See Disability, Handicap, Hereditary hearing impairment, Nonsyndromic hereditary hearing impairment, Specific language impairment, Syndromic hearing impairment.
The official World Health Organization definition reads any loss of psychological, physiologic, or anatomic structure or function.
Definition, Indicators Of Impairment Test, Practical Example
The impairment of a fixed asset can be described as an abrupt decrease in Fair Value.
All assets, either tangible or intangible, are prone to impairment.
Companies must assess the external environment and look for the indicators below to decide when to impair assets.
IAS 36 applies to all assets except those for which other standards address impairment.
Managers who write off or write down assets because of impairment might not have made good investment decisions or lacked the vision before making that kind of investment.
Many business failures are heralded by a fall in the impairment value of assets.
The detailed guidance on treatment for impairing assets is not there, like when to recognize impairment, how to measure impairment, and how to disclose impairment.
What Is An Impairment?
The term impairment is associated with an asset currently having a market value that is less than the asset’s book value.
A test is done to determine whether the asset’s book value should be reduced to the current market value and to report the amount of the write-down as a loss on its income statement.
The company experienced a dramatic decline in the demand for its products and in the value of its plant and equipment.
If the required test of impairment indicates that a loss must be recorded on its plant and equipment, its book value must be reduced and the resulting loss reported on its income statement.
The amount paid for the company resulted in Corporation X reporting a large amount for the intangible asset goodwill.
Since the acquisition, the acquired company’s value has declined to only a small fraction of the amount currently reported as goodwill.
A test must be done and it may require a reduction in the reported amount of goodwill and a resulting impairment loss reported on the company’s income statement.
Definition, Explanation, Indicators, How To Test The Impairment, Examples, 6 Tips For Impairment Test
The impairment test is the testing procedure that is performed by the companies on the assets that they have to find out if the assets are impaired make the carrying value of assets in the reporting date less than the recoverable value of assets.
The company performs the impairment test on the computers that it has as of 31 December 2020 with the carrying value amounting to USD500,000 to see if there is any impairment on the computers.
The impairment test is done to find out if the carrying amount of the asset exceeds the recoverable value.
The following indicators show the impairment of assets: The carrying amount of an asset is more than the market capitalization.
As a rule, the company is required to test for impairment of assets every year.
Focus on market capitalization: Market capitalization below net asset value is an indicator of the impairment test.
Compare the assets being tested for impairment with the cash flows coming from that asset: It is to be ascertained that the cash flows being tested are consistent with the assets being tested.
