Futures Contract Definition

A futures contract is a legal agreement to buy or sell a particular commodity asset, or security at a predetermined price at a specified time in the future.

The buyer of a futures contract is taking on the obligation to buy and receive the underlying asset when the futures contract expires.

Futures contracts detail the quantity of the underlying asset and are standardized to facilitate trading on a futures exchange.

You might hear somebody say they bought oil futures, which means the same thing as an oil futures contract.

A futures contract gets its name from the fact that the buyer and seller of the contract are agreeing to a price today for some asset or security that is to be delivered in the future.

These two types of derivatives contract function in much the same way, but the main difference is that futures are exchange-traded and have standardized contract specifications.

Qualified traders in the U.S. will often have the ability to trade futures on different exchanges such as the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, ICE Futures U.S., and the CBOE Futures Exchange.

What Is A Futures Contract? Definition & How Futures Work

One important feature of a future contract is that both buyers and sellers can execute the contract regardless of the current market price of the underlying asset when the contract expires.

On the other side of the trade, the futures contract seller agrees to deliver the underlying security at the agreed-upon price, when the contract expires.

That’s because the airline buying the futures contract must buy the fuel at the agreed-upon price on the dates specified in the contract.

Futures contracts oblige the buyer or seller to complete the deal at the contract’s expiration, while options contracts give traders the right but not always the obligation to execute the contract when it expires.

In a call option on a future, the buyer has the right to buy a futures contract at a specific price at a specific future date.

Benefits of Futures Contracts Futures contracts act as a hedge against the risks related to price volatility.

Downsides of Futures Contracts Futures contracts can be a high risk investment.

Futures Contract: What Is It?

A futures contract is essentially a promise to buy or sell an asset in the future, and traders can buy and sell these promises.

The futures contract defines the price these assets will trade for and the time at which the trade will take place.

A futures contract is an agreement to either buy or sell an asset on a publicly-traded exchange.

The underlying asset of a futures contract is commonly either a commodity, stock, bond, or currency.

How Futures Contracts Affect the Economy Futures help companies lock in prices, and this benefits both the buyers and sellers.

Futures Contracts vs. Forward Contracts Futures Contracts Forward Contracts Traded on an exchange Traded over-the-counter Standardized Private and customizable Relatively more safe than forwards Relatively more risky than futures Futures contracts are similar to forward contracts, but there are some key differences that are important to understand.

The simplest way to think of the differences is that the forward contract is a more personalized form of a futures contract.

Learn About Futures And Key Market Traders

The investor would then exercise his right to buy the asset at the lower price obtained through buying the futures contract, and then resell the asset at the higher current Primary Market.

The investor would sell the asset at the higher market price secured through the futures contract and then buy it back at the lower price.

The farmer sells his corn for the going market price of $2.50 a bushel and closes out his futures contracts trade by buying the contracts back at the lower price of $2.50.

Because he had sold short at a price of $3, he makes up the 50-cent market price drop through a 50-cent per bushel profit on his futures trade.

In this case, the corn canner, who buys December corn futures in July, will lose 50 cents per bushel on his futures trade, but will benefit from being able to buy corn at just $2.50 a bushel in December in the open market.

Futures contracts are considered an alternative investment, as they typically do not have any positive correlation with stock market prices.

Futures trading offers advantages such as low trading costs, but carries greater risk associated with higher market volatility.

Futures Contract

Financial futures were introduced in 1972, and in recent decades, currency futures, interest rate futures, stock market index futures, and cryptocurrency perpetual futures have played an increasingly large role in the overall futures markets.

Customer margin Within the futures industry, financial guarantees required of both buyers and sellers of futures contracts and sellers of options contracts to ensure fulfillment of contract obligations.

On this day the back month futures contract becomes the front-month futures contract.

Markets are said to be normal when futures prices are above the current spot price and far-dated futures are priced above near-dated futures.

Markets are said to be inverted when futures prices are below the current spot price and far-dated futures are priced below near-dated futures.

We describe a futures contract with delivery of item J at the time T:. There exists in the market a quoted price F(t,T), which is known as the futures price at time t for delivery of J at time T. The price of entering a futures contract is equal to zero.

Example: Consider a futures contract with a $100 price: Let’s say that on day 50, a futures contract with a $100 delivery price costs $88. On day 51, that futures contract costs $90. This means that the “Mark-to-market” calculation would require the holder of one side of the futures to pay $2 on day 51 to track the changes of the forward price (“Post $2 of margin”).

What Is Futures Contract? Definition Of Futures Contract, Futures Contract Meaning

Definition: A Guts Options Strategy consists of simultaneously buying or selling of Call and Put options that are in-the-money* for the same security and same expiry date.

The strike prices of both the options are chosen just next to the at-the-money Calls and Puts, i.e. higher strike price than ATM Put for Put Option and lower strike price than ATM Call for Call option.

Gut options are further divided into two categories: a) Long Guts Option/Spread: It involves going long on an in-the-money Call option at a lower strike price and a Put option at a higher strike price at the same time for the same security and expiry date.

The total cost at the start of trade would be = Rs 81.75 Case 1: Security price moves upwards to Rs 1,200 on expiry day, so the Rs 1080 Put option expires worthless and Rs 1,040 Call option gets executed.

So call option at Rs 1,040 expires worthless and Put option at Rs 1,080 gets executed.

Case 1: If the security price moves upwards to Rs 380 on the expiry day, the Put option at Rs 360 expires worthless and the Call option at Rs 340 gets executed.

The Iron Butterfly Option strategy, also called Ironfly, is a combination of four different kinds of option contracts, which together make one bull Call spread and bear Put spread. Together these spreads make a range to earn some profit with limited loss.

Post Idea #2: Scanning helium ion microscope

Scanning Helium Ion Microscope

A scanning helium ion microscope is an imaging technology based on a scanning helium ion beam.

Similar to other focused ion beam techniques, it allows to combine milling and cutting of samples with their observation at sub-nanometer resolution.

In terms of imaging, SHIM has several advantages over the traditional scanning electron microscope.

Owing to the very high source brightness, and the short De Broglie wavelength of the helium ions, which is inversely proportional to their momentum, it is possible to obtain qualitative data not achievable with conventional microscopes which use photons or electrons as the emitting source.

As the helium ion beam interacts with the sample, it does not suffer from a large excitation volume, and hence provides sharp images with a large depth of field on a wide range of materials.

The detectors provide information-rich images which offer topographic, material, crystallographic, and electrical properties of the sample.

In contrast to other ion beams, there is no discernible sample damage due to relatively light mass of the helium ion.

Scanning Transmission Helium Ion Microscopy On Carbon Nanomembranes

The detection principle is based on a secondary electron conversion holder with an exchangeable aperture strip allowing its acceptance angle to be tuned from 3 to 98 mrad. The contrast mechanism and performance were investigated using freestanding nanometer-thin carbon membranes.

An overview of the imaging as well as recently added analytical capabilities using secondary ion mass spectroscopy can be found in a recent review [].Beyond imaging, the HIM has been established as a key nanofabrication tool for milling , defect engineering [-], and resist-based lithography [12-], overcoming the resolution limitations of other FIB techniques [-].Both bulk samples as well as thin membranes have been structured using the HIM. On membranes, the sputter yield is significantly increased because sputtering occurs not only in backward but also in forward direction [16-]. To observe and control the milling process, the ion transmission signal is preferred over the SE signal because it is related to the membrane thickness.

Shows a freestanding membrane that was intentionally ruptured by a high-flux helium ion beam prior to imaging.

Both energies are below the energy threshold for atom displacement in carbon membranes and should not lead to knock-on damage on the membrane []. The use of an energy filter reduces the beam energy at the sample by 3 keV, leading to electron mean free paths of 86.1 nm for 77 keV and 70.5 nm for 57 keV. The results for both thin and thick CNMs are listed in.

The non-exposed membrane shows barely visible D and G bands on a strong photoluminescence background as it is reported for amorphous hydrogenated carbon films.

The field of view was set to 10 µm for the thin carbon membrane and to 15 µm for the thick membrane.

The membranes were assumed to consist of pure carbon with the density of graphite of 2.253 g/cm2.

Contamination manifests itself as a gradual buildup of carbonaceous material on the surface of the sample in the vicinity where the electron or ion probe excites the sample, which results in characteristic dark patterns.

Contamination changes the sample itself and the number, trajectory, and energy of the electrons or ions leaving the sample, and consequently it makes repeatable quantitative measurements and achieving the best spatial resolution difficult or impossible.

The cleaning processes followed by several minutes of electron bombardment leads to even better, possibly ultimate sample cleanliness.

Contamination Ruins the Sample and Resolution Ion-beam Nano Milling Contamination-free SEM At the beginning of the test No contamination Actual cleaning is observable After 10 minutes continuous imaging at twice as high magnification Meeting the NIST contamination specification means the instrument is clean.

On clean samples a few minutes of electron bombardment results in ultimate secondary electron yield and in the highest attainable spatial resolution.

If the instrument -with the clean sample- fails the test again, it needs to get cleaned with a low-energy plasma cleaning process.

Much better pattern can be obtained after cleaning the HIM with oxygen by Evactron Model 45 20 W plasma cleaner Using piranha solution, low-power oxygen plasma, hydrogen plasma, helium plasma and laser beam cleaning, contamination can be essentially eliminated.

High Resolution Helium Ion Scanning Microscopy Of The Rat Kidney

Helium ion scanning microscopy is a novel imaging technology with the potential to provide sub-nanometer resolution images of uncoated biological tissues.

Here, we took advantage of helium ion microscopy to explore the epithelium of the rat kidney with unsurpassed image quality and detail.

Helium ion microscopy is an imaging technology that uses a scanning beam of He+ ions to produce high quality images with the potential for sub-nanometer resolution.

The classic choices for imaging biological samples have been: low voltage field emission scanning electron microscopy, that can produce topographic images of samples with nanometer scale resolution, transmission electron microscopy providing potential sub-nanometer resolution of thin tissue cross-sections, and atomic force microscopy with sub-nanometer topographic resolution in all three dimensions, but with a limited depth of field.

Helium ion microscopy was carried out on an Orion helium ion microscope at 35 keV beam energy, with a probe current ranging from 0.1 to 1.5 pA. No conductive coatings were applied to the samples prior to imaging, in order to preserve the sample surface information.

The scanning of the helium ion beam and the formation of the image are synchronized so that for any given coordinate there is a corresponding signal or grey value in the resulting image.

In order to establish that the quality of these high magnification images is due to the HIM technology and not to the tissue processing method we employed, we also imaged these tissues by conventional scanning electron microscopy.

Helium Ion Microscopy For The Imaging Of Biological Samples At Sub-Nanometer Resolution

Three of the fundamental challenges in the SEM imaging of soft materials are that of limited imaging resolution at high magnification, charging caused by the insulating properties of most biological samples and the loss of subtle surface features by heavy metal coating.

These challenges have recently been overcome with the development of the Helium Ion Microscope, which boasts advances in charge reduction, minimized sample damage, high surface contrast without the need for metal coating, increased depth of field and 5 angstrom imaging resolution.

One of the most formidable developments in imaging biological surfaces in their most native form without any chemical fixation is Cryo-SEM15, which freezes or cryo-immobilizes the sample and transfers it to a chilled stage prior to imaging.

To date, helium ion microscopy has been primarily been used in high-contrast imaging of inorganic materials; however23,24, there have been some limited instances where it has been used in imaging of biological samples.

As a model plant, Arabidopsis was chosen as a stable and well-studied organism to compare the effects of imaging at ever increasing magnification ranges between the FE-SEM and HIM. Since the samples were critical point dried and uncoated, they were prone to charging and thus low voltage imaging in the FE-SEM was required.

The critical point dried samples show especially clean surfaces, whereas the surfaces of the minerals in plunge-frozen and freeze-dried samples appear to have a much smoother envelope in the case of the uncoated samples.

We would also like to thank the Ion Microscopy Innovation Center at Carl Zeiss Microscopy for providing access to an Orion PLUS helium ion microscope, Carl Procko from the Chory lab at the Salk Institute for providing wild-type Arabidopsis Thaliana for HIM imaging experiments and Kat Kearny for critical reading of the manuscript and for helpful suggestions regarding organization and formatting.

The Best Leica Cameras In 2022

The best Leica cameras may be expensive, but they also happen to be some of the most finely engineered cameras ever made.

In this article we’re dealing with digital Leica cameras – if you’re craving more a vintage, analogue experience then our guide to the best film cameras includes some Leica models.

There are three main categories of Leica digital cameras: Leica mirrorless cameras, Leica M rangefinders, and Leica compact cameras.

The Leica mirrorless range includes professional cameras like the Leica SL2 and the relatively affordable Leica CL. These cameras use the L-mount, in an alliance with Sigma and Panasonic, and provide large, high-resolution sensors for top-quality image-making.

Our list of the best Leica cameras includes all the best models from the venerable manufacturer, at the best prices, so let’s get started!

Plenty of Leica cameras form an unusual hybrid where their insides are essentially the same as cameras from other manufacturers, while their outers are all Leica.

Most Leica cameras take interchangeable lenses, but the Leica Q2 is the exception, with a fixed 28mm f/1.7 lens.

5 Best Leica Cameras

When comparing Leica cameras to each other and to other brands, it’s helpful to understand the various parts and options of Leica digital cameras.

Leica cameras can shoot at speeds between 5 and 20 frames per second in burst mode.

Leica offers a few different models that it calls compact cameras, including the C-LUX, D-LUX, and V-LUX. These cameras have a relatively modest 1-inch or a Micro 4/3 image sensor, so they are among the lowest-priced cameras Leica offers.

Leica rangefinder cameras can use interchangeable lenses, much like a DSLR, but in a smaller camera body.

Q. Do companies other than Leica make rangefinder cameras?A. During the 1950s, rangefinder film cameras were popular, and many camera makers offered them.

Q. Why do Leica cameras cost more than other camera models?A. Leica cameras typically consist of high-quality materials in the camera body, often featuring quite a bit of metal instead of plastic.

Q. Can I use any lenses on Leica cameras?A. No. Leica cameras only work with Leica lenses.

Like A Leica? Rangefinder Camera Gets An Upgrade With The New M11

The M11 is Leica’s most flexible to date, combining the experience of rangefinder photography with updated camera technology.

It features a triple resolution, full-frame sensor; dual memory; extended battery life; a streamlined menu system; and a lighter body.

Its 60 megapixels allow for huge files, and at lower resolutions, the M11 offers improved dynamic range.

The M11 is made for iPhone and connects to your phone and iPad for downloading and charging.

Plus, you get the craftsmanship, design, technology, precision lenses and prestige of a Leica.

The camera sells for $8,995; special order through Houston Camera Exchange, houstoncameraexchange.com, or at Leica-camera.com.

How Leica’S M Camera Became A Grail Gadget For James Bond, Steve Jobs And The Queen

“This is beyond the doubt, the most precise thing, and one of the most beautiful we’ve ever made. Glass on the front and back, and steel around the sides. It’s like a beautiful old Leica camera.”

Small wonder Jobs was comparing what he hoped would be a timeless product to something that had already established itself as one: the Leica M camera.

From its headquarters in the small German city of Wetzlar, Leica has been designing and building the M series for almost 70 years.

Henri Cartier-Bresson, the master of candid photography, shot every single one of his images on a Leica M3, the Queen was pictured with an M3 in 1958 and even James Bond uses one in the novel Goldfinger.

What’s the appeal? Of course, Leica Ms deliver superb photographs in the hands of a skilled user, but there’s far more to their enduring lustre than that.

Each camera is handmade in Germany rather than assembled en masse in Asia, which means they carry an air of exclusivity that’s rarely seen in tech.

The most recent Leica M11 sold out on the day it was launched, while resale values are sky-high for older models too; you’ll still pay upwards of £1,000 for 1954’s Leica M3 from and over £3,500 for a second-hand, 2017-released M10. Just as the likes of Rolex, Porsche and Apple have become bywords for both luxury and quality, there are cameras and then there is the Leica M. This is the story of how a legend has endured for generations.

Leica Camera AG is 45% owned by The Blackstone Group which licenses the Leica brand name from the Danaher Corporation-owned Leica Microsystems GmbH. From the year 1907 to the 1950s, the buildings that formed Leica factory were built on Ernst Leitz Street in Wetzlar, and remained until 1986, when the factory was moved to the city of Solms.

The reason given was that “New camera developments have significantly affected the sales of Leica R cameras and lenses resulting in a dramatic decrease in the number sold. Sadly there is no longer an economic basis on which to keep the Leica R-System in the Leica production programme.”

In 1998, the Leica group was divided into two independent units: Leica Microsystems and Leica Geosystems.

The original producer of the cameras, Ernst Leitz GmbH, is now three independent companies: Leica Camera AG, Leica Geosystems AG, and Leica Microsystems GmbH, which manufacture cameras, geosurvey equipment, and microscopes, respectively.

Post Idea #4: Remotely operated underwater vehicle

Ocean Exploration Facts: NOAA Office Of Ocean Exploration And Research

“ROV” stands for remotely operated vehicle; ROVs are unoccupied, highly maneuverable underwater machines that can be used to explore ocean depths while being operated by someone at the water surface.

Remotely operated vehicles, or ROVs, allow us to explore the ocean without actually being in the ocean.

A group of cables, or tether, connects the ROV to the ship, sending electrical signals back and forth between the operator and the vehicle.

Most ROVs are equipped with at least a still camera, video camera, and lights, meaning that they can transit images and video back to the ship.

Larger ROVs are very heavy and need other equipment such as a winch to put them over the side of a ship and into the water.

While using ROVs eliminates the “Human presence” in the water, in most cases, ROV operations are simpler and safer to conduct than any type of occupied-submersible or diving operation because operators can stay safe on ship decks.

ROVs allow us to investigate areas that are too deep for humans to safely dive themselves, and ROVs can stay underwater much longer than a human diver, expanding the time available for exploration.

What Is Remotely Operated Underwater Vehicle?

A remotely operated underwater vehicle also referred to as an ROV, is an underwater vehicle that is unmanned and usually tethered to the operator.

A network of cables is utilized to establish a connection between the operator and the remotely operated vehicle, which would enable the proper movement of the ROV. ROVs are incredibly complex and serve a wide variety of purposes.

An ROV is essentially a robot that can operate underwater.

There are several subsystems that together make up the incredibly complex ROV. With incessant developments in the arena of technology, the latest technical concepts are being imparted to remotely operated vehicle in order to amplify its original capacities to a greater extent.

On the other hand, the typical Mini underwater ROVs have a standard weight of around 15kg and it takes just one person to easily operate it from a boat, and carry out an underwater expedition.

While most propulsion systems on these ROVs function below 500 HP, there are underwater vehicles that may function at powers of nearly 600 HP or more.

As an added utilization, research can initially submerge the ROV into the water to explore the detailing of the particular underwater site and then decide if it is safe enough to send a submersible.

Remotely Operated Underwater Vehicle Systems

Remotely operated underwater vehicle systems can be equipped with sonar and video technologies operating simultaneously for side-by-side acoustic and visual image display.

These systems are used by responders in place of dive teams or with dive teams to conduct inspections of submerged structures or objects.

Underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle

The use of sensors in different cutting edge application is highly remarkable with the introduction of wireless sensor networks, IoTs, Internet of vehicle, smart computing devices, smart grid, and airborne sensor networks.

Such sensors are feasible to be deployed underwater to create underwater WSNs. Deployment of the low-cost ultrasound sensor in an underwater environment is a challenge in various hazardous environments.

There are lots of practical uses of such sensors and of course, the senor networks, such as undersea ecosystem monitoring, ocean current prediction, and underwater disaster, these kinds of networks are typically useful for offshore engineering applications like oil drilling from the sea bed.

An autonomous underwater vehicle, on the other hand, navigates by considering the set of commands and instruction generated based on the sensor reading.

The fundamental thermal sensor that is popularly used is the temperature sensor LM35 and temperature-humidity sensor modules.

Following further development between the ETI MMV and the STEMM-CCS projects, the suite of LOC sensors had been increased and the pH, and nutrient sensors were augmented with a newly developed TA sensor, besides the commercially available ISFET pH sensor.

Navigation sensors such as depth gauges, gyroscopes, magnetometers and sonar have been used to navigate a remotely operated underwater vehicle for nuclear reactor pressure vessel inspection , and Ékes et al.

Remotely Operated Underwater Vehicle

ROVs are unoccupied, usually highly maneuverable, and operated by a crew either aboard a vessel/floating platform or on proximate land.

The TMS is either a garage-like device which contains the ROV during lowering through the splash zone or, on larger work-class ROVs, a separate assembly which sits on top of the ROV. The purpose of the TMS is to lengthen and shorten the tether so the effect of cable drag where there are underwater currents is minimized.

The U.S. Navy funded most of the early ROV technology development in the 1960s into what was then named a “Cable-Controlled Underwater Recovery Vehicle”.

In the professional diving and marine contracting industry, the usual term is ROV, for remotely operated vehicle.

Larger ROVs are commonly deployed and operated from vessels, so the ROV may have landing skids for retrieval to the deck.

Survey ROVs, although smaller than workclass, often have comparable performance with regard to the ability to hold position in currents, and often carry similar tools and equipment – lighting, cameras, sonar, USBL beacon, and strobe flasher depending on the payload capability of the vehicle and the needs of the user.

The International Marine Contractors Association published guidelines for the offshore operation of ROVs in combined operations with divers in the document Remotely Operated Vehicle Intervention During Diving Operations, intended for use by both contractors and clients.

Optical instruments, such as binoculars, stereoscopic telescopes, range finders, and periscopes, are used for observation.

Historically, observation has developed as part of the labor process, which involves the establishment of a correspondence between the product of labor and its planned ideal image.

As science develops, observation becomes more complex and dependent on mechanical aids.

At the same time, observation is usually also part of the experimental procedure.

Observation in the social sciences presents a special problem, since the results of such observation depend to a great extent on the observer’s personality, purpose, and attitude toward his object.

In psychology, observation itself becomes the object of study.

All methods of observation result in graphic determination of a point on a chart or analytical computation of its coordinates.

Measurement reduces an observation to a number that can be recorded, and two observations which result in the same number are equal within the resolution of the process.

One problem encountered throughout scientific fields is that the observation may affect the process being observed, resulting in a different outcome than if the process was unobserved.

Considered as a physical process itself, all forms of observation involve amplification and are thus thermodynamically irreversible processes, increasing entropy.

In some specific fields of science, the results of observation differ depending on factors that are not important in everyday observation.

The interaction of the observation process appears to “Collapse” the wave function into a single state.

So any interaction between an isolated wave function and the external world that results in this wave function collapse is called an observation or measurement, whether or not it is part of a deliberate observation process.

Observation in philosophical terms is the process of filtering sensory information through the thought process.

Observation, as the name implies, is a way of collecting data through observing.

Observation data collection method may involve watching, listening, reading, touching, and recording behavior and characteristics of phenomena.

Observation as a data collection method can be structured or unstructured.

In overt observation research subjects are aware that they are being observed.

Covert observation is considered to be more effective because in this case sample group members are likely to behave naturally with positive implications on the authenticity of research findings.

Advantages of observation data collection method include direct access to research phenomena, high levels of flexibility in terms of application and generating a permanent record of phenomena to be referred to later.

At the same time, the behaviour of sample group members may change with negative implications on the level of research validity if they are notified about the presence of the observer.

Pet Insurance

Pet insurance pays, partly or in total, for veterinary treatment of the insured person’s ill or injured pet.

As veterinary medicine is increasingly employing expensive medical techniques and drugs, and owners have higher expectations for their pets’ health care and standard of living than previously, the market for pet insurance has increased.

According to the latest data available from the U.S. Department of Clinical Veterinary Science and the Pet Food Institute, only 0.7% of pets in the United States are covered by Pet Insurance.

In 1982, the first pet insurance policy was sold in the United States, and issued to television’s Lassie by Veterinary Pet Insurance.

Many pet owners believe pet insurance is a variation of human health insurance; however, pet insurance is actually a form of property insurance.

Pet insurance reimburses the owner after the pet has received care and the owner submits a claim to the insurance company.

Pet insurance companies are beginning to offer the pet owner more of an ability to customize their coverage by allowing them to choose their own level of deductible or co-insurance.

Surgical N95 Respirators are commonly used in healthcare settings and are a subset of N95 Filtering Facepiece Respirators, often referred to as N95s. General N95 Respirator Precautions People with chronic respiratory, cardiac, or other medical conditions that make breathing difficult should check with their health care provider before using an N95 respirator because the N95 respirator can make it more difficult for the wearer to breathe.

Surgical Mask

A surgical mask, also known by other names such as a medical face mask or procedure mask, is a personal protective equipment used by healthcare professionals that serves as a mechanical barrier that interferes with direct airflow in and out of respiratory orifices.

Although the material of which surgical masks are made will filter out some viruses and bacteria by trapping the aerosol suspended in breathed air, they only provide partial protection from airborne diseases because of the typically loose fit between the mask edges and the wearer’s face.

The use of surgical masks during the COVID-19 pandemic was a subject of debate, as mask shortage was a central issue.

Surgical masks also cannot provide complete protection from germs and other contaminants because of the often loose fit between the mask edges and the wearer’s face, especially when the mask is worn outright incorrectly.

Performance of surgical masks is evaluated based on such parameters as filtration, exposure, mask airflow resistance, liquid penetration resistance, air and water vapor permeability, water repellency.

For healthcare workers, safety guidelines recommend the wearing of a face-fit tested N95 or FFP3 respirator mask instead of a surgical mask in the vicinity of pandemic-flu patients, to reduce the exposure of the wearer to potentially infectious aerosols and airborne liquid droplets.

In the 2019-20 Hong Kong protests, some protestors wore surgical masks amongst other types of mask to avoid recognition, and the government tried to ban such use.

The more common 3-ply disposable face masks are often referred to as surgical masks.

Surgical N95 masks are specifically regulated by the FDA and approved through NIOSH. This combines a level of vetting across the two organizations.

The CDC defines a surgical N95 respirator as “a NIOSH-approved N95 respirator that has also been cleared by the Food and Drug Administration as a surgical mask.” A surgical N95 mask has fluid resistance and is designed to withstand a spray of fluid.

The Dasheng DTC3B N95 surgical mask is an affordable option that meets all the surgical mask requirements.

Can face masks help slow the spread of the virus that causes coronavirus disease 2019? Yes.

How do the different types of masks work? Medical masks.

The effectiveness of cloth and medical masks can be improved by ensuring that the masks are well fitted to the contours of your face to prevent leakage of air around the masks’ edges.

Proper use, storage and cleaning of masks also affects how well they protect you.

Don’t use face masks as a substitute for physical distancing.

The CDC doesn’t recommend using face shields instead of masks because it’s unclear how much protection shields provide.

While Dikshit may be the most high-profile person ensnared in the GreenSky episode, it’s likely that others had access to deal information and traded off it, according to people with knowledge of the situation.

Despite Dikshit being a senior advisor on financial transactions, his browser history on McKinsey computers indicates he had basic questions as he researched his trades, authorities alleged.

On Sept. 14, according to the complaint, Dikshit Googled “What happens to options when company is acquired.”

Genetically Modified Organisms

A genetically modified organism is an animal, plant, or microbe whose DNA has been altered using genetic engineering techniques.

For thousands of years, humans have used breeding methods to modify organisms.

What Are GMOs?

Genes are made up of DNA, which is a set of instructions for how cells grow and develop.

Rather than crossing two plants out in the field, they insert a gene or two into individual cells in a lab.

A scientist causes a gene to be inserted into the DNA in the nucleus of a single cell.

Despite how tiny a cell is, there is a massive amount of DNA all packaged into its one little nucleus.

To give some idea of just how much DNA is packed into that small space, if you were to take all the DNA of one single corn cell out of the nucleus and line it up end-to-end, it would be about six feet long! Into this enormous amount of DNA, a very small piece is inserted.

This one cell will start to divide and the resulting cells begin to take on specialized functions, until they become a whole plant.

Because this new plant was ultimately derived from a single cell with the inserted gene, all of the cells in the regenerated plant contain that new gene.

An Overview And Its Applications

“Genetically modified organisms are those that have their DNA altered in some way through genetic engineering.”

Genetically modified organisms are those in which DNA from the desired organism is inserted in the laboratory.

Genetically modified crops are the crops whose genes are modified using genetic engineering techniques.

Insulin is the first genetically modified medicine created by injecting a gene from the intestine of the pig into a bacterium.

Pigs, chicken, cows, fish, mosquitoes are some of the genetically modified animals produced by scientists.

Genetically modified organisms offer many potential benefits to the environment.

Genetically Modified Organisms

The presence of GMOs or derived products in food is regulated and foods, feeds and seeds are routinely tested for the presence of GMOs to reveal non-compliance with authorization and labeling regulations.

Directive 90/219/EEC concerning the contained use of genetically modified microorganisms and Directive 90/220/EEC regulating the deliberate release into the environment as well as placing on the market of GMOs.To deal with this emergence of transgenic varieties on the European market and to ensure the consumer’s rights to choose between GM and non-GM Foods, Regulation 258/97 on novel foods and novel food ingredients sets out rules for authorization and labelling of novel foods including food products containing, consisting of or produced from GMOs.

The European Food Safety Authority, located in Parma, established by Regulation No 178/2002, evaluates the safety of genetically modified organisms before they can be authorized for use as food or feed and/or for cultivation in the EU. Moreover, EFSA shall provide scientific advice and technical support for the community’s legislation and policies in all fields that have a direct or indirect impact on food and feed safety and communicate on risks (European Food Safety Authority, 2018.).The EFSA strategy of risk assessment therefore takes into account the characteristics of the recipient organism, the inserted genetic material, the final organism produced, the receiving environment and the interaction between the GMO and the environment.

The second Regulation in force since in April 2004, Regulation 1830/2003, concerns the traceability and labelling of genetically modified organisms and the traceability of food and feed products produced from GMOs.

Traceability, the ability to track GMOs and GMO products at all stages of the production and distribution chain, is an essential element in providing consumers and the food industry with information and precautions concerning foods derived from GMOs and GMO products.

Directive 2001/18/EC together with Regulation No 1829/2003 on genetically modified food and feed are considered as the main legal frame in the EU. GMOs are subject to a regulatory review involving an authorization procedure based on a scientific assessment of risks to human health and the environment.

Proteomics can be used for detecting differential expression of proteins between GMO and non-GMO organisms via immunoassays, such as ELISA technologies involving fluorescent dyes, which is the classic assay reported by many researchers.

Science Of GMOs

Genes are made up of DNA, which is a set of instructions for how cells grow and develop.

Definition, Examples, & Facts

In conventional livestock production, crop farming, and even pet breeding, it has long been the practice to breed select individuals of a species in order to produce offspring that have desirable traits.

Genetically modified foods were first approved for human consumption in the United States in 1994, and by 2014-15 about 90 percent of the corn, cotton, and soybeans planted in the United States were GM. By the end of 2014, GM crops covered nearly 1.8 million square kilometres of land in more than two dozen countries worldwide.

Engineered crops can dramatically increase per area crop yields and, in some cases, reduce the use of chemical insecticides.

Field studies conducted in India in which Bt cotton was compared with non-Bt cotton demonstrated a 30-80 percent increase in yield from the GM crop.

In China, where farmers first gained access to Bt cotton in 1997, the GM crop was initially successful.

Herbicide-resistant crops have been available since the mid-1980s; these crops enable effective chemical control of weeds, since only the HRC plants can survive in fields treated with the corresponding herbicide.

Such crops have been especially valuable for no-till farming, which helps prevent soil erosion.

Grinding Machine: Types, Parts, Working & Operations

Hello viewers, so today we are going to study the Definition, Working, Types, and Operations of the grinding machine.

A grinding machine or grinder is an industrial power tool that uses an abrasive wheel for cutting or removing the material.

The working principle of a grinding machine is quite easier to understand.

In a grinding machine, there is an electric motor which supplies the motion power to the grinding wheel with the help of a belt and pulley.

Although there are two methods of doing a grinding operation, one is wet grinding and the second one is dry grinding.

In wet grinding, during the grinding operation, we sprayed coolant generally water or any coolant to cool the surface so that the longevity of the grinding wheel increases and also we get a fine surface finish.

Dry grinding is not preferable, in this process grinding wheel wear is more plus we get an uneven surface finish.

GRINDING WHEELS STANDARD TYPES OF GRINDING WHEELS Dish Grinding wheels come in many different sizes, shapes, and abrasives.

GRINDING WHEEL ABRASIVE ABRASIVE WHEEL STRUCTURE MARKINGS Bond strength of a grinding wheel is not wholly dependent upon the grade of hardness but depends equally on the structure of the wheel, that is, the spacing of the grain or its density.

SELECTION OF GRINDING WHEELS Conditions under which grinding wheels are used vary considerably, and a wheel that is satisfactory on one machine may be too hard or soft for the same operation on another machine.

WHEEL DRESSERS Grinding wheels wear unevenly under most general grinding operations due to uneven pressure applied to the face of the wheel when it cuts.

5-11 TC 9-524 Abrasive Wheel Dresser The abrasive wheel dresser is a bonded silicon carbide wheel that is fastened to the machine table at a slight angle to the grinding wheel and driven by contact with the wheel.

The wire wheel fastens to the wheel spindle of the grinding machine in the same manner as a grinding wheel.

To obtain the primary clearance angle when grinding with a straight wheel, lower the indexing finger or raise the grinding wheel a distance equivalent to 0.0088 times the clearance angle times the diameter of the grinding wheel.

What Is Grinding Machine?- Definition, And Types

A grinding machine, often shortened to grinder, is one of the power tools or machine tools used for grinding, it is a type of machining using an abrasive wheel as the cutting tool.

Grinding is used to finish workpieces that must show high surface quality and high accuracy of shape and dimension.

The grinding machine consists of a bed with a fixture to guide and hold the workpiece, and a power-driven grinding wheel spinning at the required speed.

The grinding head can travel across a fixed workpiece, or the workpiece can be moved while the grinding head stays in a fixed position.

Grinding machines remove material from the workpiece by abrasion, which can generate substantial amounts of heat.

To cool the workpiece so that it does not overheat and go outside its tolerance, grinding machines incorporate a coolant.

In high-precision grinding machines, the final grinding stages are usually set up so that they remove about 200 nm per pass – this generates so little heat that even with no coolant, the temperature rise is negligible.

Grinding Machine: Definition, Parts, Working Principle, Operation, Advantages, Application

The Grinding Machine is another most important machine in the manufacturing Industry.

Today we will study the Definition, Parts, Working Principle, Operation, Advantages, Application of the Grinding machine in detail.

A grinding machine is a production machine tool used in the manufacturing industry in which the grinding wheel is attached in the tool post and the workpiece is fixed to the work table and when the operation starts it removes the unwanted material to get the desired surface finish, correct size, and accurate shape of the workpiece.

In brief, we can say the working of the Grinding Machine is the Workpiece is fed against the rotating abrasive wheel.

Surface grinding involves grinding flat surfaces and is one of the most common grinding operations.

The Grinding Machine is used in various industries for grinding.

ExpressVPN Review

ExpressVPN is an excellent VPN service, boasting a massive global footprint and excellent privacy practices to protect your information.

ExpressVPN does provide split tunneling, which lets you designate what traffic should travel through the VPN’s encrypted connection and what should travel outside it.

Among our top-rated VPNs, ExpressVPN offers the best balance of hardware and virtual servers in the most countries.

In addition to having many server locations, ExpressVPN also excels in geographic diversity, with several servers in Africa and excellent coverage across South America-two continents often underserved or completely ignored by other VPN companies.

In 2021, ExpressVPN announced that it had been acquired by Kape Technologies, which also owns CyberGhost VPN and Private Internet Access VPN, among other privacy and security companies.

It’s not as friendly as Editors’ Choice winner TunnelBear, but ExpressVPN is now much more approachable than the black-and-green hacker aesthetic found in too many VPNs. The app is built around a large on/off button, which makes it very easy to get online and to tell whether you’re still connected to the VPN. When disconnected, the top third resembles a purple-orange sunset that blossoms into bold green when connected.

Hands On With ExpressVPN for macOS. ExpressVPN does not have a MacOS VPN app in the App Store, so we downloaded it from the vendor’s website.

Download ExpressVPN 10.14.0 For Windows

Express VPN is one of the newest entries to a long list of VPN services available online.

Just like >IPVanish VPN and Windscribe VPN, ExpressVPN supports a wide range of servers and routers in different locations across continents.

Express VPN also lets you download torrents in a P2P framework, allowing you to download almost anything you want.

Compared to AVG Secure VPN, Express VPN offers stable connections, ensuring faster uploading and downloading.

Over the years, VPN services have been getting immensely popular, and Express VPN has become a leading choice for good reason.

How secure is Express VPN? Among popular VPN services, Express VPN has some of the strongest security protocols.

If you consider the leading VPN services in the world, Express VPN turns out to be an excellent choice.

ExpressVPN is a VPN service offered by the British Virgin Islands-registered company Express Technologies Ltd. The software is marketed as a privacy and security tool that encrypts users’ web traffic and masks their IP addresses.

The parent company does business as ExpressVPN. On January 25, 2016, ExpressVPN announced that it would soon roll out an upgraded CA certificate.

In July 2017, ExpressVPN announced in an open letter that Apple had removed all VPN apps from its App Store in China, a revelation that was later picked up by The New York Times and other outlets.

Turkish authorities were unable to find any logs to aid their investigation, which the company said verified its claim that it did not store user activity or connection logs, adding; “While it’s unfortunate that security tools like VPNs can be abused for illicit purposes, they are critical for our safety and the preservation of our right to privacy online. ExpressVPN is fundamentally opposed to any efforts to install ‘backdoors’ or attempts by governments to otherwise undermine such technologies.”

On September 13, 2021, it was reported that ExpressVPN had been acquired by Kape Technologies, an LSE-listed digital privacy and security company which operates three other VPN services: Private Internet Access, CyberGhost and ZenMate; antivirus software maker Intego; and other cybersecurity tools.

In April 2019, ExpressVPN announced that all their VPN servers ran solely on volatile memory, not on hard drives.

In 2018, Cyber security website Comparitech tested ExpressVPNs leak testing tools with 11 popular VPN services and found leaks across every VPN provider, with the exception of ExpressVPN. However, they clarified, “To be fair, ExpressVPN built the test tools and applied them to its own VPN app prior to publication of this article, so it has already patched leaks that it initially detected.”

Private Internet Access Review

Plus, PIA works in countries that restrict access to the internet, like China.

This feature protects you from possible data leaks by shutting down your internet access if you’re disconnected from the VPN. I like that PIA has a built-in kill switch on its iOS app.

In my tests, websites took up to 20 seconds to load and my connection speeds were reduced by 75% when compared to my internet speed without a VPN. PIA has good Tor support, but I slightly prefer AstrillVPN and ProtonVPN’s Tor over VPN feature – both of these VPNs allow you to browse the Tor network with Opera, Chrome, and Firefox rather than the Tor browser.

PIA basically masks your VPN connection and makes it appear like you’re using the internet without a VPN, which is what allows you to overcome geo-blocks and VPN blocks.

Overall, PIA’s Shadowsocks proxy obfuscation feature is good for bypassing internet firewalls and masking your VPN connection from your ISP. Visit Private Internet Access.

Thanks to PIA’s great internet connection speeds, I was able to stream content on Netflix in HD and without any interruptions.

PIA doesn’t have a kill switch feature for Android, but this is because the Android operating system has a much better feature – the ability to block an internet connection without a VPN. This provides system-level protection, and PIA has chosen to not even give you the option to connect on the app level.

3.Back-curved blades: Highest efficiency of the group; more stable characteristic of volume against pressure; capable of developing higher pressures; non-overloading, i.e. the power does not rise to a peak as the flow tends to zero or free flow.4.Many developments of the centrifugal fan exist, the most commonly employed being the double-width double-inlet fan moving twice the volume for a given wheel diameter.

Axial fans have a cylindrical casing and the fan blades are mounted on an extension of the shaft on the centre line.

Mixed-flow fans have the appearance of an axial fan but has an impellor that has similar characteristics to those of a backward curved centrifugal fan.

All the control devices, as stated for axial fans, are applicable for radial fans except the fan blade pitch control; this is a unique control device associated only with axial fans.

All control devices for axial fans are applicable for radial fans also, except the fan blade pitch control.

The centrifugal fan is more complicated aeroacoustically than the axial flow fan, and the acoustic resonances in the scroll casing influence the sound spectrum.

Vane axial fans with downstream guide vanes and mixed flow fans are invariably provided with long casings.

Industrial Fans And Blowers

The Howden American Fan Company range of Centrifugal Fans consists of fans for general air movement, emergency smoke extraction, and in the United Kingdom, ATEX explosive atmospheres.

One Piece Outlet Flanges with mounting holes and continuously welded are standard.

They are designed with Eccentric or Spring Lock Bearings for Positive Bearing to Shaft Locking.

Centrifugal Fan

Centrifugal fans often contain a ducted housing to direct outgoing air in a specific direction or across a heat sink; such a fan is also called a blower, blower fan, or squirrel-cage fan.

Centrifugal fans are, like axial fans, constant-volume devices, meaning that, at a constant fan speed, a centrifugal fan moves a relatively constant volume of air rather than a constant mass.

Centrifugal fans are not positive-displacement devices and centrifugal fans have certain advantages and disadvantages when contrasted with positive-displacement blowers: centrifugal fans are more efficient, whereas positive-displacement blowers may have a lower capital cost, and are capable of achieving much higher compression ratios.

The gas enters from the side of the fan wheel, turns 90 degrees and accelerates due to centrifugal force as it flows over the fan blades and exits the fan housing.

Forward-curved fans are typically used in applications where the static pressure is too high for a vane axial fan or the smaller size of a centrifugal fan is required, but the noise characteristics of a backwards curved fan are disruptive for the space.

Ratings found in centrifugal fan performance tables and curves are based on standard air SCFM. Fan manufacturers define standard air as clean, dry air with a density of 0.075 pounds mass per cubic foot, with the barometric pressure at sea level of 29.92 inches of mercury and a temperature of 70 °F. Selecting a centrifugal fan to operate at conditions other than standard air requires adjustment to both static pressure and power.

The centrifugal fan performance tables provide the fan RPM and power requirements for the given CFM and static pressure at standard air density.

NYB offers an extensive line of centrifugal fans and air blowers designed to accommodate airstreams ranging from clean air to bulk material handling applications.

Our high pressure and industrial Centrifugal fans have the ability to handle a variety of air flows relative to static pressure and temperatures.

Centrifugal fans, also known as centrifugal air blowers, are one of the most widely used fans because it’s more cost effective than axial fans and these fans are simpler in terms of construction.

Industrial clean air centrifugal fans have the ability to handle a variety of air flows relative to static pressure, with some tolerance for dust and moisture.

New York Blower Company Material Handling Centrifugal Fans are designed to cover a wide range of performance and application requirements.

NYB Material Handling Fans are used in handling systems to generate sufficient air velocity to pick up the material at its point of origin and convey it to a collection point.

Please review the NYB line of Material Handling Centrifugal Fans to find the best fit for your material handling application.

Understanding Centrifugal Fans

For simplicity, stable flow is defined as the condition under which enough air flows through the fan wheel to fill the spaces between the blades.

Because of slight manufacturing variations, one blade or section of blades does not produce the same pressure as the others and stalls.

The original blade stall disrupts flow into the blade next to it, and the stall travels from blade to blade.

Occasionally, the blade that originally stalled recovers and the stall zone travels around the wheel.

Because of the small number of blades, each creates its own stall one with little effect on adjacent blades.

Even with each blade in stall, overall fan output remains stable.

The unstable operating region on the fan curve extends farther out on the curve than it does on a radial blade design.

Centrifugal Blowers And Fans

Centrifugal Fans and Blowers typically have one of eight types of wheels that draw the air into the inlet of the blower housing, through the wheel, and discharges it at 90 degrees out through the discharge of the housing.

The two most common types of Centrifugal Blowers are Pressure Blowers and Volume Blowers.

Pressure Blowers are designed to draw or push air at high pressures, rated in static pressure water gauge.

Volume Blowers are designed to draw or push larger volumes of air, rated in cubic feet of air per minute,at lower static pressures than Pressure Blowers.

Centrifugal Blowers are typically made of fabricated steel, stainless steel or cast aluminum.

Sumeti Vij Vs. M/S. Paramount Tech Fab Industries

The appellant is aggrieved by the judgment dated 30th April, 2019 passed by the High Court of Himachal Pradesh holding the appellant guilty of offence under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 after reversal of the finding of acquittal returned by the learned trial Judge by its judgment dated 28th September, 2012.

On the basis of order placed by the appellant, nonwoven fabric was sold to the appellant vide invoice No.120 dated 01st October, 2010 and invoice No.135 dated 16th October, 2010 amounting to Rs.5,07,062/and Rs.5,10,000/which was delivered through public carrier truck bearing Nos.

On perusal of the evidence on record, the learned trial Judge returned a finding that the complainant failed to establish that the material/goods were delivered to the appellant in lieu of which, the cheques were issued, and in the absence of burden being discharged by the complainant, the onus to disprove or rebut the presumption could not be shifted to the appellant as referred under Section 139 of the Act.

Learned counsel for the appellant submitted that the complainant was not able to prove that the material/goods were ever sent or received by the appellant and in terms of the complaint, the burden was on the complainant to prove that the material/goods were received by the appellant, against which the cheques were received as security and even though the appellant has not placed any evidence to disprove or rebut the presumption in defence, still the complainant has to discharge its burden and has to stand on his own legs.

Learned counsel for the appellant further submits that the appellant was able to succeed in creating a doubt in the mind of the court below with regard to the nonexistence of the debt or liability, and the learned trial court had returned the finding based on the material available on record.

Once the facts came on record remained unrebutted and supported with the evidence on record with no substantive evidence of defence of the appellant to explain the incriminating circumstances appearing in the complaint against her, no error has been committed by the High Court in the impugned judgment, and the appellant has been rightly convicted for the offence punishable under Section 138 of the Act and needs no interference of this Court.

Thereafter, two separate legal notices were served by the complainant which were duly received by the appellant and even after receiving the said notices, the appellant neither responded to the notices nor made any payment within the statutory period of fifteen days and only thereafter, two separate complaints were filed by the complainant under Section 138 of the Act against the appellantaccused.

Sumeti Vij V. M/S Pramount Tech Fab Industries

Subsequently, the complainant approached the High Court which affirmed that the primary burden was discharged by complainant that the cheques were issued by the appellant for the materials supplied.

Where any cheque drawn by a person on an account maintained by him with a banker for payment of any amount of money to another person from out of that account for the discharge, in whole or in part, of any debt or other liability, is returned by the bank unpaid, either because of the amount of money standing to the credit of that account is insufficient to honour the cheque or that it exceeds the amount arranged to be paid from that account by an agreement made with that bank, such person shall be deemed to have committed an offence and shall, without prejudice to any other provisions of this Act, be punished with imprisonment for , or with fine which may extend to twice the amount of the cheque, or with both: Provided that nothing contained in this section shall apply unless-.

The drawer of such cheque fails to make the payment of the said amount of money to the payee or, as the case may be, to the holder in due course of the cheque, within fifteen days of the receipt of the said notice.

Section 139- Presumption in favour of holder:-It shall be presumed, unless the contrary is proved, that the holder of a cheque received the cheque of the nature referred to in section 138 for the discharge, in whole or in part, of any debt or other liability.

v. Magnum Aviation Pvt. Ltd. contended that there is absence of prima facie burden being discharged by the complainant and mere issuance of cheque would not be sufficient to justify that the cheques were issued in discharge of the debt.

The drawer of the cheque will be held liable to prosecution on dishonour of cheque.

CONCLUSION. As observed by the court in this judgement itself the object of the provision laid down in section 138 of NI Act is to enhance the acceptability of cheques in the settlement of liabilities and in case where the person issuing the cheques does not exhibit the intention to honour the cheque, he shall be liable on dishonour of the same.

What Is The Pelvic Floor? How Do I Find It And What Does It Do?

The muscles of the pelvic floor normally wrap firmly around these passages.

What Does The Pelvic Floor Do? The pelvic floor plays a number of vital roles in women’s everyday health and wellbeing.

Having strong pelvic floor muscles is essential to the pelvic floor’s function in maintaining continence as part of the urinary and anal sphincters.

The pelvic floor also plays a role in sexual function; when you orgasm, the pelvic floor muscles contract rhythmically.

You may also be able to feel your pelvic floor muscles by inserting a finger to feel the walls of your vagina while lifting and squeezing your pelvic openings.

Yes, the pelvic floor muscles can be weakened by simply carrying excess weight from pregnancy or obesity, through damage during childbirth or from medical conditions.

Yes, like any other muscles, the pelvic floor muscles can be exercised and trained.

What Is Your Pelvic Floor And Why Should You Care?

What is the pelvic floor and where is it located? The pelvic floor is a group of muscles and connective tissues attached to the bones at the bottom of your pelvis.

What does your pelvic floor do? Your pelvic floor is working 24/7, and some of its job duties may surprise you.

Tina Allen, P.T., a physical therapist at the UW Medicine Pelvic Health Center, uses a fairy tale analogy to explain pelvic floor function to her patients.

“Just like Goldilocks didn’t want her porridge too hot or too cold, you don’t want your pelvic floor too tight or too loose. There’s a happy medium with your pelvic floor muscles. You want them just right,” she says.

What happens when your pelvic floor is too tight? Allen, along with Dr. Anna Kirby, an obstetrician-gynecologist who specializes in female pelvic health, often sees young women suffering from a pelvic floor that is too tight.

What happens when your pelvic floor is too loose? Do you sometimes leak pee when you cough, sneeze or laugh at your friends’ latest antics on Instagram? This happens when your pelvic floor muscles receive more pressure than they can handle and is known as stress incontinence.

If your pelvic floor becomes too weak to sufficiently support your pelvic organs, they may shift, bulge or push outward.

The Pelvic Floor

In this article, we shall look at the anatomy of the muscles that make up the inferior lining of the cavity; the pelvic floor muscles.

The pelvic floor is also known as the pelvic diaphragm.

Between the urogenital hiatus and the anal canal lies a fibrous node known as the perineal body, which joins the pelvic floor to the perineum.

As the floor of the pelvic cavity, these muscles have important roles to play in the correct functioning of the pelvic and abdominal viscera.

Innervated by the anterior rami of S4 and S5. The coccygeus is the smaller, and most posterior pelvic floor component – as the levator ani muscles are situated anteriorly.

Pelvic floor dysfunction refers to a range of signs and symptoms that related to abnormal functioning of the pelvic floor muscles.

In women, the pelvic floor muscles support the urethra, vagina, and anal canal.

Pelvic Floor Muscle Training Exercises: MedlinePlus Medical Encyclopedia

Pelvic floor muscle training exercises can help strengthen the muscles under the uterus, bladder, and bowel.

A pelvic floor muscle training exercise is like pretending that you have to urinate, and then holding it.

If you are unsure whether you are doing the pelvic floor muscle training correctly, you can use biofeedback and electrical stimulation to help find the correct muscle group to work.

The therapist can help find the right muscles for performing pelvic floor muscle training exercises.

Tighten the pelvic floor muscles and hold for a count of 10.Relax the muscles completely for a count of 10.Do 10 repetitions, 3 to 5 times a day.

When done the right way, pelvic floor muscle exercises have been shown to be very effective at improving urinary continence.

There are physical therapists specially trained in pelvic floor muscle training.

Muscles Of The Pelvic Floor: Anatomy And Function

These and other questions will be addressed as we discuss the gross anatomy and function of the muscles of the pelvic floor.

The muscles of the pelvic floor contribute to maintaining continence and help prevent the contents of the pelvic cavity from falling through its outlet.

The muscles of the pelvic floor are collectively referred to as the levator ani and coccygeus muscles.

Histologically, the majority of the pelvic floor muscles are made up of slow-twitch or type I muscle fibers.

The prevalence of type I fibers is important given the function of the pelvic floor muscles outlined above.

The muscles of the pelvic floor can be contracted under voluntary control and are therefore skeletal muscles.

The weakening of the pelvic floor muscles can lead to incontinence as well as a pelvic organ or rectal prolapse.

Pelvic Floor Dysfunction: Symptoms, Causes, And Treatment

Pelvic floor dysfunction is the inability to control the muscles of your pelvic floor.

Your pelvic floor is the group of muscles and ligaments in your pelvic region.

Pelvic floor dysfunction forces you to contract your muscles rather than relax them.

There are a number of symptoms associated with pelvic floor dysfunction.

The goal for treating pelvic floor dysfunction is to relax the pelvic floor muscles to make bowel movements easier and to provide more control.

Your doctor may prescribe a muscle relaxant to help with pelvic floor dysfunction symptoms.

If your pelvic floor dysfunction is the result of a rectal prolapse – a condition that causes the rectal tissue to fall into the anal opening – surgery will loosen the affected pelvic organs and cause them to relax.

Gasoline Pump

A gasoline pump is a machine at a filling station that is used to pump gasoline, diesel, or other types of liquid fuel into vehicles.

The first gasoline pump was invented and sold by Sylvanus Bowser in Fort Wayne, Indiana on September 5, 1885, pre-dating the automobile industry- It was commonly used to dispense the kerosene used in lamps and stoves.

When?] the term bowser was used to refer to a vertical gasoline pump.

A modern fuel dispenser is divided into two main parts – an electronic “Head” containing an embedded computer to control the action of the pump, drive the pump’s displays, and communicate to an indoor sales system; and a mechanical section which has an electric motor, pumping unit, meters, pulsers and valves to physically pump and control the fuel flow.

In some cases the actual pump may be sealed and immersed inside the fuel tanks on a site, in which case it is known as a submersible pump.

In general, submersible solutions in Europe are installed in hotter countries, where suction pumps may have problems overcoming cavitation with warm fuels or when the distance from tank to pump is longer than a suction pump can manage.

A modern fuel pump will often contain control equipment for the vapor recovery system, which prevents gasoline vapor from escaping to the air.

U.S. Ban On Russian Oil: What This Means For Americans At The Gas Pump

President Joe Biden’s ban on Russian oil comes as gas prices soared to a record high, leaving Americans to wonder how much more they will have to shell out at the pump and if the move will have its intended effect of discouraging Russia’s assault on Ukraine.

“We’re banning all imports of Russian oil and gas and energy,” Biden said Tuesday in remarks from the White House.

How will the Russian oil ban affect Americans at the pump? Even though “The U.S. largely produces sufficient quantities of crude for domestic consumption, oil is a global market,” Jesse Wheeler, a Morning Consult economic analyst, said.

How much oil does the U.S. import from Russia?Russian oil accounts for only about 8 percent of U.S. oil imports, according to the most recent data from last year.

“Biden’s decision to ban U.S. imports of Russian oil is noteworthy, but movement toward a European ban on imports of Russian oil and gas would be the real showstopper, given Europe’s relatively high dependence on energy supplies from Russia,” Jason McMann, head of geopolitical risk analysis at Morning Consult, said.

The United Kingdom’s business and energy secretary, Kwasi Kwarteng, announced his government would phase out the import of Russian oil and oil products by the end of 2022.”This transition will give the market, businesses and supply chains more than enough time to replace Russian imports – which make up 8% of UK demand,” he said in a series of tweets.

Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte also warned that if countries moved too quickly to ban Russian oil and gas, it could backfire with “Enormous consequences.”
