Stock Market’S Monday Rally Can’T Halt Death Cross Forming In S&P 500 Amid Inflation Fears, Russia-Ukraine Clash
The S&P 500 index is closing in on a death cross Monday, an ominous chart pattern that underscores an asset’s downtrend.
A death cross appears when the 50-day moving average crosses below the 200-day moving average, an event that many chart watchers view as marking the spot a shorter-term correction morphs into a longer-term downtrend.
At last check, the S&P 500 index was trading up 0.9%, with its 50-day moving average at 4,464.58 and its 200-day at 4,467.18.
The death cross for the broad-market benchmark comes as the Dow Jones Industrial Average saw a death cross materialize in Tuesday trade, with a nearly 800-point tumble earlier in the month likely hastening that bearish technical development.
A number of other assets have seen death crosses materialize, including the technology-laden Nasdaq Composite Index in mid February.
The last time the S&P 500 registered a death cross was nearly two years ago on March 30, 2020, at the height of the pandemic-induced selling.
The DJIA saw its death cross materialize at what is widely viewed as stock’s bear-market bottom on March 23, 2020.
Stock Market Today: Dow Gains As Ukraine-Russia War Continues, Fed Meeting Looms
Stocks were mixed Monday, as investors monitored continued talks between Russia and Ukraine ahead of Wednesday’s decision from the Federal Reserve.
The fear for markets is that a continued conflict between Russia and Ukraine will prompt Western nations to sanction Russian oil-the U.S. has already imposed restrictions on imports of Russia’s oil-which will drastically reduce the global supply.
The broader stock market is still prone to selloffs as macroeconomic uncertainty remains high.
Markets expect the Fed to lift the benchmark lending rate by a quarter of a percentage point, but will be listening to hear if the central bank signals a more aggressive rate-hiking path going forward.
“With a perfect storm of market drivers-inflation at all-time highs, extreme geopolitical tensions, and an impending Fed decision-there aren’t a ton of signs that volatility will ease,” wrote Chris Larkin, managing director of trading at ETrade.
On the Fed specifically, “The expected rate hike on Wednesday comes at a tricky time, as we are currently facing a slowing economy and rampant energy and food inflation,” wrote Danielle DiMartino Booth, CEO and chief strategist of Quill Intelligence and former advisor to the president of the Dallas Fed.

Stock Market Index
In finance, a stock index, or stock market index, is an index that measures a stock market, or a subset of the stock market, that helps investors compare current stock price levels with past prices to calculate market performance.
Investors can invest in a stock market index by buying an index fund, which are structured as either a mutual fund or an exchange-traded fund, and “Track” an index.
Stock market indices could be segmented by their index weight methodology, or the rules on how stocks are allocated in the index, independent of its stock coverage.
Market-capitalization weighting based indices weight constituent stocks by its market capitalization, or its stock price by its number of shares outstanding, divided by the total market capitalization of all the constituents in the index.
A stock split for any constituent stock of the index would cause the weight in the index of the stock that split to decrease, even in the absence of any meaningful change in the fundamentals of that stock.
The S&P 500 market-cap weighted index covers the 500 largest stocks from the S&P Total Market Index, but an equally weighted S&P 500 index is also available with the same coverage.
The most regularly quoted market indices are national indices composed of the stocks of large companies listed on a nation’s largest stock exchanges, such as the S&P 500 Index in the United States, the Nikkei 225 in Japan, the DAX in Germany, the NIFTY 50 in India, and the FTSE 100 in the United Kingdom.

Pete Davidson Headed To Space On Blue Origin Craft
Jeff Bezos appears at the Baby2Baby Gala in West Hollywood, Calif., on Nov. 13, 2021 and actor-comedian Pete Davidson appears at the premiere of “Big Time Adolescence” in New York on March 5, 2020.
The “Saturday Night Live” star will be among the six passengers on the next launch of Bezo’s space travel company, Blue Origin.
The “Saturday Night Live” star is among the six passengers on the next launch of Jeff Bezo’s space travel venture Blue Origin, the company announced Monday.
The launch is scheduled for March 23 and Davidson will be the third celebrity on a Blue Origin flight.
Former NFL great and “Good Morning America” co-host Michael Strahan flew on Blue Origin’s second passenger flight in December, joining astronaut Alan Shepard’s daughter on the journey.
Bezos, the founder of Amazon, flew on the company’s first passenger flight last July.
Blue Origin flights give passengers a few minutes of weightlessness above the Earth’s surface before the capsule parachutes and lands in the West Texas desert.
‘Saturday Night Live’ Cast Member Pete Davidson, 5 Others Headed To Space On Blue Origin Flight This Month
March 14 – Saturday Night Live star and actor Pete Davidson is headed to space.
The comedian was announced on Monday as a crew member of the next Blue Origin flight into space on March 23, the Jeff Bezos-owned commercial space travel company said on Monday.
It’S A Date! Comedian Pete Davidson Will Headline Blue Origin Suborbital Space Trip Next Week
Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin space venture has confirmed that “Saturday Night Live” comedian Pete Davidson will be going to space next week, less than a year after he portrayed a hapless Mars astronaut on NBC’s late-night sketch show.
SpaceKids participates in the Postcards to Space program led by the Club for the Future, Blue Origin’s educational foundation.
Jim Kitchen, a teacher, entrepreneur and explorer who has served on the faculty of the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School since 2010.George Nield, a former associate administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration’s Office of Commercial Space Transportation who is now the president of Commercial Space Technologies.
The mission will mark the 20th flight for Blue Origin’s New Shepard suborbital space program, and the fourth crewed flight.
Like those earlier flights, next week’s NS-20 trip will involve launching the hydrogen-fueled, reusable New Shepard suborbital spacecraft to a height beyond 100 kilometers – the so-called Karman Line that marks the internationally accepted boundary of outer space.
Blue Origin said each of the spacefliers on next week’s mission will carry a postcard to space on behalf of the Club for the Future.
New Shepard is just one of the space programs being pursued by Bezos’ 22-year-old space venture, which is headquartered in Kent, Wash.
Pete Davidson Is Riding A Rocket Into Space Cause This World Isn’T Big Enough
Pete Davidson, who seems over the moon for Kim Kardashian, is about to reach space for real, Blue Origin announced on Monday.
The “Saturday Night Live” comedian will blast off aboard a Blue Origin rocket that’s set to soar about 65 miles to the edge of space, providing about four minutes of weightlessness.
Takeoff is scheduled for March 23 at the Blue Origin launch center in West Texas.
Blue Origin, the private spaceflight company launched by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, has carried humans on three previous flights.
“The King of Staten Island” star will be joined on the 20th “New Shepard” mission by Party America CEO Marty Allen; real estate developer Marc Hagle and his wife, SpaceKids Global founder Sharon Hagle; University of North Carolina professor Jim Kitchen; and George Nield, a commercial space transportation associate administrator at the Federal Aviation Administration.
Davidson talked about the possibility of going into space with Bezos at a dinner party back in January and the conversation heated up earlier this month, People noted previously.
While a seat on one of Blue Origin’s earlier flights was auctioned off for a reported $28 million, Bezos has yet to publicly divulge the actual price of a ticket, The New York Times reported last October.
Pete Davidson
Davidson first tried stand-up comedy at age sixteen in a Staten Island bowling alley, where a group of friends, knowing of his comedy aspirations, dared him to take to the stage.
In April of that year, Comedy Central filmed Davidson’s first stand-up special, Pete Davidson: SMD, in New York City.
In January 2019, it was announced that Davidson would be touring with John Mulaney in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts for a limited series of comedy shows titled “Sundays with Pete & John.” Mulaney and Davidson have become close appearing together on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Saturday Night Live.
Davidson apologized to Crenshaw, stating, “I mean this from the bottom of my heart: it was a poor choice of words … the man is a war hero, and he deserves all the respect in the world.” Crenshaw accepted Davidson’s apology and called on Americans to “Never forget” the service and sacrifices of veterans.
In the performance, Davidson tells the audience, “I didn’t think I did anything wrong. It was like words that were twisted so that a guy could be famous … So I made fun of this guy with an eye patch, and then, like, I kind of got forced to apologize.” Crenshaw responded by stating that, although he had initially hoped that Davidson’s apology had been sincere, “You can never tell with comedians.” Crenshaw added, “To be fair, if we took everything that comedians said on a Netflix special seriously, man, our country would be in a world of hurt. I would like to remember the guy that I saw in person and hung out with that night.”
Davidson supported Hillary Clinton in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, and on December 5, 2017, he stated on his Instagram account that he got a tattoo on his leg of Clinton, whom he called his “Hero”, a “Badass”, and “One of the strongest people in the universe.” Clinton herself thanked Davidson for the compliment, joking, “This makes it significantly less awkward that I’ve had a Pete Davidson tattoo for years.” He supported Joe Biden in the 2020 U.S. presidential election.
The music video for Eazy depicted a claymation figure of Davidson being kidnapped, buried and showed his decapitated head. West further attacked Davidson on Instagram in February of the same year after posting an image of the latter and Kardashian together, branding him a “Dickhead” as well as “Hillary Clinton’s ex boyfriend”.
Why Women Fall For Pete Davidson
Pete Davidson, tall, damaged and, for the moment, heavily tattooed, is the unexpectedly hot leading man for our time.
Pete, 27, is riding his excessively modest schtick to star in the upcoming biopic about the late Joey Ramone, another tall, misunderstood and chronically ill soul who rose from Queens to the heights of New York City’s punk rock scene before dying well before his time.
Pete Davidson is both open and funny about the many challenges he faces, mental and physical.
“He’s close to his widowed mom, Amy, and loyal to his friends in show business and out, as well as to the many women who’ve found him irresistible. His secret really isn’t so complicated. He told Paper magazine in 2019,”My love language, when I’m in a relationship, is I treat the person I’m with like a princess.
He’s been linked to desirable women at least since comic actress Carly Aquilino, now 30, around 2015, later reuniting with her in Pete’s 2020 semi-autobiographical movie, “The King of Staten Island.” He was with Cazzie David, now 27, the daughter of comedy legend Larry David, from 2016 to 2018, and in2018 was famously engaged to pop superstar Ariana Grande, now 28, who passive-aggressively dissed Pete by declaring his manhood super-size.
He’s a pothead. And all this is why some of the world’s most attractive women just can’t get enough of him.
In a world jammed with narcissists and poseurs, creeps and phonies, Pete is refreshingly real.
Pete Davidson Reactivates Instagram After Kanye’S ‘Eazy’ Video
The “Saturday Night Live” comic’s brief appearance came on the same day that Kanye West released his jarring music video for “Eazy,” in which he kidnapped and buried Kim Kardashian’s beau, 28, alive.
Davidson’s decision to reactivate his account briefly also came amid a court’s decision to declare the Skims founder legally single as she continues her divorce from West.
Kardashian, 41, appeared at the hearing via video conference and seemed “Happy” despite the difficult subject matter.
She will drop the last name “West” and return to being known as “Kim Kardashian.”
West’s new attorney, Samantha Spector – whom he hired at the last minute after firing his previous counsel within hours of the hearing – said the billionaire rapper had “No issues” with Kardashian getting her name back but was more concerned with his “Assets and interest.”
Kardashian first filed a request to become legally single in December 2021, just a month after Page Six broke the news that she and Davidson were officially dating.
The Skims founder filed for divorce from West, 44, in February 2021 after nearly seven years of marriage.

‘Saturday Night Live’ Parodies Amazon Go
The concept is simple at Amazon Go stores: no lines, no checkout.
In a depiction of the new shopping model hilariously satirized in last night’s episode of “Saturday Night Live,” not every customer seems to think so.
Amazon rolled out the new concept in 2018, and four of the cashierless stores have popped up around downtown San Francisco since then.
The sketch provides a searing tongue-in-cheek portrayal of Amazon Go’s “Just Walk Out” technology – and how the shopping experience might not be so seamless for everyone.
As Strong tries to persuade all of Amazon Go’s shoppers into believing that the grab-and-go technology is advantageous for everyone, using methods like “Sensor fusion” and “Computer vision” to ensure customers get in and out of the store as efficiently as possible, they become even more unconvinced.
She’s pleased to discover the store has her favorite brand of kombucha in stock, but is too paranoid to walk out of the store with it herself, enlisting her white partner for the task.

Rosalía Performs As Musical Guest On Saturday Night Live
Rosalía returned to Saturday Night Live as musical guest this weekend with host Zoë Kravitz after appearing on the show in 2021 to perform a song with Bad Bunny.
The Spanish pop star, 28, performed on SNL as the musical guest for Saturday’s episode, which was hosted by Zoë Kravitz.
Rosalía performed twice on Saturday’s show, treating the audience to “Chicken Teriyaki” and “La Fama.” She is now the first woman to perform both songs entirely in Spanish in the NBC sketch comedy series’ 47-season history.
For her first performance, the singer strutted around the stage in a red lace dress and a thick leather jacket as she performed the third single from her upcoming album Motomami, coming later this month.
Later in the show, Rosalía returned to the stage for a rendition of “La Fama,” the lead single off her upcoming album.
The singer performed the song in an enormous, comforter-inspired Marc Jacobs jacket atop a white crop top and matching pants, which she paired with white gloves and a unique white headpiece.
While Saturday was her first official episode as musical guest, Rosalía previously appeared on the show to perform with Bad Bunny.
‘The Batman’ Star Zoë Kravitz Assembles A Team Of Catwomen On ‘Saturday Night Live’
“The Batman” star Zoë Kravitz proudly wore the Catwoman mantle while hosting “Saturday Night Live” this weekend with musical guest Rosalía.
“I currently have a new movie out called ‘The Batman,'” Kravitz announced at the top of the show.
“In the movie, I play Catwoman – sorry, the cat woman. To prepare for the role, I watched the movie musical ‘Cats’ every day for a year – which I actually heard was the same way Joaquin Phoenix prepared to play the Joker.”
Not a minute into Kravitz’s stand-up set, fan-favorite “SNL” player Kate McKinnon rushed the stage in a form-fitting latex cat suit resembling Michelle Pfeiffer’s iconic costume from 1992’s “Batman Returns.”
As Kravitz made several futile attempts to continue introducing herself to the audience, more and more catty characters came crawling out of the woodwork.
In another standout sketch, Kravitz portrayed a maid of honor delivering a speech at her best friend’s wedding.
“She’s always had my back, even when nobody else agreed with me,” Kravitz said.
Saturday Night Live
Saturday Night Live is an American late-night live television sketch comedy and variety show created by Lorne Michaels and developed by Dick Ebersol.
In 1974, NBC president Herbert Schlosser approached his vice president of late night programming, Dick Ebersol, and asked him to create a show to fill the Saturday night time slot.
The show was originally called NBC’s Saturday Night, because Saturday Night Live was in use by Saturday Night Live with Howard Cosell on the rival network ABC. After the cancellation of the Cosell show, NBC purchased the rights to the name in 1976 and officially adopted the new title on March 26, 1977.
Debuting on October 11, 1975, the show quickly developed a cult following, eventually becoming a mainstream hit and spawning “Best of Saturday Night Live” compilations that reached viewers who could not stay awake for the live broadcasts.
If a sketch is still scheduled beyond Thursday, it is rehearsed on Friday or Saturday before moving to a rehearsal before a live audience at 8 p.m., again on Saturday before the live show.
Elements of Saturday Night Live that are pre-recorded, such as certain commercial parodies, SNL Digital Shorts, and show graphics are processed off-site in the post-production facilities of Broadway Video.
In 2004, former cast member Jay Mohr released his memoir Gasping for Airtime: Two Years in the Trenches of Saturday Night Live about his struggles during his two seasons on the show between 1993 and 1995, dealing with getting sketches on-air and the intense work schedule.
Saturday Night Live

Cross Laminated Timber Construction
CLT panels consist of layered lumber boards stacked crosswise at 90-degree angles and glued into place.
Alternating grains improve CLT panels’ dimensional stability.
As with other mass timber products, CLT can be left exposed in building interiors – up to 8 stories in the 2021 IBC, offering additional aesthetic attributes.
Like other mass timber products, CLT can be used in hybrid applications with materials such as concrete and steel.
In structural systems, such as walls, floors, and roofs, CLT panels serve as load-bearing elements.
In wall applications, the lumber used in the outer layers of a CLT panel is typically oriented vertically so its fibers run parallel to gravity loads, maximizing the wall’s vertical load capacity.
Check out the project page for images of the building and to learn how CLT and glue-laminated timber.
Cross-Laminated Timber Initiative At Virginia Tech – Center For Forest Products Business
The faculty here at Virginia Tech have been involved in research, development and promotion of CLT for more than a decade.
We will evaluate for delamination of the hardwood veneer and lumber from the softwood core and determine what influence the hardwood layers have on the strength properties of CLT. We will conduct a market perception test of the hardwood veneer laminated CLT panels among architects and structural designers in the U.S. We believe that the results of this work could increase the market for hardwood veneers and lumber by 10% of the current consumption… USDA Forest Service.
The collaboration among the organizations proposes to: 1) apply the shear analogy method to hardwood species listed in the National Design Standards supplement to assure these species are feasible for the construction of structural CLT panels, 2) create a custom grade CLT layup made of yellow poplar lumber and get its approval by the Engineered Wood Association, 3) train the hardwood industry in the Midwest and in the Southeast on the application of hardwood structural lumber grading rules, and 4) perform mechanical testing on the hardwood CLT panels used in the Conversation Plinth project by IKD Architectures in Columbus, IN. In 2012 Virginia Tech conducted the first experimental tests on hardwood CLT panels.
Further investigation by Virginia Tech found that the main limitations for the use of yellow poplar and other low value hardwood species in CTL panels are 1) lack of experimental data on other hardwood species used in CLT panels, 2) lack of supply of structurally graded hardwood lumber, and 3) acceptance and validation of hardwood CLT panels by the APA standard.
Research conducted at Virginia Tech has demonstrated the feasibility of using low value timber for CLT panels, creating a new market opportunity for the traditional hardwood lumber industry.
A previous CRCF-funded study by Southern Virginia Higher Education Center/Virginia Tech research team found the material properties of CLTs fabricated from Southern Yellow Pine, a major commercial timber species in Virginia, were acceptable within the ANSI/APA PRG 320 standard.
The Wood Products Community of Practice will be used to disseminate information related to hardwood CLTs. A unique aspect of this proposal is the combination of three land-grant research institutions with the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center.
Cross Laminated Timber
Cross laminated timber panels are formed by stacking and gluing together successive perpendicular layers of wood.
With recent advances in codes, mass timber construction is reaching greater heights and can be designed for in high rise buildings such as the Framework 12-story building.
We can deliver mass timber projects of any size across the USA and Canada.
Our experienced structural engineers are licensed in many states and provinces, often providing Engineer of Record services as experienced designers with timber and other materials.
Our skilled Design team uses an in-house CAD-based software for standard mass timber structures, or Rhino and Grasshopper for complex structures.
In the design phase, we parametrically model each project to allow for quick design collaboration and coordination.
Using our detailed fabrication drawings and CNC machine files, machining and milling of the panels is typically performed at the CLT producer’s plant.
Cross Laminated Timber: What It Is And How To Use It
How can we change this situation if most of the materials we use are not renewable, and therefore, finite?
Popularized in Europe and gradually gaining attention in the rest of the world, Cross Laminated Timber stands out for its strength, appearance, versatility, and sustainability.
The material consists of planks of sawn, glued, and layered wood, where each layer is oriented perpendicular to the previous.
It’s a sustainable material because it’s composed of wood, a renewable resource, and doesn’t require the burning of fossil fuels during its production.
Silvio Lagranha Machado, a partner at MAPA, points out that “Since it is a solid panel composed of a single material, the structure requires no cladding, which reduces the need for labor and materials for its final appearance. The same wall that receives the structural stresses of the roof remains exposed, but there is still the option to cover it without any major problems.” Generally, the surfaces are only given the application of a transparent waterproofing, making the natural designs of the fibers of the wood evident.
Although the cost of the material is high, factors such as shorter construction time, greater quality control, and cleaning can be taken into account when making your choice.
Considering that the construction industry still relies heavily on non-renewable resources, Laminated Cross Timber can be an excellent choice for building material.
CLT Disadvantages And Advantages
While lumber is used to manufacture CLT. There is no doubt that the CLT is stronger than the traditional Lumber and plywood.
Because the hollow and knotted parts of the timber are removed during the CLT manufacturing process.
Multiple layers are used with CLT for such as weather protection(on the outermost wall), insulation, CLT Panel, and Internal Lining(From the inside).
In this step, the finished CLT panel reaches from the manufacturing production house to the CLT store.
Good thermal insulation performance and good sound insulation properties are additional benefits of CLT. CLT has a thermal conductivity of 0.13W/mK. In properties of thermal performance, it is better than traditional wood logs, steel, and concrete.
An average 26.5% reduction in global warming potential has been achieved in CLT buildings compared to concrete and other construction material.
CLT is a great material for the new construction era.

Depending on the results of this selection, the timber fit for CLT will be used to create either construction grade CLT or appearance grade CLT. Timber that cannot fit into either category may be used for different products such as plywood or glued laminated timber.
For construction grade CLT, the timber that has better structural properties will be used in the interior layers of the CLT panel while the two outermost layers will be of higher aesthetic qualities.
In September 2016 the world’s first timber mega-tube structure was built at the Chelsea College of Arts in London, using hardwood CLT panels.

Wood is the only major building material that grows naturally and is renewable.
SmartLam Cross-Laminated Timber also has a lighter carbon footprint as wood products continue to store carbon absorbed by the trees while growing, and engineered wood manufacturing requires significantly less energy to produce than concrete and steel.
This represents a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.

What Is Recruitment Process Outsourcing?
An RPO provider is responsible for the management of the permanent recruitment within a business, and typically has outsourced recruiters based onsite – embedded within the HR or people function of the business.
An effective RPO program installs a talent acquisition team, the latest recruitment technology, and flexible recruitment processes within an organisation.
The benefits of RPO. Recruitment process outsourcing is a solution that has enormous potential.
Not only does an RPO provider ensure that you hire and retain the best talent, but it’s also more cost-effective than traditional recruitment.
Outsourcing recruitment through an RPO solution is one of the most effective ways for businesses to reduce their talent acquisition spend.
As RPO providers take care of all permanent recruitment and provide an end-to-end service, they take a big chunk of responsibility outside of the HR sphere.
Project RPO. A Project RPO also utilises an end-to-end process but is deployed to quickly bring in experts to fulfil an unexpected staffing need, on a single project basis.

Recruitment Process Outsourcing: The Ultimate Guide
Using an RPO provider can help you ramp up your staff quickly without needing to hire and train your own internal recruiting department.
By definition, RPO is a form of business process outsourcing where an outside provider handles all or part of your recruiting and hiring activity.
An RPO provider should help you lower the amount that you spend per new hire.
RPO firms typically provide two levels of service: project outsourcing and total outsourcing.
Identifying whether you need project or total outsourcing will help you determine if an RPO provider can meet your needs.
It’s important to choose an RPO provider whose staff you could work well with since the RPO will serve as an extension of your internal HR team.
Most importantly, outsourcing your hiring to an RPO firm can help you find people who are a great fit for your organization in a fraction of the time.
A Complete Guide On Recruitment Process Outsourcing
Essentially, RPO is a form of business process outsourcing when a company transfers part or all of its recruitment activities to a third-party service provider.
Function-based RPO – This comprises outsourcing the entire recruitment process for a specific department to an RPO service provider with expertise hiring in that department.
End-to-end RPO – As the name suggests, this involves outsourcing the full recruitment for the company to the service provider, who plans and handles each step of the recruitment.
In response to these reservations, the Recruitment Process Outsourcing Association was set up in 2005 to provide resources to educate companies about exactly what RPO involves.
Best practices when getting started with RPO. No process is perfect, and even recruitment process outsourcing may not yield the results you want if you go about it the wrong way.
At the end of the day, the two most important people in the recruitment process are the final candidate and the hiring manager, and recruitment needs to be designed with the needs of both in mind.
In short, recruitment process outsourcing can significantly enhance your HR function’s capabilities by fulfilling hiring needs in a cost-effective, strategic fashion.

The Aon Hewitt Employee Engagement Model Engaged Employees “Say, Stay, and Strive” The Aon Hewitt engagement model above includes the organizational drivers and business outcomes of engagement as well as the individual outcome-engagement itself.
We operationalize employee engagement as a construct of six items composed of three observable facets of “Say, stay, and strive” with two items each, as shown in the following table.
The reliability of the engagement scores obtained across industries and regions suggests that these items provide a consistent and reliable measure of engagement.
As our engagement model in Figure 1 suggests, we repeatedly see strong correlations between our employee engagement metric and important talent, operational, customer, and financial outcomes across clients in a wide variety of industries and regions.
In our database of over 8 million employees across organizations, we find that the companies with top quartile engagement levels have 50% higher total shareholder return than the average company, and companies with bottom quartile engagement levels have 50% lower TSR than the average company.

How To Write An Annual Report: 4 Tips For Preparing Annual Reports
The annual report usually starts with an introduction and a letter from the chairman, primary owner or the CEO of the company to the shareholders providing a snapshot of the significant developments in the past year, company initiatives and a brief summary of the financials.
The financial statements are the most important part of the annual report that allows current and future investors, shareholders, employees and other business stakeholders to determine how well the company has performed in past, its ability to pay off its debts and its plans for growth.
Annual reports are important elements of a brand’s transparency and accountability.
Apart from the basic elements such as introduction, chairman’s letter, business profile and financial statement, the annual report should have a storyline that defines the overall structure of the report and shapes the content around a narrative thread. This makes it easier to identify and cut out information that does not actively move the story forward.
Creating an annual report is a long-term process that requires an organized system for recording and tracking data, media clipping, photographs and a list of business achievements.
While a number of companies create the annual reports in-house, others may hire a design firm to compile, proofread and finalize the document.
The annual reports keep your critical business information up to date.

What does it mean in practice? Is it necessary for the telecommunications service providers to develop your custom business support systems, or it’s enough to rely on the existing platforms?
Business support systems are responsible for handling four types of processes: customer management, revenue management, product management, and order management.
Business support systems play such a crucial role in optimizing business processes in the telecom industry that they should meet your needs 100%. That doesn’t mean that you need to create new solutions from scratch.
An extensive number of features that are not necessarily useful may have a negative impact on the telecom business process, so it’s better to limit them to the essential ones.
The choice of BSS telecom systems and their structure depends on the size and specifics of the telecom network and many other variables.
OSS/BSS systems automate the transfer of customer order data and order processing, maintain network infrastructure, control cost, monitor revenue, and optimize interface experience.
They also provide service provisioning, network configuration, fault management, inventory management, and order management.
Manually entering order details wastes time and increases the likelihood of errors.
OSS/BSS products replace manual administrative processes, automate data entry, expedite the order process, maximize revenue goals, and monitor customer experience.
Standard OSS/BSS features are accessible on open source or cloud-based solutions, starting at $2-$10 per month.
Larger operators will require more complex OSS/BSS systems, and buyers must request a quote for a single licensing fee with an annual subscription.

Domain Name
Domain names are often simply referred to as domains and domain name registrants are frequently referred to as domain owners, although domain name registration with a registrar does not confer any legal ownership of the domain name, only an exclusive right of use for a particular duration of time.
The right to use a domain name is delegated by domain name registrars, which are accredited by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, the organization charged with overseeing the name and number systems of the Internet.
Management functions delegated to the administrative contacts may include management of all business information, such as name of record, postal address, and contact information of the official registrant of the domain and the obligation to conform to the requirements of the domain registry in order to retain the right to use a domain name.
The functions of a technical contact include assuring conformance of the configurations of the domain name with the requirements of the domain registry, maintaining the domain zone records, and providing continuous functionality of the name servers.
Many registrars have implemented domain name suggestion tools which search domain name databases and suggest available alternative domain names related to keywords provided by the user.
Domain name variants are domain names recognized in different character encodings, like a single domain presented in traditional Chinese and simplified Chinese.
A fictitious domain name is a domain name used in a work of fiction or popular culture to refer to a domain that does not actually exist, often with invalid or unofficial top-level domains such as “.

Clinicians cannot use clinical examination to differentiate viral and group A strep pharyngitis in the absence of viral symptoms.
Clinicians need to use either a rapid antigen detection test or throat culture to confirm group A strep pharyngitis.
Clinicians should confirm group A strep pharyngitis in children older than 3 years of age to appropriately guide treatment decisions.
Clinicians can use a positive RADT as confirmation of group A strep pharyngitis in children.
Some people with recurrent episodes of acute pharyngitis with evidence of group A strep by RADT or throat culture actually have recurrent episodes of viral pharyngitis with concurrent streptococcal carriage.
CDC does not track the incidence of group A strep pharyngitis or other non-invasive group A strep infections.
Pharyngitis: Causes, Symptoms, And Diagnosis
Pharyngitis is inflammation of the pharynx, which is in the back of the throat.
It’s most often referred to simply as “Sore throat.” Pharyngitis can also cause scratchiness in the throat and difficulty swallowing.
Pharyngitis may be caused by bacterial or viral infections.
Less commonly, pharyngitis is caused by a bacterial infection.
Rare causes of bacterial pharyngitis include gonorrhea, chlamydia, and corynebacterium.

8.Tixagevimab plus cilgavimab: These are recombinant human anti-SARS-CoV-2 mAbs that bind to nonoverlapping epitopes of the spike protein RBD of SARS-CoV-2.
The FDA has issued an EUA for tixagevimab plus cilgavimab that allows the combination to be used as SARS-CoV-2 PrEP. Before the pause in distribution of bamlanivimab plus etesevimab and casirivimab plus imdevimab, the FDA had expanded the product EUAs to allow the regimens to be used as PEP for certain individuals who are at high risk of acquiring SARS-CoV-2 infection and, if infected, are at high risk of progressing to serious illness.
Because the Omicron VOC has become the dominant variant in the United States and real-time testing to identify currently rare, non-Omicron variants is not routinely available, the Panel recommends against using bamlanivimab plus etesevimab or casirivimab plus imdevimab…Treatment with anti-SARS-CoV-2 mAbs should be started as soon as possible after SARS-CoV-2 infection is confirmed by an antigen test or a nucleic acid amplification test and within 10 days of symptom onset.
The ACTIV-3/TICO trial also randomized hospitalized patients with COVID-19 to receive sotrovimab 500 mg IV, an anti-SARS-CoV-2 mAb combination of BRII-196 1,000 mg IV plus BRII-198 1,000 mg IV, or placebo, each in addition to remdesivir.
Ongoing population-based genomic surveillance of the types and proportions of circulating SARS-CoV-2 variants, as well as studies on the susceptibility of different variants to available anti-SARS-CoV-2 mAbs, will be important in defining the utility of specific mAbs in the future.
Monoclonal Antibodies
Monoclonal antibodies are antibodies that have a high degree of specificity for an antigen or epitope.
Monoclonal antibodies are typically derived from a clonal expansion of antibody producing malignant human plasma cells.
The initial monoclonal antibodies were created by fusing spleen cells from an immunized mouse with human or mouse myeloma cells, and selecting out and cloning the hybrid cells that produced the desired antibody reactivity.
Subsequently, production of chimeric mouse-human monoclonal antibodies and means of further “Humanizing” them and producing fully human recombinant monoclonal antibodies were developed.
Many of the initial monoclonal antibodies used in clinical medicine were immunomodulatory agents with activity against specific immune cells, such as CD4 or CD3 lymphocytes, which are important in the pathogenesis of rejection after solid organ transplantation.
Subsequently, monoclonal antibodies were prepared against specific cytokines, which were believed to play a role in cell and tissue damage in immunologically mediated diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, alkylosing spondylitis, inflammatory bowel disease, multiple sclerosis and psoriasis, among others.
Therapeutic monoclonal antibodies were developed, aimed at blocking or inhibiting the activity of specific enzymes, cell surface transporters or signaling molecules and have been used in cancer chemotherapy and to treat severe viral infections.
COVID-19: Evidence Based Medicine
Data from controlled clinical trials demonstrated that high-risk patients who received COVID-19 monoclonal antibodies had a decrease in the risk of progression to severe disease, hospitalization, or death compared to patients who received placebo was used in support of the EUA. The use of combination monoclonal antibody therapy could be considered in certain high-risk populations in an attempt to prevent hospitalizations.
Given questions of scarcity, we would recommend that significant steps be taken to prevent inequities in distribution across patient populations with access to combination monoclonal antibody therapies.
The safety and efficacy of these therapies for use in the treatment of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 continues to be evaluated.
Currently, data does not support the use of monoclonal antibody therapy for patients hospitalized for COVID-19.
Monoclonal Antibody
A monoclonal antibody is an antibody made by cloning a unique white blood cell.
Bispecific monoclonal antibodies can also be engineered, by increasing the therapeutic targets of one monoclonal antibody to two epitopes.
In 1988, Greg Winter and his team pioneered the techniques to humanize monoclonal antibodies, eliminating the reactions that many monoclonal antibodies caused in some patients.
Several monoclonal antibody technologies have been developed recently, such as phage display, single B cell culture, single cell amplification from various B cell populations and single plasma cell interrogation technologies.
Either cation exchange chromatography is used at a low enough pH that the desired antibody binds to the column while anions flow through, or anion exchange chromatography is used at a high enough pH that the desired antibody flows through the column while anions bind to it.
Recombinant antibody engineering involves antibody production by the use of viruses or yeast, rather than mice.
Monoclonal antibodies for research applications can be found directly from antibody suppliers, or through use of a specialist search engine like CiteAb.
COVID-19 Monoclonal Antibody Therapy: What You Need To Know
Depending on your age, health history, COVID-19 vaccination status, and how long you’ve had symptoms of COVID-19, you may qualify for a form of treatment called monoclonal antibody therapy.
Emily Spivak, MD, associate professor of medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at University of Utah Health, answers common questions about monoclonal antibody therapy for COVID-19.
If you haven’t received the COVID-19 vaccine or had a previous COVID-19 infection, your body will not have antibodies designed to recognize a new virus like SARS-CoV-2.
Monoclonal antibody therapy is a way of treating COVID-19 for people who have tested positive, have had mild symptoms for seven days or less, and are at high risk for developing more serious symptoms.
The FDA has authorized the emergency use of monoclonal antibody therapy for the treatment of COVID-19 under an Emergency Use Authorization for people 12 years of age or older.
“In multiple randomized controlled trials, high-risk outpatients with confirmed COVID-19 were 2-7% less likely to be hospitalized with severe COVID-19,” Spivak says.
Given that COVID-19 vaccination provides strong protection against severe disease and need for hospitalization, monoclonal antibody therapy is an option for certain high-risk patients with COVID-19.
Monoclonal Antibody Side Effects
An antibody is a protein that sticks to a specific protein called an antigen.
Monoclonal antibodies are man-made proteins that act like human antibodies in the immune system.
Once attached, the antibody attracts immune cells to destroy these cells.
Other naked mAbs work mainly by attaching to and blocking antigens on cancer cells that help cancer cells grow or spread. For example, trastuzumab is an antibody against the HER2 protein.
The antibody delivers radioactivity directly to cancer cells.
Examples include: Brentuximab vedotin, an antibody that targets the CD30 antigen, attached to a chemo drug called MMAE. Ado-trastuzumab emtansine, an antibody that targets the HER2 protein, attached to a chemo drug called DM1… Bispecific monoclonal antibodies.
Cetuximab is an antibody that targets a cell protein called EGFR, which is found on normal skin cells.

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD, refers to a group of diseases that cause airflow blockage and breathing-related problems.
COPD makes breathing difficult for the 16 million Americans who have this disease.
Millions more people suffer from COPD, but have not been diagnosed and are not being treated.
Although there is no cure for COPD, it can be treated.
Symptoms And Causes
COPD symptoms often don’t appear until significant lung damage has occurred, and they usually worsen over time, particularly if smoking exposure continues.
People with COPD are also likely to experience episodes called exacerbations, during which their symptoms become worse than the usual day-to-day variation and persist for at least several days.
COPD causes them to lose their elasticity and over-expand, which leaves some air trapped in your lungs when you exhale.
In the vast majority of people with COPD, the lung damage that leads to COPD is caused by long-term cigarette smoking.
There are likely other factors at play in the development of COPD, such as a genetic susceptibility to the disease, because not all smokers develop COPD. Other irritants can cause COPD, including cigar smoke, secondhand smoke, pipe smoke, air pollution, and workplace exposure to dust, smoke or fumes.
In about 1% of people with COPD, the disease results from a genetic disorder that causes low levels of a protein called alpha-1-antitrypsin.
Asthma, a chronic inflammatory airway disease, may be a risk factor for developing COPD. The combination of asthma and smoking increases the risk of COPD even more.
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
The 2019 GOLD report outlines a simplified method of evaluating and choosing the initial treatment for patients with COPD. The refined ABCD assessment tool guides healthcare providers to determine the severity of disease and the GOLD group classification.
The COPD Assessment Test provides a score on eight functional parameters to measure the impact of the disease on a patient’s daily life.
Management is largely based on the severity of the disease and symptoms as outlined by GOLD. See Figure 1 and Table 4 for initial and commonly used medications in the treatment of COPD. Severe cases may require surgical intervention including bullectomy, lung volume reduction surgery, or lung transplantation.
Pulmonary rehabilitation is indicated in all stages of COPD. It is a comprehensive plan that is tailored to patients and may involve therapies such as exercise training, education, and behavioral changes.
COPD is a chronic inflammatory lung disease causing tissue destruction and irreversible airflow limitation.

Smoking is the main cause of COPD. The more a person smokes, the more likely that person will develop COPD. But some people smoke for years and never get COPD. In rare cases, nonsmokers who lack a protein called alpha-1 antitrypsin can develop emphysema.
Because the symptoms develop slowly, many people may not know that they have COPD. The best test for COPD is a lung function test called spirometry.
With an x-ray, the lungs may look normal, even when a person has COPD. A CT scan will usually show signs of COPD. Sometimes, a blood test called arterial blood gas may be done to measure the amounts of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the blood.
There is no cure for COPD. But there are many things you can do to relieve symptoms and keep the disease from getting worse.
Pulmonary rehabilitation does not cure COPD. But it can teach you more about the disease, train you to breathe in a different way so you can stay active and feel better, and keeps you functioning at the highest level possible.

The two most common conditions of COPD are emphysema and chronic bronchitis, and they have been the two classic COPD phenotypes.
Chronic bronchitis can occur before the restricted airflow diagnostic of COPD. Some people with COPD attribute the symptoms to the consequences of smoking.
Alcohol abuse can lead to alcoholic lung disease and is seen to be an independent risk factor for COPD. Mucociliary clearance is disrupted by chronic exposure to alcohol; macrophage activity is diminished and an inflammatory response promoted.
COPD develops as a significant and chronic inflammatory response to inhaled irritants which ultimately leads to bronchial and alveolar remodelling in the lung known as small airways disease.
The diagnosis of COPD should be considered in anyone over the age of 35 to 40 who has shortness of breath, a chronic cough, sputum production, or frequent winter colds and a history of exposure to risk factors for the disease.
Chronic bronchitis with normal airflow is not classified as COPD. Most cases of COPD are potentially preventable through decreasing exposure to tobacco smoke and other indoor and outdoor pollutants.
Tai chi exercises appear to be safe to practice for people with COPD, and may be beneficial for pulmonary function and pulmonary capacity when compared to a regular treatment program.

An eye dropper, also known as a Pasteur pipette, or dropper, is a device used to transfer small quantities of liquids.
The combination of the pipette and rubber bulb has also been referred to as a teat pipette.
The eye dropper, both glass and plastic types, can be sterilized and plugged with a rubber bulb at the open end of the pipette preventing any contamination from the atmosphere.
To use the dropper, the bulb is squeezed to expel air out of the pipette and the tip of the pipette is submerged into the solution vertically.
The two types of glass that are usually found in the laboratory and in the Pasteur pipette are Borosilicate glass and Soda lime glass.
Plastic Pasteur pipettes, also referred to as transfer pipettes, have their stems and bulbs in the form of a single piece made of soft plastic such as polyethylene.
The vapor is then drawn into the relatively cold pipette tip, causing it to condense and accumulate inside of the pipette.

The 5 Best Sennheiser Headphones Of 2022: Reviews
The best Sennheiser headphones for casual use that we’ve tested are the Sennheiser Momentum 3 Wireless.
Out of the box, they have a bass-heavy sound profile that adds extra thump, rumble, and boom to mixes.
That said, if you prefer a different sound, their companion app has a parametric EQ plus presets so that you can tweak them to suit your tastes.
The headphones also support aptX and aptX-LL codecs, offering better sound quality and lower latency.
They leak some audio at high volumes, and escaping audio can bother others around you.
They also have a somewhat bulky design, and their soft carrying case may not completely protect your headphones from damage caused by accidental drops or falls.
That said, if you’re looking for headphones with a hard case, the Sennheiser PXC 550-II Wireless offer similar performance, although they have a lesser build quality and lack a parametric EQ for finetuning their sound.

Sennheiser Sells Off Its Consumer Brand – TechCrunch
The deal will bring headphones and sound bars to Sonova’s existing portfolio, which is largely centered around healthcare products.
Among other things the deal could have interesting implications for the so-called hearables category, which can walk the line between headphones and healthcare products.
Sennheiser will shift the entirety of its focus to its pro products.
“To be best able to exploit the potential in each of these markets, we are concentrating our own resources on the three business areas in the Professional division and are looking for a strong partner to invest in our Consumer business,” Co-CEO Daniel Sennheiser noted at the time.
Sennheiser describes the deal as a “Permanent cooperation” between the two, including licensing the company’s name.
The existing consumer wing, including many of its employees, will transfer to Sonovo.
“We are convinced that Sonova will strengthen the Sennheiser Consumer Business in the long term and capture the major growth opportunities.”

In 1988, following a motorcycle trip taken by the company’s founder and his son, Kettle Foods established a UK branch in a converted shoe factory in Norwich, Norfolk, England; the branch moved five years later to its current UK home, a newly built factory on the outskirts of Norwich.
In October 2007, campaigns were launched on Facebook calling for a boycott of Kettle Foods products following allegations that the company was attempting to dissuade workers at its Norwich factory from joining trade union Unite.
Kettle Foods paid $350,000 in civil penalties and costs and agreed to cut their potato chips’ levels of acrylamide to 275 parts per billion by 2011, an 87% reduction.
Lion Capital put Kettle Foods up for sale in December 2009, with an asking price of around US$700 million and in February 2010 sold it for $615 million to California-based Diamond Foods, which owns brands such as Pop Secret popcorn.

Founder Cameron Healy said he had “No master plan,” but he “Wanted to develop products of natural integrity” and “Take natural foods to the world.” By 2011, with its signature line of potato chips, the company had acquired a strong and growing international market share and had become a supporter for social and environmental causes.
Healy, whose Sikh name was Nirbhao Singh Khalsa, graduated from the university in 1972 and moved to Salem, where he founded the Golden Temple Foods distribution company.
In 1988, he changed his company’s name to Kettle Foods.

Rapid Expansion Throughout the 1980s-90s. Throughout the early 1980s, Kettle Chips were a strong item in natural food stores, which then enjoyed a $1.9 billion market segment in the United States.
At first, Kettle Chips were available in only two versions-salted and unsalted-but in time the company added flavored varieties, such as New York Cheddar with Herbs, Yogurt and Green Onion, and Red Chile.
In 1994, Kettle Foods fried more than 6.5 million pounds of potatoes a year and produced almost five million bags of potato chips, a 480,000 increase from 1993.
In 1995, 50 percent of the company’s overall sales came from chips, which it sold throughout Oregon, Washington, and northern California, as well as in Canada and Japan; 30 percent came from nuts and trail mixes sold in bulk to grocery stores in the western United States; and 20 percent from tortilla chips and soybean margarine.
By the late 1990s, Kettle workers rotated among five different buildings, one each for potato chips, tortilla chips, baked chips, peanuts, and offices.
In the new Salem plant, large signs lined the corridor: “Be passionate about quality” and “Create good will in every action.” In 2001, Kettle Foods began to offer seasonal additions of chips and organic chips made from organic potatoes cooked in oil from organically grown safflower seeds.

Guaranteed Investment Certificates
“I Want to Grow My Money without Worrying about Potential Losses.” A GIC is a secure investment that guarantees 100% of your original investment, while earning interest at a fixed or variable rate, or based on a specific formula.
Invest with peace of mind knowing that your original investment is guaranteed.
Choose from a variety of investment terms and interest payment frequencies that suits your needs.
Enjoy competitive rates that are guaranteed for the full term of your investment.
Enjoy the security of a GIC and the higher return potential that comes with an equity investment.
Choose between a guaranteed minimum return and unlimited upside potential.
Available on certificates that pay interest semi-annually, annually and at maturity.
Guaranteed Investment Certificates: A Complete Guide
If you want one of the safest investments, look to Guaranteed Investment Certificates, or GICs.
How to buy a GIC. The actual process of buying a GIC is not that much different from opening an account – which you’ll need in order to buy a GIC at a bank in the first place.
You’ll need to complete a form or two, and perhaps offer some sort of identity verification like a photo ID and your SIN. What is a non-redeemable GIC?
You can even put a GIC inside of a registered investment account, like your RRSP, TFSA, or RRIF. With your money in a shelter like this, you’re not taxed on the interest earned.
As explained above, when you purchase a GIC, the bank gives you a guaranteed interest rate.
As explained above, some GICs can be held in a registered investment account.
For starters, with a GIC, your interest rate is guaranteed for a set period of time.
What Is A GIC? Guide To Guaranteed Investment Certificates
GICs are a form of investment where you agree to lend money to a bank for a set amount of time.
If you think that you might need the money before the GIC maturity, you might want to look into redeemable GICs.
Every time a GIC expires, you reinvest the money into the longest possible term.
GIC laddering involves splitting up your investment into separate terms.
With this method, you keep the GIC ladder going, and you have the advantage of always getting a better yield, since you are putting your money into a longer-term GIC. Plus, each year, as another GIC matures, you have the option of taking advantage of possibly-higher yields and locking them in.
It’s possible to set up a GIC ladder so that a GIC matures every six months, or every three months.
If you’re looking to invest on GICs, I recommend signing up for a Tangerine account and going with either the Tangerine Tax-Free Guaranteed Investment or Tangerine RSP Guaranteed Investment options.

Get a guaranteed rate and the flexibility to cash out.
Leverage the power of the stock market while keeping your investment safe.

Monitor your investments digitally with online and mobile banking.
Guaranteed Investment Certificates
Your total interest rate is annual and calculated by adding the posted rate and your promotional rate.
For the non-registered Bonus Rate GIC, the rate is for the $1,000 to $4,999 investment tier.
3 For the non-registered CIBC Bonus Rate GIC, the minimum investment is $1,000 and the maximum is $999,999.
For the CIBC Bonus Rate RRSP GIC and CIBC Bonus Rate TFSA GIC, the minimum investment is $500 and the maximum is $999,999.
The rate is equal to the CIBC Prime Rate less a fixed spread and will change one day after the CIBC Prime Rate changes.
A Bonus Rate RRSP GIC will automatically reinvest into a Bonus Rate RRSP GIC for the same term.
A Bonus Rate TFSA GIC will automatically reinvest into a Bonus Rate TFSA GIC for the same term.
Canadian Guaranteed Investment Certificate
In Canada, a guaranteed investment certificate is a deposit investment sold by Canadian banks and trust companies.
The GIC works much like a certificate of deposit in the U.S. In the case of GICs, you deposit money in the bank and earn interest on that money.
GICs are considered safe investments because the financial institutions that sell them are legally obligated to return investors’ principal and interest.
Even if the bank fails, investors are insured for up to 100,000 Canadian dollars by the Canadian Deposit Insurance Corporation.
A bank’s profit is the difference between lending rates and the rates they pay on GICs.
If mortgage rates are at 8% and GICs are at 5%, then that 3% difference is the bank’s profit.
As noted above, many Canadian banks and trust companies sell GICs.
What Is A GIC? Guaranteed Investment Certificates
GICs are financial products that provide a guaranteed return when you agree to lend money to a financial institution for a fixed period.
A three-year GIC would offer a higher interest rate than a one-year GIC. When you buy a GIC, you’re essentially creating a contract with the borrower.
Let’s say a one-year GIC is available with a 2% interest rate.
If you were to invest $10,000 into a one-year GIC with an interest rate of 3.50%, you’d have $10,350 when the term is up.
You won’t pay taxes on any interest you earn on your GIC while it’s in one of these accounts, but you will have to be mindful of any age or contribution limits.
A non-registered GIC is a GIC that is not held in a registered account.
You’ll be taxed on the interest earned if the GIC is held outside of a registered account.

Days Of The Year
Hosted since 2008, World Sleep Day is a global awareness act that celebrates sleep and aims to help those with serious sleep problems.
World Sleep Day focuses on various issues related to sleep, sleep medicine, education about sleep, and the social effects that sleep deprivation can have on everyday life.
According to the American Sleep Association, over 50 to 70 million people have some type of sleeping disorder, over 25 million have sleep apnea, and the most commonly reported sleep problem is insomnia.
World Sleep Day aims to bring people together, whether everyday people or healthcare providers, to discuss sleep problems, help find solutions, and prevent sleep problems for those who don’t yet have them.
Doctors such as Liborio Parrino, MD, Italy and Antonio Culebras, MD, were the first co-chair members of World Sleep Day and aided in creating the World Sleep Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping fund research for ever-pervading sleep problems faced in the world today.
Celebrate World Sleep Day by doing the one thing everyone loves at the end of each day; sleep! Take the day off and sleep as long as you want.
Slumber, Calm, Sleep Cycle, and Reflectly are all committed to helping either soothe the brain toward sleep or to measure the sleeping rhythms during the night.
I’M A GP And Here’S How To Trick Your Body Into Falling Asleep FASTER
IT’S one of the most important things we can all do for our health – get enough sleep.
Sleep is an essential function that allows your body and mind to recharge, leaving you feeling refreshed when you wake up.
What am I doing wrong and how can I get to sleep faster?
We can train our brain to know when it is time to sleep.
Try to eliminate screen use for at least an hour before bed, eat your last meal at least three hours before bed, and have an activity that you do each night which informs the brain it is approaching the time to sleep.
Sleep experts tell us that the bedroom should only be used for two things – sleep and sex.
A) Night sweats are when you sweat so much that your night clothes and bedding are soaking wet, even though the room where you’re sleeping is cool.
CHICAGO – We all need sleep, but many of us are not getting enough of it.
Studies showed that Black people suffer more from sleep deprivation than white people.
Loretto Hospital Social Worker Ben Leven joined ABC7 to help viewers understand the reasons why some get less sleep than others.
Leven talked about whether he has seen sleep deprivation gaps in Chicago similar to those reported in the recent studies.
He also discussed how important sleep is to people’s health compared to weight loss and healthy eating.
He additionally explained what basic sleep hygiene looks like.

What Is It And Why Does It Exist In The First Place?
On March 18th, 2022, World Sleep Day® is celebrated, a day that was first created by a group of healthcare providers and members of the medical community who studied sleep.
More important than sleep itself, is to promote healthy sleep and to remind us of all about the human privilege that is often compromised by the habits of modern life, as is mentioned on their website.
Did you know that sleep and mental health are closely connected? Those with mental health problems are more likely to have insomnia or other sleep disorders.
How does quality sleep help maintain mental health? – is one of the questions addressed by World Sleep Day this year.
Others include – How might better sleep help people focus during the day? – or – How might fatigue weigh us down physically, mentally, and emotionally?
All focusing on the importance of quality sleep and raising awareness for the fact that sleep is a foundational pillar of human health.
Over 200 activities were organized by volunteers worldwide for World Sleep Day 2021 and published on their website.
World Sleep Day 2022
World Sleep Day-the annual celebration of healthy sleeping patterns and awareness day for sleep disorders-falls on the 18th March 2022.
Quality sleep is essential to good mental health and living a happy life.
It’s important we take time to raise awareness of this, and World Sleep Day is a good time to do so.
This varies between individuals, some of us need more and some less, but we can all recognise the difference when we have had enough sleep to feel refreshed, recharged and ready for the day ahead. You are probably already aware of the impact a poor night’s sleep can have, but it can affect many aspects of our physical and mental health.
Physical health: Poor sleep can have a serious impact on our physical health.
Improve your routine and make sleep a priority: Think about your day and try to keep to the same time for getting up and going to bed.

Meet The New Boss: Canadian National CEO Tracy Robinson
Canadian National shocked the railroad world this week with the selection of Tracy Robinson, a Canadian energy executive and former Canadian Pacific official, as its next CEO. The surprise came mostly from the fact that she is not a marquee name in railroad circles and has been out of the industry for eight years.
Some at CP viewed Robinson as potential CEO material and considered her to be among the contenders to one day replace then-CEO Fred Green.
TC Energy hired Robinson away from CP in 2014, when the company’s pipelines were full and it had to turn to CP and CN to ship crude by rail from Western Canada to refineries on the U.S. Gulf Coast and in Eastern Canada.
Robinson went on to become executive vice president at TC Energy and president of its Canadian natural gas pipelines and Coastal GasLink, a pipeline being built across British Columbia to an export terminal at Kitimat, B.C. Robinson’s deep ties in the Calgary business community will give her a head start at CN because she’s already on a first-name basis with people at the railway’s largest customers in Western Canada.
While Robinson already knows railroading, she brings another perspective to CN: experience as a rail shipper.
Outgoing CEO J.J. Ruest praised Robinson during CN’s earnings call on Tuesday.
That’s a huge win for CN and provides Robinson with a clean slate as she takes charge.
National Business League President And CEO Ken Harris Continues Booker T. Washington’S Vision To Uplift Black Professionals
Kenneth Harris is the president and CEO of the National Business League.
The organization is the largest and the first association for Black professionals and was founded by Booker T. Washington in 1900.
Harris is continuing Washington’s legacy by applying historic African principles with a no-nonsense determination to secure economic freedom for Black and Brown communities.
For those who don’t know of the legacy, what is the purpose of the organization?
When I think about the National Negro Business League, which was founded 122 years ago by the iconic and legendary Booker T. Washington – who was really a voice beyond his years – Booker T’s message is more relevant today than it was 122 years ago.
When you think of someone who was not only born on the plantation, understood what it would take for Black people to progress in this system, that we see still prevalent today, to create an organization founded on the promotion of commerce activity, and the promotion of Black business success in the early 1900s.
I’m carrying on the legacy of that individual who really stood out front.

“People from all backgrounds benefit from the training and education the National Restaurant Association and Educational Foundation provides, and it will be fulfilling to be a part of that important work.” Korsmo continued in the release.
“The search committee led an exhaustive search for a people-centered leader with extensive business acumen and deep policy experience. We have found this in Michelle. She brings – to both our Association and Foundation – association leadership experience, including working closely with policymakers on a bipartisan basis. On a personal level, she embodies a warm sense of hospitality,” said Lance Trenary, chair of the National Restaurant Association Board, in a release.
Marvin Irby, the association’s chief financial officer, has been serving as interim CEO since Bené’s resignation.
Post Idea #31: Decision support system

Overview, Components, Types
In an organization, a DSS is used by the planning departments – such as the operations department – which collects data and creates a report that can be used by managers for decision-making.
Theoretically, a DSS can be employed in various knowledge domains from an organization to forest management and the medical field.
A DSS is more tailored to the individual or organization making the decision than a traditional system.
The three main components of a DSS framework are:.1.
The user interface includes tools that help the end-user of a DSS to navigate through the system.
Disadvantages of a Decision Support SystemThe cost to develop and implement a DSS is a huge capital investment, which makes it less accessible to smaller organizations.
A DSS may lead to information overload because an information system tends to consider all aspects of a problem.
Decision Support System Definition
A decision support system is a computerized program used to support determinations, judgments, and courses of action in an organization or a business.
A decision support system gathers and analyzes data, synthesizing it to produce comprehensive information reports.
In organizations, a decision support system analyzes and synthesizes vast amounts of data to assist in decision-making.
To help diagnose a patient, a medical clinician may use a computerized decision support system for diagnostics and prescriptions.
Combining clinician inputs and previous electronic health records, a decision support system may assist a doctor in diagnosing a patient.
Broadly speaking, decision support systems help in making more informed decisions.
At the same time, decision support systems can be used to produce reports for customers that are easily digestible and can be adjusted based on user specifications.
Decision Support Systems
The common thread of articles published in Decision Support Systems is their relevance to theoretical and technical issues in the support of enhanced decision making.
The areas addressed may include foundations, functionality, interfaces, implementation, impacts, and evaluation of decision support systems.
DSS Foundations e.g. principles, concepts, and theories of enhanced decision making; formal languages and research methods enabling improvements in decision making.
DSS Functionality e.g. methods, tools, and techniques for developing thefunctional aspects of enhanced decision making; solver, model, and/or data management in DSSs; rule formulation and management in DSSs; DSS development and use in computer supported cooperative work, negotiation, research and product.
DSS Interfaces e.g. methods, tools, and techniques for designing and developing DSS interfaces; development, management, and presentation of knowledge in a DSS; coordination of a DSS’s interface with its functionality.
DSS Implementation – experiences in DSS development and utilization; DSS management and updating; DSS instruction/training.
DSS Evaluation and Impact e.g. evaluation metrics and processes; DSS impact on decision makers, organizational processes and performance.
There is much anecdotal and some empirical evidence that structuring decision problems and identifying creative decision alternatives determine the ultimate quality of decisions.
Decision support systems aim mainly at this broadest type of decision making, and in addition to supporting choice, they aid in modeling and analyzing systems, identifying decision opportunities, and structuring decision problems.
4 Modeling Decisions The superiority of even simple linear models over human intuitive judgment suggests that one way to improve the quality of decisions is to decompose a decision problem into simpler components that are well defined and well understood.
Components of Decision Models While mathematically a model consists of variables and a specification of interactions among them, from the point of view of decision making a model and its variables represent the following three components: a measure of preferences over decision objectives, available decision options, and a measure of uncertainty over variables influencing the decision and the outcomes.
Decision-Analytic Decision Support Systems An emergent class of DSSs known as decision-analytic DSSs applies the principles of decision theory, probability theory, and decision analysis to their decision models.
Decision theory is an axiomatic theory of decision making that is built on a small set of axioms of rational decision making.
The approach taken by decision analysis is compatible with that of DSSs. The goal of decision analysis is to provide insight into a decision.
What Is A Decision Support System?
A decision support system is a computer program application used to improve a company’s decision-making capabilities.
A decision support system is an informational application as opposed to an operational application.
A knowledge base is an integral part of a decision support system database, containing information from both internal and external sources.
Model-driven DSS. Built on an underlying decision model, model-driven decision support systems are customized according to a predefined set of user requirements to help analyze different scenarios that meet these requirements.
Knowledge-driven DSS. In this type of decision support system, the data that drives the system resides in a knowledge base that is continuously updated and maintained by a knowledge management system.
ERP dashboards can use a decision support system to visualize changes in production and business processes, monitor current business performance against set goals and identify areas for improvement.
A clinical decision support system is a software program that uses advanced decision-making algorithms to help physicians make the best medical decisions.
Decision Support Systems
Introduction A brief history of Decision Support Systems Systems definition and description Classification of DSS subtypes Different information needs of different levels of management Breeds of DSS The DBMS The Data Warehouse Managerial requirements for a DSS The intangible payoffs of a DSS Evaluation methodology for the DSS Creating the team Defining/refining requirements Evaluating alternatives Vendor selection Conclusion.
By early 1980s Decision Support Systems enjoyed more interests from academics and the framework for Decision Support Systems was greatly expanded by the end of the decade.
The rapid expansion of the Internet provided additional opportunities for the scope of Decision Support Systems and consequently many new innovative systems such as OLAP and other web-drive systems were developed.
Knowledge driven DSS are often referred to as management expert systems or intelligent decision support systems.
Web-based DSS are computerized systems that delivers decision support information or decision support tools to a manager or business analyst using a “Thin-client” Web browser like Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer.
OLAP and web-based Decision Support Systems are by far the more popular Decision Support Systems these days.
Decision Support Systems remains a tool that can provide firms with a sustainable competitive advantage and in many industries a robust Decision Support Systems are the rule rather than the exception.
Types Of Decision Support Systems
Decision Support Systems are a class of computerized information system that support decision-making activities.
DSS are interactive computer-based systems and subsystems intended to help decision makers use communications technologies, data, documents, knowledge and/or models to complete decision process tasks.
A decision support system may present information graphically and may include an expert system or artificial intelligence.
Examples: chats and instant messaging softwares, online collaboration and net-meeting systems.
The usual technology used to set up such DSSs are via the web or a client/server system.
Examples: Knowledge-driven DSS: Knowledge-driven DSSs or ‘knowledgebase’ are they are known, are a catch-all category covering a broad range of systems covering users within the organization seting it up, but may also include others interacting with the organization – for example, consumers of a business.
The typical deployment technology used to set up such systems could be slient/server systems, the web, or software runnung on stand-alone PCs. Model-driven DSS Model-driven DSSs are complex systems that help analyse decisions or choose between different options.
Post Idea #32: Programmable logic controller

Programmable Logic Controller
PLCs were originally designed to replace relays, and very simple PLCs may be referred to as programmable logic relays.
The PLC applies this ladder logic by looking at inputs from digital or analog devices such as sensors that are connected to the outside world and comparing them to set points.
2.Ladder logic is created using a software application on a PC and then is programmed onto a PLC by connecting that PC and transferring the ladder logic code onto the PLC. This PC can be a dedicated system or it can be a function of an HMI system.
3.Sometimes PLCs use “Step Logic,” which differs from ladder logic in that each step is tested in isolation and progresses to the next step only upon completion, whereas in ladder logic every step is tested in each scan.
The PLC applies this ladder logic by looking at inputs from discrete devices that are connected to the manufacturing equipment, and performing a desired output function based on the “State” of these inputs.
The original device was suitable for solving problems suitable for digital logic representation, with sensors and actuators using logic for input and output.
Programs are entered into a PLC’s memory using a program device which is usually not permanently connected to a particular PLC and can be moved from one controller to the next without disturbing operations.
Programmable Logic Controller
PLCs were first developed in the automobile manufacturing industry to provide flexible, rugged and easily programmable controllers to replace hard-wired relay logic systems.
He was involved in the invention of the Allen‑Bradley programmable logic controller and is credited with inventing the PLC initialism.
A primary reason for this is that PLCs solve the logic in a predictable and repeating sequence, and ladder logic allows the person writing the logic to see any issues with the timing of the logic sequence more easily than would be possible in other formats.
A PLC is an industrial microprocessor-based controller with programmable memory used to store program instructions and various functions.
Modern PLCs can be programmed in a variety of ways, from the relay-derived ladder logic to programming languages such as specially adapted dialects of BASIC and C. While the fundamental concepts of PLC programming are common to all manufacturers, differences in I/O addressing, memory organization, and instruction sets mean that PLC programs are never perfectly interchangeable between different makers.
Desktop computer controllers have not been generally accepted in heavy industry because the desktop computers run on less stable operating systems than PLCs, and because the desktop computer hardware is typically not designed to the same levels of tolerance to temperature, humidity, vibration, and longevity as the processors used in PLCs. Operating systems such as Windows do not lend themselves to deterministic logic execution, with the result that the controller may not always respond to changes of input status with the consistency in timing expected from PLCs. Desktop logic applications find use in less critical situations, such as laboratory automation and use in small facilities where the application is less demanding and critical.
PLCs may include logic for single-variable feedback analog control loop, a PID controller.
What Is PLC ? Programmable Logic Controller
There are a few key features that set PLCs apart from industrial PCs, microcontrollers, and other industrial control solutions: I/O – The PLC’s CPU stores and processes program data, but input and output modules connect the PLC to the rest of the machine; these I/O modules are what provide information to the CPU and trigger specific results.
Communications – In addition to input and output devices, a PLC might also need to connect with other kinds of systems; for example, users might want to export application data recorded by the PLC to a supervisory control and data acquisition system, which monitors multiple connected devices.
PLCs offer a range of ports and communication protocols to ensure that the PLC can communicate with these other systems.
In today’s world of the Industrial Internet of Things, and Industry 4.0 programmable controllers are called upon to communicate data via Web browser, connect to databases via SQL, and even to the cloud data via MQTT. An All-in-One PLC integrates the controller with the HMI panel, creating a compact, easy-to-use automation solution.
A PLC program is usually written on a computer and then is downloaded to the controller.
Most PLC programming software offers programming in Ladder Logic, or “C”. Ladder Logic is the traditional programming language.
In addition to the traditional PLC described above, there are variations, including PLC + HMI controllers.
Programmable Logic Controller
A solid-state control system that has a user-programmable memory for storing instructions for the purpose of implementing specific functions such as I/O control, logic, timing, counting, three mode control, communication, arithmetic, and data and file processing.
A small industrial computer originally designed to perform the logic functions executed by electrical hardware.
PLCs have evolved into controllers with the capability of controlling complex processes, and they are used substantially in SCADA systems and DCS. PLCs are also used as the primary controller in smaller system configurations.
PLCs are used extensively in almost all industrial processes.
Programmable Logic Controllers
A programmable logic controller is an industrial computer with inputs and outputs used in the control and automation of industrial processes.
A PLC is designed to withstand more harsh factory conditions and provide real time deterministic control and monitoring.
Range-free controller covers versatile range of system in single model.
The FA-M3 provides system expandability, unlimited by system size, and also allows the use of common spare parts.
To expand the system, simply add desired modules, all of the same size.
The installation leaves ample room within the control panel for standardization and efficiency improvement through panel design.
With the FA-M3 PLC, a developer can give full rein to his creativity to build systems and realize control that fits his applications.
PLC Programmable Controllers
From the original programmable logic controller invented in the 1970s to the scalable, multi-disciplined and information-enabled programmable automation controller, Allen-Bradley® control systems help you meet complex to simple application requirements.
With multi-disciplined control solutions built focusing on controllers and I/O and combined with attachment portfolios, you can deliver a smart, productive and secure Integrated Architecture® system in discrete, process, motion, and safety applications.

Cotton Swab
Cotton swabs or cotton buds are handheld items that consist of one or two small wads of cotton wrapped around one or both ends of a short rod made of wood, rolled paper, or plastic.
The first mass-produced cotton swab was developed in 1923 by Polish-American Leo Gerstenzang after he watched his wife attach wads of cotton to toothpicks to clean their infant’s ears.
The term “Q-tip” is often used as a genericized trademark for a cotton swab in the U.S. and Canada.
The traditional cotton swab has a single tip on a wooden handle, and these are still often used, especially in medical settings.
These medical grade swabs are rubbed onto or into the infected area, then wiped across the culture medium, such as an agar plate, where bacteria from the swab may grow.
Special brands of cotton swabs exist for this purpose, characterised by sturdier cotton heads and varied shapes of those heads.
In the US between 1990 and 2010, an estimated 263,338 children went to hospital emergency rooms for cotton swab injuries, accounting for an estimated annual hospitalization of 13,167 children.
McMaster-Carr
These swabs dissipate static electricity and are often used for cleaning electronic components.
Swabs are abrasive, so they’re good for cleaning.
You can also use them to apply adhesives and solvents.
Swabs have an inner cotton core for padding and extra absorbency.
In addition to cleaning, they’re good for applying adhesives and solvents.
What Is A Cotton Swab?
A cotton swab is a small, thin shaft which terminates at one or both ends with a tightly wound cluster of soft cotton.
Introduced commercially in the 1920s, the cotton swab is a common household item in many countries.
The design of a cotton swab is simple, comprising just a thin rod wrapped at one or both ends with a cluster of soft cotton.
Another key difference between household cotton swabs and medical swabs is that household swabs tend to be tipped with cotton at both ends, while medical swabs usually have just one cotton tip.
Perhaps the most common household use for the cotton swab is cleaning ear wax from the outer part of the ear canal.
There are many household uses for the cotton swab apart from cleaning the ears.
In addition to these household uses, the cotton swab also has several medical applications.

Lithium Production From Canada’S Aquifer Brines Said ‘Competitive’
“Lithium production from deep aquifer brines located within Western Canada can be competitive,” said researchers in a CERI study titled “Economic Assessment of Lithium Production Potential from Canadian Oil and Gas Operations.”
“Subsurface or deep aquifer brines are abundant in Alberta and Saskatchewan oil and gas fields, and in select regions exhibit elevated lithium concentrations and thus a potential resource.”
Western Canadian production caters to evolving environmental, social and governance investment standards with a method known as direct lithium extraction, or DLE. “As consumers and battery manufacturers expand their focus on sustainable manufacturing and ESG performance indicators, environmental impacts of current lithium mineral production and chemical refining are a key consideration,” CERI said.
In southern Saskatchewan, Emerald Park-based Prairie Lithium Corp. has announced the first Canadian lithium discovery well.
Calgary-based E3 Metals Corp. has raised C$9.8 million and embarked on a three-well program to evaluate lithium in a brine aquifer associated with the 1947 Leduc oil discovery that launched the Alberta fossil fuel industry.
CERI suggests the top contenders to be industrial-scale suppliers of lithium for vehicle batteries would be team affairs that make the mineral a byproduct of oil and gas drilling that encounter brine aquifers.
“Amongst a group of producers within a geographic region of an asset with lithium enriched brines, such as the Marcellus Shale, the Duvernay Shale, or the Montney formation … the lithium quantity with sustained enrichment could justify a coordinated development.”

Carbon Dioxide
As the source of available carbon in the carbon cycle, atmospheric carbon dioxide is the primary carbon source for life on Earth and its concentration in Earth’s pre-industrial atmosphere since late in the Precambrian has been regulated by photosynthetic organisms and geological phenomena.
Baker’s yeast produces carbon dioxide by fermentation of sugars within the dough, while chemical leaveners such as baking powder and baking soda release carbon dioxide when heated or if exposed to acids.
Carbon dioxide is used in many consumer products that require pressurized gas because it is inexpensive and nonflammable, and because it undergoes a phase transition from gas to liquid at room temperature at an attainable pressure of approximately 60 bar, allowing far more carbon dioxide to fit in a given container than otherwise would.
Carbon dioxide extinguishers work well on small flammable liquid and electrical fires, but not on ordinary combustible fires, because they do not cool the burning substances significantly, and when the carbon dioxide disperses, they can catch fire upon exposure to atmospheric oxygen.
As the concentration of carbon dioxide increases in the atmosphere, the increased uptake of carbon dioxide into the oceans is causing a measurable decrease in the pH of the oceans, which is referred to as ocean acidification.
Contrary to the long-standing view that they are carbon neutral, mature forests can continue to accumulate carbon and remain valuable carbon sinks, helping to maintain the carbon balance of Earth’s atmosphere.
The carbon dioxide content of the blood is often given as the partial pressure, which is the pressure which carbon dioxide would have had if it alone occupied the volume.
Climate Change: Vital Signs Of The Planet
In Brief: Human activities have profoundly increased carbon dioxide levels in Earth’s atmosphere.
Carbon dioxide is an important heat-trapping gas, which is released through human activities such as deforestation and burning fossil fuels, as well as natural processes such as respiration and volcanic eruptions.
The first graph shows atmospheric CO2 levels measured at Mauna Loa Observatory, Hawaii, in recent years, with the average seasonal cycle removed.
The second graph shows CO2 levels during the last three glacial cycles, as reconstructed from ice cores.
Since the beginning of the industrial era, human activities have raised atmospheric concentrations of CO2 by nearly 49%. This is more than what had happened naturally over a 20,000 year period.
The time series below shows global distribution and variation of the concentration of mid-tropospheric carbon dioxide in parts per million.
The overall color of the map shifts toward the red with advancing time due to the annual increase of CO2.
What Is Carbon Dioxide? How It Affects Your Health & Why You Should Measure
Carbon Dioxide or CO2 is a greenhouse gas that is natural and harmless in small quantities, but as levels rise it can affect productivity and sleep.
Most commonly produced indoors by the air we exhale, CO2 levels concentrate indoors with less ventilation.
AT SCHOOLOR IN THE OFFICE. Studies show that people have a much harder time learning, performing simple and complex tasks, and making decisions, as CO2 levels rise.

Carbon Dioxide In Blood: MedlinePlus Medical Test
A CO2 blood test measures the amount of carbon dioxide in your blood.
Too much or too little carbon dioxide in the blood can indicate a health problem.
Other names: carbon dioxide content, CO2 content, carbon dioxide blood test, bicarbonate blood test, bicarbonate test, total CO2; TCO2; carbon dioxide content; CO2 content; bicarb; HCO3.
A CO2 blood test is often part of a series of tests called an electrolyte panel.
Your health care provider may have ordered a CO2 blood test as part of your regular checkup or if you have symptoms of an electrolyte imbalance.
If your health care provider has ordered more tests on your blood sample, you may need to fast for several hours before the test.
Some prescription and over-the-counter medicines can increase or decrease the amount of carbon dioxide in your blood.
Carbon Dioxide Poisoning
Carbon dioxide is a physiologically important gas, produced by the body as a result of cellular metabolism.
At low concentrations, gaseous carbon dioxide appears to have little toxicological effect.
Solid carbon dioxide may cause burns following direct contact.
If it is warmed rapidly, large amounts of carbon dioxide are generated, which can be dangerous, particularly within confined areas.
The management of carbon dioxide poisoning requires the immediate removal of the casualty from the toxic environment, the administration of oxygen and appropriate supportive care.
In severe cases, assisted ventilation may be required.
Dry ice burns are treated similarly to other cryogenic burns, requiring thawing of the tissue and suitable analgesia.
Definition, Formula, Uses, & Facts
Carbon dioxide,, a colourless gas having a faint sharp odour and a sour taste.
At ordinary temperatures, carbon dioxide is quite unreactive; above 1,700 °C it partially decomposes into carbon monoxide and oxygen.
Ammonia reacts with carbon dioxide under pressure to form ammonium carbamate, then urea, an important component of fertilizers and plastics.
Carbon dioxide is slightly soluble in water, forming a weakly acidic solution.
Carbon dioxide is used as a refrigerant, in fire extinguishers, for inflating life rafts and life jackets, blasting coal, foaming rubber and plastics, promoting the growth of plants in greenhouses, immobilizing animals before slaughter, and in carbonated beverages.
Ignited magnesium continues to burn in carbon dioxide, but the gas does not support the combustion of most materials.
Prolonged exposure of humans to concentrations of 5 percent carbon dioxide may cause unconsciousness and death.
Climate Change: Atmospheric Carbon Dioxide
Based on preliminary analysis, the global average atmospheric carbon dioxide in 2020 was 412.5 parts per million, setting a new record high amount despite the economic slowdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since 2000, the global atmospheric carbon dioxide amount has grown by 43.5 ppm, an increase of 12 percent.
Global atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations in parts per million for the past 800,000 years.
Each year we put more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere than natural processes can remove, which means the net global amount of carbon dioxide rises.
In the 1960s, the global growth rate of atmospheric carbon dioxide was roughly 0.6 0.1 ppm per year.
The annual rate of increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide over the past 60 years is about 100 times faster than previous natural increases, such as those that occurred at the end of the last ice age 11,000-17,000 years ago.
Increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide are responsible for about two-thirds of the total energy imbalance that is causing Earth’s temperature to rise.
