FDA Investigating Illnesses Linked To Lucky Charms

The Food and Drug Administration is investigating why hundreds of consumers have reported becoming ill after eating Lucky Charms cereal, The Post has learned.

On Friday, The Post reported that the sugary cereal made by General Mills is believed to be making people sick, with consumers complaining that they began vomiting and experiencing diarrhea after eating a bowl of Lucky Charms.

Now the Food and Drug Administration said it’s aware of the reports “And is looking into the matter,” the agency told The Post.

“The FDA takes seriously any reports of possible adulteration of a food that may also cause illnesses or injury,” an FDA spokesperson said in a statement, adding, “Depending on the seriousness of the problem, an FDA investigator may visit the person who made the complaint, collect product samples, and initiate inspections.”

“The complaints are also discussed with company management during these inspections,” the spokesperson added, declining to say whether the FDA had contacted General Mills.

General Mills told The Post last week that it did not believe its cereal was making people sick, but it conceded that there is an “Ongoing review” of the matter.

Nearly 140 people from July 2021 to March 2022 reported via Iwaspoisoned.com that they got sick after eating Lucky Charms.

NEW YORK – Posts to a website where consumers can complain about illnesses brought on by food claim Lucky Charms cereal made them sick in recent days.

Iwaspoisoned.com lists more than 100 complaints about the General Mills sugary breakfast cereal causing them or others nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

“My daughter, husband, and I all had diarrhea and vomiting after eating Lucky Charms cereal the week of March 27th 2022. We were so sick!! Worse than the flu with vomiting every 5 minutes.”

As of Tuesday, there were no reported recalls by the manufacturer of the cereal.

In 2018, more than 70 people in 31 states fell ill with salmonella as a result of eating Kellogg’s Honey Smacks cereal, according to the FDA and CDC. In 2015, General Mills recalled 1.8 million boxes of Cheerios and Honey Nut Cheerios produced at a plant in Lodi, California, saying the cereal was labeled gluten-free but actually contains wheat.

The Quaker Oats Company issued a voluntary recall of a small quantity of Cap’n Crunch’s Peanut Butter Crunch cereal due to the potential presence of salmonella.

Lucky Charms Customers Complain Of Food Illness Linked To The Cereal

Consumers may want to think twice before pouring themselves a bowl of Lucky Charms.

The popular cereal has been linked to hundreds of reported illnesses nationwide, with consumers taking to iwaspoisoned.com, the website that in the past has helped identify numerous foodborne illness outbreaks, to detail their cases of falling ill.

Consumers who have purchased and eaten Lucky Charms cereal and subsequently fallen ill have reported experiencing a mix of symptoms, including diarrhea, cramps, nausea, vomiting, headache, bloating, body ache, gas, stomach pain, and fever, with symptoms occurring shortly after consuming Lucky Charms cereal and lasting anywhere from a few hours to several days.

Recalling their experience, one consumer from Lawton, Oklahoma wrote that they “Have been suffering with severe stomach and intestinal problems along with bloating and body aches and headaches” ever since they began eating Lucky Charms.

Another person said their entire family fell ill and experienced “Diarrhea and vomiting after eating cereal the week of March 27th 2022. We were so sick!! Worse than the flu with vomiting every 5 minutes.” A third consumer shared they fell ill shortly after eating the cereal last month “And is still having problems and pains.” Several consumers suggested the illnesses may be linked to the dye used in the cereal’s marshmallows, with one person writing, “I think there is a dye that is in the cereal that cause digestion problems with me.”

The illnesses have not been linked to Lucky Charms sold at a particular store, with consumers reporting having purchased boxes of the cereals at retailers including Walmart, Food Lion, H-E-B, Shoppers, Target, Price Chopper, Meijer, and Market Basket.

Although it remains unclear if Lucky Charms cereal is actually linked to the reported illnesses or if there was possible contamination, this would not be the first time a cereal has been linked to illnesses due to foodborne pathogen contamination.

This Pace Bowler Is India’S Lucky Charm…

IMAGE: After a long injury lay-off, Thangarasu Natarajan made a comeback in Sunrisers Hyderabad’s second match of IPL 2022 against Lucknow Super Giants on Monday.

Photograph: BCCI. Former coach Ravi Shastri hailed Thangarasu Natarajan as a death bowling specialist, saying the Indian team missed the left-arm pacer sorely during its T20 World Cup debacle in the UAE last year.

Natarajan, who came to limelight in India’s historic Test series win Down Under in 2021, suffered a knee injury and missed most part of the year before making a comeback in Sunrisers Hyderabad’s second match of IPL 2022 against Lucknow Super Giants on Monday.

India had made a heartbreaking group stage exit in the T20 World Cup in 2021.

Shastri was the head coach when the leftarm pacer made his debut for India across the three formats in their memorable 2020-21 tour to Australia.

The former coach said Natarajan was a lucky charm for them.

“Every game I have picked him we have won. In his debut in T20, India won. In his debut in Test cricket, India won. From a net bowler, he played those other two formats,” Shastri said.

Post Idea #2: Honey Smacks

Honey Smacks

Honey Smacks is a sweetened puffed wheat breakfast cereal made by Kellogg’s, noted for its high sugar content.

In Australia, the cereal had been known as Honey Smacks since the 1970s.

In a 2008 comparison of the nutritional value of 27 cereals, US magazine Consumer Reports found that both Honey Smacks and the similar Golden Crisp were still the two brands with the highest sugar content, more than 50 percent, commenting “There is at least as much sugar in a serving of Kellogg’s Honey Smacks as there is in a glazed doughnut from Dunkin’ Donuts”.

The product title Honey Smacks is inconsistent with honey being a minor ingredient in the recipe.

Kellogg’s announced a voluntary recall of certain Honey Smacks packages on June 14, 2018, due to the possible presence of salmonella.

These ads featured Wally pestering a kid eating a bowl of Honey Smacks and doing anything to get some, and the kid would always refuse or just ignore Wally completely.

While ads for Honey Smacks no longer air in the US, more recent ads in other countries depict[when?] Dig’em as a character who is crazily addicted to Smacks.

The Untold Truth Of Honey Smacks

According to PopIcon, cereal and food mascots have long gone hand in hand, and consumers are very much drawn towards these colorful characters.

Honey Smacks has had several different mascots over the years, including the oh-so-creepy Cliffy the Clown, who, from 1953 to 1956, was shown in advertisements dancing the “Sugar Smack Swing”.

Smaxey the Seal came next; this seal in a sailor suit outfit represented the cereal for four years beginning in 1957.

In 1961, Smaxey was replaced by Hanna-Barbera’s horse sheriff Quick Draw McGraw, who was swiftly followed by The Smackin’ Brothers, who, uh, smacked each other a lot.

In the ’70s, Honey Smacks were repped briefly by an Indian Chief, who was quickly replaced by the Dig’em Frog we all know and love today.

The Dig’em Frog was not the last mascot the cereal has had! He was replaced by Wally the Bear in 1986, a short-lived mascot who faded away following consumer demand for the return of his predecessor.

PopIcon reports that college students actually held a one-day demonstration to demand the return of the Dig’em Frog returning to the cereal box, and just a year later, the popular mascot was back.

Kellogg Company Voluntarily Recalls Honey Smacks Cereal Due To Possible Health Risk

Kellogg Company today announced it is voluntarily recalling 15.3 oz.

Packages of Kellogg’s Honey Smacks cereal because these products have the potential presence of Salmonella.

No other Kellogg products are impacted by this recall.

Kellogg launched an investigation with the third-party manufacturer who produces Honey Smacks immediately after being contacted by the Food & Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control regarding reported illnesses.

According to the CDC, use or consumption of products contaminated with Salmonella may result in serious illness.

HOW TO IDENTIFY THE RECALLED PRODUCT. The affected product includes the following varieties distributed across the United States as well as limited distribution in Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, the Caribbean, Guam, Tahiti and Saipan.

Kellogg is asking that people who purchased potentially affected product discard it and contact the company for a full refund.

Cereal Eats Face-Off: Honey Smacks Vs. Golden Crisp

Golden Crisp goes so far as to call itself “Wholesome” sweetened puffed wheat cereal.

Maybe if Golden Crisp was the only sweetened puffed wheat cereal option out there, I would reach for it.

Honey Smacks Originally called Sugar Smacks, this was my dad’s favorite sweet cereal growing up.

The cereal is lighter in color and sturdier in constitution than Golden Crisp.

Personally, though I’m a big cereal milk fan, I do get grossed out by the grainy film of cereal that remains.

Most cereal milk has some sort of thickness to it because the cereal disintegrates.

What say you, cereal lovers? Are these both duds? Anyone out there still buying Golden Crisp? Smacks fans, you with me?

Un Costco Bientôt Dans La Région?

AFFAIRES.

A typical synthetic procedure is outlined as follows: The sodium silicate aqueous solution was added dropwise to the mixed solutions of different CTMAB/SL molar ratio according to the gel molar composition described in Table 1.

Sodium Silicate

Sodium silicate is a generic name for chemical compounds with the formula Na2xSiyO2y+x orx·(SiO2)y, such as sodium metasilicate Na2SiO3, sodium orthosilicate Na4SiO4, and sodium pyrosilicate Na6Si2O7.

An example of the reaction of sodium silicate with the calcium hydroxide found in concrete to form calcium silicate hydrate gel, the main product in hydrated Portland cement, follows.

Sodium silicate is used, along with magnesium silicate, in muffler repair and fitting paste.

When dissolved in water, both sodium silicate and magnesium silicate form a thick paste that is easy to apply.

In this application, the sodium silicate is typically mixed with kaolin, an aluminium silicate mineral, to make the sodium silicate “Glued” joint opaque.

Sodium silicate is suspended in the coolant until it reaches the cylinder head. At 100-105 °C, sodium silicate loses water molecules to form a glass seal with a remelt temperature above 810 °C. A sodium silicate repair can last two years or longer.

Sodium silicate is used as a deflocculant in casting slips helping reduce viscosity and the need for large amounts of water to liquidize the clay body.

Figure 1: Chemical Structure of Sodium Silicate Specific Uses of the Substance: Sodium silicate and other soluble silicates have been used in many industries since the early 19 th century.

Odorless Amorphous silicates such as sodium silicate do not have melting points, but rather flow points due to their glass state.

Amorphous silica obtained by precipitation from the neutralization of alkaline sodium silica solutions is soluble in water at 115 mg/l at 25 °C. Aqueous sodium silicate solutions have a pH-dependent polymerization/hydrolysis equilibrium of oligomeric silicate ions, monomeric aqueous silicon dioxide, and polysilicate ions.

Sodium silicate can also be generated from a hydrothermal production process in which silicate solutions are obtained by fusing sand and potassium or sodium hydroxide under 20 bar pressure in an autoclave heated to 200 °C. Evaluation Question #3: Is the substance synthetic? Discuss whether the petitioned substance is formulated or manufactured by a chemical process, or created by naturally occurring biological processes.

As discussed in Evaluation Question #2, the production processes for lump glass and sodium silicate both require high temperatures and sometimes high pressures to convert quartz sand and soda or potash to soluble silicates.

Workers handling sodium silicate for fiber processing may encounter strong acids such as hydrogen peroxide, which are later mixed with the sodium silicate.

Ingested sodium silicate is partially absorbed and excreted via the urine, and chronic oral exposures to sodium silicate may cause the buildup of urinary calculi.

The importance of corporate communication means that it calls for a high level of skill.

According to Anders Gronstedt, a communication consultant, corporate communication ‘inserts the various communication disciplines into a holistic perspective, drawing from the concepts, methodologies, crafts, experiences, and artistries of marketing communication and public relations’.

The consolidation of communication disciplines into one or a few departments enabled organizations to provide strategic direction to all of their communication with different stakeholder groups and to guide communication efforts from the strategic interests of the organization as a whole.

Some communication disciplines might still be organized as separate units or devolved to other functional areas, but the general idea here is to consolidate most communication disciplines into a single department so that communication can be strategically managed from a central corporate perspective.

Generally, communication councils support coordination by providing opportunities for communicators worldwide to develop personal relationships, to coordinate communication projects, to share best practices, to learn from each other’s mistakes, to learn about the company, to provide professional training, to improve the status of communication in the company, and to make communication professionals more committed to the organization as a whole.

Central processes in corporate communication, such as media relations, employee communication, editorial calendar management, crisis communication and speeches management, have also been documented and standardized.

Charbroiler

A charbroiler is a commonly used cooking device consisting of a series of grates or ribs that can be heated using a variety of means, and is used in both residential and commercial applications for a variety of cooking operations.

Certain commercial charbroiler products are designed to cook using only infrared energy, with a wide range of benefits to the charbroiled cooking process.

Typical charbroiler construction involves each of the three primary characteristics of a commercial charbroiler and can have a range of aspects that affect the performance of the overall unit.

The design of any charbroiler follows the same basic functional requirements: large, flat, heated ribbed surface on which to cook food with dry heat.

Charbroiler grilling is defined as “The process used when an item is cooked on a grated surface to sear in the flavors and impart a degree of charring which gives the product a light charcoal smoke flavor.” Charbroiling will expose food to temperatures often in excess of 260 °C. Grilled meat acquires a distinctive roast aroma from a chemical process called the Maillard reaction.

The Maillard reaction only occurs when foods reach temperatures in excess of 155 °C. Charbroiling most food products, especially animal-based proteins such as meat, will release greases and oils that will vaporize and incinerate upon contact with the extremely hot surfaces of a charbroiler.

Grates are responsible for the distinctive sear marks characteristic of charbroiled foods, and these markings are often key to the image of the restaurant using the charbroiler – markings that are thin, thick and/or cross-branded often distinguish a finished product to the consumer.

Tapioca Pearls Recipe

Tapioca pearls are chewy spheres of boiled root starch traditionally eaten with a bit of sugar water, but more commonly now served in a tall glass of icy milk tea.

The word tapioca refers to roots of the cassava plant, but these pearls are more often than not a combination of sweet potato starch, cassava starch, sugar and a bit of corn starch.

Old-school tapioca pearls are clear, translucent and come in small, teardrop-like sizes.

“Every factory makes different size tapioca pearls,” noted Chiu Si-Chuan, owner of A Chuan Homemade Tapioca, a dessert shop in southern Taiwan that makes tapioca pearls from scratch.

Cooked tapioca pearls have a short shelf life of only a day or two.

The most popular way to use tapioca pearls is to serve them in a sweet beverage, like green tea or milk tea.

Smaller tapioca pearls are better for desserts because they don’t interfere too much with the texture of the dish.

When the dough is ready, line a sheet with parchment paper and cover the dough with a damp towel so it won’t dry out while you’re working.

Roll of the dough into a wide rope, then repeat this step with the other of the dough.

What Are Pellets?

There are approximately 1,000,000 homes in the U.S. using wood pellets for heat, in freestanding stoves, fireplace inserts, furnaces, and boilers.

North American pellets are produced in manufacturing facilities in Canada and the United States and are available for purchase at fireplace dealers, nurseries, building supply stores, feed and garden supply stores, and some discount merchandisers.

Cordwood, wood pellets, wood chips, waste paper, along with dozens of other agricultural products and by-products capable of being used for energy, are all examples of biomass fuel.

By engineering crops and waste such as cornstalks, straw, and residual forest waste, pellets can utilize millions of tons of waste and put them to work.

Many pellet manufacturers take by-products and refine them into pencil-sized pellets that are uniform in size, shape, moisture, density and energy content.

Why not simply burn raw biomass? First, the moisture content of pellets is substantially lower.

Third, pellets are more easily and predictably handled.

Pellet Fuel

Wood pellets are the most common type of pellet fuel and are generally made from compacted sawdust and related industrial wastes from the milling of lumber, manufacture of wood products and furniture, and construction.

There are three general types of pellet heating appliances: free standing pellet stoves, pellet stove inserts and pellet boilers.

High-efficiency wood pellet stoves and boilers have been developed in recent years, typically offering combustion efficiencies of over 85%. The newest generation of wood pellet boilers can work in condensing mode and therefore achieve 12% higher efficiency values.

Current pellet production is increasing and there are plans to bring several new pellet mills online in the US in 2008-2009.

Per the New Hampshire Office of Energy and Planning release on Fuel Prices updated on 5 Oct 2015, the cost of #2 fuel oil delivered can be compared to the cost of Bulk Delivered Wood Fuel Pellets using their BTU equivalent: 1 ton pellets = 118.97 gallon of #2 Fuel Oil.

Now a report released at South By Southwest ranking the 15 best accelerators in the U.S. has made that decision a little easier.

According to the 2013 Rankings of Top U.S. Seed Accelerators, Y Combinator is the best accelerator in the country, based on several metrics.

“The goal of the seed accelerator rankings project is to start a larger conversation about the accelerator phenomenon, its effects, and its prospects for the future,” Hochberg said during her presentation at South By Southwest, TechCrunch reports.

Based on their research and data from CrunchBase, Hochberg and Cohen ranked the accelerators based on the valuations their portfolio companies achieved in the years after graduation; the number of exits an accelerator has had; whether or not startups received additional financing rounds after the programs; the percentage of startups still up and running; how venture capitalists feel about the programs; and how the entrepreneurs in the programs feel about their experience.

The good news is that 90 percent of entrepreneurs surveyed said they would do it over again, and 95 percent said the accelerator they attended was worth the equity stake they gave up, TechCrunch reports.

Here are the 15 best startup accelerators in the U.S., according to the researchers.

Startup Accelerator

Accelerators generally consider that one person is insufficient to handle all the work associated with a startup.

Accelerators provide enough funding to get a company to ‘Demo Day,’ from which point the startup is on its own.

The first seed accelerator was Y Combinator, started in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 2005, and then later moved to Silicon Valley by Paul Graham.

In Europe, the first accelerator program was started by Accelerace in 2009 in Denmark followed shortly after by Startup Wise Guys in 2012 in Estonia.

With the growing popularity of seed accelerator programs in the US, Europe has seen an increase in accelerators to support a growing startup ecosystem.

Forbes published an analysis of startup accelerators in April 2012.

Since 2010 there has been a substantial growth of Corporate Accelerator programs, which are sponsored by established organizations but follow similar principles.

After about an eight-month pause, Applied Underwriters has good news: It plans to restart construction of its roughly $200 million operations hub at the west Omaha Heartwood Preserve.

The national workers’ compensation insurer last September suspended construction of the anchor project, in part to “Protect” workers and suppliers during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Company spokesman Bart Emanuel said this past week that, after observing federal pandemic guidelines and increased vaccinations, Applied is comfortable with resuming work at the 50-acre office campus southwest of 144th and Pacific Streets.

In addition to building its new operations center at that spot, Applied is developer and owner of the overall Heartwood Preserve redevelopment area that spans some 500 acres.

Originally, Emanuel predicted construction to stall for three to six months.

Steve Menzies, chairman of Applied Underwriters, said in a statement that the national workers compensation insurer had been eager to finish the new complex, but “Sided with precaution and used careful risk management and protocols.” . ‘Blunts in the bathrooms, skipping all the time’: OPS students, staff confirm rising misbehavior.

WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar Leaves The Company: ‘I Wish I Had More Time’

Sounding a bittersweet note, Jason Kilar announced that he is leaving WarnerMedia, the company he dramatically reshaped during his nearly two-year run, as Discovery prepares to assume control of the entertainment behemoth.

“I wish I had more time,” Kilar told the Los Angeles Times on Tuesday.

John Stankey, CEO of corporate parent AT&T, had recruited Kilar to be WarnerMedia’s chief in May 2020.

Kilar – whose total compensation topped $52 million in 2020 – spent much of his two-year tenure refocusing the company around its streaming services, including HBO Max and CNN+. After a rocky start, HBO Max has become one of Hollywood’s most popular streaming services.

Kilar forged ahead. “CNN+ is the future of CNN,” Kilar said.

Kilar joined WarnerMedia in the early weeks of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Despite the impending acquisition by Discovery, Kilar continued his mission to reshape the company.

Jason Kilar

Kilar also attended Harvard Business School, entering in the fall of 1995.

In his second year at Harvard Business School, Kilar took a class called “Managing in the Marketspace”, taught by Jeffrey Rayport.

He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1993 and continued his education at Harvard Business School, earning an MBA. Kilar served as an executive for Amazon from 1997 to 2006, including as the senior vice president of its worldwide application software division.

The next month, Kilar joined the board of directors for DreamWorks Animation.

On April 1, 2020, WarnerMedia then-CEO John Stankey announced that Kilar would be assuming the role effective May 1, 2020.

In March 2021, Kilar drew more ire by claiming that COVID-19 is “Really good for ratings” in conversation with Fox Corporation’s Lachlan Murdoch.

Kilar announced on April 5, 2022 that he would be stepping down as the WarnerMedia CEO in face of the soon-to-be-completed merger of WarnerMedia and Discovery, Inc..

WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar To Exit Following CNN Dustup Over Zucker’S Ouster

WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar said he is leaving the company when the AT&T entertainment unit’s merger with Discovery closes on Friday – just weeks after he faced a backlash over the ouster of CNN boss Jeff Zucker.

Kilar has been a lightning rod figure in Hollywood, implementing a plan during the pandemic to release the company’s entire 2021 slate of Warner Bros.

Kilar made the decision to push out Zucker for failing to disclose a personal relationship with CNN marketing and communications chief Allison Gollust, who also subsequently resigned.

Kilar was grilled over the decision by CNN staffers at town hall-style meetings.

The announcement marks Kilar’s formalization of the plan as Discovery CEO David Zaslav prepares to helm the combined company, dubbed Warner Bros.

The changes have resulted in HBO and HBO Max nabbing nearly 74 million subscribers, up from 20 million before Kilar grabbed the reins in 2020.

“With the pending transaction with Discovery nearing close, now is the right time to share with each of you that I will be departing this amazing company,” Kilar said in a memo sent to WarnerMedia staff.

WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar To Depart With Discovery Merger

WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar is set to depart from the company after the Discovery merger.

Luckily, Kilar’s successor will have the entire stable of content at WarnerMedia in tow for whatever comes next.

Kilar said, “With the pending transaction with Discovery nearing close, now is the right time to share with each of you that I will be departing this amazing company.”

“The only thing I can promise you is change. There is no doubt that change is coming, and that’s appropriate because we live in a dynamic time,” Kilar explained.

When asked what his proudest contribution to WarnerMedia was, Kilar responded with some thoughts about the role of a legacy company in such a new landscape.

“Focus on the customer. The 99-year history of the company has been largely one of being a wholesaler,” he opined.

“We create motion pictures, TV series, documentaries, and sometimes TV channels, but then we hand those things over to other companies and they interact with the customer, the audience, the fan. And over the last two years, it has been a dramatic change in the company and the strategy and even the culture, to be very focused on the customer and to ultimately serve them directly.”

WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar Announces Exit As Discovery Deal Nears Close

In a memo shared with staff today and obtained by The Verge, Kilar said that his exit will correspond with the pending merger between WarnerMedia and Discovery.

Kilar wrote there were “Many feelings one could have in a moment like this, but for me there are none bigger, or more lasting, than the feelings of gratitude and love that I have for this team, this company, and this mission.” The news was earlier reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

“I’ve never been more fulfilled professionally. I’ve never been happier professionally. This team – and what we’ve built together – are the reasons for that,” Kilar wrote.

“Leading this team has been the honor of my lifetime,” Kilar said.

“My heart is so full, and I am beyond thankful to each of you. There is no better team on the planet, and I will savor every last step as I wander the lot in Burbank several more times this week, with this team on my mind, always.”

The joys are many, especially the walk-and-talks that I’ve had with a great many WarnerMedia team members, diving deeply into the matters at hand, whether on the storied lot in Burbank, along The High Line at Hudson Yards, in and around Techwood and CNN Center, inside our archives, across the expansive lot at Leavesden, at any of our game studio locations, or the many other locations where this team quite literally changes the world.

When my wife Jamie and I were thinking about what we could do on our own to adequately express our appreciation to each of you, we came up with the idea to create a series of artifacts featuring some of the photos I’ve taken to celebrate this team and WarnerMedia.

WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar will be stepping down from his role as the company’s merger with Discovery nears its close.

David Zaslav, the chief executive of Discovery, will take over the combined company once the merger is finalized.

There are many feelings one could have in a moment like this, but for me there are none bigger, or more lasting, than the feelings of gratitude and love that I have for this team, this company, and this mission.

We’re operating as one team, proudly and successfully going direct to consumers across the globe.

April 5, 2022.Updated 4:42 p.m. ET.Jason Kilar, the head of WarnerMedia, who came aboard with ambitious plans for the company’s stand-alone streaming service and wound up serving half his tenure effectively as a lame duck, announced on Tuesday that he was leaving the company.

With the pandemic raging, Mr. Kilar announced in a December 2020 post on Medium that the Warner Bros.

Mr. Stankey kept Mr. Kilar in the dark about the deal until days before it was announced in May. Mr. Zaslav will take over the combined Warner Bros.

Mr. Kilar offered few details and no alternative explanation, leaving much of CNN’s staff angry.

KYC: What It Means & Why It’S Important

KYC is mandated for some organizations – primarily financial institutions – but for other businesses that voluntarily implement KYC procedures, it’s an important signal that the business is trustworthy and cares about protecting its customers.

One cornerstone of a strong KYC compliance program is conducting comprehensive customer due diligence for all customers.

A second component of KYC compliance is the establishment of a Customer Identification Program as a part of the onboarding process to “Form a reasonable belief that knows the true identity of each customer.” In other words, a financial institution must verify the identity of every individual or business customer who wants to open an account.

Emerging technologies for online identity verification are critical because KYC adds friction to the onboarding process as customers go through the necessary identity verification steps.

KYC processes require financial services companies to verify the identities of their customers, understand the nature of their transactions and assess their risk for money laundering or other financial crimes.

Institutions, on the other hand, have to manage the realities of complying with KYC regulations, which can mean sending new customers out of their preferred channel for identity verification or making customers wait for days or weeks as their identities are verified.

These competing demands have created a clear need for KYC technologies that can transform an organization’s manual KYC and customer onboarding processes into a streamlined online approach.

Overview, Importance And Benefits, Process

The Know Your Client or Know Your Customer is a process to verify the identity and other credentials of a financial services user.

KYC is a regulatory process of ascertaining the identity and other information of a financial services user.

A number of countries and economic regions oversee financial anti-money laundering agencies or regulators that overview financial transactions to prevent tax evasion, terrorism financing, and other anti-social activities.

The process may be simple for the user, but the financial institution’s verification process needs dedication and diligence.

The KYC process is an integral part of various Due Diligence.

Due diligence is a process of verification, investigation, or audit of a potential deal or investment opportunity to confirm all relevant facts and financial information, checks made by companies, investors, banks, etc.

As a result, the KYC process is usually contracted out to agencies that specialize in them.

Oversight bodies across the globe have begun using mandates to bring digital identity verification and Know Your Customer to the forefront of the minds of businesses.

What Is Vulnerability Management?

It provides basic information about each vulnerability and is automatically synced with NVD. What is the difference between Vulnerability Management and a Vulnerability Assessment.

Vulnerability management is different from vulnerability assessment.

Vulnerability management is an ongoing process, while a vulnerability assessment is a one-time evaluation of a host or network.

Vulnerability assessment is part of the vulnerability management process, but not vice versa.

There are several stages in the vulnerability management process that vulnerability management programs should adhere to.

Although vulnerability management involves more than simply running a scanning tool, a high-quality vulnerability tool or toolset can dramatically improve the implementation and ongoing success of a vulnerability management program.

If a vulnerability management tool fails to detect vulnerabilities in a timely manner, then the tool isn’t very useful and doesn’t contribute to overall protection.

Vulnerability Management: What Is It? Process, Best Practices Explained

To proactively address vulnerabilities before they are utilized for a cyberattack, organizations serious about the security of their environment perform vulnerability management to provide the highest levels of security posture possible.

Vulnerability management is generally defined as the process of identifying, categorizing, prioritizing, and resolving vulnerabilities in operating systems, enterprise applications, browsers, and end-user applications.

An ongoing process, vulnerability management seeks to continually identify vulnerabilities that can be remediated through patching and configuration of security settings.

While security vendors can choose to build their own vulnerability definitions, vulnerability management is commonly seen as being an open, standards-based effort using the security content automation protocol standard developed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

Strong vulnerability management programs see each process as a continual lifecycle designed to help improve security and reduce organizational risk found in the network environment.

Many commercial solutions exist to simplify and automate the process of vulnerability management.

Some focus solely on vulnerability assessment, some perform vulnerability scanning only, while still others look to provide comprehensive coverage of the entire vulnerability management process.

Georgia Institute Of Technology

Vulnerability Management is a security practice designed to proactively prevent the exploitation of IT vulnerabilities that exist within an organization.

Proactively managing vulnerabilities of systems will reduce or eliminate the potential for exploitation and involve considerably less time and effort than responding to an incident after an exploitation has occurred.

Vulnerabilities are software flaws or misconfigurations that cause a weakness in the security of a system.

The role of Georgia Tech Cyber Security is to monitor for high severity vulnerabilities and threats, as well as communicate relevant remediation information to system administrators.

The system we use categorizes vulnerabilities into different levels of severity, with 4 being the lowest and 1 being the highest.

While severity 3, 2, and 1 vulnerabilities are often due to actual exploitable code present in software, most of the severity 4 vulnerabilities are informational or due to misconfiguration of systems, servers, and firewalls.

Vulnerability management will be maintained for critical incidents, such as a high-profile vulnerability that should be patched outside of normal process due to the high severity and likelihood of rapid development of exploits.

What is the difference between Vulnerability Management and Vulnerability Assessment?

Generally, a Vulnerability Assessment is a portion of the complete Vulnerability Management system.

Organizations will likely run multiple Vulnerability Assessments to get more information on their Vulnerability Management action plan.

Properly configuring vulnerability scans is an essential component of a vulnerability management solution.

Endpoint agents allow vulnerability management solutions to continuously gather vulnerability data from systems without performing network scans.

Vulnerability management solutions will provide different risk ratings and scores for vulnerabilities, such as Common Vulnerability Scoring System scores.

Vulnerability management solutions typically have different options for exporting and visualizing vulnerability scan data with a variety of customizable reports and dashboards.

Threat And Vulnerability Management

Threat and vulnerability management serves as an infrastructure for reducing organizational exposure, hardening endpoint surface area, and increasing organizational resilience.

Threat and vulnerability management is built in, real time, and cloud powered.

Threat and vulnerability management helps customers prioritize and focus on the weaknesses that pose the most urgent and the highest risk to the organization.

Threat and vulnerability management focuses on vulnerabilities currently being exploited in the wild and emerging threats that pose the highest risk.

Pinpointing active breaches – Correlates threat and vulnerability management and EDR insights to prioritize vulnerabilities being exploited in an active breach within the organization.

Threat and vulnerability management allows security administrators and IT administrators to collaborate seamlessly to remediate issues.

Run threat and vulnerability management-related API calls to automate vulnerability management workflows.

Vulnerability management tools most commonly scan an organization’s network for known weaknesses or exploitable characteristics that make the network vulnerable to attack.

The tool then notifies IT administrators so they can remedy the vulnerability.

Consider whether each tool is a point solution or part of a larger security package, frequency of scans, vulnerability detection rates, and pricing.

Vulnerability management tools preemptively reduce the risk of organizations’ networks being compromised and mitigate the damage when intrusions do occur.

Pricing varies by the scope of assets and networks being assessed.

There are also a range of free products and free versions available.

Vulnerability Management

Vulnerability management is the “Cyclical practice of identifying, classifying, prioritizing, remediating, and mitigating” software vulnerabilities.

Vulnerability management is integral to computer security and network security, and must not be confused with vulnerability assessment.

Vulnerabilities can be discovered with a vulnerability scanner, which analyzes a computer system in search of known vulnerabilities, such as open ports, insecure software configurations, and susceptibility to malware infections.

They may also be identified by consulting public sources, such as NVD, or subscribing to a commercial vulnerability alerting service such as Symantec’s DeepSight Vulnerability Datafeed or Accenture’s Vulnerability Intelligence Service.

Project vulnerability is the project’s susceptibility to being subject to negative events, the analysis of their impact, and the project’s capability to cope with negative events.

Vulnerability controlling – which includes implementation, monitoring, control, and lessons learned.

Redundancy is a specific method to increase resistance and resilience in vulnerability management.

Symptoms And Causes

Presbyopia is the gradual loss of your eyes’ ability to focus on nearby objects.

See an eye doctor if blurry close-up vision is keeping you from reading, doing close-up work or enjoying other normal activities.

Have a sudden loss of vision in one eye with or without eye pain.

To form an image, your eye relies on the cornea and the lens to focus the light reflected from objects.

The cornea is the clear, dome-shaped front surface of your eye.

Both of these structures bend light entering your eye to focus the image on the retina, located on the inside back wall of your eye.

Presbyopia is caused by a hardening of the lens of your eye, which occurs with aging.

As your presbyopia gets worse, you’ll probably need glasses or contact lenses to help you read. Some people use over-the-counter reading glasses – or your eye doctor can prescribe lenses to help you see as clearly as possible.

Presbyopia

Presbyopia is physiological insufficiency of accommodation associated with the aging of the eye that results in progressively worsening ability to focus clearly on close objects.

Presbyopia can be corrected using glasses, contact lenses, multifocal intraocular lenses, or LASIK surgery.

Glasses used to correct presbyopia may be simple reading glasses, bifocals, trifocals, or progressive lens.

People with presbyopia require a convex lens for reading glasses; specialized preparations of convex lenses usually require the services of an optometrist.

Concerns with refractive surgeries for presbyopia include people’s eyes changing with time also.

A number of studies have claimed improvements in near visual acuity by the use of training protocols based on perceptual learning and requiring the detection of briefly presented low-contrast Gabor stimuli; study participants suffering from presbyopia were enabled to read smaller font sizes and to increase their reading speed.

Presbyopia: Symptoms, Diagnosis, And Treatment

Sometime in your 40s, it gets harder to see close up, but you can see things far away just fine.

Presbyopia is often confused with farsightedness, but the two are different.

Presbyopia happens when the natural lens in the eye gets less flexible.

Farsightedness is from a misshaped eyeball that causes light rays to focus incorrectly once they have entered the eye.

Neiman Marcus Group, Inc., originally Neiman-Marcus, is an American chain of luxury department stores owned by the Neiman Marcus Group, headquartered in Dallas, Texas.

The company also owns the Bergdorf Goodman department stores and operates a direct marketing division, Neiman Marcus Direct, which operates catalog and online operations under the Horchow, Neiman Marcus, and Bergdorf Goodman names.

Herbert Marcus Sr., a former buyer with Dallas’ Sanger Brothers department store, had left his previous job to found a new business with his sister Carrie Marcus Neiman and her husband, A.L. Neiman, then employees of Sanger Brothers competitor A. Harris and Co. In 1907 the trio had $25,000 from the successful sales-promotion firm they had built in Atlanta, Georgia, and two potential investments of funds.

Herbert Marcus Sr. died in 1950, and Carrie Neiman died two years later, leaving Stanley Marcus in charge of the company’s operations.

Neiman Marcus Direct conducts both print catalog and online operations under the Neiman Marcus, Horchow and Bergdorf Goodman brand names.

Under the Neiman Marcus brand, Neiman Marcus Direct primarily offers women’s apparel, accessories and home furnishings.

Neiman Marcus Lands $200M Investment From Farfetch

UK luxury e-tailer Farfetch is investing $200 million in Neiman Marcus to drive the swanky department store’s digital growth, the companies announced on Tuesday.

Sources told The Post that Neiman Marcus has recently explored a sale of Bergdorf Goodman.

Neiman Marcus denied that it was exploring a sale of the posh retailer.

The companies said that Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman will join Farfetch’s online marketplace, adding “Participating brands” in global markets where Farfetch does business.

Neiman Marcus chief executive, Geoffroy Van Raemdonck said in a statement, “José and the entire Farfetch team have built a best-in-class technology platform and are the ideal partner to help us grow Bergdorf Goodman to be an even stronger global digital luxury retailer.”

Some Neiman Marcus staffers and industry experts believe the investment will lay the groundwork for Farfetch to eventually acquire Neiman Marcus Group from its current investors, Pimco, Davidson Kempner Capital Management and Sixth Street.

Farfetch and Neiman Marcus executives said on Tuesday that they will work together to improve Bergdorf Goodman’s U.S. website and launch its first international websites in 2023.

Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus products will also be available on Farfetch’s website, which sells to customers in more than 190 countries.

Van Raemdonck said the company considered going international on its own, but ultimately decided to partner with Farfetch because it offered speed and efficiency.

“We’re growing at an accelerated rate compared to pre-Covid and at a higher profitability rate.” The deal with Farfetch will further speed up growth, he added.

Sono Motors Signs Up New Partner For Solar Car

BERLIN – Germany’s Sono Motors has signed up a new partner for its partly solar-powered cars and is sticking to its goal of commercial production in 2023, after abandoning talks with the electric carmaking arm of indebted Chinese property developer Evergrande.

Sono said on Tuesday it would produce its first vehicles in Finland with supplier Valmet Automotive, rather than in Sweden as originally envisaged.

The company had said in 2019 its production partner would be National Electric Vehicle Sweden, the Swedish electric vehicle unit of Evergrande Group, but a binding agreement was not signed.

Founded in 2016 in Munich, is developing a fully-electric vehicle with solar cells integrated into the body, boosting the car’s range by an average of 112 kilometres per week beyond the 305-kilometre range of its battery.

Which began trading on the NASDAQ in November to try to attract early-stage investors after finding itself on the brink of insolvency, is currently working to validate its mass production plans with vehicles being built in Germany.

It expects to produce a low four-digit volume of cars in its first year, with a view to ramping up to 43,000 a year, it said.

The net price of Sono’s vehicle, currently 23,950 euros, will rise to 25,126 euros once the company hits 18,500 reservations from the around 17,000 registered so far, it said, citing rising manufacturing costs.

Sono Motors Pilots Solar Bus Trailer In Munich

The novel solar bus trailer has been put into pilot operation in the Munich metropolitan area.

Sono Motors says that its solar bus trailer can achieve savings of up to 2,500 litres of diesel per year and an annual local CO2 saving potential of more than 6.5 metric tonnes per bus.

Veit Bodenschatz, Managing Director and Head of Bus Division of the MVG, commented: “The photovoltaic system on our bus trailer now allows us to test under real conditions how well the power generation works and whether there are perhaps routes in our network that are better suited than others for this type of power generation” He noted that “The question of what energy savings can be achieved by using solar energy are, of course, particularly exciting against the background of current fuel and energy prices.”

The customised solar bus trailer concept was developed with the Munich public transport provider MVG to make the best possible use of space and efficiency.

“This is a milestone in Sono Motors’ mission to make every vehicle solar”, says Laurin Hahn, Sono Motors co-founder and CEO. “City buses and coaches, whether electric or diesel-powered, offer a lot of space and are out on the road every day. The first solar bus trailer for MVG will hit the streets of Munich in the future and allow MVG passengers to experience solar mobility in daily use,” Hahn continues.

Besides the Sono Motors electric, solar car, the Sion, the Munich based EV startup has been able to collaborate with different vehicle manufacturers to incorporate their solar technology on all kinds of different vehicles.

Called the Sono Solar, Sono Motors’ complete solution includes a customised concept with solar modules, power electronics, telematics and data, mechanical and electrical integration, as well as after-sales and service.

In October 2018, Sono Motors raised new equity and debt capital in another financing round.

On December 1, 2019, the founders of Sono Motors stated that they had not been able to obtain the necessary funds through the usual financing route.
