Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered that natural gas, exported mostly to Europe, be paid for in roubles instead of foreign currency following sweeping Western sanctions over Ukraine.
Including the speaker of the lower house of parliament Vyacheslav Volodin, suggested Russia should sell oil, grain, metals, fertiliser, coal and timber for roubles on global markets where it is profitable.
“For decades we’ve been fighting for export markets… We’ve been developing relations with thousands of clients in 70 countries. It’s hard to imagine what would convince our buyers to switch to settlements in roubles and incur currency risks,” Lisin told the newspaper.
“Logistics problems have already complicated delivery of goods. Switching to payments in roubles will just throw us out of international markets.”

The decree authorises state-controlled Gazprombank to open foreign currency and rouble accounts for gas purchases.
European buyers can still buy gas in foreign currencies, but will have to authorise Gazprombank to make the conversion into roubles.

Approximately 100,000 pounds of acetic acid was released during a maintenance event.

Two people are confirmed dead and 30 were hospitalized in what La Porte officials called a “Mass casualty” incident at a LyondellBasell chemical plant Tuesday night in unincorporated Harris County.
The La Porte Office of Emergency management confirmed LyondellBasell requested support around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday for an acetic acid leak at the company’s 1515 Miller Cut Off Road facility, near the city.
The company had previously reported four people transported for burn treatment in addition to the two dead. Christensen said that the cause of the incident – which she called a “Chemical type explosion” release inside the plant – is still under investigation.
Harris County Fire Marshal Laurie Christensen identified the chemicals as methyl iodide, hydrogen iodide, and methyl acetate – a chemical acid used in food-grade vinegar that can cause severe burn, and is harmful if swallowed, toxic if inhaled, and harmful to the skin, she said.
Heartbroken to hear of the two fatalities at the Lyondell Basell facility in La Porte.
The incident comes less than a week after a leak at the Dow Chemical Co. Bayshore plant in La Porte that lasted more than a day.

The Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency is a federal security agency of the United States Department of Defense.
Within areas of DoD responsibility, DCSA is tasked with conducting personnel security investigations, supervising industrial security, and performing security education and awareness training.
The Director of DCSA reports to the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence.
DCSA provides the uniformed US military services, Department of Defense Agencies, 33 other federal agencies, and approximately 10,000 cleared contractor facilities with security support services.

What Is A Cartesian Robot?
We’ve written several articles on this site about Cartesian robots, but let’s take a step back and define exactly what makes a robot a Cartesian robot, as opposed to another type of robot or multi-axis system.
What makes a Cartesian robot a robot is that the axes perform coordinated motion, through a common motion controller.
The axes of a Cartesian robot are made from some form of linear actuator – either purchased as a pre-assembled system from a manufacturer or custom-built by the OEM or end user from linear guide and drive components.
Not every linear system that works in the X-Y, or X-Y-Z axes is a Cartesian robot.
The primary difference between gantry and Cartesian robots is that a Cartesian robot uses one linear actuator on each axis, whereas a gantry robot is always constructed with two base axes, with the second axis spanning them.
Cartesian robots overlap SCARA and 6-axis robots in some technical specifications and can be applied in some of the same applications, but Cartesian robots have several benefits over SCARA and 6-axis types.
In the recent past, pre-assembled Cartesian robots were rare, with most units being custom-built by an OEM, a robot integrator, or even the end user.

The Cartesian coordinate robot is also referred to as rectilinear robot or X-Y-Z robot of the spherical configuration because it is equipped with three sliding joints for assembling XYZ axes.
The Cartesian coordinate robot arm and body configuration is shown in Fig.
The arm movement of a robot using the Cartesian configuration can be described by three intersecting perpendicular straight lines, referred to as the X, Y and Z axes.

At least one of the linear stages of cantilevered Cartesian coordinate robots is supported at only one end.
