Tax-Free Savings Accounts And Other Places To Save Tax-Free
A few types of savings accounts and other financial instruments are exceptions to this rule and might be worth considering if you are seeking ways to reduce your tax bill and stretch your savings.
There are two ways that savings accounts can reduce your tax bill.
Individual Retirement Accounts There are several types of individual retirement accounts that help you save on taxes in different ways.
Flexible spending accounts and health savings accounts are programs that help provide some tax relief while helping with healthcare expenses and, in the case of certain FSAs, childcare expenses, too.
Coverdell Education Savings Accounts Similar to a 529, a Coverdell education savings account is a trust or custodial account that can be used to pay for elementary, secondary, or post-secondary education expenses.
Savings in a 529 or Coverdell education savings account are withdrawn tax-free if they’re used for qualified education expenses.
Savings accounts are usually taxed on the interest they earn.
What Is A Tax-Free Savings Account?
A tax-free savings account is a plan or savings vehicle into which you can deposit money without paying taxes on it, or one in which your money can grow and earn interest tax-free-as long as you follow certain rules.
The concept behind tax-free savings accounts and accounts that offer tax advantages is that the government wants people to save for purposes that are considered to be for significant life purposes such as education, health expenses, and retirement.
Contributions might be deducted from your paycheck before taxes are calculated on the balance, or you might claim a tax deduction for the amount on your tax return.
You can claim a tax deduction for the money you save in an IRA, up to a certain limit each year, and your savings will grow tax-free while they remain in the account.
Coverdell Savings Accounts Savings contributed to this type of account can be withdrawn for elementary, secondary, or post-secondary education costs, but there’s a catch: You must name the student who’s eventually going to benefit from this account at the time you open it.
Archer Medical Savings Accounts This type of medical savings account is also dedicated to paying qualifying health expenses.
You also can’t claim an itemized tax deduction for medical expenses that were reimbursed by an FSA. You’ll pay income tax as well as a proportional distribution tax penalty on withdrawals from a Coverdell account if you use the money for anything other than qualifying education expenses.
The Tax-Free Savings Account
It is a way for individuals who are 18 and older and who have a valid social insurance number to set money aside tax-free.
Contributions to a TFSA are not deductible for income tax purposes.
Any amount contributed as well as any income earned in the account is generally tax-free, even when it is withdrawn.
Administrative or other fees in relation to TFSA and any interest or money borrowed to contribute to a TFSA are not tax deductible.
Tax-Free Savings Account
Save for new furniture, your emergency fund, retirement and more with an RBC TFSA. Invest in a TFSA What is a TFSA?
A Tax-Free Savings Account is a powerful registered investment accountyou can use to save for any big-ticket item or goal – tax free.
Assumes tax rate of 32% outside of TFSA, with interest income taxed annually.
If you wish to transfer your current RBC TFSA to a financial institution outside RBC, a $50.00 fee will apply.
If you over-contribute to your TFSA, you may have to pay a penalty tax.
4). Assets in a TFSA must be Qualified Investments under the Income Tax Act.
If the TFSA holds non-Qualified Investments, it could be subject to tax.
Understanding Tax On Savings Account
Here’s what to know about interest tax on savings accounts.
Even if you don’t receive a 1099-INT, you’re still on the hook for taxes on savings account earnings.
Flexible spending accounts and health savings accounts also offer interest tax savings.
Coverdale Education Savings Accounts are another option, though they act more as a trust or custodial account.
While regular savings accounts generally earn taxable income, specially designated accounts may let you save tax on savings accounts.
You pay taxes on the interest earned in your savings account at your regular income tax bracket.
Every dollar you earn in a regular savings account is taxable in your regular income tax bracket.
Did we mention the low fees and friendly financial advice? Let’s go!Advantages of a TFSA. A TFSA is what’s often referred to as a “Tax-advantaged account,” meaning the government provides tax breaks.
TFSA Investment Options and Strategy will offer some specific tips on TFSAs, while How To Buy Stocks, Beginners Guide will provide invaluable step-by-step advice on stock market investments, which will likely be a big part of where your TFSA dollars go.
Michael Craig, Portfolio Manager at Wealthsimple points out-if you’re already benefiting from the tax advantages that come with an RRSP then you should also take advantage of a TFSA. “If you’re already contributing to an RRSP each year and receiving a healthy tax refund you may want to consider contributing to a TFSA too.”
How to open a TFSA. Any Canadian who is 18 years of age or older with a valid social insurance number can open a TFSA. All you need to is reach out to a financial institution, credit union or insurance company who offers TFSAs and provide your SIN and date of birth.
The benefit of a TFSA is not that you can deduct contributions in your tax return but rather that the earnings in your TFSA can grow tax free.
Keep in mind that any investment losses within a TFSA are not considered a withdrawal and therefore are not part of your TFSA contribution room.
You are able to designate beneficiaries and successor holders to your TFSA. Can TFSAs be used as collateral as a loan?
TFSA Vs. Savings Account: What’S The Difference?
The Tax-Free Savings Account is more than just a savings account, even though many Canadians tend to use it as such.
Savings accounts at a bank are generally insured by the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation, while those offered by credit unions are insured by provincial deposit guarantee corporations e.g. DGCM. Pros and Cons of a Savings Account.
Regular Savings Account: This is the traditional savings account that is often automatically opened for customers alongside a chequing account at a bank.
High Interest Savings Account: This account pays a higher interest than a traditional savings account.
Hybrid Savings Account: These accounts combine chequing and savings account features.
Joint Savings Accounts: A joint account allows couples or friends to save together in one account.
TFSA vs Savings FAQs What is the best bank for a TFSA? Many of the best TFSA interest rates are offered by digital banks such as EQ Bank, Motive Financial, and the online banking arms of credit unions.

Department Of Energy
Hydrogen is the simplest element on earth-it consists of only one proton and one electron-and it is an energy carrier, not an energy source.
Hydrogen can store and deliver usable energy, but it doesn’t typically exist by itself in nature and must be produced from compounds that contain it.
With approximately 10 million metric tons hydrogen currently produced in the United States each year, the primary demand for hydrogen today is for petroleum refining and ammonia production.
Hydrogen can be used across multiple sectors to enable zero or near-zero emissions in other chemical and industrial processes, integrated clean energy systems, and transportation.
Hydrogen can be produced through low-carbon pathways using diverse, domestic resources-including fossil fuels, such as natural gas and coal, coupled with carbon capture and storage; through splitting of water using nuclear energy and renewable energy sources, such as wind, solar, geothermal, and hydro-electric power; and from biomass through biological processes.
The U.S. Department of Energy supports the research and development of a wide range of technologies to produce hydrogen economically and via net-zero-carbon pathways.
DOE’s Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technologies Office is focused on developing technologies that can produce hydrogen at $2/kg by 2025 and $1/kg by 2030 via net-zero-carbon pathways, in support of the Hydrogen Energy Earthshot goal of reducing the cost of clean hydrogen by 80% to $1 per 1 kilogram in 1 decade.
DOE Hydrogen Program
DOE’s H2A Analysis Group develops the building blocks and frameworks needed to conduct rigorous and consistent analyses of a wide range of hydrogen technologies.
Established in Fiscal Year 2003, H2A brings together the analysis expertise in the hydrogen community, drawing from industry, academia, and DOE’s national laboratories.
The DOE H2A Analysis website provides the latest information about program activities and links to the H2A production and delivery models and case studies.
Through the H2A effort, DOE has developed a standardized approach and set of assumptions for estimating the lifecycle costs of hydrogen production and delivery technologies.
These models automatically do a rigorous discounted cash flow analysis over the analysis time period based on the specified economic assumptions to calculate the cost of hydrogen produced over the analysis time with the after tax internal rate of return on capital investment.
Although feedstock properties can be different for the same feedstock from different production or consumption sites, it is intended here that national average properties be summarized for H2A. Data for the following feedstocks are provided on the H2A Physical Property Tab.
DOE funded the development of H2A Analysis tools in order to address the need for consistent and transparent hydrogen production and delivery analyses.
U.S. Energy Information Administration
There are many different sources of hydrogen and ways for producing it for use as a fuel.
If the electricity for electrolysis is produced from fossil fuel or biomass combustion, then the related environmental effects and CO2 emissions are indirectly associated with that hydrogen.
Using solar energy technologies to split hydrogen from water molecules.
Hydrogen producers, marketers, government agencies, and other organizations might categorize or define hydrogen according to the energy sources for its production, and they use a color code to categorize hydrogen.
Hydrogen produced using renewable energy might be referred to as renewable hydrogen or green hydrogen.
Hydrogen produced from coal may be called brown hydrogen, and hydrogen produced from natural gas or petroleum might be referred to as grey hydrogen.
Hydrogen produced with nuclear energy may be called pink hydrogen or clean hydrogen.
Hydrogen Production
Hydrogen production is the family of industrial methods for generating hydrogen gas.
The production of hydrogen plays a key role in any industrialized society, since hydrogen is required for many essential chemical processes.
There are four main sources for the commercial production of hydrogen: natural gas, oil, coal, and electrolysis; which account for 48%, 30%, 18% and 4% of the world’s hydrogen production respectively.
The Kværner process or Kvaerner carbon black & hydrogen process is a plasma reforming method, developed in the 1980s by a Norwegian company of the same name, for the production of hydrogen and carbon black from liquid hydrocarbons.
Theoretical efficiency for PEM electrolysers is predicted up to 94%. As of 2020, the cost of hydrogen by electrolysis is around $3-8/kg. Considering the industrial production of hydrogen, and using current best processes for water electrolysis which have an effective electrical efficiency of 70-82%, producing 1 kg of hydrogen requires 50-55 kWh of electricity.
At an electricity cost of $0.06/kWh, as set out in the Department of Energy hydrogen production targets for 2015, the hydrogen cost is $3/kg.
As of 2020, estimated costs of production are $1-1.80/kg for grey hydrogen and blue hydrogen, and $2.50-6.80 for green hydrogen.

While membrane systems can produce hydrogen with purities of 90%-98% v/v at high recovery but are best suited for high-pressure feedstocks since the separation of a gas mixture in these purification units is driven by pressure, an additional disadvantage is the fact that hydrogen sulfide may also pass through the membrane and into the hydrogen product.
Studied the potential of the mixed consortium on hydrogen production under variable temperatures range between 15 and 35°C. They found an increment in hydrogen yield and specific rate of hydrogen production with respect to temperature.
Operated a chemostat-type reactor to determine the suitable temperature for hydrogen production using mixed consortia in a range of 30-55°C. The highest H2 production was obtained at 45°C. Hydrogen production at different temperatures was correlated with the shift in the metabolic pathways and changes in the microbial community.
Its technology includes steam reforming to produce hydrogen, partial oxidation to produce hydrogen, and natural reforming to produce hydrogen, in addition to cracking hydrogen production, for which the current industry mainly employs steam reforming.
If the raw material methanol is produced from coal, methanol hydrogen production belongs to the coal indirect hydrogen production route.
The routes of methanol reforming hydrogen production technology include steam reforming hydrogen production, partial oxidation hydrogen production, autothermal reforming hydrogen production, and cracking hydrogen production.
The technical principles of hydrogen production from methanol are similar to hydrogen production from natural gas, but because the raw materials of hydrogen production change from gaseous to liquid, the process flow of the two is different.

MTY is a publicly traded franchising company of questionable stock value with more than 70 concepts.
Shortly afterward, MTY Chairman Stanley Ma dispatched CEO Eric Lefebvre and Audit Chairman, Gary O’Connor to cover-up the allegations with false statements.
Later, MTY Chairman Stanley Ma sold $43 million of well overpriced stock while investors remained in the dark about the false statements by MTY’s board and management.
If potential investors knew the truth about MTY’s failure rate and kickback scheme, they likely wouldn’t invest in any MTY franchise.
It closed 1,324 locations in 2020.) Curiously, no explanation is provided for the MTY location closures, although MTY previously reported it was “Buying out struggling franchises”.
While MTY’s competition was opening an average of nearly 1,000 locations each year in the four-years leading up to the pandemic, MTY was closing an average of 442 locations.

MTY has been accused of selling franchises on the basis of false and misleading statements before.
After these and other false statements were brought to MTY’s attention in the form of whistleblower allegations, MTY made additional false statements to cover-up its unprofitable franchises, collapsing franchise network and the company’s declining financial condition due to its kickback scheme.
In addition to its closures, MTY CEO Eric Lefebvre admits many other franchises are struggling and that “Getting our franchisees to renew is certainly a challenge”.
MTY has stringent financial requirements for franchisees these investors came to the company as financially successful individuals and are left broken-largely due to the financial interest of one man: Stanley Ma. Finally, following MTY’s whistleblower announcement two years ago, Lefebvre said he would address MTY’s franchisee profitability issue.
Franchise investors should therefore take the position that MTY cannot make its franchises profitable.
If MTY franchisees won’t renew and are willing to walk away from as much as a $1 million+ investment after ten years of operation, what more is there to say? Potential franchisees cannot hope to do better and should therefore look to invest with companies that do not present the profitability issues that plague MTY..

The 1973-74 season would prove to be the defining moment of the Spitfires stint in Tier II Junior A. Headed by new head coach and general manager Wayne Maxner, the Spitfires won the Southern Ontario Junior A regular season title with a record of 39 wins, 15 losses, and 8 ties.
The Windsor Spitfires applied for expansion to the OMJHL during their 1974 playoff run, but were rejected due to the “Unacceptability of Windsor Arena as a major A facility.” Their farm team, the Windsor Royals Junior B team of the Great Lakes Junior Hockey League put in a rival bid but were also rejected due to lack of an acceptable arena.
Game 4 belonged to the Spitfires as they took a 4-1 win and a 3-1 series lead. Game 5 was a tight affair, as the Spitfires took a 1-0 lead midway through the second period on the power play.
In defeating the Seattle Thunderbirds by 7-1 in a round-robin game on May 21, 2017, the Windsor Spitfires tied a Memorial Cup record for the fastest 3 goals scored by a team in a single period, matching the record set by the WHL’s New Westminster Bruins in the 1978 tournament.
The Spitfires lost the game 4-0, which also broke a string of 12 home wins the Spitfires had amassed so far that season.
Games on CKLW are commentated by Mike Miller and Frank Dayus IV. On television, Spitfires games are broadcast by YourTV Windsor, a community channel carried on Cogeco’s cable system in Windsor.

The G residues of alginate chain become folded and stacked under the bond interaction, which causes the structure transformation of adjacent alginate chains from random coils to ordered ribbon-like structure.
The M component has immunogenic property [22, 23], and it may evoke immune reactions if the M content in the alginate is more than 85%. Some studies had modified alginate with epimerases to transform M block into G block, which transformed the microcapsule to be more elastic and compact, less permeable, more stable under physiological conditions [24, 25], and better biocompatible.
The modifications of the alginate matrix have shown many advantages over the basic alginate, for example, the microcapsule prepared by modified alginate with covalently conjugated oligopeptides of a sequence of RGD can improve muscle regeneration after implanted in mice while compared to the nonmodified one [28-30]. The C2C12 skeletal myoblasts grown in RGD-modified alginate hydrogel display improved adhesion and proliferation, and the cells have fused into fibrils and expressed differentiation markers.
An important limitation of alginate microcapsule in clinical approach is that alginate cannot be degraded after implantation.
Have achieved a low-molecular-weight alginate by H2O2 treatment, and the treated alginate led to a decrease of the chain length and the formation of aldehyde groups being by reducing the end of C-1.
The cross-linked alginate scaffold prepared with the obtained alginate showed faster degradation rate than that from the unmodified alginate, which was due to the lower molecular weight of oxidized alginate and the formed aldehyde groups being susceptible to hydrolysis.
The alginate nanodevices have been studied extensively in order to control the release of drugs by varying drug-polymer interaction, and chemical immobilization of drug in alginate polymer matrix.

Sodium alginate is a neutral salt in which the carboxyl groups of alginate are bonded with a sodium ion.
Viscosity is affected by the molecular weight of the sodium alginate polymer.
Calcium ions can be chelated with phosphates to delay the reaction with sodium alginate or, conversely, acid can be used to accelerate the reaction by promoting the ionization of calcium ions.
Heat resistance is achieved by using a gel of sodium alginate and a calcium salt or adding these to other gelling agents.
Sodium alginate reacts with calcium in milk to form a loose gel network in ice cream.
The viscosity of the aqueous sodium alginate solution assists the dye penetration of the fabric resulting in a uniform, precise and controllable dyeing process.
Grades of KIMICA’s sodium alginate product are classified by the viscosity of a 1% solution.
Sodium Alginate Guide
The particular composition of blocks in sodium alginate hydrogel will dictate its mechanical properties that improve with longer G-blocks and higher overall molecular weight.
Sodium alginate can be crosslinked using divalent cations such as Ca2+ or Br2+. During the crosslinking, these ions are coordinated by G-blocks forming a hydrogel network.
Because of the ease of use and cytocompatibility, sodium alginate hydrogels are usually created by ionic crosslinking using calcium chloride.
Due to low cost, good biocompatibility, and low toxicity, sodium alginate has a long record of various applications from drug delivery, through wound healing, to tissue engineering.
Many different cell types showed their cytocompatibility with sodium alginate, including myoblasts, hepatocytes, and MSCs to name a few [3, 4]. Even though it shows a broad range of cell support, sodium alginate doesn’t provide cell attachment sites.

Sodium Alginate
There are two main ways to use sodium alginate to create spheres.
If you are trying to use it in something acidic you can usually add sodium citrate to alter the pH before adding the sodium alginate.
In general, sodium alginate easily disperses, hydrates, and gels in any temperature of liquid and melts above 266°F. However, it is easiest to add the sodium alginate powder little by little to the liquid, while mixing constantly with an immersion blender or whisk.
The more sodium alginate initially added to the base the higher the viscosity of the liquid inside the gel sphere.
Creating spheres with sodium alginate reverse spherification is a fun and surprisingly easy process! You can get more information about how spherification works and direct spherification vs reverse spherification.
Once you have the flavored sodium alginate base and calcium setting bath set up you are ready to start making spheres.
Serve them quickly because they will continue to gel due to the presence of the sodium alginate in the spheres.

Johns Manville
Johns Manville is an American company based in Denver, Colorado, that manufactures insulation, roofing materials and engineered products.
The present-day Johns Manville company traces its origins to two early manufacturers of construction materials.
In 1885, the Manville Covering Company was established in Wisconsin by Charles B. Manville, whose grandson was the much-married socialite Tommy Manville.
The bankruptcy was resolved by the formation of the Manville Trust to pay asbestos tort claimants in an orderly fashion by giving the trust the lion’s share of the equity in the company.
The company emerged from Chapter 11 in 1988 as the Manville Corporation.
In 1997, the company changed its name back to Johns Manville, and this is the name under which it does business today.
She was the CFO for Johns Manville and had been with the company for over 33 years.
Asbestos Products & Mesothelioma Trust Fund
In 1886, Charles Manville ran Manville Covering Company, which produced asbestos pipe insulation, and soon helped to sell Henry Ward Johns’ products.
From the 1920s to the 1970s, Johns-Manville continued to grow and expand their asbestos product offerings, including materials like asbestos cement, brake linings, sheet packaging and more.
Although the dangers of asbestos were known and documented by at least the 1920s, it wasn’t until the 1960s that a bigger emphasis was placed on the detrimental effects of asbestos exposure, and the company began to experience declining growth and profits.
Johns-Manville continued to produce and manufacture raw asbestos and their asbestos products for the next several decades.
The company’s asbestos trust fund was not confirmed until four years later.
The bankruptcy court confirmed their reorganization plan and established the Manville Personal Injury Settlement Trust to pay personal injury claims and the Manville Property Damage Settlement Trust to pay claims for property damage from asbestos removal.
Payout percentages have been lowered accordingly, and the trust has been able to continue offering asbestos victims an opportunity to seek compensation from the company’s wrongdoings.

Human Papillomavirus
What is HPV? HPV is the most common STI. There were about 43 million HPV infections in 2018, many among people in their late teens and early 20s. There are many different types of HPV. Some types can cause health problems, including genital warts and cancers.
HPV is a different virus than HIV and HSV. How is HPV spread?
Cancer often takes years, even decades, to develop after a person gets HPV. Genital warts and cancers result from different types of HPV. There is no way to know who will develop cancer or other health problems from HPV. People with weak immune systems may be less able to fight off HPV. They may also be more likely to develop health problems from HPV. How can I avoid HPV and the health problems it can cause?
Some adults age 27 through 45 years who are not already vaccinated may decide to get the HPV vaccine after speaking with their healthcare provider about their risk for new HPV infections and the possible benefits of vaccination.
How common is HPV and health problems that develop from HPV? HPV: CDC estimates that there were 43 million HPV infections in 2018.
Genital warts: Prior to HPV vaccines, genital warts caused by HPV affected roughly 340,000 to 360,000 people yearly.
Is there treatment for HPV or health problems that develop from HPV? There is no treatment for the virus itself.
Human Papillomavirus Infection
An HPV infection is caused by human papillomavirus, a DNA virus from the papillomavirus family.
HPV infection of the skin in the genital area is the most common sexually transmitted infection worldwide.
Clearance rates of high risk types of HPV Months after initial positive test 8 months 12 months 18 months % of men tested negative 70% 80% 100%. Clearing an infection does not always create immunity if there is a new or continuing source of infection.
Three vaccines are available to prevent infection by some HPV types: Gardasil, Gardasil 9 and Cervarix; all three protect against initial infection with HPV types 16 and 18, which cause most of the HPV-associated cancer cases.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that male “Condom use may reduce the risk for genital human papillomavirus infection” but provides a lesser degree of protection compared with other sexual transmitted diseases “Because HPV also may be transmitted by exposure to areas that are not covered or protected by the condom.”
In the United States, it is estimated that 10% of the population has an active HPV infection, 4% has an infection that has caused cytological abnormalities, and an additional 1% has an infection causing genital warts.
The Ludwig-McGill HPV Cohort is one of the world’s largest longitudinal studies of the natural history of human papillomavirus infection and cervical cancer risk.
Human Papillomaviruses: Basic Mechanisms Of Pathogenesis And Oncogenicity
Human papillomaviruses are small double-stranded DNA viruses that infect the cutaneous and mucosal epithelium.
Infection by specific HPV types has been linked to the development of cervical carcinoma.
HPV infects epithelial cells that undergo terminal differentiation and so encode multiple mechanisms to override the normal regulation of differentiation to produce progeny virions.
Two viral proteins, E6 and E7, alter cell cycle control and are the main arbitrators of HPV-induced oncogenesis.
Recent data suggest that E6 and E7 also play a major role in the inhibition of the host cell innate immune response to HPV. The E1 and E2 proteins, in combination with various cellular factors, mediate viral replication.
Despite decades of research, the function of other viral proteins still remains unclear.
While prophylactic vaccines to block genital HPV infection will soon be available, the widespread nature of HPV infection requires greater understanding of both the HPV life cycle as well as the mechanisms underlying HPV-induced carcinogenesis.
Symptoms And Causes
HPV infection is a viral infection that commonly causes skin or mucous membrane growths.
Some types of HPV infection cause warts, and some can cause different types of cancer.
Nearly all cervical cancers are caused by HPV infections, but cervical cancer may take 20 years or longer to develop after an HPV infection.
The HPV infection and early cervical cancer typically don’t cause noticeable symptoms.
If you’re pregnant and have an HPV infection with genital warts, it’s possible your baby may get the infection.
Touching someone’s warts or not wearing protection before contacting surfaces that have been exposed to HPV – such as public showers or swimming pools – might increase your risk of HPV infection.
To reduce the risk of contracting HPV infections that cause plantar warts, wear shoes or sandals in public pools and locker rooms.
Human Papillomavirus
What is HPV? Human papillomavirus is a group of related viruses.
There are two categories of sexually transmitted HPV. Low-risk HPV can cause warts on or around your genitals, anus, mouth, or throat.
Most HPV infections go away on their own and don’t cause cancer.
Some people develop warts from certain low-risk HPV infections, but the other types have no symptoms.
If a high-risk HPV infection lasts for many years and causes cell changes, you may have symptoms.

Rainwater Tank
A rainwater tank is a water tank used to collect and store rain water runoff, typically from rooftops via pipes.
Rainwater tanks are installed to make use of rain water for later use, reduce mains water use for economic or environmental reasons, and aid self-sufficiency.
Many water suppliers and health authorities, such as the New South Wales Department of Health, do not advise using rainwater for drinking when there is an alternative mains water supply available.
The article indicated that rainwater was collected and stored in plastic tanks and that the tank did nothing to mitigate the low pH. The water was then brought into homes by copper piping.
If the water is too acidic, the state, county or local health officials may be contacted to obtain advice, precise solutions and pH limits, and guidelines as to what should be used to treat rainwater to be used as domestic drinking water.
Almost all steel tanks currently produced for household rainwater collection come with a plastic inner lining to increase the life of the tank, prevent leaks and protect the water quality.
Rainwater to supplement drinking water supplies may be seen as an alternative to other water supply options such as recycling or seawater desalination.

What Is A Wheel Speed Sensor?
Commonly used wheel speed sensors are: magnetoelectric wheel speed sensors and Hall effect wheel speed sensors.
Generally speaking, all speed sensors can be used as wheel speed sensors, but considering practical factors such as the working environment of the wheels and the size of the space, commonly used wheel speed sensors are mainly: magnetoelectric wheel speed sensors, Hall type wheel speed sensors.
The diamond-shaped polar shaft speed sensor head is generally installed radially perpendicular to the ring gear; the chisel-shaped polar shaft speed sensor head is installed tangentially to the ring gear; the cylindrical polar shaft speed sensor head is installed perpendicular to the ring gear.
The Location of WSS.V What Does The Wheel Speed Sensor Do? The wheel speed sensor is mainly used to detect the frequency signal of each wheel rotation, and then transmit this signal to the ABS computer.
If you meet a good master, you will modify the wheel speed sensor bracket from the reserved length of the wire harness, then it will not be damaged after replacement; if you meet a general master, you will replace it, and the next time you hit the dead direction again The wheel speed sensor alarmed.
Disconnect the wheel speed sensor connector and measure the resistance of the wheel speed sensor.
When the vehicle speed is lower than 10 km / h, the right front wheel speed sensor shows 0 km / h. When the vehicle speed is higher than 10 km / h, the right front wheel speed sensor shows normal.

They detect the rotational wheel speed of vehicles using a non-contacting measurement principle.
For its wheel-speed sensors, Bosch offers different standard sensor heads suitable for various customer applications.
The wheel-speed sensor complies with the requirements of highly automated driving.
Wheel-speed sensors are an integral part of modern brake control and driving management systems.
Wheel Speed Sensor ❤️ Everything You Need To Know
Auto Repairs Are EXPENSIVE. Without the data from your wheel speed sensor, which works essentially like a tachometer, you wouldn’t have data about the actual speed your wheels are moving at to allow your car’s computer to manage your anti-lock brakes and traction control as well as the overall speed of your vehicle.
If something goes wrong with your wheel speed sensor then you could have problems not just maintaining the desired speed of your vehicle but with the stability and control of your vehicle as well.
Because the wheel speed sensor relays information about the speed of your wheels to your vehicle’s computer it’s responsible for letting your car know when the anti-lock brakes need to be applied and how much pressure they need to exert as well.
As you can see based on the signs and symptoms of a bad wheel sensor it’s entirely possible for you to drive with a faulty sensor in your vehicle but it’s definitely not a good idea to do so.
For that reason, if you do feel like you have a problem with your wheel sensor or you are experiencing any of the symptoms that we have described, your best bet is to get to a mechanic as soon as you can for your own safety and the safety of others on the road. How Much Does It Cost to Fix a Wheel Speed Sensor?
It’s also possible that if you’re having a problem with your wheel speed sensor malfunctioning you don’t necessarily need to actually replace it by buying a new one and swapping the sensor out.
As we can see, the wheel speed sensor does play an important role when it comes to the safety features of your vehicle in terms of traction and the ability to brake, especially in dangerous circumstances.
Symptoms Of A Bad Or Failing Wheel Speed Sensor
Drivers across the US would be prone to multiple speeding tickets without the important assistance of the wheel speed sensor.
The wheel speed sensor is different than the speed sensor attached inside the vehicle’s transmission.
Its job is to record the actual wheel speed and report this data to the vehicle ECU which controls all electronic functions on the car, truck, or SUV. Like any electronic device, the best way to determine how well the wheel speed sensor is working is to measure voltage output with a voltmeter.
Noted below are a few of the warning signs of a bad or failing wheel speed sensor for your review.
Since the wheel speed sensor also monitors the anti-lock braking system on your car, it’s common for the ABS Light to illuminate when the sensor is worn out, disconnected, or has been struck by debris, which means you’ll have to replace the wheel speed sensor.
The wheel speed sensor is responsible for relaying the wheel speed to the ECU so that it can tell the ABS system how much pressure to safely apply.
The wheel speed sensor also monitors wheel speed and sends the data to the traction control system; which is why this warning sign is commonly due to a worn out or broken wheel speed sensor.
Wheel Speed Sensors
If you are replacing a wheel bearing on a late-model vehicle, you will be dealing with a wheel speed sensor.
In the past decade, wheel speed sensors have been moving from differentials, axles and knuckles to inside or on the wheel bearing or hub unit.
At this location, the wheel speed sensors are more accurate and often more protected from the elements.
Most vehicles in use today use two types of wheel speed sensors; variable reluctance and magneto resistive.
The wheel speed sensors can detect the direction of rotation of the reluctor ring and zero speed.
The use of an oscilloscope can be a time-consuming process that requires a certain amount of information to accurately display a wheel speed sensor wave pattern.
If a wheel rotates at one revolution per second, the wheel speed sensors and tone rings produce a 32-Hertz frequency signal, and the time base is calculated by dividing the frequency by 1.
A wheel speed sensor as the name senses the speed of a wheel.
Today, we will learn about how to test wheel speed sensor when you think it malfunctions, so that the smooth driving doesn’t stop.
We will talk about the wheel speed sensor in a more detailed way: In order to distinguish whether the sensor is faulty or not, we use the stator ring.
Taking “How to test wheel speed sensor” further, use the transmission in the park settings along with the emergency brake.
Get to the wheel speed sensor once your car is high on the jack, and you have removed the wheel.
While attaching the sensor’s terminals for wheel speed sensor testing.
Observe the wheel speed sensor as well or if you are getting prompted about the current speed of the vehicle.
Diagnosing Antilock Brake System Wheel Speed Sensors
Loss of a wheel speed signal is a serious problem because the ABS module needs accurate input from all its sensors to determine whether or not a wheel is locking up.
Wheel speed sensors produce an alternating current output voltage that varies in frequency and amplitude with wheel speed.
WHEEL SPEED SENSOR CHECKS. One way to check a suspicious wheel speed sensor is to measure its output voltage.
A good wheel speed sensor will generally produce an alternating current voltage reading of 50 to 700 MV when the wheel is spun by hand at about one revolution per second.
ACTIVE WHEEL SPEED SENSORS. On some late model vehicles, a different type of wheel speed sensor is used.
Active wheel speed sensors use a Hall effect sensor to generate a digital speed signal with a square wave pattern.
The sensor may be misreading wheel speed if the magnetic ring on the wheel bearing is cracked or damaged.

What Is A Patch Cable & Patch Cable VS Ethernet Cable
Previously, we have introduced Ethernet cable and you can refer to this post – What Is an Ethernet Cable? Here Is a Full Introduction.
What is a patch cable? It is also called the patch cord, which is an electrical or optical cable used to connect one electronic or optical device to another signal route.
There are two types of patch cables, one is the fiber patch cables and the other is the ethernet patch cable.
Now, let’s see the differences between patch cable and Ethernet cable.
In short, an Ethernet cable is a type of cable, and a jumper or cable is a part of the cable, which acts as a connector at both ends.
To sum up, this post introduces what patch cable is and the types of patch cable.
You can know the differences between patch cable and Ethernet cable.
Getting To Know The Patch Cable: Definition, Types, Comparisons, And Uses
A patch cable connects two electronic or optical devices to each other for signal routing.
The patch cable definition differs in that patch cords typically refer to non-networked applications, such as wiring audio components.
Patch cables can be made from a variety of cable types: coaxial, UTP, STP, and fiber patch cable types.
Patch cables are generally shorter cable assemblies used to connect equipment in computer bays or racks, or to connect peripheral devices to the computer.
Selection of the appropriate patch cable for the intended network application and environment is very important.
A fiber optic patch cord, or “Jumper cable,” is a cable assembly with a fiber optic cable terminated at each end.
These devices can use Single Mode or Multimode fiber patch cable types and a variety of fiber optic connectors.
What Is An Ethernet Patch Cable?
The second man used an Ethernet patch cable plugged directly into his router.
Ethernet patch cables or straight-through cables connect powered devices of different types, such as lighting systems, digital display monitors, computers or any of the new IoT devices on the market right now to a network switch or Ethernet hub.
Ethernet patch cables, also called patch cords, are short lengths of Cat5e, Cat6 or Cat6A used to connect PDs to networks.
The backbone network equipment such as switches may stay the same over the life of the network, but the end point work area devices they connect can and do change, as will the Ethernet patch cable.
How an Ethernet patch cable differs from a structured cable.
Two primary considerations determine which Ethernet patch cable to use for your business.
Secondly, you can determine your choice of Ethernet patch cable by the power level your PDs require.
Patch Cable
A patch cable, patch cord or patch lead is an electrical or optical cable used to connect one electronic or optical device to another for signal routing.
“Patch cords are usually produced in many different colors so as to be easily distinguishable from each other. Types of patch cords include microphone cables, fiber optic spectroscopy cables, headphone extension cables, XLR connector, Tiny Telephone connector, RCA connector and ¼” TRS phone connector cables, and thicker, hose-like cords used to carry video or amplified signals.
A patch cord cable differs from a standard structured cabling in that a patch cable is stranded for flexibility, whereas a standard cable is solid copper.
Because the patch cord is stranded copper construction the attenuation is higher on patch cords than solid cable so short lengths should be adhered to.
A pigtail is similar to a patch cord and is the informal name given to a cable fitted with a connector at one end and bare wires at the other.
“DJs using record players connect their turntables to mixers or PA systems with stereo RCA connectors. DJs sometimes have to use equipment with multiple cable types, which can create connection difficulties; for example, the DJ’s record players and DJ mixers all use RCA connectors, but if they use a drum machine or a bass synthesizer, it may have a 1/4 inch mono connector. To resolve this problem, DJs can either use adapters or special cables. Heavier-gauge cables are used for carrying amplified signals from amplifiers to speakers. ¼” TRS phone connector cables can carry stereo signals, so they are used for stereo headphones and for some patching purposes.
The cables could get tangled or mixed up, and it would be hard to know, when faced with 20 connectors at the end of the cable run, which cable was associated with which microphone or instrument.

The transdermal patch is available in 10-mg, 15-mg, 20-mg, and 30-mg patches that are designed to be worn for approximately 9 hours.
Transdermal Patches: How To Apply Them
A transdermal patch is a patch that attaches to your skin and contains medication.
Transdermal patches are used to deliver a range of drugs into the body.
Transdermal patches are easy to use, but for them to work well, it’s important to use them properly.
This article provides step-by-step instructions and graphics on how to apply and use a transdermal patch.
Apply the exposed sticky part of the patch to the skin and press down.
Carefully store unused patches and dispose of used ones.
Transdermal patches can be an easy, effective way to receive medication.
Fentanyl Transdermal Patch: MedlinePlus Drug Information
People who are not being treated with fentanyl patches may be seriously harmed or may die if the sticky side of a patch touches their skin.
Transdermal fentanyl comes as a patch to apply to the skin.
If you are applying the patch to a child or to a person who is unable to think clearly, choose an area on the upper back to make it more difficult for the person to remove the patch and place it in his or her mouth.

How Do Transdermal Patches Work?
Transdermal patches are a well-established method of drug delivery.
Transdermal patches are patches that adhere to the skin as a way to deliver drugs.
Transdermal patches provide a non-invasive and painless method of drug delivery, with the added benefit of providing a constant and consistent therapeutic dosage over a predetermined time period.
Transdermal patches deliver drugs topically, where they are absorbed by the skin and into the bloodstream.
Below, you’ll find a basic outline of how to apply a patch and how to safely remove and discard a patch.
Passive transdermal patch drug delivery systems are those that really only on natural diffusion to transfer drug from the patch to the skin and into the body.
Depending on the style of patch, the adhesive may be combined with the drug in a single formula, as with multilaminate and drug-in-adhesive patches, or kept separate, as with matrix and reservoir style patches.
Transdermal Patch
A transdermal patch is a medicated adhesive patch that is placed on the skin to deliver a specific dose of medication through the skin and into the bloodstream.
The highest selling transdermal patch in the United States of America is the nicotine patch, which releases nicotine in controlled doses to help with cessation of tobacco smoking.
In 2007, Shire and Noven Pharmaceuticals, manufacturers of the Daytrana ADHD patch, announced a voluntary recall of several lots of the patch due to problems with separating the patch from its protective release liner.
As of March 2009, Sandoz-now manufactured by ALZA-no longer uses gel in its transdermal fentanyl patch; instead, Sandoz-branded fentanyl patches use a matrix/adhesive suspension, similar to other fentanyl patch manufacturers such as Mylan and Janssen.
Patients should be advised to remove any medicated patch prior to an MRI scan and replace it with a new patch after the scan is complete.
Adhesive – Serves to adhere the components of the patch together along with adhering the patch to the skin.
Microneedle Patch(MNPs) is a type of transdermal patch that holds its advantage, but reduces the disadvantage of basic transdermal patch.

Traceability Solutions
Traceability is the ability to trace all processes from procurement of raw materials to production, consumption and disposal to clarify “When and where the product was produced by whom.” Due to improving product quality and the rise in safety awareness in recent years, traceability has been increasing in importance and spreading into a wide range of fields, such as automotive, electronics, food and pharmaceutical.
Traceability Necessary information such as manufacturers, suppliers, and distributors is recorded.
Although there are various ways to view traceability, it can be generally divided into two perspectives: chain traceability and internal traceability.
The general concept of traceability in the world applies to chain traceability.
Internal traceability means to monitor the movement of parts/products within a limited specific area in a whole supply chain, such as a single company or plant.
Traceability in manufacturing processes is an activity of collecting and managing information regarding what has been done in manufacturing processes from acceptance of raw materials and parts to shipment of products.
Traceability in parts management is used to control and operate repeatedly used parts such as tools and jigs.
Traceability
Traceability is applicable to measurement, supply chain, software development, healthcare and security.
In food processing software, traceability systems imply the use of a unique piece of data which can be traced through the entire production flow, linking all sections of the business, including suppliers & future sales through the supply chain.
In food systems, ISO 22005, as part of the ISO 22000 family of standards, has been developed to define the principles for food traceability and specifies the basic requirements for the design and implementation of a feed and food traceability system.
The European Union’s General Food Law came into force in 2002, making traceability compulsory for food and feed operators and requiring those businesses to implement traceability systems.
Within the context of supporting legal and sustainable forest supply chains, traceability has emerged in the last decade as a new tool to verify claims and assure buyers about the source of their materials.
Enhanced traceability ensures that the supply chain data is 100% accurate from the forest to the point of export.
The World Health Organization has recognized the importance of traceability for medical products of human origin and urged member states “To encourage the implementation of globally consistent coding systems to facilitate national and international traceability”.
ScienceDirect Topics
The identification of the product and its traceability is the primary form of traceability, but is only one integral component of traceability with other information and activity records as discussed in the previous sections.
In a strategic traceability analysis, the goals of the system under study are carefully studied and connected to potential benefits of traceability.
Subsequently, the current traceability information system is modelled and traceability bottlenecks in relation to the business goals are surveyed.
The topic of traceability within meat supply chains therefore represents fertile ground from which to explore the drivers, outcomes, and implications of food traceability.
While the focus of the chapter is on meat traceability, it is impossible to discuss meat traceability without also considering the traceability of livestock as a component of meat traceability systems.
The chapter begins by examining perspectives on traceability in the context of meat supply chains: what is traceability, what functions do meat and livestock traceability systems perform, and how do their objectives differ? Building upon these concepts, the chapter then examines public and private sector approaches to meat and livestock traceability: why and how have mandatory traceability systems emerged and how do voluntary private sector traceability systems differ in terms of motivations and outcomes? A growing literature has emerged evaluating consumer responses to food traceability assurances; key insights from this literature and the implications for the effective use of meat traceability in supply chains are discussed.
Within the framework of the product recall, two types of traceability are necessary: tracking or forward traceability and tracing or backward traceability.
What Is Traceability?
Traceability is likely an important part of your job if your organization produces something that requires you to keep track of specs, changes, requests, results, and versions, Yet considering how many companies still track requirements manually, and how many development teams use disparate systems for application lifecycle management, the benefits of traceability may not be widely understood.
Requirements traceability is the ability to trace a requirement forwards and backwards in the development lifecycle.
The purpose of requirements traceability is to verify that requirements are met.
If a requirement changes, then you can use traceability to determine the impact of change.
Traceability in software testing is often done using a traceability matrix.
Within the traceability matrix, you’ll be able to see forward and backward traceability of each component.

How Traceability Eliminates Lab-To-Lab Variability Healthcare-In-Europe.Com
Standardisation in drug monitoring The advantages and limitations of the value of traceability chains in therapeutic drug monitoring will be explored during a key session at the EuroMedLab event.
In his presentation “Traceability chains in Therapeutic drug monitoring: scope, limitations and state of the art,” thought leader Dr Christoph Seger will highlight how measurement traceability is a critical component of laboratory measurement in the way it facilitates interchangeability.
Speaking ahead of the conference in Munich from April 10-14, Dr Seger said: ‘Measurement traceability is a key element of global laboratory medicine.
A lot of ground to cover in TDM. Dr Seger, who is CMO of the new laboratory “Labordiagnostic St. Gallen West AG” in St Gallen, Switzerland, explained that measurement traceability has been established for many key biomarkers in recent years.
The major limitation of measurement traceability is that at the highest metrological level, the measurand must be defined and must not be changed in the whole traceability procedure.
Discussing the scope of traceability chains in TDM, Dr Seger – who is chair of the IFCC work group on immunosuppressive drugs – will detail on techniques used in measurement platforms, such as liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry or ligand binding assays.
The expert said: ‘The major limitation of measurement traceability is that at the highest metrological level, the measurand must be defined and must not be changed in the whole traceability procedure.
Traceability Definition & Meaning
2.a. : a mark or line left by something that has passed.
5.a. : the intersection of a line or plane with a plane.
b. : the usually bright line or spot that moves across the screen of a cathode-ray tube.
c. : to copy by following the lines or letters as seen through a transparent superimposed sheet.
d. : to impress or imprint with a tracer e. : to record a tracing of in the form of a curved, wavy, or broken line.
b. : to discover by going backward over the evidence step by step.
Either of two straps, chains, or lines of a harness for attaching a draft animal to something to be drawn.
Traceability In Manufacturing: What Is It & How You Can
Traceability is the ability to track every part and product throughout the manufacturing process, from the moment when raw materials enter the factory to the moment when final products are shipped.
There is often this notion that traceability only applies to products that might be subject to recalls, like food or airbags.
If some products are reaching the end of the production line with defects, it is useful to have visibility into their whole production process.
Having access to all the data on products’ paths enables manufacturers to dig deep, and find the root cause of problems.
Seeing how parts and products move through lines facilitates continuous improvement.
Since traceability monitors how products move through the manufacturing process, it helps with value stream mapping.
Equipped with detailed product genealogy records, manufacturers gain supply chain visibility, which provides a much more granular picture of their operations’ value stream.

Overview Of Therapeutic Drug Monitoring
Therapeutic drug monitoring is generally defined as the clinical laboratory measurement of a chemical parameter that, with appropriate medical interpretation, will directly influence drug prescribing procedures []. Otherwise, TDM refers to the individualization of drug dosage by maintaining plasma or blood drug concentrations within a targeted therapeutic range or window.
Pioneers of drug monitoring in the 1970s focused on adverse drug reactions and demonstrated clearly that by constructing therapeutic ranges, the incidence of toxicity to drugs such as digoxin [], phenytoin, lithium, and theophylline [] could be reduced []. The emergence of clinical pharmacokinetic monitoring was encouraged by the increasing awareness of drug concentration-response relationships, the mapping of drug pharmacokinetic characteristics, the advent of high-throughput computerization, and advancements in analytical technology []. The more recent explosion of pharmacogenetic and pharmacogenomic research has been fuelled by the tremendous amount of genetic data generated by the Human Genome Project.
Excellent communication among team members is necessary to ensure that best practices in TDM are achieved [,17].The indications for drug monitoring have widened to include efficacy, compliance, drug-drug interactions, toxicity avoidance, and therapy cessation monitoring [, ]. Plasma drug concentration measurements alone may be helpful in several circumstances, although each indication may not apply equally to every drug Measuring plasma concentrations may be helpful as a low measurement reflects either poor recent compliance or undertreatment.
Presents the criteria that must be satisfied for the drug plasma concentration to be useful [].Table 2Even for drugs that fulfill these criteria, some controversy exists about the usefulness of monitoring their plasma concentrations []. First, it has been argued that no good evidence demonstrates that targeting plasma concentrations improves the therapeutic outcome [, ], and that the therapeutic value of plasma monitoring must be tested []. However, these arguments ignore the underlying principle: a stronger relationship exists between plasma concentration and effect than between dose and effect [], suggesting that it should be possible to improve therapy with a drug by monitoring its plasma concentrations.
Analytical goals in therapeutic drug monitoring should be established by determining the nature of the problem to be solved, selecting the appropriate matrix and methodology to solve the problem, and developing valid analytical schemes that are performed competently with appropriate quality and interpreted within the framework of the problem [].If plasma drug concentration measurements are to be of any value, attention must be paid to the timing of blood sampling, the type of blood sample, the measurement technique, and the interpretation of results.
Drug interactions, electrolyte balance, acid-base balance, age, bacterial resistance, and protein binding are some factors that modify the effect of the parent drug for a given drug plasma concentration if total drug concentration is measured.

Therapeutic Drug Monitoring: MedlinePlus Medical Test
Therapeutic drug monitoring is testing that measures the amount of certain medicines in your blood.
Most medicines can be dosed correctly without special testing.
For certain types of medicines, it can be hard to figure out a dose that provides enough medicine to treat your condition without causing dangerous side effects.
Other names: medicine levels blood test, therapeutic drug levels.
Therapeutic drug monitoring is used to determine the best dosages for people taking certain types of hard-to-dose medicines.
Depending on the type of medicine you are taking, you may need to schedule your test for before or after you take your regular dose.
If your dosages are changed, you may get repeated tests until your medicine levels fall into the therapeutic range.
Therapeutic Drug Monitoring
Therapeutic drug monitoring is defined as the management of a patient’s drug regime based on serum, plasma, or whole blood concentration of a drug.
Therapeutic drug monitoring is most valuable for drugs which have a narrow therapeutic window.
Is required for a small fraction of drugs used in pharmacotherapy, but for these drugs such monitoring is essential in order to achieve maximum efficacy of the drug as well as to avoid drug toxicity.
Therapeutic drug monitoring is also useful in avoiding adverse drug events.
Currently, the old approach of therapeutic drug monitoring for avoiding drug toxicity needs to be revised due to new developments in information technology, new analytical procedures for less frequently monitored drugs, and new clinical pharmacological expert opinions in the presentation of laboratory medicine results.
Today, therapeutic drug monitoring can be used to prevent an adverse drug reaction rather than confirming the cause of an existing adverse drug reaction.
The benefits of therapeutic drug monitoring include significant cost saving because hospitalization will be shortened for the patient, and avoidance of expensive diagnosis and treatment of an adverse drug event.
Therapeutic Drug Monitoring
Also Known As:. TDM. Therapeutic drug monitoring is the measurement of specific drugs and/or their breakdown products at timed intervals to maintain a relatively constant concentration of the medication in the blood.
Some of the monitored drugs tend to have a narrow “Therapeutic index,” which is a ratio between the toxic and therapeutic dose of medication.
As soon as a drug enters the body, different processes start removing the drug from the body.
The amount of time it takes for the body to reduce the drug concentration to half from the initial value is called a half-life of the drug.
Generally, a person must be given a drug dose at regular intervals to ensure that the effective or the therapeutic concentration of the drug is maintained in the body.
The drug concentration in the body may be enhanced or decreased by the interference of other medications that you may be taking along with the drug which has to be motioned.
The effectiveness of these treatments has been evaluated, but monitoring the concentration of the drug in the blood is not required for dosing.
Therapeutic Drug Monitoring
Therapeutic drug monitoring is a branch of clinical chemistry and clinical pharmacology that specializes in the measurement of medication levels in blood.
Its main focus is on drugs with a narrow therapeutic range, i.e. drugs that can easily be under- or overdosed.
There are numerous variables that influence the interpretation of drug concentration data: time, route and dose of drug given, time of blood sampling, handling and storage conditions, precision and accuracy of the analytical method, validity of pharmacokinetic models and assumptions, co-medications and, last but not least, clinical status of the patient.
Many different professionals are involved with the various elements of drug concentration monitoring, which is a truly multidisciplinary process.
Consistent, clinically established pharmacodynamic relationships between plasma drug concentrations and pharmacological efficacy and/or toxicity;.
Drug dosage optimization not achievable based on clinical observation alone;.
TDM increasingly proposed for a number of therapeutic drugs, e.g. many antibiotics, small molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitors and other targeted anticancer agents, TNF inhibitors and other biological agents, antifungal agents, antiretroviral agents used in HIV infection, psychiatric drugs etc.
Therapeutic Drug Monitoring: Definition & Techniques
In this lesson, learn which drugs require therapeutic drug monitoring, and the techniques necessary to perform TDM properly.
Therapeutic drug monitoring involves checking a patient’s body fluids, most often blood plasma, at a certain time to determine the level of a specific drug.
Let’s examine the procedure used to successfully perform TDM.Procedure for Therapeutic Drug Monitoring.
It is important that the technician review any restrictions of a particular drug before drawing a sample for TDM.Examples of Drugs Requiring Therapeutic Drug Monitoring.
Therapeutic drug monitoring is important for drugs with a:.narrow therapeutic index.
If you’re checking to see if the drug has reached a steady state, the sample must be obtained after five half-lives of the drug have occurred.
In this activity, you will check your knowledge regarding the definition and techniques of therapeutic drug monitoring presented in the lesson.
Therapeutic Drug Monitoring
Drug monitoring is employed to ensure that the patient’s drug concentrations are within the therapeutic range.
Slide 6: Recommended drug classes for TDM. The recommended drug classes for therapeutic drug monitoring include: Antiarrhythmics, Antibiotics, Anti-cancer drugs, Antidepressants, Antiepileptics Antipsychotics, Bronchodilators, Cardiac drugs, HIV drugs, Immunosuppressant drugs and Lithium.
The advantages are that the drug can be self-administered, drug absorption occurs rapidly and first-pass drug metabolism by the liver is avoided, which preserves the bioavailability of the drug.
Absorption of the drug is depended on the surface area of the skin where the drug is administered, lipid solubility of the drug and blood flow to the skin.
The advantages to transdermal drug delivery could be a longer duration of drug action, a reduction in the frequency of drug dosing, consistent drug bioavailability.
Other routes of drug administration include: Parenteral, Subcutaneous, Intramuscular, Intrathecal and Inhalation Factors that affect Absorption include: The ability of the drug to be soluble Patient’s physiology and pathology, such as gastric emptying time, gastric pH and comorbidities and the characteristics of the drug, such as molecular weight, concentration, formulation, ionization ability, protein binding and drug transport, which will impact the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of the drug.

A company involved in investment exposure to the battery metals supply chain, is pleased to announce that the Company intersected nickel, copper and cobalt mineralization during its Phase One drilling at the at the Lovelock Cobalt-Nickel-Copper project.
“Our understanding of the copper, cobalt and nickel mineralization in the extensive IOCG system at Lovelock continues to improve as a result of the 2021 drilling program. Three of the target areas tested on this limited initial drill campaign have yielded intersected mineralization of the key battery metals targeted which will require follow-up testing, including excellent results from the areas adjacent to and under the historical mine. In addition, there are still multiple areas yet to be tested, and through the newly entered partnership with GoldSpot Discoveries, GEMC is underway on working on prioritizing new targets for a second phase drill program.”
This limited drilling program was planned to test several of these anomalies including those around the vicinity of the former-producing Lovelock Mine.

Most notable were holes LCo212, LCo214 and LCo215, drilled at the Lovelock Mine Zone, the area directly correlated with old workings that supported underground mining of high-grade cobalt, nickel and copper.
The highlighted LCo212 interval is immediately below the void encountered during drilling and may be suggestive of mineralization nearby.
The drill program was directed at several target areas within the property: the Lovelock Mine Zone and targets generated through surface sampling, mapping and a high-power induced polarisation ground geophysical survey, which were subsequently prioritized by a follow-up surface geochemical program and airborne magnetic survey.
Global Energy Metals Corporation Intersects Nickel, Copper And Cobalt Mineralization At Lovelock
Elevated values of cobalt, nickel and copper were intercepted in three of the holes which targeted possible mineralization beneath the historical mine workings, the company said.
The firm said that the new data will be factored into a conceptual model of the distribution of mineralization and the controls on the types of mineralization on the property.
Global Energy Metals Corporation revealed it had intersected nickel, copper and cobalt mineralization at its Lovelock project in Nevada.
In a statement, GEMC said it is “Pleased” with the preliminary, widely-spaced drill holes it was able to complete prior to the end of the year, having intersected mineralization at select targets and gaining valuable technical information for future programs.
GEMC’s project development manager Timothy Strong told investors that the company’s understanding of the copper, cobalt and nickel mineralization in the extensive IOCG system at Lovelock continues to improve as a result of the 2021 drilling program.

Bank of America is bullish on the outlook of metals and mining exchange traded funds, as the firm labeled the space as “Favorable” due in part to increased policy focus, geopolitical catalysts, and scarcity amid a global energy transition.
In a Bank of America research note, the institution stated: “We think metals & mining ETFs are vulnerable to a near-term pull-back as prices have moved sharply higher in the past two months. That said, structural forces bolster our constructive outlook. Dollar-cost averaging strategies and buying on dips makes sense for investors looking to build exposure, in our view.”
From an ETF vantage point, BofA placed their most favorable fund to be SPDR S&P Metals & Mining ETF, as it had the best efficiency score in an analysis the institution conducted.
While the investment bank remains bullish on the case of metals and mining, they did elaborate that one material risk is around a “Sharp growth deceleration that derails mineral demand.” History has shown that when slower growth is in place it can mean diminished returns for metal and mining names.
The projected growth of the industry is enormous as global growth takes off.
BofA expects the addressable market for strategic metals including steel to hit $3.5T by 2030.
To put that figure into context annual crude oil production hovers around $2.9T. For a greater in-depth analysis on all four ETFs, see what Seeking Alpha’s quantitative metrics has to say about each specific fund.

Glazing Agent
A glazing agent is a natural or synthetic substance that provides a waxy, homogeneous, coating to prevent water loss from a surface and provide other protection.
In nature, the agents are used to keep the moisture in the organism, but science has harnessed this characteristic by turning it into a glazing agent that acts as a coating.
The glazing agent is made up of a substance that is classified as a wax.
These components are added in different proportions to achieve the optimal glazing agent for a product.
Preservation – the glazing agent must protect the product from degradation and water loss.
Stability – the glazing agent must maintain its integrity under pressure or heat.
Industrial reproduction – because most glazing agents are used on commercial goods and therefore large quantities of glazing agent may be needed…. There are different variations of glazing agents, depending on the product, but they are all designed for the same purpose.
Glazing Agents
Glazing agents are a type of food additive used to coat the outside of food to give it a shiny appearance and/or a protective coating that can extend shelf life.
Glazing agents include vegetable oils or animal fats and waxes such as beeswax, shellac and carnauba wax.
Before any food additive can be used in food sold in Australia and New Zealand, they must be assessed for safety and approved by FSANZ. As part of the safety assessment, we make sure there is a sound technical reason for their use and that the levels are safe and suitable for food.
If you want to know more about a food additive, including glazing agents, look at the ingredient list on the food label for the additive’s function and name or number, e.g. glazing agent.
We have a list of approved food additives to help you identify food additives as you shop.
Recent approvals by FSANZ. We recently approved an extension of use of the food additive mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids as a glazing agent on fruits and vegetables.
Our assessment found this additive to be safe and suitable as a glazing agent and will help extend shelf life and reduce food wastage.
Shellac, Waxes, Gums, Resins, Menthol Crystals, Zein
Many glazing agents and edible surface coatings are derived from waxes naturally produced by animals and plants to retain moisture, while others are synthetically derived from petroleum.
Having uniformly applied the coating to the product, the coating is stabilised by drying, heating, cooling or freezing, helping to prolong the product’s longevity.
Confectionery products are often coated by sugar panning, which involves tumbling products such as nuts, chocolates or jelly beans in a syrup to create a sugary outer shell.
Surface coatings are used as an excipient to coat tablets and capsules in order to improve their shelf-life.
Waxes are used in lipsticks, lip balms, emollients and other skincare products, providing a glossy surface coating.

Keeping it simple: our declaration-friendly glazing agents for chocolate dragées keep the ingredients list for your confectionery short and clear.
Is The Glazing Agent Vegan?
In this brief guide, we will answer the query, “Is glazing agent vegan?” and will discuss the uses of glazing agents.
Natural waxes generated by animals and plants, as well as synthetic waxes, are used to make glazing agents and edible surface coatings.
Because they naturally help an organism retain moisture, these substances have been modified by scientists into a glazing agent that serves as a protective layer over surfaces.
To get the best glazing agent for a product, these components are mixed in varying amounts.
The glazing agent must protect the product from deterioration and water loss to maintain its preservation value.
Because most glazing agents are used on commercial items, huge volumes of glazing agents may be required.
In this brief guide, we answered the query, “Is glazing agent vegan?” and discussed the uses of glazing agents.

Likely derived from various parts of animals unless otherwise described as Vegetable Carbons.
Not likely of animal origin as these additivies are normally derived from various types of fruit.
Derived from fatty acids, may originate from animal sources.
Because the 472 family is derived from Glycerine, they may contain animal fats.
The stearyl acid can be either plant or animal fat, though usually it is derived from vegetable oil.491.
Stearic acid is found in both vegetable and animal fats, but commercial production is usually synthetic.
Stearic acid is found in vegetable and animal fats, but commercial production is usually synthetic.
What Is Shellac?
The female lac bug finds a spot on a tree and creates a layer of shellac that covers herself entirely.
Later the eggs will hatch and the new lac bugs will come out from under the shellac.
Nowadays shellac is mostly produced on special shellac plantations in Southeast Asia.
Usually enough branches are spared to ensure that the lac bug colony survives and can continue to reproduce and make more shellac.
An estimated 50,000 to 300,000 lac bugs are needed to produce 1 kilogram of shellac.
According to the Shellac Export Promotion Council, 25 percent of shellac consists of ‘insect debris’.
Reports by NGOs have shown that people working at shellac plantations and shellac processing factories are often underpaid, exploited and treated badly and child labour is not uncommon.

Informatics And The Clinical Laboratory
In the face of this, laboratory systems need to meet new demands for data exchange with clinical electronic record systems for test requesting and results reporting.
Laboratory computing has been at the leading edge of health information systems application development for the past five decades- and fully integrated laboratory information technology systems have become the de facto prerequisites for efficient clinical service delivery and laboratory management.
One impact of current laboratory systems has been to make the internal operations of the laboratory a relatively paper-free exercise, in marked contrast to clinical areas within hospitals and more in line with the well-developed IT systems in primary care in the UK.7, The current systems log all requests for tests, transmit these on-line, and in real-time, to automated analytical instruments and receive back the test results.
In the UK, the NHS Pathology Modernisation Agenda reinforced by the Carter Review provided a major challenge for pathology informatics, requiring a significant shift in focus, away from traditional internal laboratory issues, to broader external service issues such as clinical system integration, test requesting and reporting of results, to clinical audit and management.
Most internal Quality Assurance will be devolved to the systems supporting the analytical platforms and, with electronic order communications and reporting systems, the data entry and clinical integration of results will take place on clinical systems used outside the laboratory.
Advanced clinical systems, such as those used in multidisciplinary team meetings and those offering e-consultation support, allow reporting directly into the clinical record with the laboratory clinician or scientist being able to interrogate the relevant areas of the clinical record and make much more intelligent and relevant judgments.
Ideally, a laboratory systems manager should hold professional qualifications in both laboratory sciences and IT, with some members of the IT team being computer science graduates with expertise in specialist subject areas such as database administration, networking and desktop support.

Kamen worked to improve the company’s existing products and to introduce the turbine-powered 480, which was originally developed as a response to a request for bids on a military training helicopter.
In January 2013 the company was purchased by the Chongqing Helicopter Investment Corporation of the People’s Republic of China.

Enstrom Closes Up Shop
Makers of the F-28 and 280 Shark piston models and 480 turbine single-engine model, Enstrom has produced more than 1,300 helicopters since its humble beginnings in founder Rudy Enstrom’s garage in the late 1950s.
In December 2012, CGAG purchased Enstrom, but never seemed to have plans to grow the business.
“They bought the company but never really invested in the company,” former head of sales and marketing Dennis Martin said.
For a time it looked from the outside as though Enstrom was going through something of a resurgence, but Martin said factory expansion and new product development was all debt-funded, with the promise that CGAG would pay the debt when it came due.
Martin said that although new sales were difficult because of the pandemic, parts sales were still going strong.
Enstrom sold between $3 million and $4 million worth of parts last year, and a few million were slated already for this year.
Martin said the process must move through the bankruptcy court before a new owner can rehire staff and start filling orders.

Millions of hours flown, tens of thousands of pilots trained, think of all the lives these aircraft have touched. It’s an incredible legacy.” Martin went on to thank the people of Northern Michigan and Wisconsin who helped start the company and the company’s employees.
A number of groups have already expressed interest in buying Enstrom’s assets out of bankruptcy and restarting the company, said Francour.
