Gevo expects to develop, own, and operate ethanol-to-jet plants to produce sustainable aviation fuel.
Gevo Inc. said it and Axens North America Inc. have established a strategic alliance aimed at accelerating the commercialization of sustainable ethanol-to-jet projects in the US. As part of the alliance, Gevo said Axens brings technologies with over 60 related patents, engineering packages, and certain proprietary equipment required to convert ethanol into jet fuel.

Manchester-Boston Regional Airport celebrates the launch of two more nonstop routes on Spirit Airlines this week, to Southwest Florida.

“A spokesperson said:”We apologise to passengers whose experience on the evening of Friday 1 st April was unsatisfactory.
“Our industry is facing staff shortages and recruitment challenges at present after the most damaging two years in its history.”
“On some occasions, including on the evening in question, this led to delays in passing through security, as well as other parts of the passenger journey that are managed by airlines and third parties, such as check-in and baggage reclaim.”
The government cannot take “Shortcuts on security” to boost staff numbers at Manchester Airport, Transport Secretary Grant Shapps has said.
The airport has been beset with long passenger delays since mid-March and said it was “Facing staff shortages and recruitment challenges”.
Travellers at the airport, which is owned by Greater Manchester’s 10 councils and an investment firm, have faced long queues for check-in and security.
The airport is warning passengers to expect waits of up to 90 minutes at security.
“The simple fact is that we don’t currently have the number of staff we need to provide the level of service that our passengers deserve,” he said.
“Despite our efforts since last autumn, the tight labour market around the airport has meant we have just not been able to hire people quickly enough.”While we still expect most passengers to get through in less than 30-40 minutes, there will be times over the next few months when waiting times will rise to between 60 and 90 minutes.
The airport does expect about 250 new security staff to begin work by early next month.
Manchester Airport Passengers Collapse And ‘Kids Forced To Urinate In Plastic Bags’ Amid FIVE HOUR Queues
A man has described the ‘mayhem’ he experienced when flying from Manchester Airport as children were ‘forced to urinate in plastic bags’ in huge security queues and some passengers collapsed.
Manchester Airport apologised to any passengers who had an ‘unsatisfactory’ experience on April 1 – the day of the flight.
“So we had two terminals worth of people going through one security area. It was mayhem. There was about five staff manning the whole thing and handing out trays for luggage. A family in front of us had a child who started being sick due to dehydration and heat exhaustion.”
A spokesperson for Manchester Airport apologised for the delays and said that security workers handled the ‘challenging circumstances’ as best they could.
“Wherever possible, our security staff prioritised passengers within queues, with the aim of ensuring that they did not miss their flights. We also have a special assistance service available for passengers who are less mobile and those who cannot stand for long periods, which can be pre-booked through their airline.”
“As such we are asking passengers to arrive at the airport three hours in advance and to double-check their hand luggage complies with security rules before arriving, as any additional screening of bags will add to wait times. If passengers do this, we are confident that we will be able to get them away on their travels.”
Police and transport staff will be parachuted in to help, while passengers will get real time online queuing information and the option to check-in their bags the night before their flight as part of a new action plan to solve a staffing crisis, Mr Burnham revealed.
A family was left heartbroken – and £1,500 out of pocket – after missing their flights due to the ongoing chaos at Manchester Airport.
Amid extensive queues and miscommunication, Michelle and her family were forced to go back home instead. They had been due to fly out from Manchester Airport on Tuesday via the 7.15am Ryanair flight, reports LancsLive.
Michelle was then told to wait 30 minutes with staff attempting to secure her family a flight to Milan and coach trip to Rome.
Michelle and her husband paid £1500 for the flights and while they were able to get refunds to the activities booked in Rome her travel insurance won’t be able to pay out for the flight due to the unprecedented circumstances of why she missed the flight.
“A spokesperson for Ryanair said:”This Manchester – Rome flight departed at 07.15am as scheduled carrying 160 passengers on board.
Ms Kane and her family arrived at the boarding gate at 07:10am, 25 mins after boarding had closed, and were politely advised that the flight had closed, it couldn’t be reopened, and that they had missed their flight.
“We understand that some passengers are experiencing delays at Manchester Airport due to security staff shortages, however these unfortunate delays are entirely out of our control. As this flight operated as scheduled, the standard T&Cs, which Ms Kane accepted at the time of booking, apply and no refund is due.”

Leonardo da Vinci, properly named Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci, was born on 15 April 1452 in, or close to, the Tuscan hill town of Vinci; Florence was 20 miles away.
Vasari describes Leonardo as lamenting on his deathbed, full of repentance, that “He had offended against God and men by failing to practice his art as he should have done.” Vasari states that in his last days, Leonardo sent for a priest to make his confession and to receive the Holy Sacrament.
Like the two contemporary architects Donato Bramante and Antonio da Sangallo the Elder, Leonardo experimented with designs for centrally planned churches, a number of which appear in his journals, as both plans and views, although none was ever realised.
While Leonardo’s experimentation followed scientific methods, a recent and exhaustive analysis of Leonardo as a scientist by Fritjof Capra argues that Leonardo was a fundamentally different kind of scientist from Galileo, Newton and other scientists who followed him in that, as a “Renaissance Man”, his theorising and hypothesising integrated the arts and particularly painting.
The 19th century brought a particular admiration for Leonardo’s genius, causing Henry Fuseli to write in 1801: “Such was the dawn of modern art, when Leonardo da Vinci broke forth with a splendour that distanced former excellence: made up of all the elements that constitute the essence of genius…” This is echoed by A.E. Rio who wrote in 1861: “He towered above all other artists through the strength and the nobility of his talents.”
Sixty years later, another American acquired them, leading to their being displayed at the Leonardo Museum in Vinci beginning on 2 May 2019, the 500th anniversary of the artist’s death.

Leonardo was far from being restricted to art and his interests were wide indeed, encompassing just about all the physical world.
Leonardo painted Ludovico Sforza’s mistress Cecilia Gallerani in his The Lady with an Ermine c. 1490 CE. His greatest work in the 17 years he spent in Milan was The Last Supper mural.
The early years of the 16th century CE also saw Leonardo complete a painting he had probably been working on sporadically, the Mona Lisa portrait.
Leonardo, specifically invited by the French king, may have been involved in the initial design stage for Francis’ Chateau de Chambord on the Loire River, built from 1519 to 1547 CE. The chateau’s ingenious double spiral staircase is frequently credited to Leonardo even if firm evidence is lacking.
Leonardo’s final work of art was his c. 1515 CE painting St. John the Baptist, although he seems to have focussed more on scientific enquiry in the latter stages of his life.
Leonardo’s artistic works were influential on fellow Renaissance artists because of their mastery of composition and light, the contrapposto posture of his figures, and the sheer invention and variety of their compositions.
Growing up in his father’s Vinci home, Leonardo had access to scholarly texts owned by family and friends.
One of Leonardo’s first big breaks was to paint an angel in Verrochio’s “Baptism of Christ,” and Leonardo was so much better than his master’s that Verrochio allegedly resolved never to paint again.
Leonardo stayed in the Verrocchio workshop until 1477.
The Duke kept Leonardo busy painting and sculpting and designing elaborate court festivals, but he also had Leonardo design weapons, buildings, and machinery.
From 1485 to 1490, Leonardo produced studies on many subjects, including nature, flying machines, geometry, mechanics, municipal construction, canals and architecture.
Back to Milan – after Ludovico Sforza’s fall from power in 1499 – Leonardo searched for a new patron.
About 1503, Leonardo reportedly began work on the “Mona Lisa.” From 1513 to 1516, he worked in Rome, maintaining a workshop and undertaking a variety of projects for the Pope.
Born as the illegitimate son of a notary, Piero da Vinci, and a peasant girl, Caterina, at Vinci in the region of Florence, Leonardo was educated in the studio of the renowned Florentine painter, Verrocchio.
