Sinclair Broadcast Group
These four stations would have been operated by Sinclair through joint sales and shared services agreements; WSWB, WNBW and WTLF are owned by MPS Media, but have long been operated by New Age Media through such agreements, while WTLH cannot be acquired by Sinclair directly due to its existing ownership of WTWC-TV. New Age Media and MPS Media requested the dismissal of its applications to sell the stations on October 31, 2014; the next day, Sinclair purchased the stations’ non-license assets and began operating them through a master service agreement.
On October 12, Sinclair Original Programming and the programming department was merged into Sinclair Programming and moved into Sinclair Television Group.
In 2021, Sinclair began merging primary programming of stations it was in an LMA with Sinclair sidecars onto subchannels of stations Sinclair owns outright, replacing the sidecar stations programming with subchannel network affiliations on their main signal.
Sinclair Broadcast Group distributed the interview to its local stations, and also released the interview online, with an on-screen graphic of “Did Dr. Fauci create COVID-19?” After media reports regarding the interview emerged, Sinclair received substantial criticism, resulting in Sinclair cancelling televised broadcast and removing the video from Sinclair-affiliated websites.
On October 12, 2015, Sinclair Original Programming and the programming department was merged into Sinclair Programming and moved into Sinclair Television Group.
Sinclair Television Group, Inc. is a subsidiary of Sinclair Broadcast Group that owns television stations in mid-sized markets.
Sinclair purchased one of them outright, while its Wichita station KMTW remains under Mercury ownership, albeit operated by Sinclair under an LMA. In 2021, Sinclair began to consolidate the major network affiliations on the DT1 channels held by Deerfield, HSH, Mercury and Cunningham stations to sister stations directly owned by Sinclair onto their DT2 or DT3 subchannels, effectively leaving many of these stations to carry only subchannel networks and be wholly uncompetitive in their markets.
Sinclair Broadcast Group, which owns almost 300 stations across the country and provides local news services, was the victim of a ransomware attack over the weekend, the company announced in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing on Monday.
“On October 16, 2021, the Company identified and began to investigate and take steps to contain a potential security incident. On October 17, 2021, the Company identified that certain servers and workstations in its environment were encrypted with ransomware, and that certain office and operational networks were disrupted,” the filing says.
“Data also was taken from the Company’s network. The Company is working to determine what information the data contained and will take other actions as appropriate based on its review.”
The company warned that while the incident is actively being managed, “The event has caused – and may continue to cause – disruption to parts of the Company’s business, including certain aspects of its provision of local advertisements by its local broadcast stations on behalf of its customers. The Company is working diligently to restore operations quickly and securely.”
The company responded to ABC News with a statement similar to what was in the SEC filing, and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency referred ABC News to Sinclair.
Meat supplier JBS, which was the victim of a ransomware attack over Memorial Day weekend, paid $11 million in bitcoins to the hackers that penetrated their system, the company announced.
The CISA director said over 90% of successful cyberattacks occur because of a phishing email and urged companies to prepare for disruption.
Sinclair Broadcast Group
Overall, we rate Sinclair Broadcast Group Right Biased based on political affiliation with the Republican Party and the direction of network news programming.
Founded in 1971, the Sinclair Broadcast Group is a publicly-traded American telecommunications company controlled by the family of company founder Julian Sinclair Smith.
According to the Center for Responsive Politics, the Sinclair Broadcast Group has donated $1,143,508 or 80% to Republican candidates since 1994.
Sinclair has been scrutinized by multiple media outlets for consistently favoring conservative politics.
In March 2018, Sinclair ordered its stations to produce promos with an “Anchor-delivered journalistic responsibility message” dictated by the company.
The wording of the mandated script was criticized by some station news staff and outside pundits for its discussion of “Fake news,” with some critics arguing that the message used similar language and rhetoric to that of Donald Trump.
In 2020, Sinclair delayed an interview with conspiracy theorist and anti-vaccination activist Dr. Judy Mikovits who promotes misinformation and false information regarding Covid-19.
Sinclair Broadcast Group: Porn, Prostitutes, And Propaganda
Much about David D. Smith, executive chairman of Sinclair Broadcast Group, is unconventional.
Sinclair and Smith have been much in the news lately due to revelations of segments Sinclair stations were forced to air, such as those condemning “Fake news” and commentaries by Boris Epshteyn, a former aide to Donald Trump.
Sinclair is not only a broadcasting powerhouse but part of a right-wing propaganda machine, says Brennan Suen, director of the LGBT program at Media Matters, which monitors misinformation spread by the right through media.
The Maryland-based company, which traces its origins to one Baltimore TV station founded in 1971 by Julian Sinclair Smith, has grown into a media empire with 193 TV stations in 89 markets, according to its website, which notes that it “Owns and operates, programs or provides sales services to more television stations than anyone” and “Is the leading local news provider in the country.” It also owns radio stations, a sci-fi cable network called Comet, and various digital platforms.
Sinclair Broadcast Group was founded in 1986 to combine the operation of TV stations owned by Julian Sinclair Smith and his four sons, David, Fred, Duncan, and Rob.
Another salacious bit of Smith’s history, Klinenberg reported in the article, is his arrest in 1996 for soliciting a prostitute who, according to police, performed “An unnatural and perverted sex act on him.” “Charged with a misdemeanor sex offense, Smith cut an unusual deal: In lieu of doing community service, he ordered Sinclair to broadcast reports publicizing local drug programs,” Klinenberg wrote.
That’s not the only thing Sinclair has ordered its stations to broadcast.
A Short History Of The Right-Wing Politics Of Sinclair Broadcasting
A Sinclair executive lashed out at criticism of Sinclair in an internal memo, according to Politico.
An executive at local broadcast TV giant Sinclair defended the company and lashed out against what he called “Biased” news organizations that have “An agenda to destroy our reputation” in an internal memo obtained by POLITICO. The memo, written by Sinclair’s Vice President of News Scott Livingston and sent to Sinclair station news directors, said he wants to “Dispel some of the myths” being reported about the organization.
Post: Sinclair’s Stations Have Been “Used To Attack Democrats Or To Boost Republicans.” The Washington Post reported in 2014 that after Sinclair purchased Washington’s ABC affiliate WJLA-TV, the channel took “a subtle but noticeable turn to the right.” The Post added that Sinclair’s stations have been “Used to attack Democratic candidates or to boost Republicans,” and on the eve of 2012 presidential elections, “Sinclair stations in several battlegrounds states aired a corporate-produced half-hour news ‘special’ that criticized” then-President Barack Obama and his policies.
In 2007, the Federal Communications Commission fined Sinclair $36,000 for broadcasting two public-affairs shows, “America’s Black Forum” and “Election Countdown” in 2004 on nine of its stations without disclosing that host Armstrong Williams had been paid by an affiliate of the Education Department to make favorable comments about the Bush administration’s “No Child Left Behind” policy.
A report in HuffPost reveals that the station was acquired, last month, by the conservative media conglomerate Sinclair Broadcasting.
Mark Hyman – a Sinclair executive and conservative commentator who appears on Sinclair stations – regularly criticized Clinton or highlighted positions favorable to Trump in his on-air commentaries.
Sinclair Made Deal With Trump Campaign For “Straighter Coverage.” In December, Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner said that the Trump campaign “Struck a deal with Sinclair Broadcast Group during the campaign to try and secure better media coverage,” according to Politico.
Post Idea #2: Near-infrared spectroscopy

Near Infrared Spectroscopy
Near-infrared spectroscopy is a brain imaging method that measures light absorbance to calculate oxy-hemoglobin and deoxy-hemoglobin, which provides an indirect measure of brain activity, particularly in the frontal cortex.
As any technology, NIRS is being used as part of a multimodal strategy because abnormal NIRS indicates a perfusion problem but does not provide the precise mechanism.
Although NIRS is still primarily used as a research tool, several studies have focused on obtaining reference ranges for certain NIRS measures for preterm and term infants.
Three main types of NIRS systems have been developed, continuous wave, frequency domain and time domain NIRS, each with various levels of complexity and distinct types of information they can retrieve.
Finally, broadband NIRS is an emerging technique that allows the recovery of multiple parameters via the measurement of the NIR intensity over a wide range of wavelengths.
Near-infrared spectroscopy utilizes the transparency of the scalp and skull to infrared light and the differences in absorption spectra between oxyhemoglobin and deoxyhemoglobin to quantify the local oxygen saturation of hemoglobin in the brain.
The NIRS probe consists of a light source, but unlike pulse oximetry that consists of one detector, the NIRS consists of two detectors.
Center For Interdisciplinary Brain Sciences Research
Functional NIRS is a specialized research imaging technique that uses near-infrared light to examine the function of the living brain.
Research participants can be standing, sitting, lying down, or even engaged in active behaviors while receiving an fNIRS scan.
An actual fNIRS scan typically takes less than one hour.
A participant might be asked to engage in a variety of activities during an fNIRS scan.
Participants might also be asked to play certain games or engage in activities on the computer or with an experimenter during the scan.
Near infrared spectroscopy is an increasingly popular technology for studying human brain function.
This makes functional NIRS leading neuroimaging modality to investigate brain function under more realistic, ecologically valid conditions and in settings not possible with most other functional neuroimaging techniques.
Near-Infrared Spectroscopy
One advantage is that NIR can typically penetrate much further into a sample than mid infrared radiation.
Many commercial instruments for UV/vis spectroscopy are capable of recording spectra in the NIR range.
In the same way, the range of some mid-IR instruments may extend into the NIR. In these instruments, the detector used for the NIR wavelengths is often the same detector used for the instrument’s “Main” range of interest.
Typical applications of NIR spectroscopy include the analysis of food products, pharmaceuticals, combustion products, and a major branch of astronomical spectroscopy.
Techniques have been developed for NIR spectroscopy of microscopic sample areas for film thickness measurements, research into the optical characteristics of nanoparticles and optical coatings for the telecommunications industry.
The term diffuse optical tomography is used for three-dimensional NIRS. The terms NIRS, NIRI, and DOT are often used interchangeably, but they have some distinctions.
As opposed to NIRS used in optical topography, general NIRS used in chemical assays does not provide imaging by mapping.
An Introduction To Near Infrared Spectroscopy
While the study of mid-IR spectroscopy continued to grow, especially after World War II, interest in the NIR extended to quantitative measurements of water, a few simple organic compounds and a very few studies of specific proteins.
When the complexity of NIR absorption was first realised and compared to the relatively more easily understood mid-IR spectra, it was thought by most researchers that there was little to be gained by studying NIR spectroscopy.
He had not been taught spectroscopy so he did not know that there was nothing to be gained in the NIR region.
A complete mathematical theory of reflection spectroscopy is not yet available but it has been found possible by good experimental practice and the utilisation of mathematical techniques to use NIR reflection spectroscopy for analytical chemistry.
With these sorts of attributes it is not surprising that 40 years after the ground-breaking research, a very wide range of analysis can be achieved by NIR spectroscopy.
What is surprising is that in spite of the success of NIR spectroscopic analysis, world-wide there are very few university chemistry departments that have any programme of research in NIR spectroscopy.
The majority of chemistry students leave university with no knowledge of NIR, with the possible exception of the old fashioned view that there is nothing useful to learn about the NIR region.
An Introduction To Near InfraRed Spectroscopy
NIR is the commonly used term for Near InfraRed spectroscopy, an analysis technique which has been used in the food and agricultural industries since the late 1970s.
NIR instruments use infrared light to analyze materials.
In the same way the NIR instrument will look at the intensity of the infrared colors of moisture and the other compounds we want to determine, and judge their concentration based on the intensity of their infrared colors.
The higher the concentration of a compound, the more infrared light is absorbed and less is reflected to the NIR instrument.
We then extract the infrared data from the NIR instrument and combine it with the corresponding reference analysis data.
Not all compounds absorb infrared light, and it is only those that do which can be measured by NIR. Water does, and so do organic compounds such as protein, fat, starch, sugar and many others.
Minerals and most inorganic compounds do not absorb infrared light and hence cannot be determined by NIR. Physical properties such as density or texture cannot absorb infrared light either.
Thermo Fisher Scientific
In NIR spectroscopy, the unknown substance is illuminated with a broad-spectrum of near infrared light, which can be absorbed, transmitted, reflected or scattered by the sample of interest.
The light intensity as a function of wavelength is measured before and after interacting with the sample, and the diffuse reflectance, a combination of absorbance and scattering, caused by the sample is calculated.
Light is absorbed in varying amount by the sample at particular frequencies corresponding to the combinations and overtones of vibrational frequencies of some bonds of the molecules in the sample.
Specifically, the bond vibrations between oxygen and hydrogen, carbon and hydrogen, and nitrogen and hydrogen result in NIR absorbance bands.
Careful development of a set of calibration samples and application of multivariate calibration techniques is essential for near-infrared analytical methods.
NIR can typically penetrate much further into a sample than FTIR, and unlike Raman, is not affected by fluorescence.
Thus, although NIR spectroscopy is not as chemically specific as Raman or FTIR, it can be very useful in probing bulk material with little or no sample preparation.

Loudspeaker drivers of the type pictured are termed dynamic to distinguish them from other sorts including moving iron speakers, and speakers using piezoelectric or electrostatic systems.
In the 1930s, loudspeaker manufacturers began to combine two and three drivers or sets of drivers each optimized for a different frequency range in order to improve frequency response and increase sound pressure level.
If the mid-range driver is a direct radiator, it can be mounted on the front baffle of a loudspeaker enclosure, or, if a compression driver, mounted at the throat of a horn for added output level and control of radiation pattern.
A coaxial driver is a loudspeaker driver with two or several combined concentric drivers.
These components are combined to form a filter network and are most often placed between the full frequency-range power amplifier and the loudspeaker drivers to divide the amplifier’s signal into the necessary frequency bands before being delivered to the individual drivers.
Some loudspeaker designs use a combination of passive and active crossover filtering, such as a passive crossover between the mid- and high-frequency drivers and an active crossover between the low-frequency driver and the combined mid- and high frequencies.
Horn loudspeakers use a shaped waveguide in front of or behind the driver to increase the directivity of the loudspeaker and to transform a small diameter, high pressure condition at the driver cone surface to a large diameter, low pressure condition at the mouth of the horn.
ScienceDirect Topics
The oscillating magnetic field which is generated as the electric current moves to and fro in the coil interacts with the field generated by the permanent magnet and creates alternating attractive and repulsive forces which propel the loudspeaker cone in and out, thereby creating sound.
Reinforcement loudspeakers are either cones or horns or some combination of the two.
For cone loudspeakers the greater the cone diameter and excursion are, the higher the maximum sound pressure level.
Horn loudspeakers are in widespread use in cinemas, theaters, concert halls, stadiums, and arenas where large acoustic powers must be radiated and where control of the direction of sound radiation is desired.
To be typically less than 1%. By comparison, the efficiency of radiation from a horn loudspeaker usually lies between 10% and 50%.The principal disadvantages of horn loudspeakers compared with the direct-radiator loudspeakers are higher cost and larger size.
Before proceeding with an analysis of the horn loudspeaker, it should be mentioned again that the radiating efficiency of a direct-radiator loudspeaker can be increased at low frequencies by mounting several units side by side in a single baffle.
Direct-radiator loudspeakers used in multiple often are not as satisfactory at high frequencies as one horn loudspeaker because of the difficulty of obtaining uniform phase conditions from different direct-radiator diaphragms.

Terrestrial Television
Terrestrial television is a type of television broadcasting in which the television signal is transmitted by radio waves from the terrestrial transmitter of a television station to a TV receiver having an antenna.
Terrestrial television stations broadcast on television channels with frequencies between about 52 and 600 MHz in the VHF and UHF bands.
The television broadcasting business followed the model of radio networks, with local television stations in cities and towns affiliated with television networks, either commercial or government-controlled, which provided content.
Television broadcasts were in black and white until the transition to color television in the late 1950s, 60s and early 70s. There was no other method of television delivery until the 1950s with the beginnings of cable television and community antenna television.
Free-to-air television repeaters and signal boosters can be used to rebroadcast a terrestrial television signal using an otherwise unused channel to cover areas with marginal reception.
In the Philippines, Alto Broadcasting System, the first commercial television broadcaster in Southeast Asia, launched its first commercial terrestrial television station DZAQ-TV on October 23, 1953, with the help of Radio Corporation of America.
In December 2005, the European Union decided to cease all analogue audio and analogue video television transmissions by 2012 and switch all terrestrial television broadcasting to digital audio and digital video.
What is Digital Television? Digital Terrestrial Television refers to the use of a network of TV transmission towers on earth as opposed to satellites in space to broadcast digital as opposed to analogue signals.
Why do we need to change from analogue to digital TV? In keeping with other countries and advancing technological developments worldwide, the government has decided to migrate from analogue TV to digital.
The benefits of digital TV broadcasting include: Excellent picture quality Clearer sound More channels A digital TV guide which can be easily updated for more accurate schedules.
What equipment do I need to watch DTT? When South Africa goes digital, everyone currently using a TV aerial will need a decoder which will decode the digital signal.
What is an integrated digital television? In the next few years it may be possible to buy a TV with a decoder built into the TV. These are called integrated digital televisions because the decoder is integrated.
Why is digital switchover taking so long? Government announced in 2008 that we would be using the DVB-T format for our digital terrestrial television.
Broadcasters will have to manage analogue and digital services during the dual illumination transition period of approximately three years during which both the analogue and digital signals will run parallel.
What Is Digital Terrestrial Television?
Digital terrestrial television is television signals broadcast over the air to be picked up over the air using an antenna rather than over cable or satellite.
In several countries, DTT has replaced analog television, with analog broadcasting discontinued.
Digital terrestrial television typically offers HDTV signals as well as more efficient use of the radio spectrum.
Digital terrestrial television broadcasts have become widely available in most developed countries.
There are several standards for digital terrestrial television used throughout the world.
Digital terrestrial television’s main advantage is its more efficient use of the radio spectrum, which allows regulators to reclaim bandwidth for things like emergency response.
The efficient bandwidth also allows operators to offer digital sub-channels.
What Is Digital Terrestrial TV And How Does It Work?
In the UK it is known as Freeview and it replaced the old analogue TV service which consisted of five channels.
With Freeview you can get up 70 free-to-air standard channels, 15 HD channels and around 30 radio services.
TV transmitters send digital TV signals through the air which are received by an aerial, often on a rooftop or in the loft of your home, which is connected to the TV. Most cities and most towns across the UK are served by large ‘main’ transmitters.
These are large structures which send TV signals to many millions of households.
Areas that can’t be covered by a main transmitter are normally served by smaller ‘relay’ transmitters.
Main transmitters broadcast a larger number of channels compared to relay transmitters.
To find out where your nearest transmitter is and see what channels you should be getting, just put your postcode into our Freeview Channel Checker.
Digital Terrestrial Television: Benefits And …
The so-called “New television” operates by exploiting the same digital coding system as the current satellite television and DVD systems.
Even though the new television signal is digital, it is transmitted via the ether and can therefore be received by a normal aerial installed on the roof of a house.
In the case of analogue transmission, each channel occupies a bandwidth of 8MHz around the carrier frequency, which corresponds to one of the 59 frequencies available in Italy.
By using digital coding it is possible to transmit the equivalent of 24Mbit per second in the same bandwidth.
First and foremost, it will be possible to increase the number of television channels, with up to 4 to 6 channels in the space that was previously occupied by a single analogue channel.
Digital television also offers the capacity to handle encrypted, and hence pay-per-view channels and transmissions, and other offers that do not require customers to become subscribers.
Thanks to the vast coverage of terrestrial television, “New television” offers much greater capacity than cable or satellite television, including excellent reception capacity even when the receiver is moving at speeds of up to 130Km/h, and hence the ability to compete pay-to-access mobile technologies such as DVB-H. Last, but not least, the opportunity to exploit a new digital tool as the driver of innovative advertisement services, increasingly addressed to those television-viewers which become very important ‘consumers’.

VeriFone Holdings Q3 2021 Earnings Call Transcript
Contribution profit for Q3 was $40.7 million, a 37.1% increase over the same period last year.
Growth for the quarter was stronger than anticipated due to the higher-than-expected volumes from certain large billers that went live in Q2 and Q3. The average amount of payment made on our platform was lower in Q3 of 2021 than it was in Q3 of 2020.
Operating expenses rose $10.9 million to $30 million for Q3 of 2021 from the same period last year.
Now from our Q3 results, let’s turn to our 2021 full year outlook.
Our revenue outlook for 2021 is in the range of $391 million to $393 million, which represents growth between 29.5% and 30.5% year over year.
This year, in Q3, as I mentioned in the prepared remarks, our average bill amount or average payment amount made on our platform was actually down from Q3 of last year.
So that we did get a benefit to contribution profit in Q3 of 2021 from the fact that that average bill amount was down because that means the interchange, we pay associated with those bills is lower than it would have been, say, last year in Q3. I think we haven’t seen anything yet that would indicate to us a material changes in that.

Reynolds And Reynolds
Reynolds and Reynolds was founded by Lucius Reynolds and his brother-in-law, James Gardner, in June 1866 in Dayton, Ohio.
A year after Reynolds was founded, Gardner sold his interest in the company to co-founder Lucius’ father, Ira Reynolds, and the company was renamed to its current namesake, Reynolds and Reynolds.
In 1963, Reynolds expanded into Canada through the acquisition of the automotive business unit of Windsor Office Supply, forming Reynolds and Reynolds Ltd. By the end of the decade it had about $50 million in revenues.
On August 8, 2006, Reynolds and Reynolds announced it was becoming a private company through a $2.8 billion acquisition by Houston-based Universal Computer Systems.
Through a GM program called the Integrated Dealership Management System, Reynolds provided software to GM dealerships through GM. When Reynolds would not make changes to its software requested by GM, GM alleged it was a breach of contract.
In January 2002, Reynolds and Reynolds announced it was switching from a Unix to a Windows-based system for its core software.
In 2011 Reynolds and Reynolds introduced the current version of its dealer management software, called ERA-IGNITE, which reduced the number of screens needed to perform tasks by two-thirds.

Third-Party Logistics
First party logistics providers are single service providers in a specific geographic area that specialize in certain goods or shipping methods.
The logistics department of a producing firm can also be a first party logistics provider if they have own transport assets and warehouses.
Second-party logistics providers are service providers which provide their specialized logistics services in a larger geographical area than the 1PL do.
The most significant difference between a second party logistics provider and a third-party logistics provider is the fact that a 3PL provider is always integrated into the customer’s system.
For being able to provide such an ideal solution fourth-party logistics providers need a good knowledge of the logistics branch and a good IT infrastructure.
A fourth party logistics provider selects the 3PL providers from the market which are most suitable for the logistical issues of their customer.
Fifth party logistics providers provide supply chain management and offer system-oriented consulting and supply chain management services to their customers.
What Is Third-Party Logistics?
While logistics might not be the first department that all companies think of outsourcing, hiring a third-party logistics company can come in handy.
Third-party logistics companies offer many of the same services as order fulfillment companies.
When you work with a 3PL company, you are outsourcing your e-commerce logistics processes, bypassing the need to have an in-house logistics department or procedure.
Third-party logistics companies can handle all or just parts of the logistics process for their clients.
Fourth-party logistics was introduced to enhance the activities of 3PLs. A 4PL company is hired to control and manage all supply chain processes for businesses using a third-party logistics company.
Third-party logistics companies may work with a variety of carriers to ensure that your orders are delivered to your customers.
In addition to efficiency, a third-party logistics company can also help you reduce shipping costs and expedite delivery times, since they are working with many clients and can get bulk discounts for these services through their carriers.
3PL: What Is A Third-Party Logistics Partner And Do I Need One?
If you’re ready to partner with a 3PL for the first time or considering multiple 3PL partners to diversify and mitigate risk, here’s what you need to know to find and select the right vendor.
The 3PL receives your inventory at its warehouse and organizes each SKU. When an order is placed on your ecommerce site, it’s either manually forwarded to the 3PL or automatically pushed.
If you need to hire rapidly to increase in-house capacity or invest in automation yourself, it might be more cost effective to outsource fulfillment to a 3PL. You’ll be outsourcing your logistics to shipping and fulfillment experts.
Download the 3PL checklistWhat to look for in a 3PL. We asked Calli Grace, Merchant Success Lead at Shopify Fulfillment Network, what she would recommend when it comes to choosing a 3PL. Her top piece of advice? Don’t choose a 3PL based on where you are today, but rather where your business is going to be one or three years from now.
Got your shortlist of 3PL providers? The final measure is to confirm that the 3PL integrates with your existing inventory management system, order management system, order processing software, and/or warehouse management solution.
Your order management system becomes the single source of truth, regardless of whether you’re posting orders from your own warehouses or using a 3PL. The growth of 3PLs. Aspects of 3PLs probably date back hundreds, if not thousands, of years.
The benefits of 3PL. The primary benefit of using a 3PL service to handle logistics, such as packaging, warehousing, fulfillment and distribution, is cost savings – for example, not having to maintain a warehouse or the staff to monitor supply chain operations.
3PL vs. 4PL. The term 4PL often pops up in discussions about 3PL. In brief, when 3PL providers outsource any of their own contracted services, they become a 4PL provider.
Some observers view 3PLs providers as managers of a particular outsourced service, while 4PL providers oversee services across an entire supply chain.
Another way to look at a 4PL service is as a provider that acts as a client company’s single point of contact in the supply chain; the 4PL provider selects and manages various 3PL activities 4PL is also known as lead logistics providers.
A 3PL provider takes responsibility for the goods or services being shipped, while a freight forwarder likely will not, given it is just an intermediary.
Third-Party Logistics: What Is It?
So what are 3PL companies? Well, third-party logistics are an excellent way for businesses to manage their supply chains in an efficient way.
There are a lot of third and even fourth-party logistics services to choose from, so businesses can’t choose lightly.

Both services are purchased outsourced logistics services that help businesses plan and execute their logistics needs.
Well, the right Third-Party Logistics company will offer a wide variety of freight, vans, trucks, and containers for your transportation needs, and handle it in a smooth, safe, and efficient fashion.
Any logistics company can put equipment into the back of a truck and drive it away, but if they can’t offer you the right technology, there’s no point in seeking their services.
The right 3PL(Third-Party Logistics) company should offer information technology to give you real-time updates, have all documentation in one easily accessible location and have a cloud-based system with some of the most trusted logistics tools of the age.

What’s New for 2022?We’ve been predicting the end of the Aventador for some time now, and it looks like the 2022 model year will be its last.
To celebrate the end of an era, Lamborghini is building a limited number of a specially equipped Aventador it’s calling the Ultimae.
Pricing and Which One to Buy Lamborghini hasn’t said how much the final edition of the Aventador will cost, but we expect its price tag to land somewhere between last year’s S and SVJ models.

Meant as a best-of-both-worlds model that combines the capability of the Aventador SVJ with the demure appearance of the Aventador S, this supercar ditches hardcore elements like a fixed wing and canards in favor of a more pared-back look.
The 2022 Lamborghini Aventador Ultimae is a serious supercar – and with its $558,853 as-tested price, a seriously expensive one at that.

Lamborghini To Auction Final Aventador Ultimae, V12 PHEV Replacement Confirmed
As for the car, it will be based on the coupe with a finish gradually going from blue to black.
Lamborghini says it will indeed be the final V12 supercar with a non-hybrid powertrain.
Only after these vehicles will have been completed, the last Ultimae is going to be produced, thus truly making it the last of its kind.
Along with the announcement about auctioning off the car, Lamborghini made another important disclosure.

My Surprising Heathrow Experience Gliding Through Airport Without Queues
Heathrow’s week of manic queues and flight cancellations, relayed to me by countless passengers who had been caught up in the chaos, meant I was fully expecting to experience a similar nightmare first-hand when I arrived at the airport on Friday afternoon.
Half an hour after arriving at Heathrow I found myself pondering my luck in a half-empty terminal, with check-in and security behind me.
He believes the Conservative-led government should have been more open with the travel industry before lifting restrictions, and Heathrow management should have stepped up and done more to ease the pressure this week.
Despite the strain that the pent-up demand for travel has placed on Heathrow and other airports in Britain, shop assistants told me it offered a dose of cash the industry has long been waiting for.
Passengers around me appeared upbeat, but I doubt they would have been so excited to be boarding a plane for the first time in months, perhaps years, if they had been stranded in the massive queues at Heathrow early this week.
An influx of travellers is also expected to hit Heathrow next week as people head abroad and others fly to the UK for the bank holiday Easter weekend.
Then I remembered my return flight to Heathrow is next week.
Gatwick And Heathrow Airport: EasyJet Flight Cancellations List For Saturday April 9 In Full
That long-awaited Easter getaway is quickly turning into a nightmare for holidaymakers this week.
Travellers have faced horrendous queues, both at arrivals and departures, and it seems life won’t be getting much easier for tourists as easyJet has axed at least 15 flights to or from Gatwick Airport today.
At Heathrow Airport, the situation isn’t much better as British Airways has grounded at least 11 flights.
Both of the airlines have called off hundreds of services over the last few days due to staff sickness coinciding with a sudden surge in demand from travellers.
To help you make sure you don’t waste a journey to Gatwick, we’ve looked at what flights have been cancelled as it stands.
Heathrow Airport
Heathrow Airport, originally called London Airport until 1966 and now known as London Heathrow, is a major international airport in London, England.
Heathrow Airport originated in 1929 as a small airfield on land south-east of the hamlet of Heathrow from which the airport takes its name.
The airport was opened on 25 March 1946 as London Airport and was renamed Heathrow Airport in 1966.
Whilst the cost of landing at Heathrow is determined by the CAA and Heathrow Airport Holdings, the allocation of landing slots to airlines is carried out by Airport Co-ordination Limited.
The airport has been criticised in recent years for overcrowding and delays; according to Heathrow Airport Holdings, Heathrow’s facilities were originally designed to accommodate 55 million passengers annually.
In 2015, Heathrow was the busiest airport in Europe in total passenger traffic, with 14% more passengers than Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport and 22% more than Istanbul Atatürk Airport.
From 12 September 2019, the climate change campaign group, Heathrow Pause attempted to disrupt flights into and out of Heathrow Airport in London by flying drones in the airport’s exclusion zone.
London Heathrow Airport
Located 32km west of central London, London Heathrow Airport is the busiest airport in the UK and one of the most visited airports in the world.
The Piccadilly line connects Heathrow Airport to central London and the rest of the London Underground network.
London Underground services leave Heathrow every few minutes from approximately 5.10am to 11.40pm. For easy journeys on the London Underground, it’s worth buying a Visitor Oyster Card* in advance.
If you do not have a Visitor Oyster Card before you arrive, you can use contactless payment cards or mobile payments to ride the London Underground, or you can buy an Oyster card at one of London Heathrow Airport’s Tube stations.
How to travel by train from Heathrow Airport to central London.
The journey from Heathrow Airport to London Paddington takes about 15 minutes, and trains operate from approximately 5.20am until midnight.
A trip in a cab to central London from Heathrow Airport takes approximately one hour.

Travelling via plane can be stressful due to the airport process and time management needed to make your flight on time.
This includes getting to the airport, getting through security, locating the correct terminal and gate as well as many other factors.
Recently Heathrow Airport gave travellers a sneak peek of their VIP luxury service that’s traditionally used by celebrities as well as the royal family.
The main purpose of the service is to give travellers a more luxurious and stress-free journey from their front door all the way up to boarding the plane.
Heathrow Airport themselves have confirmed that almost 100 airport employees are part of this VIP team, with some employees starting as early as 4am in order to reach the holidaymakers in time.

Manchester Airport
Manchester Airport is an international airport at Ringway, Manchester, England, 7.5 nautical miles south-west of Manchester city centre.
The airport comprises three passenger terminals and a cargo terminal, and is the only airport in the UK other than Heathrow Airport to operate two runways over 3,280 yd in length.
Manchester Airport covers an area of 560 hectares and has flights to 199 destinations, placing the airport thirteenth globally for total destinations served.
The airport is owned and managed by the Manchester Airport Holdings, a holding company owned by the Australian finance house IFM Investors and the ten metropolitan borough councils of Greater Manchester, with Manchester City Council owning the largest stake.
A High Speed 2 station known as Manchester Airport High Speed station, earmarked for opening in 2033, will create a regular sub-ten-minute shuttle service for connecting rail passengers between central Manchester and the Airport while relieving stress on the Styal Line to the Airport from Manchester which has become one of the most congested routes on the National Rail network.
In 2014, the Manchester Airport Metrolink route launched as part of the route expansion plans of the Manchester Metrolink tramway, aiding transport to and from the airport to the city centre.
Freight throughput at the airport grew from 94,000 tonnes in 1997 to the peak at 165,000 tonnes in 2007, but then declined to around 93,000 tonnes in 2013, subsequently increasing to over 109,000 tonnes in 2016 making Manchester the fourth-busiest UK airport for freight behind London Heathrow, East Midlands, and London Stansted airports.
UK Airport Chaos: Children Urinate In Plastic Bags & People Collapse At Manchester Airport
“We have launched one of our largest ever recruitment drives and hundreds of new security staff are in the process of being vetted and trained. Unfortunately though, this is not a quick process, and at times in the coming weeks, we do expect wait times in security to be up to 90 minutes.”
Ken Wells took to Twitter, stating: “An embarrassment of an operation, it’s killing Manchester’s reputation internationally, I know people who won’t go there just because of how this airport is operated.”
Express.co.uk has contacted Manchester Airport for comment.
“A spokesperson said:”We apologise to passengers whose experience on the evening of Friday 1 st April was unsatisfactory.
“Our industry is facing staff shortages and recruitment challenges at present after the most damaging two years in its history.”
“On some occasions, including on the evening in question, this led to delays in passing through security, as well as other parts of the passenger journey that are managed by airlines and third parties, such as check-in and baggage reclaim.”
The government cannot take “Shortcuts on security” to boost staff numbers at Manchester Airport, Transport Secretary Grant Shapps has said.
The airport has been beset with long passenger delays since mid-March and said it was “Facing staff shortages and recruitment challenges”.
Travellers at the airport, which is owned by Greater Manchester’s 10 councils and an investment firm, have faced long queues for check-in and security.
The airport is warning passengers to expect waits of up to 90 minutes at security.
“The simple fact is that we don’t currently have the number of staff we need to provide the level of service that our passengers deserve,” he said.
“Despite our efforts since last autumn, the tight labour market around the airport has meant we have just not been able to hire people quickly enough.”While we still expect most passengers to get through in less than 30-40 minutes, there will be times over the next few months when waiting times will rise to between 60 and 90 minutes.
The airport does expect about 250 new security staff to begin work by early next month.
Manchester Airport Passengers Collapse And ‘Kids Forced To Urinate In Plastic Bags’ Amid FIVE HOUR Queues
A man has described the ‘mayhem’ he experienced when flying from Manchester Airport as children were ‘forced to urinate in plastic bags’ in huge security queues and some passengers collapsed.
Manchester Airport apologised to any passengers who had an ‘unsatisfactory’ experience on April 1 – the day of the flight.
“So we had two terminals worth of people going through one security area. It was mayhem. There was about five staff manning the whole thing and handing out trays for luggage. A family in front of us had a child who started being sick due to dehydration and heat exhaustion.”
A spokesperson for Manchester Airport apologised for the delays and said that security workers handled the ‘challenging circumstances’ as best they could.
“Wherever possible, our security staff prioritised passengers within queues, with the aim of ensuring that they did not miss their flights. We also have a special assistance service available for passengers who are less mobile and those who cannot stand for long periods, which can be pre-booked through their airline.”
“As such we are asking passengers to arrive at the airport three hours in advance and to double-check their hand luggage complies with security rules before arriving, as any additional screening of bags will add to wait times. If passengers do this, we are confident that we will be able to get them away on their travels.”
Police and transport staff will be parachuted in to help, while passengers will get real time online queuing information and the option to check-in their bags the night before their flight as part of a new action plan to solve a staffing crisis, Mr Burnham revealed.
‘Nightmare’ Manchester Airport Delays See Heartbroken Family Miss Ryanair Flight To Rome
A family was left heartbroken – and £1,500 out of pocket – after missing their flights due to the ongoing chaos at Manchester Airport.
Amid extensive queues and miscommunication, Michelle and her family were forced to go back home instead. They had been due to fly out from Manchester Airport on Tuesday via the 7.15am Ryanair flight, reports LancsLive.
Michelle was then told to wait 30 minutes with staff attempting to secure her family a flight to Milan and coach trip to Rome.
Michelle and her husband paid £1500 for the flights and while they were able to get refunds to the activities booked in Rome her travel insurance won’t be able to pay out for the flight due to the unprecedented circumstances of why she missed the flight.
“A spokesperson for Ryanair said:”This Manchester – Rome flight departed at 07.15am as scheduled carrying 160 passengers on board.
Ms Kane and her family arrived at the boarding gate at 07:10am, 25 mins after boarding had closed, and were politely advised that the flight had closed, it couldn’t be reopened, and that they had missed their flight.
“We understand that some passengers are experiencing delays at Manchester Airport due to security staff shortages, however these unfortunate delays are entirely out of our control. As this flight operated as scheduled, the standard T&Cs, which Ms Kane accepted at the time of booking, apply and no refund is due.”

Token Vs Coin: What’S The Difference?
This Token vs Coin guide will start by looking at why there is so much confusion over the two terms.
By the end of this guide, you’ll also be able to recognize whether a digital asset is a token or a coin.
If the token is being created on Ethereum, the creator will need to spend some Ether to get the network’s miners to validate the token transaction.
It’s important to remember that fees need to be paid for all token transactions on a blockchain, not just the creation of the token.
Finally, in our token definition, let’s look at a few different types of tokens.
Equity Tokens – if a token represents some stock or equity in the company that issues it, it’s an equity token.
Now that you know the coin definition and token definition, think about your favorite cryptos are they coins or tokens? Ask me if you’re unsure and I’ll confirm which they are!
Token Coin
In numismatics, token coins or trade tokens are coin-like objects used instead of coins.
The field of token coins is part of exonumia and token coins are token money.
A key point of difference between a token coin and a legal tender coin is that the latter is issued by a governmental authority and is freely exchangeable for goods.
A token coin typically has a much more limited use and is often issued by a private company, group, association or individual.
The transaction is therefore one of barter, with the tokens playing a role of convenience, allowing the seller to receive his goods at a rate and time convenient to himself, and the merchant to tie the holder of the token coin to his shop.
Money is exchanged for the token coins or chips in a casino at the casino cage, gaming tables, slot machines or cashier stations for slot token coins.
Churches used to give tokens to members passing a religious test prior to the day of communion, then required the token for entry.

Understanding the Various Types of Crypto Tokens and Their Use Cases Crypto tokens are different from altcoins or coins.
As the crypto industry diversifies, different types of crypto tokens are created to suit some specific needs.
The most popular platform tokens are Ethereum-based tokens, with others being NEO, ICON and EOS. For example, ERC-20, ERC-223 and ERC-721 are some of the platform tokens issued on the Ethereum blockchain.
While protocol tokens let developers build projects, utility tokens are used to access certain services in their platforms.
Security tokens are tokens issued on a blockchain to represent a real-world asset.
Transactional tokens are sometimes referred to as currency tokens.
Although some reward tokens can be converted to other forms of tokens, they usually do not hold the same value as the other types of tokens.

Staking is the environmentally friendly alternative to crypto mining.
Both crypto miners and crypto stakers perform the same function – to validate blockchain transactions.
Staking accomplishes more while consuming less.
It can’t process many transactions per second and requires a tremendous amount of energy consumption.
The growing volume of Web3 transactions requires staking’s faster throughput to grow.

Leonardo Da Vinci
Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci was an Italian polymath of the High Renaissance who was active as a painter, draughtsman, engineer, scientist, theorist, sculptor and architect.
Leonardo da Vinci, properly named Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci, was born on 15 April 1452 in, or close to, the Tuscan hill town of Vinci; Florence was 20 miles away.
Vasari describes Leonardo as lamenting on his deathbed, full of repentance, that “He had offended against God and men by failing to practice his art as he should have done.” Vasari states that in his last days, Leonardo sent for a priest to make his confession and to receive the Holy Sacrament.
Like the two contemporary architects Donato Bramante and Antonio da Sangallo the Elder, Leonardo experimented with designs for centrally planned churches, a number of which appear in his journals, as both plans and views, although none was ever realised.
While Leonardo’s experimentation followed scientific methods, a recent and exhaustive analysis of Leonardo as a scientist by Fritjof Capra argues that Leonardo was a fundamentally different kind of scientist from Galileo, Newton and other scientists who followed him in that, as a “Renaissance Man”, his theorising and hypothesising integrated the arts and particularly painting.
The 19th century brought a particular admiration for Leonardo’s genius, causing Henry Fuseli to write in 1801: “Such was the dawn of modern art, when Leonardo da Vinci broke forth with a splendour that distanced former excellence: made up of all the elements that constitute the essence of genius…” This is echoed by A.E. Rio who wrote in 1861: “He towered above all other artists through the strength and the nobility of his talents.”
Sixty years later, another American acquired them, leading to their being displayed at the Leonardo Museum in Vinci beginning on 2 May 2019, the 500th anniversary of the artist’s death.
Leonardo Da Vinci: Paintings, Drawings, Quotes, Facts, & Bio
Leonardo da Vinci was born in a Tuscan hamlet near Vinci.
Leonardo da Vinci’s drawings would become an essential part of his legacy.
Da Vinci sketched prolifically, planning inventions, exploring human anatomy, drawing landscapes, and blocking out plans for paintings such as The Virgin of the Rocks and his sole surviving mural, The Last Supper.
Leonardo da Vinci received a commission to paint his “Adoration of the Magi” from Florence church elders who planned to use it as an altarpiece.
“Painting is poetry that is seen rather than felt, and poetry is painting that is felt rather than seen.”- Quote By Leonardo da Vinci.
“Upon the French invasion of Milan, the artist returned home, via Venice and Mantua, to Florence. His reputation preceded him, and he was lauded by old friends and up-and-coming artists captivated with his innovations in art. During this final era of his life, da Vinci completed a greater number of paintings than he had thus far. When he resettled in Florence in 1500, the artist made preliminary progress on his painting, Virgin and Child with Saint Anne,” which he would set aside unfinished, not to be completed for another 10 years.
Along with a small band of contemporary Renaissance figures, Leonardo da Vinci becomes the center of a movement of artists that has permanently enriched western culture.
World History Encyclopedia
In short, by combining the skills of the artisan with those of the scholar, Leonardo’s vision demonstrated the benefits of a completely new approach to understanding the present world and just how to best create new and marvellous things for a future one.
Leonardo was far from being restricted to art and his interests were wide indeed, encompassing just about all the physical world.
Leonardo painted Ludovico Sforza’s mistress Cecilia Gallerani in his The Lady with an Ermine c. 1490 CE. His greatest work in the 17 years he spent in Milan was The Last Supper mural.
The early years of the 16th century CE also saw Leonardo complete a painting he had probably been working on sporadically, the Mona Lisa portrait.
Leonardo, specifically invited by the French king, may have been involved in the initial design stage for Francis’ Chateau de Chambord on the Loire River, built from 1519 to 1547 CE. The chateau’s ingenious double spiral staircase is frequently credited to Leonardo even if firm evidence is lacking.
Leonardo’s final work of art was his c. 1515 CE painting St. John the Baptist, although he seems to have focussed more on scientific enquiry in the latter stages of his life.
Leonardo’s artistic works were influential on fellow Renaissance artists because of their mastery of composition and light, the contrapposto posture of his figures, and the sheer invention and variety of their compositions.
Leonardo Da Vinci
Growing up in his father’s Vinci home, Leonardo had access to scholarly texts owned by family and friends.
One of Leonardo’s first big breaks was to paint an angel in Verrochio’s “Baptism of Christ,” and Leonardo was so much better than his master’s that Verrochio allegedly resolved never to paint again.
Leonardo stayed in the Verrocchio workshop until 1477.
The Duke kept Leonardo busy painting and sculpting and designing elaborate court festivals, but he also had Leonardo design weapons, buildings, and machinery.
From 1485 to 1490, Leonardo produced studies on many subjects, including nature, flying machines, geometry, mechanics, municipal construction, canals and architecture.
Back to Milan – after Ludovico Sforza’s fall from power in 1499 – Leonardo searched for a new patron.
About 1503, Leonardo reportedly began work on the “Mona Lisa.” From 1513 to 1516, he worked in Rome, maintaining a workshop and undertaking a variety of projects for the Pope.
Leonardoda-Vinci.Org
Born as the illegitimate son of a notary, Piero da Vinci, and a peasant girl, Caterina, at Vinci in the region of Florence, Leonardo was educated in the studio of the renowned Florentine painter, Verrocchio.
It is primarily as a painter that Leonardo was and is renowned.
Two of his works, the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper occupy unique positions as the most famous, most reproduced and most parodied portrait and religious painting of all time, their fame approached only by Michelangelo’s Creation of Adam.
Leonardo’s drawing of the Vitruvian Man is also iconic.
Perhaps fifteen of his paintings survive, the small number due to his constant, and frequently disastrous, experimentation with new techniques, and his chronic procrastination.
These few works together with his notebooks, which contain drawings, scientific diagrams, and his thoughts on the nature of painting, comprise a contribution to later generations of artists only rivalled by that of his contemporary, Michelangelo.
As an engineer, Leonardo’s ideas were vastly ahead of his time.
Leonardo Da Vinci: Art, Family & Facts
Renaissance ArtKnown as the Renaissance, the period immediately following the Middle Ages in Europe saw a great revival of interest in the classical learning and values of ancient Greece and Rome.
Who posed for Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa?Over the years, scholars have debated the true inspiration behind the most famous half-smile in history-and possibly even the world’s most recognizable face.
Italian RenaissanceToward the end of the 14th century A.D., a handful of Italian thinkers declared that they were living in a new age.
The barbarous, unenlightened “Middle Ages” were over, they said; the new age would be a “Rinascità” of learning and literature, art and culture.
Vasco da GamaThe Portuguese nobleman Vasco da Gama sailed from Lisbon in 1497 on a mission to reach India and open a sea route from Europe to the East.
The Medici FamilyThe Medici family, also known as the House of Medici, first attained wealth and political power in Florence in the 13th century through its success in commerce and banking.
RenaissanceThe Renaissance was a fervent period of European cultural, artistic, political and economic “Rebirth” following the Middle Ages.
Biography, Art, Paintings, Mona Lisa, Drawings, Inventions, Achievements, & Facts
An artist by disposition and endowment, he considered his eyes to be his main avenue to knowledge; to Leonardo, sight was man’s highest sense because it alone conveyed the facts of experience immediately, correctly, and with certainty.
Leonardo did not seriously study Latin, the key language of traditional learning, until much later, when he acquired a working knowledge of it on his own.
In 1472 Leonardo was accepted into the painters’ guild of Florence, but he remained in his teacher’s workshop for five more years, after which time he worked independently in Florence until 1481.
There are a great many superb extant pen and pencil drawings from this period, including many technical sketches-for example, pumps, military weapons, mechanical apparatus-that offer evidence of Leonardo’s interest in and knowledge of technical matters even at the outset of his career.
First Milanese period In 1482 Leonardo moved to Milan to work in the service of the city’s duke-a surprising step when one realizes that the 30-year-old artist had just received his first substantial commissions from his native city of Florence: the unfinished panel painting Adoration of the Magi for the monastery of San Donato a Scopeto and an altar painting for the St. Bernard Chapel in the Palazzo della Signoria, which was never begun.
As a painter, Leonardo completed six works in the 17 years in Milan.
From about 1483 to 1486, he worked on the altar painting The Virgin of the Rocks, a project that led to 10 years of litigation between the Confraternity of the Immaculate Conception, which commissioned it, and Leonardo; for uncertain purposes, this legal dispute led Leonardo to create another version of the work in about 1508.
Post Idea #17: Dry cleaning

Dry Cleaning
Dry cleaning is any cleaning process for clothing and textiles using a solvent other than water.
Dry cleaning still involves liquid, but clothes are instead soaked in a water-free liquid solvent, tetrachloroethylene, known in the industry as “Perc”, which is the most widely used solvent.
Flammability concerns led William Joseph Stoddard, a dry cleaner from Atlanta, to develop Stoddard solvent as a slightly less flammable alternative to gasoline-based solvents.
These solvents were much less flammable than petroleum solvents and had improved cleaning power.
At this time, dry cleaning was carried out in two different machines-one for the cleaning process, and the second to remove the solvent from the garments.
Much stricter controls on solvent emissions have ensured that all dry cleaning machines in the Western world are now fully enclosed, and no solvent fumes are vented to the atmosphere.
Until this time, the cleaning is done in normal temperature, as the solvent is never heated in dry cleaning process.
How Dry Cleaning Works
Despite the name, the clothes don’t stay dry during dry cleaning.
A cleaning machine is a motor-driven washer/extractor/dryer that holds from 20 to 100 pounds of clothes or fabrics in a rotating, perforated stainless-steel basket.
As the clothes rotate in the perforated basket, there is a constant flow of clean solvent from the pump and filter system.
The next cycle drains and rapidly spins the clothes to expel the solvent and then goes into a dry cycle by circulating warm air through the clothes.
The remaining fumes and solvent are vaporized by warm air, condensed over cooling coils, and then passed through a secondary air control to get the solvent out.
The distilled solvent is separated from any water and returned to the tank as distilled solvent.
Regardless of which solvent the dry cleaner uses, the quality of cleaning, the degree of soil removal, the color brightness, the freshness, the odor and the softness all depend on the degree to which the cleaner controls his filter and solvent condition and moisture.
How To Dry Clean At Home Like A Pro
While most dry cleaners do an excellent job in removing stains, soil, and odors from our garments, trips to the dry cleaner can be expensive and inconvenient.
For many types of clothes, you can clean and refresh them at home for much less money.
The keys to successful dry cleaning at home are to gather the right products and equipment and know when to let the professionals handle the task.
Send to a Professional Dry Cleaner Home dry cleaning is perfect to refresh a garment after it has been worn or lightly soiled.
Inspect Your Clothes Before you use a dry cleaning kit, look over the garment to check for holes, loose threads, or visible stains.
You can also purchase a dry cleaning solvent separately to treat tough-to-remove stains.
Dry cleaning solvents are flammable and can produce hazardous fumes.
What Is Dry Cleaning?
In the simplest of terms, dry cleaning is a process of cleaning clothes without the use of water.
In more complex terms, the dry cleaning process has quite a few steps to it: Inspection and Tagging, Pre-Spotting, The Dry Cleaning Process, Post Spotting, Finishing Touches.
Once we’ve dropped off our garments, cleaners will typically go through a pre-spotting process where they’ll apply a chemical solvent, vacuum, or heat to stains on your garment, which helps to remove the stain during the actual dry cleaning process.
We have a strict policy that all of our cleaning partners use environmentally friendly cleaning processes.
While we do not partner with any cleaners that use perc we believe it is important for us to provide you with further insight on perc and green dry cleaning.
Wet cleaning is a water-based alternative to dry cleaning that is safe for use on dry-clean-only items.
We offer Dry Cleaning as well as specialty services such as Leather Cleaning.
Occupational Safety And Health Administration
There are currently no specific OSHA standards for dry cleaning.
Due to most dry cleaning industries using perchloroethylene, exposures related to dry cleaning hazards are addressed in specific OSHA standards for general industry.
How To Dry Clean: 11 Steps
XTo dry clean clothing, start by placing garments inside the dry cleaning bag that came with your dry cleaning kit.
Next, unfold the dry cleaning sheet and place it inside the dry cleaning bag before zipping up the bag.
Put the inside your dryer, set it on medium heat, and let the dryer run for 30 minutes.
Once the cycle completes, remove the clothes from the bag and hang them on hangers to prevent wrinkles from forming.

Post Idea #18: Active noise control
Related Articles – Summarized
Active Noise Control
Active noise control, also known as noise cancellation, or active noise reduction, is a method for reducing unwanted sound by the addition of a second sound specifically designed to cancel the first.
Noise cancellation at other locations is more difficult as the three-dimensional wavefronts of the unwanted sound and the cancellation signal could match and create alternating zones of constructive and destructive interference, reducing noise in some spots while doubling noise in others.
The term “1-dimension” refers to a simple pistonic relationship between the noise and the active speaker or between the active speaker and the listener.
The wavelength in air of sinusoidal noise at approximately 800 Hz is double the distance of the average person’s left ear to the right ear; such a noise coming directly from the front will be easily reduced by an active system but coming from the side will tend to cancel at one ear while being reinforced at the other, making the noise louder, not softer.
Commercial applications of 3-D noise reduction include the protection of aircraft cabins and car interiors, but in these situations, protection is mainly limited to the cancellation of repetitive noise such as engine-, propeller- or rotor-induced noise.
Noise control is an active or passive means of reducing sound emissions, often for personal comfort, environmental considerations or legal compliance.
Active noise control is sound reduction using a power source.
Active Noise Control
Active Noise Control is particularly suitable in situations where monotonous and low-frequency noise is a problem – for example, near transformers, ventilators, compressors and engines.
ANC is a good alternative to traditional solutions, such as sound-insulating walls and casing.
In some cases it is better to combine ANC with a traditional approach.
There is no one-size-fits-all solution; every situation requires a customised approach.
We’d be more than happy to assess your situation and help you find the right solution to your noise problem.
Active Noise Control With Simulink Real-Time
The following figure illustrates a classic example of feedforward ANC. A noise source at the entrance of a duct, such as a fan, is “Cancelled” by a loudspeaker.
Simulate the signal at the error microphone as the sum of the noise source filtered by the primary acoustic path and the ANC output filtered by the secondary acoustic path.
In the following image, from right to left, we have a loudspeaker playing the noise source, the reference microphone, the ANC loudspeaker, and the error microphone.
Latency is critical: the system must record the reference microphone, compute the response and play it back on the ANC loudspeaker in the time it takes for sound to travel between these points.
During the first 10 seconds, white noise is played back on the ANC loudspeaker and two NLMS filters are enabled, one per microphone.
In our prototype, the active ANC loudspeaker that we are using may introduce latency, so we can make sure that this is not an issue by comparing the response between the two microphones to the response between the ANC output signal and the error microphone.
The difference is only two or three samples, so using our current active loudspeaker and the Speedgoat, we cannot significantly reduce the distance between the reference microphone and the ANC loudspeaker in our prototype.
Active Noise Control
An effect called destructive interference arises which, in simple terms means that the noisy sound waves get cancelled out by counter waves from active noise cancellation system, thus creating a noise free zone.
Active noise cancellation systems can be particularly effective at low frequencies where the wavelength of sound is in the range of meters and other solutions tend to become over-engineered or fail to deliver enough efficiency for noise level reduction.
The advantages are that the speakers and measurement sensors do not obstruct the air pathway of for e.g. HVAC duct or louvres outlets.
Active systems can adapt dynamically to changes in noise signal and follow them accordingly providing robust solution for blocking excessive noise.
Active Noise Cancellation: What Is It And How Does It Work?
Instead of passively doing nothing other than blocking the sound Active Noise Cancellation is a method in which sound is actively created to cancel out any problem noise.
Active Noice Cancellation uses sound to minimise other sounds, you may be thinking that ANC is just a technical term for white noise but actually it is very different as active noise is designed to counteract problem noise-causing both noises to effectively cancel each other out so you don’t hear anything.
Active Noise Cancellation is a technology which is used in some high-end headphones, it is also used in some high end computer fans as these can be notoriously noisy in high powered machines.
ANC is also commonly known as Active Noise Reduction and Active Noise Control technology.
Headphones which use active noise cancellation utilise a small microphone on the outside of the headphone piece to listen to the ambient noise in the background.
Active noise cancellation works by mirroring the exact compression and rarefactions of the sound waves with exactly the same amplitude, the difference between the original sound and the ANC sound is that the ANC soundwaves are inverted.
7 years late in 1957 Mr Willard Meeker created a working model of how active noise control could be used on headphones.

From the Publisher: Active noise control is rapidly becoming the most effective way to reduce noises that can otherwise be very difficult and expensive to control.
ANC is achieved by introducing a canceling “Anti-noise” wave through an appropriate array of secondary sources.
When applied accurately, ANC can provide effective solutions to noise-related problems in a broad range of areas, including manufacturing and industrial operations as well as consumer products.
Active Noise Cancelation For Cars: The Future Of Noise Control
Even though the first active noise control system was patented way back in 1936, it didn’t come into use until the 50s. Around that time, the system was used to reduce noise levels in helicopters and airplanes.
How do noise control systems normally work? Well, there are several key components you need for a noise control system based on the process of destructive interference.
Since active noise control technology already blocks out surrounding noise, users tend to leave the volume levels within a safe range.
Manufacturers didn’t start making cars with active noise cancelation technology widely available until about 10 years ago.
Obviously, active noise control systems for cars are very different than those they put in headphones.
Nowadays, plenty of cars use active noise control to create a quiet cabin.
Even the best active noise cancelation system won’t work unless the car already has decent passive noise insulation features.
