NVM Express is the non-profit consortium of tech industry leaders defining, managing and marketing NVMe technology.
The latest NVMe 2.0 library of specifications consists of multiple documents, including the NVMe Base specification, Command Set specifications, Transport specifications and the NVMe Management Interface specification.
The NVMe specification was designed from the ground up for SSDs. It is a much more efficient interface, providing lower latency, and is more scalable for SSDs than legacy interfaces, like serial ATA. The first part of the specification is the host control interface.
The NVMe architecture brings a new high performance queuing mechanism that supports 65,535 I/O queues each with 65,535 commands.
The NVMe interface significantly reduces the number of memory-mapped input/output commands and accommodates operating system device drivers running in interrupt or polling modes for higher performance and lower latency.

The Canadian firm changed its name from Valeant in 2018 as it sought to distance itself from a series of scandals and accounting issues under the drug company’s previous management.

Just a few weeks after Bausch Health ran afoul of the FDA’s drug marketing police, a new report has emerged that the company has been under investigation by the Department of Justice since at least last June.
The probe, known as a civil investigative demand, aims to look at whether Bausch promoted three plaque psoriasis drugs – as well as a fungal treatment – in ways not intended for use.
DOJ is also examining if financial compensation was provided to Medicare patients who had been prescribed one of the drugs, the compliance information regarding that drug and if other payments had been made to doctors helping promote all four treatments, according to the report.

Per an untitled letter dated March 31, the FDA’s Office of Prescription Drug Promotion found multiple issues with Bausch’s marketing practices of Duobrii, including a “Misleading” video and problematic claims about purported efficacy.
On Thursday, the agency released two more guidance documents – one new draft on the FDA’s current recommendations on clinical trials for drugs to treat celiac disease as an adjunct to a gluten-free diet in adults, and another 30-page final guidance on the bioavailability studies submitted inside of new drug applications and IND requests for clinical trials.

Bausch Health has drawn scrutiny for a promotional video and web page that, regulators said, misbranded its prescription psoriasis cream Duobrii.
Bausch was targeted because the video and web page downplay the risks associated with the drug and mislead regarding the overall benefit patients may expect, according to an untitled letter sent by the FDA’s Office of Prescription Drug Promotion.
Untitled letters, a less severe form of enforcement than warning letters, notify the manufacturer of a regulatory violation.
The letter to Bausch Health is the second of its kind in 2022, following four in 2021.
Like the January 2022 untitled letter for social media promotion around Eli Lilly’s Trulicity diabetes injection, the Bausch letter comments not simply on the omission of risk information but the manner in which that information is being presented.
While some information regarding the risk is presented in the video, it “Does not mitigate the misleading impression,” the letter reads.
Bausch Health is required to submit a response to OPDP within 15 working days.
In July 2018, the name of the company was changed to Bausch Health Companies Inc., in order to distance itself from the public outrage associated with massive price increases introduced by Valeant.
In March 2013, Valeant acquired Obagi Medical Products, Inc. In May 2013, the company acquired Bausch & Lomb from Warburg Pincus for $8.7 billion in a move to dominate the market for specialty contact lenses and related products.
Tanner had been responsible for managing Valeant’s relationship with Philidor as well as Valeant’s “Alternative fulfillment” program, which the company used to increase prescriptions for its own drugs instead of generic substitutes.
In late September 2015, members of the United States House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform urged the Committee to subpoena Valeant for their documents regarding the sharp increases in the price of “Two heart medications it had just bought the rights to sell: Nitropress and Isuprel. Valeant had raised the price of Nitropress by 212% and Isuprel by 525%”. The New York Times columnist Joe Nocera claimed that Valeant CEO J. Michael Pearson’s “Plan was to acquire pharmaceutical companies, fire most of their scientists, and jack up the price of their drugs”.
“Valeant is known for buying companies and laying off their employees to achieve savings, while accumulating a debt of about $30 billion. It spends an amount equivalent to only 3% of its sales on research and development, which it views as risky and inefficient compared with buying existing drugs. Valeant also pays extremely low taxes because it is officially based in Canada, although Mr. Pearson operates from New Jersey.”
Valeant’s acquisition of Bausch & Lomb in 2013, and Paragon Vision Services in 2015, is alleged to have given the company control of over 80% of the production pipeline for hard contact lenses.
On April 27, 2016, Bill Ackman, J. Michael Pearson, and Howard Schiller were forced to appear before the United States Senate Special Committee on Ageing to answer to concerns about the repercussions for patients and the health care system faced with Valeant’s business model.

“Subsidies prevent putting more money into new investments, and that is why financial institutions like the EIB come to aid Egypt in implementing new investments,” Palanza said.
Deputy head of the EU delegation in Egypt Tobias Krause said that digital transformation is a key pillar of the current ambitious phase of cooperation with Egypt.
“The EU aims to support the Egyptian government’s efforts to secure resilient and affordable access to universal connectivity to the benefit of Egyptian citizens. This project shows the commitment of our partners in the EIB to support crucial inclusive digital infrastructure planning in Egypt,” he said.

Methods: We searched Medline and Embase through March 2020 for randomized trials with a minimum 2-week intervention period that compared MCT oil with another fat or oil.
Outcomes were total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, and triglyceride levels.
MCT oil intake did not affect total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, or HDL cholesterol levels, but did increase triglycerides.
Subgroup analyses showed that the effects of MCT oil on total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol differed based on the fatty acid profile of the control oil, with MCT oil increasing total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol when compared to a comparator consisting predominantly of unsaturated fatty acids, and with some evidence for reductions when compared to longer-chain SFAs.
Conclusions: MCT oil does not affect total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, or HDL cholesterol levels, but does cause a small increase in triglycerides.

The company’s revenue prospects could dim further if the Securities and Exchange Commission banned the controversial practice of payment for order flow, David Trainer, the CEO of investment research firm New Constructs, told Forbes.
High-profile proponents of regulating the practice abound, including best-selling author Michael Lewis.
In a new interview, Lewis said the SEC should make a “Big change” on payment for order flow.
Lewis, whose landmark 2014 book “Flash Boys” drew attention to the lucrative use of high frequency trading on Wall Street, said that brokers who use payment for order flow are “Skimming rent” and “Getting rich.”
When accepting payment for order flow, brokers accept smaller price improvement for trades in exchange for higher payments from the market makers that fulfill the trades – a practice that can amount to a small surcharge for traders, effectively nullifying the commission-free trading promised by some brokers.
“It’s really true that it’s cheaper to trade in the stock market now than it was a long time ago, when you paid a broker a ridiculous commission to execute your trade,” Lewis says.
To be sure, Robinhood is hardly the only broker that accepts payment for order flow.
In a new interview, Lewis cautioned that the value of cryptocurrency may dramatically plummet and its wide adoption could threaten traditional capital markets.
While the major stock indexes have suffered losses so far this year, the widely held cryptocurrencies bitcoin and ethereum have seen sharper declines.
Proponents of cryptocurrency say volatility is to be expected for a relatively new asset class, often noting that regulatory uncertainty helps foster market swings.
Lewis, whose 2014 book heightened criticism over the lucrative use of high frequency trading on Wall Street, said cryptocurrency markets could improve upon equity markets in their removal of brokers who otherwise provide an advantage for some traders.
Cryptocurrency “Eliminates middlemen,” Lewis says.
“If you are trading on a cryptocurrency exchange, you have an account with the exchange; you don’t account with a broker who’s moving your stuff in and out of the exchange.”
“There are not high frequency traders who are paying the cryptocurrency exchange for faster information about the exchange,” he adds.

Lewis, whose work includes “Moneyball” and “The Big Short,” opened up last week about how he is still grieving the death of his daughter, Dixie Lewis, 19, in Truckee, Calif., in May. “A hole has been blown in our lives. The question is what do you grow in that hole and how do you grow from this experience,” Lewis said on Andrew Sullivan’s “The Dishcast” podcast on Friday.
Lewis said he is “Going through the hardest thing I’ve ever gone through” and that the grieving process has been “Exhausting.”
Lewis said he still doesn’t have any answers about what caused the car accident.
Lewis said he tries to “Patch together hours of distracted pleasure and normalcy,” but he still finds his thoughts turning to his daughter.
“It’s very hard day to day when you know the last thing you’re going to do before you go to bed is think of her, and the first thing you’re gonna do when you wake up is think of her,” he said.
