Office Of Gas And Electricity Markets

The Office of Gas and Electricity Markets, supporting the Gas and Electricity Markets Authority, is the government regulator for the electricity and downstream natural gas markets in Great Britain.

It was formed by the merger of the Office of Electricity Regulation and Office of Gas Supply.

Consumers’ interests are their interests taken as a whole, including their interests in the reduction of greenhouse gases and in the security of the supply of gas and electricity to them.

The privatisation of the gas and electricity supply industries was enacted by the Gas Act 1986 and the Electricity Act 1989.

Section 1 of the respective Acts created the roles of Director General of Gas Supply and the Office of Gas Supply, and the Director General of Electricity Supply and the Office of Electricity Regulation.

At the time of privatisation, British Gas and the regional public electricity suppliers held a monopoly on supplying all domestic gas and electricity consumers respectively.

In 1997, British Gas was split into Centrica and BG plc, in order to separate gas supply from its production and distribution.

In the United States, direct debits happen via the ACH network, a messaging system that connects financial institutions and enables them to coordinate funds transfers between their customers’ accounts.

For ACH direct debit transactions, the typical process looks like this:.1.

A customer enters into a business agreement to make ongoing payments for regularly billed services such as life insurance, an auto loan payment, or a utility bill.2.

When it’s time to pay a bill, the payee submits an ACH debit request through an Originating Depository Financial Institution or ODFI-approved processing partner-which in most cases is their bank or a payment processor like PayPal or Dwolla.

Once it’s processed, the ACH debit request instructs the ACH network to pull the requested funds from their customer’s account at the given time intervals.

For transactions without errors, the ODFI and RDFI settle per the ODFI’s requested deadline.

Post Idea #3: Michael Barr

Mr. Barr, the dean of the University of Michigan’s public policy school, could have better luck in securing widespread support because he is seen as more moderate.

“Barr has strong support from across the political spectrum,” the president said in a statement announcing the decision.

Mr. Barr has indicated he will sign on to an ethics pledge that could help ease concerns about his ties to the financial technology industry, said a person familiar with the matter who was not authorized to speak publicly.

“Michael Barr has defended Dodd-Frank’s big-bank bailout mechanism, which enshrined into law taxpayer bailouts of banks,” Mr. Toomey said in a statement.

Ian Katz, managing director at the research and advisory firm Capital Alpha, on Friday put Mr. Barr’s chance of confirmation at 60 percent, because he is more moderate than Ms. Raskin and a known entity to the banking industry.

Mr. Barr completes Mr. Biden’s slate of candidates for the central bank’s five open positions.

Mr. Biden said he would work with the committee to get Mr. Barr through his first vote quickly, and he called for swift confirmation of the others.

Biden Picks Michael Barr For Fed’S Bank Regulation Post

WASHINGTON – President Joe Biden said Friday he plans to nominate Michael Barr, the dean of the University of Michigan’s public policy school, to be the Federal Reserve’s vice chairman of supervision.

The selection of Barr comes after Biden’s first choice for the Fed post, Sarah Bloom Raskin, withdrew her nomination a month ago in the face of opposition from Republicans and one Democrat, Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia.

The Democratic president said that Barr “Has spent his career protecting consumers, and during his time at Treasury, played a critical role in creating both the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the position for which I am nominating him.”

Barr, a Rhodes Scholar who clerked for Justice David Souter on the Supreme Court, also served during the Clinton administration at the White House, the Treasury Department and the State Department.

Despite those credentials, some liberal critics last year blocked Barr’s candidacy to become the Biden administration’s comptroller of the currency, a position that is responsible for regulating national banks.

Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown, the Democratic chairman of the Banking Committee, voiced full support for Barr.”Michael Barr understands the importance of this role at this critical time in our economic recovery,” Brown said.

Others offer strong praise for Barr and say he appears well suited for the Fed position.

President Joe Biden will nominate Michael Barr, a former Treasury Department official, to be the Federal Reserve’s top regulator in charge of big banks.

It would make the leading financial laws author perhaps the most powerful U.S. bank regulator: the Fed vice chair of supervision.

Barr served as assistant Treasury secretary for financial institutions during the Obama administration, where he helped design the 2010 Dodd-Frank Act.

Among its many provisions aimed at protecting the economy from future calamity, Dodd-Frank produced both the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the Fed’s vice chair for supervision.

“He was instrumental in the passage of Dodd-Frank, to ensure a future financial crisis would not create devastating economic hardship for working families,” Biden said in a statement Friday morning accompanying the formal White House announcement.

That may be an oblique acknowledgement of the difficulties the administration has faced in trying to advance some of its nominees for financial regulatory posts in a Senate split 50-50.

Sarah Bloom Raskin, Biden’s first pick to be the Fed’s bank regulator, withdrew her candidacy last month.

Biden Picks Barr As Fed Vice Chair For Supervision

President Joe Biden announced, on April 15, 2022, his intent to to nominate Michael Barr as the Federal Reserve Board’s next vice chair for supervision, a key banking regulatory post.

Biden hailed Barr for a “Career protecting consumers,” especially his “Critical role” in creating the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the position for which he is being nominated now, and in securing the passage of the Dodd-Frank Act.

Michael S. Barr is currently a law professor at the University of Michigan Law School and the founder and faculty director of the University of Michigan’s Center on Finance, Law & Policy.

Barr served in the Obama administration as the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s assistant secretary for financial institutions, and the White House press release calls him “a key architect” of the Dodd-Frank Act.

In the Clinton administration, Barr served as Treasury Secretary Robert E. Rubin’s special assistant, as deputy assistant secretary of the Treasury, as special adviser to President Clinton, and as a special adviser and counselor on the policy planning staff at the U.S. Department of State.

Barr had been mentioned in 2021 as a possible pick by Biden to be Comptroller of the Currency, but he faced opposition from the left wing of the Democratic Party over concerns that he was too close to Wall Street.

Still, the White House is hoping that Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts will emerge as a key supporter, given her past praise of Barr’s work on creating Dodd-Frank and the CFPB. However, while he is seen as a much more centrist choice than Raskin, a Republican Congressional aide told CNBC that Barr is likely to receive many nay votes from Senate Republicans based on his work crafting what many of them view as excessive financial regulations.

Fed Regulatory Nominee Michael Barr In His Own Words

An alum of both the Clinton and Obama administrations, where he served in the Treasury Department, Mr. Barr helped shape the Dodd-Frank financial reform in 2010 and has written extensively on financial regulation.

Mr. Barr has called for regulators to remain vigilant about asset bubbles, the use of leverage and other risks to stability, more than a decade after the financial crisis.

Mr. Barr has spoken and written favorably about the stepped-up regulations for banks and other financial institutions enacted after the 2007-09 crisis.

In a 2017 article, Mr. Barr highlighted a few areas of the financial system that concerned him.

Mr. Barr has also written extensively on ways the government can improve financial institutions’ treatment of poor people.

While working on financial reform during the Obama administration, Mr. Barr pushed for the creation of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, earning plaudits from progressives and the ire of lenders.

“At a minimum, significant conditions on arbitration agreements are needed,” Mr. Barr wrote.

‘First Lady’ Drama Spotlights Roosevelt, Ford, Obama Spouses

LOS ANGELES – “The First Lady” presents three influential women, three acclaimed actors playing them, and a century of history encompassing wars, presidential scandal and America’s stubborn gender and race fault lines.

While its subjects – Eleanor Roosevelt, Betty Ford and Michelle Obama – each have a “Compelling and gripping” story, the sum is even greater, Bier said of her first biographical project.

In their younger iterations, the future first ladies are played by Eliza Scanlen, Kristine Froseth and Jayme Lawson.

The presidents – secondary to their wives in this telling – are portrayed by Kiefer Sutherland as Franklin D. Roosevelt; Aaron Eckhart as Gerald Ford and O-T Fagbenle as Barack Obama.

Ford and Obama are depicted as deeply reluctant to make the White House their temporary home – Ford because she had spent so long in the political trenches after giving up her own dreams, Obama because she feared for her husband’s safety as the first Black president.

With the three first lady’s scenes to be shot independently, Bier suggested creation of a “Cohesive script for each.” Even then, changes were made along the way, as Ford, then Obama and Roosevelt were filmed one after the other.

“The First Lady” is envisioned as an ongoing anthology series, with new presidential spouses part of future editions.

Luc Donckerwolke Named World Car Person Of The Year 2022

The accolade recognizes automotive industry professionals who have made a significant impact with their contributions in the year leading up to the award.

The World Car Awards jury members representing 102 journalists from 33 countries cited Donckerwolke’s role overseeing innovative new models, including Hyundai IONIQ 5, Kia EV6 and Genesis GV60, as the principal reason for honoring him this year.

Donckerwolke’s 30-year career as an automotive designer has enabled him to gain worldwide experience working for many prestigious brands, including Bentley, Lamborghini, Skoda, Seat and Audi.

A passionate automotive aficionado and collector, Donckerwolke also takes great pride in his multi-cultural background and speaks 8 languages.

“I am deeply honored to receive the Person of the Year award and would like to thank all of the jury members and the valued team at Hyundai Motor Group, without whom this would not have been possible. I have worked for many companies and brands over my career and I’m delighted at the recognition the Hyundai, Kia and Genesis brands have received. They are a true reflection of the effort of all of the Group employees, retailers and partners who have worked steadfastly to develop a strong lineup of compelling and relevant vehicles on sale in over 200 countries worldwide.”

“Since joining the Group as CCO in 2016, we have not only continued the upward trajectory of both the Hyundai and Kia brands but also introduced a new luxury brand, Genesis. Since its introduction, the Genesis brand has grown to receive many accolades, and I am privileged to be part of the creation, launch and development of the brand alongside many of my esteemed colleagues. Thank you again for this fantastic honor.”

Hyundai/Genesis Design Chief Luc Donckerwolke Resigns

Hyundai chief designer Luc Donckerwolke has resigned effective immediately, Automotive News and other publications are reporting today.

Donckerwolke had been with Hyundai and Genesis since 2016 and is credited with a radical shift in design.

He became chief design officer of Hyundai Motor Group, including Hyundai, Genesis, and Kia, in 2018.No reason for the departure was given.

In a surprise move, Luc Donckerwolke, 54, has left the Hyundai Group, where he oversaw global design activities.

He had joined Hyundai and Genesis in January 2016 and took over as global design chief for all brands, including Kia, in October 2018, succeeding Peter Schreyer in this position.

In Sant’Agata Bolognese, Donckerwolke worked on the final iterations of the Diablo and the Gallardo; the Murciélago, probably the purest Lamborghini ever built, is 100 percent a Donckerwolke design.

At Genesis, a luxury brand especially close to his heart, he created an entirely new design language characterized by two lines stretching from the head- to the taillights; his influence is visible in the concept cars GV80, Essentia, and Mint as well as the facelifted G90 and the all-new GV80 and G80.Donckerwolke is reported to be leaving Hyundai on very amicable terms, with no current plans to join another company.

Hyundai Genesis

The Hyundai Genesis is an executive four-door, five passenger, rear or all-wheel-drive full-size luxury sedan manufactured and marketed by Hyundai.

The Hyundai Genesis debuted in 2008 until Genesis spun off as a separate entity in 2017, rebadging the vehicle as the G80. Introduced in concept form at the 2007 New York International Auto Show, and internally designated as the BH model, the Genesis was expected to cost $533 million to develop.

On 4 November 2015, Hyundai officially separated Genesis into its own luxury division, Genesis Motor.

Hyundai reportedly benchmarked the BMW 5 Series sedan during the Genesis’ development; the company’s press release indicates the Genesis body in white exceeds the BMW in torsional rigidity by 14%. The production Genesis sedan received a five-star crash rating in every category from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

As part of the US product launch, Hyundai Motor America and Carbonfund.org unveiled the Genesis Forest Project at the 2008 Los Angeles Auto Show, to offset the entire first year of emissions for all 2009 Hyundai Genesis sedans sold in the United States.

In 2009, the Genesis sold 21,889 units in the U.S. There had been internal discussions within Hyundai about creating a separate brand to feature the Genesis sedan as well as the soon to come Equus sedan in North America, but due to prohibitive costs and potential delays the Genesis and Equus remained tagged with the Hyundai brand until 2016.

A rear wheel drive sports car from Hyundai, dubbed Hyundai Genesis Coupe and sharing the Genesis Sedan’s platform and name, was unveiled at the 2008 New York International Auto Show.

Dairy Queen

Vasari, LLC became the second-largest Dairy Queen operator in the country and operated 70 Dairy Queens across Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico.

In the United States, it operates as American Dairy Queen Corp. At the end of fiscal year 2014, Dairy Queen reported over 6,400 stores in more than 25 countries; about 4,500 of them were in the United States.

IDQ is the parent company of American Dairy Queen Corporation, Dairy Queen Canada Inc., and other entities that franchise the Dairy Queen concept.

They have often been reflected in stories and memoirs of small-town America, as in Walter Benjamin at the Dairy Queen: Reflections at Sixty and Beyond by Larry McMurtry, Dairy Queen Days by Robert Inman, and Chevrolet Summers, Dairy Queen Nights by Bob Greene.

Since the early 2000s, new or renovated locations which are similar to Brazier restaurants in terms of size and menu selection, but have been updated with the current logo and/or exterior, usually carry the name “DQ Restaurant”, although the website’s store locator still lists the stores that do not carry the “Grill & Chill” name as “Dairy Queen Brazier” and the smaller stores “Dairy Queen Ltd Brazier” and “Dairy Queen Stores”.

Texas is home to the largest number of Dairy Queens in the U.S. All Texas Dairy Queen restaurants are owned and operated by franchisees.

Dennis the Menace appeared in Dairy Queen marketing from 1971 until December 2002, when he was dropped because Dairy Queen felt children could no longer relate to him.

DQ Dip Cones Are Only 75 Cents Thru April 24; Plus A Brief History Of America’S Ice Cream Darling

One of the few upsides to dealing with thick humidity is how it provides a perfect excuse to eat ice-cold treats like soft-serve ice cream.

Dairy Queen announced that they’re rolling back the price of its small, soft-serve ice cream cones to 75 cents per cone for all of its available flavors.

The DQ ice cream cones come in three flavors: plain vanilla for all of us basic bastards and bitches, chocolate-dipped vanilla and the new fruity blast flavor announced last week on the Twitter page for DQ’s Texas chain.

The owner of Smitty’s Grill near Texas A&M University, Omar Smith, installed a soft-serve ice cream machine in his cafe and it became a big hit.

Two years later, the Dairy Queen chain offered Smith a chance to turn his entire operation into a Dairy Queen restaurant.

According a book by by Anne Cooper Funderburg, Chocolate, Strawberry and Vanilla: A History of American Ice Cream, Sherb Noble and J.F. McCullough developed the first recipe for soft-serve ice cream in 1938 and tested the product with an “All you can eat” ice cream event at a shop in Kankakee, Illinois.

The menu only offered ice cream items in pints, quarts and sundaes as well as cones that cost a nickel for a triple-decker serving.

Dairy Queen’S New Poolside Punch Will Help You Channel Summer A Bit Early

Dairy Queen is getting ready for summer earlier than ever with a brand new drink made for sipping poolside on a hot day.

The new Poolside Punch Twisty Misty Slush features ice-cold layers of blue raspberry and pink punch flavors twisted together, which DQ says tastes like summer in a cup and can transport you to a tropical cabana or poolside resort regardless of where you’ll be spending your summer.

Dairy Queen doesn’t say how long the new drink will be on the menu, but it’s safe to say it will be sticking around at least into the summer.

While the Poolside Punch Twisty Misty Slush is clearly made for summer, it’s actually on Dairy Queen’s new spring menu, which also includes a S’mores Shake and new dipped cone flavor.

The S’mores Shake is made with marshmallow, graham and chocolatey shavings blended with DQ’s vanilla soft serve, while the new Fruity Blast Dipped Cone is a creamy vanilla soft-serve cone dipped in a light purple coating that’s flavored like fruity cereal.

While they’re obviously known for their desserts, DQ also has a pretty extensive food menu, including a new line of burgers to pair with your ice cream treats this summer.

The new Signature Stackburgers come in five flavor varieties as one-third pound doubles and one-half pound triples.

Krispy Kreme Offering A Dozen Donuts For The Average Cost Of A Gallon Of Gas

The donut chain Krispy Kreme knows a thing or two about holes, including the ones higher prices are making in consumers’ budgets.

Starting Wednesday, and for the next three Wednesdays, customers can buy a dozen glazed donuts for the same price that an average gallon of gas cost nationally on the preceding Monday.

Krispy Kreme would like to avoid holes in its own budget, as prices for commodities and wages continue to rise.

Tristano says a couple dozen donuts for the price of a few might entice managers trying to ease the transition.

“When you buy a dozen donuts, you’re typically sharing them,” he said.

Running the promotion for only four weeks put Krispy Kreme right in our psychological sweet spot.

“When a consumer starts to establish a pattern over a four-week period, generally speaking, [it] is likely to continue even when the price of donuts is up.”

Krispy Kreme

On March 4, 2009, the SEC issued a cease and desist order against Krispy Kreme for its actions inflating their revenues and engaging in illicit activities regarding the purchasing of its own stores to prop up revenues and setting up mechanisms to guarantee that it beat earnings estimates by $0.01 which eventually resulted in Krispy Kreme reducing net income over two years by over $10.5 million.

In December 2017, Krispy Kreme moved its corporate operations to Charlotte, North Carolina; while Winston-Salem will retain the World Headquarters and maintain the Krispy Kreme Support Center.

The company went public again on the Nasdaq on July 1, 2021, under the name Krispy Kreme Inc. The first Krispy Kreme store to open outside North America was in Penrith, Australia, in Sydney.

Since 2012, Krispy Kreme doughnuts have been available through all 7-Eleven stores in the eastern states of Australia after announcing partnership with Krispy Kreme Australia in late 2011.

On November 26, 2014, Krispy Kreme opened their first store in Western Australia with a new store opening in Whitfords, Western Australia.

On May 18, 2015, Krispy Kreme announced it has signed a development agreement with KK Doughnuts SA Ltd., to open 31 Krispy Kreme shops in South Africa over the next five years.

On September 26, 2018, Krispy Kreme opened its first store in Dublin, Ireland, which has since become the most profitable store worldwide.

Krispy Kreme would like to avoid holes in its own budget, as prices for commodities and wages continue to rise.

“They’re giving people another reason to come into the store for the next four weeks.” Krispy Kreme is also counting on some customers who come for the glazed donuts to pick up some other varieties along with them.

Krispy Kreme To Sell A Dozen Doughnuts For The Price Of A Gallon Of Gas

Krispy Kreme announced it will sell a dozen glazed doughnuts for the price of one gallon of gas on Wednesdays, starting April 13.”While Americans deal with the rising PPG – price per gallon – of gasoline, we’re lowering our PPOG – price per Original Glaze,” said Chief Marketing Officer Dave Skena in the company’s press release.

Krispy Kreme will pull the average national gas price the Monday prior from AAA’s gas price tracker and set the price of a dozen Original Glazed doughnuts accordingly for that Wednesday.

” We hope providing a little doughnut deflation will allow them to share some smiles during a difficult time,” said Skena in the statement.

Customers can visit the Krispy Kreme site to find out if their local shop is participating in the offer.

Orders can be placed in-store, in the drive-thru, online, or through the app.

Krispy Kreme wants to take the edge off higher gas prices by lowering doughnut prices.

Every Wednesday from April 13 through May 4, Krispy Kreme will sell a dozen original glazed doughnuts for the price of a gallon of regular gas.

Each week, the chain will use Monday’s national average gas price to set the promotional cost for its doughnuts.

A dozen original glazed Krispy Kreme doughnuts will cost $4.11.

In January, after the Red Cross said it was experiencing the worst blood shortage in over a decade, Krispy Kreme gave away doughnuts to blood donors.

Why Krispy Kremes gives away its signature doughnuts When Krispy Kreme gives away free doughnuts, it usually offers up the original glazed doughnut, rather than other flavors or specialty items.

“If gas prices plummeted over the next four weeks, even though it wouldn’t be as ‘good’ for us, we’d be so happy to sell people two-dollar doughnuts.”

Krispy Kreme Is Offering A Dozen Glazed Doughnuts For The Price Of A Gallon Of Gas

The national average for a gallon of gas on April 13 costs $4.11, and that’s also what people are paying today for a dozen original glazed doughnuts from Krispy Kreme.

In a marketing ploy supposedly meant to help offset skyrocketing gas prices nationwide due in part to Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine, the North Carolina chain is tapping into its “Strategic doughnut reserve” every Wednesday, from April 13 through May 4, and offering a dozen glazed doughnuts for the price of a gallon of regular unleaded gas.

The price of gas continually fluctuates according to energy markets worldwide, but has averaged between $4.08 per gallon to as high as $4.30 per gallon over the past month.

A dozen glazed doughnuts from Krispy Kreme typically costs around $12 in Atlanta.

“While Americans deal with the rising PPG – price per gallon – of gasoline, we’re lowering our PPOG – price per Original Glaze,” chief marketing officer Dave Skena says in a press release.

Apparently Krispy Kreme considers not including a dozen doughnuts at the breakfast table as one of those “Tough tradeoffs” Americans now face these days.

Krispy Kreme plans to announce its price per dozen each Wednesday through May 4 via Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Krispy Kreme Ties Donut Price To Gallon Of Gas Amid Inflation

As US gas prices hover near record highs, Krispy Kreme is aiming to lure cash-strapped motorists with the promise of a box of donuts for the same price as a gallon of unleaded.

The North Carolina-based chain said it will use the national average price of a gallon of gas as the benchmark for the price of a dozen glazed donuts.

The discounted boxes will be available at stores and online each Wednesday through May 4 – with prices updated each preceding Monday to reflect gas prices.

“Inflation and high gasoline prices are serious and forcing families to make tough tradeoffs,” Krispy Kreme chief marketing officer Dave Skena said in a statement.

This week, a dozen donuts from the chain will cost customers $4.11 – the same price listed as the national average cost of a gallon of gas, according to data from AAA. The same box of donuts generally costs about $10. The promotion was revealed this week ahead of the Labor Department’s release of its Consumer Price Index for March, which showed inflation surged to 8.5%. Inflation rose at its highest rate since December 1981.

Food prices are also on the rise, regardless of whether Americans choose to eat at home or buy meals or snacks from companies such as Krispy Kreme.

The price of groceries jumped about 10% in March, while food purchased outside the home jumped 6.9%. Overall, the cost of food jumped 8.8% in March compared to the same month last year.

Post Idea #11: Flashlight

Flashlights / Safety & Security: Tools & Home Improvement

A mini flashlight is an extremely useful tool for home, professional, and extra-curricular use.

You can use it for tactical training, emergencies, night reading, kids’ activities, at clinics and construction sites, during various outdoor activities and adventures, and more.

Mini flashlights are available in a wide range of colors and quantities and offer many special features for added convenience and safety.

Depending on your requirements, you can choose from a single premium quality mini flashlight, a pack of six flashlights in assorted colors, a pack of ten flashlights that offer high durability, and more.

A typical flashlight consists of the light source mounted in a reflector, a transparent cover to protect the light source and reflector, a battery, and a switch, all enclosed in a case.

In 1922 there were an estimated 10 million flashlight users in the United States, with annual sales of renewal batteries and flashlights at $20 million, comparable to sales of many line-operated electrical appliances.

An LED flashlight has a longer battery life than an incandescent flashlight with comparable output.

Some types allow the user to adjust the angle of the head. The Fulton MX991/U Flashlight was an angle-head flashlight issued to US military personnel; similar style lights remain popular.

People working in hazardous areas with significant concentrations of flammable gases or dusts, such as mines, engine rooms of ships, chemical plants, or grain elevators, use “Nonincendive”, “Intrinsically safe”, or “Explosion-proof” flashlights constructed so that any spark in the flashlight is not likely to set off an explosion outside the light.

Variable focus “Zoom” or “Flood to throw” lights may move the reflector or lens or they may move the emitter; moving the emitter presents the designer with the problem of maintaining heat dissipation for the LED. The original 1890s flashlights used a metal ring around the fiber body of the flashlight as one contact of a switch; the second contact was a movable metal loop that could be flipped down to touch the ring, completing the circuit.

A desirable plastic for manufacturing flashlights allows for ease of molding and adequate mechanical properties of the finished flashlight case.

Espresso Martini Cocktail Recipe

If you’re looking for a pick-me-up post-dinner, the Espresso Martini is here to jolt you awake with its boozy magical powers.

Bradsell complied, mixing vodka with espresso and coffee liqueur, and the Espresso Martini was born.

If you don’t have an espresso machine, using cold brew concentrate is an easy hack.

The strongly flavored coffee subs admirably for fresh espresso and keeps the temperature just right.

The espresso is joined by coffee liqueur, usually Kahlúa, which adds another rich vein of coffee flavor to the cocktail.

Try an Espresso Martini on your next late-night outing, or order one for brunch when a Bloody Mary won’t cut it.

Add vodka, coffee liqueur, espresso and simple syrup to a shaker filled with ice and shake until well-chilled.

Espresso Martini Drink Recipe – Kahlúa

How long does it take to make an Espresso Martini? Less than two minutes! Probably under one minute, once you get the hang of it.

Adds sweetness to your Espresso Martini, balancing out the other ingredients.

How do I make my Espresso Martini feel more creamy?

Espresso roasted coffee! Using good quality medium roasted beans, which you can grind up yourself at home, also works well.

What should the perfect Espresso Martini taste like?

A well-mixed Espresso Martini is sweet, with a velvety mouth-feel.

Many people like to finish off their Espresso Martini’s by adding three coffee beans on top of the froth / foam.

Espresso Martini Recipe

The famous Espresso Martini is a top drink and a classic Kahlua cocktail.

The Espresso Martini is a cocktail with a story, a history and a legacy.

Prepare the espresso coffee beforehand and let it chill.

When shaking: Remember to wake the drink to life, do not rock it to bed.

When straining: Make sure to pour the drink brisk and swift from your shaker.

That will help getting all that beautiful foam out and land on top of your drink.

Legend says that when late bartender legend Dick Bradsell invented the Espresso Martini a super model walked up to him and said the famous words:”Can you please make something that will wake me up and then f**k me up?”.

Espresso Martini Recipe

Coffee is not recommended for making an espresso martini since it is lighter and flavor and less potent, making the drink watery.

Recipe Variations No espresso machine? Brew coffee in a stovetop espresso pot or use a ready-to-drink espresso or cold-brew coffee concentrate.

Many espresso martini recipes use as much as one ounce of simple syrup instead of chocolate liqueur.

Kick your espresso martini up another notch and use an espresso-flavored vodka.

Light and vanilla rums are good vodka substitutes in the espresso martini.

Between the caffeine and alcohol, the espresso martini is not a gentle cocktail.

The frothy top is one of the best parts of an espresso martini.

Espresso Martini Recipe

Mission accomplished: this chilled, refreshing cocktail combines espresso coffee, coffee liquor, and simple syrup.

You could also use a cold brew concentrate, as using regular strength coffee will lead to a weaker-tasting drink.

The coffee liqueur adds a touch of sweetness and a concentrated coffee flavor.

The most common is Kahlúa, but you can use any coffee liquor you have or find at the store.

Finally, your simple syrup brings a little more sweet to balance out the bitter of the espresso.

It’s very easy to adjust the sweetness of your cocktail to taste by varying the amount of simple syrup.

Start light here, since it’s easy to add more, or leave it out entirely if you prefer a more bitter cocktail.

Espresso Martini

Espresso Martini is what you make for after dinner drinks, or when you need a pick-me-up but don’t want to fall behind the pack on a night out with your mates! Dangerously drinkable with a good slog of liquor, this coffee cocktail is made with espresso, vodka and Kahlua.

Here’s what you need for an espresso martini – just espresso coffee, vodka and Kahlua!

The best substitute for Kahlua is an alternative brand of coffee liquor.

Kahlua has a coffee flavour which is necessary for a great Espresso Martini, whereas Baileys tastes like sweet rum flavoured cream.

To get the lovely signature frothy layer on the surface of your Espresso Martini, you need to use real espresso coffee from a proper coffee machine that gives you a nice crema.

Using instant coffee granules, a French Press or similar won’t give you the same result, no matter how vigorously you shake the cocktail shaker.

If you’re a coffee lover, go all out with Tiramisu, everybody’s favourite coffee flavoured Italian dessert.

We provide dedicated, on-location systems to strategic partners who require quantum computing on-site.

To date, we have created installations in Fraunhofer, Germany and Tokyo, Japan.

Further installations the Cleveland Clinic in the US, Yonsei in Korea, and Quebec, Canada will soon follow.

In addition to this truly global fleet, we have over 20 systems in our Poughkeepsie and Yorktown locations, where we have provided access to our quantum systems on the cloud since 2016.

Quantum Simulator

Quantum simulators permit the study of quantum system in a programmable fashion.

Quantum simulators may be contrasted with generally programmable “Digital” quantum computers, which would be capable of solving a wider class of quantum problems.

A universal quantum simulator is a quantum computer proposed by Yuri Manin in 1980 and Richard Feynman in 1982.

A quantum system of many particles could be simulated by a quantum computer using a number of quantum bits similar to the number of particles in the original system.

Quantum simulators have been realized on a number of experimental platforms, including systems of ultracold quantum gases, polar molecules, trapped ions, photonic systems, quantum dots, and superconducting circuits.

Quantum simulators can solve problems which are difficult to simulate on classical computers because they directly exploit quantum properties of real particles.

Recently quantum simulators have been used to obtain time crystals and quantum spin liquids.

Full State Quantum Simulator

The QDK provides a full state simulator that simulates a quantum machine on your local computer.

You can use the full state simulator to run and debug quantum algorithms written in Q#, utilizing up to 30 qubits.

The full state simulator in its functionality is similar to the quantum simulator used in the LIQ$Ui|rangle$ platform from Microsoft Research.

You expose the full state simulator via the QuantumSimulator class.

When running a Q# program from the command line, the full state simulator is the default target machine.

By default, the full state simulator uses a random number generator to simulate quantum randomness.

The full state simulator uses OpenMP to parallelize the linear algebra required.

Ancient Namibian Stone Could Hold Key To Future Quantum Computers

A special form of light made using an ancient Namibian gemstone could be the key to new light-based quantum computers, which could solve long-held scientific mysteries, according to new research led by the University of St Andrews.

This interaction is crucial because this is what allows the creation of quantum simulators, a special type of quantum computer, where information is stored in quantum bits.

These quantum bits, unlike the binary bits in classical computers that can only be 0 or 1, can take any value between 0 and 1.

Project lead Dr. Hamid Ohadi, of the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of St Andrews, says that “Making a quantum simulator with light is the holy grail of science. We have taken a huge leap towards this by creating Rydberg polaritons, the key ingredient of it.”

One of the leading authors Dr. Sai Kiran Rajendran, of the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of St Andrews, says that “Purchasing the stone on eBay was easy. The challenge was to make Rydberg polaritons that exist in an extremely narrow color range.”

The team is currently further refining these methods in order to explore the possibility of making quantum circuits, which are the next ingredient for quantum simulators.

World Quantum Day: Bank Of Canada In Quantum Simulation Of Cryptocurrency POC With Multiverse

Toronto – April 14, 2022 – The Bank of Canada, a G7 central bank, and Multiverse Computing, a developer of quantum computing solutions for the financial industry and other sectors, announced completion of a proof-of-concept project using quantum computing to simulate the adoption of cryptocurrency as a method of payment by non-financial firms.

“We are proud to be a trusted partner of the first G7 central bank to explore modelling of complex networks and cryptocurrencies through the use of quantum computing,” said Sam Mugel, CTO at Multiverse Computing.

“The results of the simulation are very intriguing and insightful as stakeholders consider further research in the domain. Thanks to the algorithm we developed together with our partners at the Bank of Canada, we have been able to model a complex system reliably and accurately given the current state of quantum computing capabilities.”

Multiverse Computing conducted its innovative work related to applying quantum computing for modelling complex economic interactions in a research project with the Bank of Canada.

“We wanted to test the power of quantum computing on a research case that is hard to solve using classical computing techniques,” said Maryam Haghighi, Director, Data Science at the Bank of Canada.

Multiverse Computing is a leading quantum software company that applies quantum and quantum-inspired solutions to tackle complex problems in finance to deliver value today and enable a more resilient and prosperous economy.

The company’s expertise in quantum control and computational methods as well as finance means it can secure maximum results from current quantum devices.

Quantum Computing Firm Simulates Adoption Of Crypto Payments

“We wanted to test the power of quantum computing on a research case that is hard to solve using classical computing techniques,” said Maryam Haghighi.

Multiverse Computing, a quantum computing firm with offices in Canada and Spain, has partnered with the Bank of Canada to run simulations on how the adoption of cryptocurrency might proceed as a payment method.

In a Thursday announcement, Multiverse Computing said it used its equipment as part of a proof-of-concept project with the Bank of Canada to generate examples of how non-financial firms may end up adopting crypto.

“We wanted to test the power of quantum computing on a research case that is hard to solve using classical computing techniques,” said the Bank of Canada’s director of data science, Maryam Haghighi.

“This collaboration helped us learn more about how quantum computing can provide new insights into economic problems by carrying out complex simulations on quantum hardware.”

With advancements in quantum computing often come many suggesting that the technology could be used to “Crack” the security of Bitcoin or other blockchains by breaking the underlying cryptography.

In February, banking giant JPMorgan Chase released research on a blockchain network resistant to quantum computing attacks.

What Is A Quantum Simulator?

The types of quantum hardware proposed to perform such simulations are as hugely varying as the problems they aim to solve: trapped ions [14-19], cold atoms in optical lattices [20-22], liquid and solid-state NMR [23-27], photons [28-33], quantum dots [34-36], superconducting circuits [6, 37-42], and NV centres [43, 44]. At the time of writing, astonishing levels of control in proof-of-principle experiments suggest that quantum simulation is transitioning from a theoretical dream into a credible possibility.

To complete the definition of a quantum simulator we need to define what is meant by a quantum device.

Many others [49, 50] take the quantum in quantum simulator to relate to the model being simulated as well as to the simulating device.

In common with definitions of quantum computation, our assignment of the quantum in quantum simulator based only on the device avoids the assumption that only simulating quantum models is hard enough to potentially benefit from a quantum device.

In addition to the widely-accepted need for quantum devices for the quantum models discussed above, there are calls and proposals for quantum devices to simulate classical models [117, 118], for example, molecular dynamics and lattice gas models [120, 121]. This also applies to any simulation that reduces to solving an eigenvalue equation or a set of linear equations.

It is possible that the experimental difficulty of scaling up quantum simulation hardware might cause an overhead such that a quantum device does not surpass the accuracy obtained by a classical algorithm that in principle does not scale as well but runs on ever-improving hardware obeying Moore’s law.7 When are quantum simulators trustworthy?

The majority of the current effort on quantum simulation is, firstly, in matching models of interest to a suitable quantum device with which to perform a simulation [49, 50]. Secondly, experimentalists demonstrate a high level of control and flexibility with a simulator, performing some of the simple fail-able tests mentioned above [18, 22, 33]. This is very much along the lines of the five goals set out by Cirac and Zoller in 2012 , and great successes have led to claims that we are now able to perform simulations on a quantum device that we are unable to do on a classical device.

Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board is a governmental agency of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, founded in 2004 as the state licensing and the regulatory agency responsible for overseeing slot machines and casino gambling in the state.

The first completely new agency created in Pennsylvania in over 30 years, the PGCB administers the Pennsylvania Race Horse Development and Gaming Act, also known as “Act 71”, and its regulations to assure public trust and confidence in the credibility and integrity of casinos in Pennsylvania.

In December 2020, Pennsylvania became the first state to use a self-exclusion tool for online gamblers.

In Pennsylvania, about 200,000 gamblers have had problem gaming issues.

The board consists of seven voting members, three of which are appointed by the Governor of Pennsylvania and four of which are appointed by the leadership of the Pennsylvania General Assembly.

Each month, Pennsylvania casinos and slot-machine operators give the Board a list of the “Payouts” on each of their machines: how often and how much they pay per average play.

The Gaming Act also requires a role in gaming oversight by the State Police, Department of Revenue and Attorney General, whose costs are also reimbursed from slot machine revenues.

Industrial Gases

Industrial gases are used in many industries around the clock: in the chemical industry, in science and research, in the food industry, in construction, and trades and crafts, in rubber and plastics processing and many other industries – whenever things have to be welded, frozen, powered, heated, industrially cleaned, ventilated and tested.

That’s why our world-scale plants are a key element of the BASF Verbund, especially at the Ludwigshafen site.

Industrial Gas

Industrial gas is sold to other industrial enterprises; typically comprising large orders to corporate industrial clients, covering a size range from building a process facility or pipeline down to cylinder gas supply.

In natural-gas processing, cryogenic technologies are used to remove nitrogen from natural gas in a Nitrogen Rejection Unit; a process that can also be used to produce helium from natural gas where natural gas fields contain sufficient helium to make this economic.

An industrial gas company may supply the plant and equipment to produce the gas rather than the gas itself.

Some materials are dangerous to use as a gas; for example, fluorine is highly reactive and industrial chemistry requiring fluorine often uses hydrogen fluoride instead. Another approach to overcoming gas reactivity is to generate the gas as and when required, which is done, for example, with ozone.

In principle any gas or gas mixture sold by the “Industrial gases industry” probably has some industrial use and might be termed an “Industrial gas”.

Small scale gas supply of hand-carried containers is sometimes not considered to be industrial gas as the use is considered personal rather than industrial; and suppliers are not always gas specialists.

Any gas is likely to be considered an industrial gas if it is put in a gas cylinder.

The new Fairfax Amazon Fresh has hundreds of full- and part-time employees and the company will soon be staffing-up for its three new stores opening in Lorton, Manassas and Arlington.

Amazon Fresh Fairfax, which is located at 10360 Fairfax Blvd., will be open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

Amazon Fresh Deepens Its Focus On Just Walk Out Technology

Dive Brief: Amazon announced on Thursday that it has opened a new Fresh grocery store in greater Washington, D.C., equipped with its Just Walk Out checkout-free technology.

That focus is increasingly shifting toward the Just Walk Out system, suggesting Amazon sees the technology as key to its budding grocery brand going forward.

Amazon opened its first Fresh store with Just Walk Out technology in Bellevue, Washington, last June, and has since brought the service to other locations in the chain.

The Fairfax store is the company’s first full-size store on the East Coast to incorporate the futuristic checkout system, according to a LinkedIn post by a real estate executive with Amazon Fresh.

Amazon’s Just Walk Out system uses ceiling-mounted cameras and artificial intelligence to track shoppers’ selections as they walk around the store and automatically charges them when they exit.

Amazon opened its first Amazon Fresh store near the nation’s capital last May, when it began serving customers at a location in Franconia, Virginia, after debuting the banner in September 2020 in Woodland Hills, California.

At 30,000 square feet, the newly opened store in Fairfax, Virginia, is four times as large as the Amazon Fresh store in Logan Circle.

Cannabigerol: Uses And Benefits

CBG is growing in popularity as a result of the host of potential benefits the cannabinoid has to offer.

Some strains of cannabis like White CBG, Super Glue CBG, and Jack Frost CBG also have higher CBG content than other strains.

Due to the difficulty of getting CBG, cannabis growers have been experimenting with cross-breeding and genetic manipulation to help cannabis plants produce more CBG. CBG is processed by the body’s endocannabinoid system.

Some promising animal studies show that CBG might ultimately be found useful for the following therapeutic benefits listed below.

You can get the benefits of CBG by using pure CBG oil.

The good news is that you can also get some of the benefits of CBG from using broad-spectrum CBD oils.

CBG has a host of promising potential benefits and more research is being done into easing the production and availability of the cannabinoid.

What Is CBG?

What is CBG? CBG is a cannabinoid, meaning that it’s one of the active ingredients in the cannabis plant.

Without CBGA, none of the “Big six” most widely-researched cannabinoids – THC, CBD, CBC, CBN, THCV, or CBG – would exist.

The Effects of CBG. Because CBG is present in such low concentrations in marijuana, it would be impossible for someone to smoke a particular strain and feel any specific effect that they could directly contribute to CBG. By isolating CBG and studying it on its own scientists have been able to determine certain factors about how CBG affects people.

Non-intoxicating: It’s clear that CBG is non-intoxicating, similar to CBD. This can be confusing to people researching the benefits of CBG vs CBD, but the two cannabinoids bind with completely different receptors and work in entirely different ways.

For years, patients have used THC-rich marijuana to treat their glaucoma, but what effect does CBG have on the disease? Studies have shown that cannabigerol, as well as other cannabinoids, works well to reduce intra-ocular pressure when given both topically and systemically.

CBG FAQ What is CBG? CBG, also known as cannabigerol, is a cannabinoid – an active ingredient in cannabis.

What are the effects of CBG? Because it’s present in very small amounts compared to cannabinoid giants like THC and CBD, the CBG in most marijuana strains doesn’t create noticeable effects.

CBG Blocks CBD-Induced Antinausea Effects in Animal ModelsCBG blocked the CBD- and 8-OH-DPAT- induced suppression of acute nausea, again suggesting that CBG is acting on the 5-HT1A receptor to block the 5-HT1A mediated effects of CBD and 8-OH-DPAT. Also of interest is the finding that CBG actually suppressed acute nausea on its own.

207 CBG has been called ‘inactive’ when compared to THC, but it has slight affinity for CB1 receptors, approximately equal to that of CBD.90 Like CBD, it has analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties, indicating that there is scope for developing cannabinoid drugs that do not have the psychoactive properties of THC.208 In one study,209 CBG was evaluated for antitumor efficacy against mouse skin melanoma cells and showed a significant in vivo activity using an methylthiazoltetrazolium-based cell viability assay.

Decisive is the fact that, currently, there is no material on CBG pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics in humans, and clinicians should remain cautious until more definite studies demonstrate the safety and efficacy of CBG. Further pharmacological and preclinical experiments, together with human toxicological and proof of concept studies, should be performed to confirm the number of reports suggesting CBG value in medical practice.

The proposed treatment for so-called Cannabis addiction or withdrawal is oral THC. CBD may also be considered an antidote for THC, as CBD and compounds in the plant tame or inhibit the psychotropic effects of THC. Excellent reviews are available covering numerous clinical trials with oral and inhaled THC for the treatment of over 10 pathologies.

Normally, CBG appears as a relatively low concentration intermediate in the plant, but recent breeding work has yielded cannabis chemotypes lacking in downstream enzymes that express 100% of their phytocannabinoid content as CBG. CBG, the parent phytocannabinoid compound, has a relatively weak partial agonistic effect at CB1 and CB2.CBG may stimulate a range of receptors important for pain, inflammation, and heat sensitization.

CBG has significant antidepressant effects in the rodent tail suspension model and is a mildly antihypertensive agent.

CBG is a strong AEA uptake inhibitor and a powerful agent against MRSA. Finally, CBG behaves as a potent α2-adrenoreceptor agonist, supporting analgesic effects previously noted, and moderate 5-HT1A antagonist suggesting antidepressant properties.

Cannabigerol is one of more than 120 identified cannabinoid compounds found in the plant genus Cannabis.

Cannabigerol is the decarboxylated form of cannabigerolic acid, the parent molecule from which other cannabinoids are synthesized.

During plant growth, most of the cannabigerol is converted into other cannabinoids, primarily tetrahydrocannabinol or cannabidiol, leaving about 1% cannabigerol in the plant.

The biosynthesis of cannabigerol begins by loading hexanoyl-CoA onto a polyketide synthase assembly protein and subsequent condensation with three molecules of malonyl-CoA. This polyketide is cyclized to olivetolic acid via olivetolic acid cyclase, and then prenylated with a ten carbon isoprenoid precursor, geranyl pyrophosphate, using an aromatic prenyltransferase enzyme, geranyl-pyrophosphate-olivetolic acid geranyltransferase, to biosynthesize cannabigerolic acid, which can then be decarboxylated to yield cannabigerol.

Cannabigerol is under laboratory research to determine its pharmacological properties and potential effects in disease conditions.

Contrary to the major psychoactive cannabinoid THC, cannabigerol antagonizes CB1 receptors and is both an α2-adrenergic receptor agonist and moderate 5-HT1A receptor antagonist.

Cannabigerol displays CB1 and CB2 binding affinity, and has been evaluated in laboratory models of colitis.

What Is Cannabigerol? CBG And Its Benefits

Recently, some of the less well-known cannabinoids in cannabis have been getting some attention-mostly thanks to CBD. CBD, or cannabidiol, is a non-intoxicating cannabinoid found in cannabis that tempers some of the side effects of tetrahydrocannabinol, also known as THC. But THC and CBD are just two of the over 100 cannabinoids in cannabis, and CBG or cannabigerol is another one you may be curious about.

Even the US government is curious to learn more about CBG and has started to fund research into pain management and minor cannabinoids including cannabigerol.

Researchers are already learning a lot about the many therapeutic benefits of this non-psychoactive cannabinoid, but how do CBG and CBD compare?

Broad spectrum CBD oils may lose some of the entourage effects, but they retain cannabinoids such as CBG while removing any trace of THC. Benefits of CBG. There is plenty of rumor and speculation out there about THC, CBD, and everything else connected to cannabis, but the existing research on the effects of CBG is actually very promising.

To create just a small amount of CBG and isolate it takes thousands of pounds of biomass because, unlike CBD which might comprise up to 20 percent of a hemp plant, most hemp only contains trace amounts of CBG. Furthermore, the decision to extract as much CBG as possible means extracting less of other cannabinoids.

EcoGen Laboratories has been developing a CBG cultivar since 2017 that has a CBG content of 22 percent weight by volume.

Stem Cell and White CBG can produce up to 20 percent CBG. Panakeia is a no-THC cultivar that was developed for a high CBG content of around 18 percent.

The Pharmacological Case For Cannabigerol

Medical cannabis and individual cannabinoids, such as Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol and cannabidiol, are receiving growing attention in both the media and the scientific literature.

The Cannabis plant produces over 100 different cannabinoids, and cannabigerol serves as the precursor molecule for the most abundant phytocannabinoids.

CBG exhibits affinity and activity characteristics between Δ9-THC and CBD at the cannabinoid receptors but appears to be unique in its interactions with α-2 adrenoceptors and 5-hydroxytryptamine.

Studies indicate that CBG may have therapeutic potential in treating neurologic disorders and inflammatory bowel disease, as well as having antibacterial activity.

This review focuses on the unique pharmacology of CBG, our current knowledge of its possible therapeutic utility, and its potential toxicological hazards.

SIGNIFICANCE STATEMENT: Cannabigerol is currently being marketed as a dietary supplement and, as with cannabidiol before, many claims are being made about its benefits.

Unlike CBD little research has been performed on this unregulated molecule, and much of what is known warrants further investigation to identify potential areas of therapeutic uses and hazards.

Basics Of Hardware-In-The-Loop Simulation

Hardware-in-the-loop simulation is a type of real-time simulation.

You use HIL simulation to test your controller design.

HIL simulation shows how your controller responds in real time to realistic virtual stimuli.

Use HIL simulation to test the design of your controller when you are performing Model-Based Design.

There are several areas in which HIL simulation offers cost savings over validation testing.

You can perform HIL simulation earlier than validation in the MBD workflow so you can identify and redesign for problems relatively early the project.

HIL simulation is more practical than validation for testing your controller’s response to unusual events.

Hardware-In-The-Loop Simulation

The selected HIL hardware is produced by dSPACE GmbH. The MathWorks’ Simulink simulation tool is used in the modelling of the system.

8.3.1 Case study: hardware-in-the-loop simulation for development of a speed-control system for a hydro-turbine and generatorAlthough not an example of concurrent design, the development and commissioning of the fast-acting speed governor system for the hydro-electric generator system discussed in Section 7.5.2.

The electronic control hardware developed for the project had to be tested initially in conjunction with an accurate real-time simulation of the hydraulic, mechanical and electrical components of the system before testing of the controller on site.

The development and promotion of the FMI standard was driven by the need to simplify the creation, storage, exchange, and use/reuse of dynamic system models, from different simulation environments, for MiL/SiL/HiL simulation of cyber-physical systems, as well as other applications.

Tools for the efficient development and testing of physically based dynamic models are of central importance for this and include forward and inverse simulation, parameter sensitivity analysis, system identification, parameter estimation, optimisation and partial system testing through hardware-in-the-loop simulation.

As confidence is built up about some aspects of the design, the virtual prototype may move increasingly towards a ‘hardware-in-the-loop’ simulation where available prototype hardware operates in conjunction with a simulation model to represent parts of the system that are not available at that stage.

Among the consequences of adopting a concurrent approach to design and the growing importance of embedded systems is that virtual prototyping and hardware-in-the-loop simulation.

Hardware-In-The-Loop Simulation

HIL simulation provides an effective platform by adding the complexity of the plant under control to the test platform.

The embedded system to be tested interacts with this plant simulation.

These electrical emulations act as the interface between the plant simulation and the embedded system under test.

The value of each electrically emulated sensor is controlled by the plant simulation and is read by the embedded system under test.

The alternative to HIL simulation for human factors and usability development is to place prototype flight controls in early aircraft prototypes and test for usability during flight test.

In context of automotive applications “Hardware-in-the-loop simulation systems provide such a virtual vehicle for systems validation and verification.” Since in-vehicle driving tests for evaluating performance and diagnostic functionalities of Engine Management Systems are often time-consuming, expensive and not reproducible, HIL simulators allow developers to validate new hardware and software automotive solutions, respecting quality requirements and time-to-market restrictions.

These types of simulation platforms enable the evaluation and testing of large-scale power systems in a realistic emulated environment.

Hardware-In-The-Loop Simulation

You know the first releases of the software embedded in them will fail, but how? Hardware-in-the-loop simulation can substantially lower the cost of finding out.

They “Fake” the embedded system’s I/O and environment with custom code executing on their PC. There are three key differences between such a simulation and a HILS. First, the output of simulations are just squiggly lines plotted on a graph, not hardware signals.

Second, the HILS runs in real time, and third, in a HILS the embedded software runs on the “Real” hardware that you will eventually build into your product, not a workstation.

Is there legacy software you want to reuse? For instance, do you already have a simulation up and running that simply lacks the hardware I/O? Are there ruggedness or environmental issues? How much I/O is available? By and large, a HILS is a laboratory device, so environmentals are often not a driving factor.

These tools are usually operated by knowledgeable staff-the developers of the embedded system’s hardware and software-so ease of use is also a secondary concern.

If you want the embedded software to see real inputs, to “Think” that it’s operating in the real world, and to have the world react properly to its outputs, you have to either include or simulate any hardware that stands between the embedded system and that world.

Thus the labor to implement a servo model in software might cost more than simply including the servo hardware in the simulation.

What Is Hardware-In-The-Loop?

HIL testing is a technique where real signals from a controller are connected to a test system that simulates reality, tricking the controller into thinking it is in the assembled product.

An HIL test replaces the engine with a simulation comprising hardware and software that interacts with real I/O as though the physical engine were present.

Because updates can be made in software, you can quickly incorporate ECU or engine software changes, test a wide breadth of relevant scenarios, and expand test coverage as needed to fearlessly and comprehensively test without risk to a physical, costly system.

For HIL testing to be of value, the quality of the simulation software is of utmost importance.

Simulation software must be paired with hardware that not only accounts for system specifications such as connector type and I/O but also allows for fault insertion and the ability to test real-world scenarios.

This is where you feel the burden of choice as to what hardware and software you will use to ensure maximum test coverage while minimizing time spent on system setup and usability.

To keep pace with rapidly changing market requirements, you are tasked with finding a solution that addresses not only this test but also the next, necessitating testers that are customizable and future-proof.

What Is A Convenience Store?

The following information is from the NACS research report, “Convenience Store Industry Marketing Strategies and Store Formats,” prepared by Gene Gerke of Gerke & Associates, Inc. It describes the characteristics of the different types of convenience stores represented by the data in the report.

The fastest growing segments of the convenience store market are considered by many to be “Nontraditional” stores.

The store sells fast-moving items found in traditional convenience stores, like tobacco, beverages, snacks and confectioneries.

Mini Convenience StoreThis store format, usually 800 to 1,200 square feet, is popular with the oil companies and the emphasis is on gasoline sales.

They differ from the “Mini convenience store” because of a broader product mix and grocery offering, although still limited by traditional convenience store standards.

Most are open 24/7 and these operations are owned by convenience store chains, although oil companies have also built or acquired stores of this size.

In terms of other products and services, these stores usually carry the traditional convenience store items.

Wawa Plans To Double Its Store Count By 2030 By Focusing On Markets In The South

Wawa plans to nearly double its store count to 1,800 locations by 2030, CEO Chris Gheysens told the Philadelphia Business Journal.

He characterized the plan as “The most aggressive growth” in the chain’s history, saying the expansion will include “Traditional” neighborhood stores and “Non-traditional” rest-stop style formats in both existing and new markets.

The chain debuted the concept in December 2020 in Westhampton, New Jersey, where a drive-thru was added to an existing store.

The expansion will include 300 stores in the chain’s existing territory, but Wawa also plans to “Fill in the market” between Virginia and Florida, Gheysens said.

Wawa doesn’t have any stores in North Carolina, South Carolina or Georgia despite ample markets along the I-95 corridor.

Wawa is expected to open its first store in North Carolina in 2024.

The company started as an iron foundry in 1803 and opened its first convenience store in Folsom, Delaware County in 1964.

Convenience Store Sales Return To Pre-Pandemic Levels

Convenience stores in the U.S. overcame a decline in store count and a pandemic-related dip in transactions to post record sales last year, according to NACS. Total in-store sales increased to a record $277.9 billion in 2021, according to newly released NACS State of the Industry data.

“Customers [are] continuing to rely on their local convenience store to fulfill their shopping needs,” the association said.

The record sales came despite a 1.5% decline in the number of convenience stores, which totaled 148,026 stores at the start of 2022.

NACS did not break out food and beverage sales, which traditionally are a huge percentage of the total.

The average in-store basket size increased 6.3% in 2021 to $7.59 and has grown 22.4% over the past two years, making up for a 6.9% decrease in in-store transactions since 2019.

Trio Wanted In Over A Dozen NW Side Convenience Store Robberies

Police are alerting Northwest Side business owners after more than a dozen convenience stores were robbed at gunpoint by as many as three men since February.

In each robbery, someone armed with a handgun enters the store and takes money, liquor and cigarettes by force, Chicago police detectives said in a community alert.

In one case, a man struck the victim in the face with a handgun for trying to press a hold-up alarm, police said.

Police asked anyone with information to call Area Five detectives at 746-7394.

Fort Worth Convenience Store Shooting: 3 Injured At Pink Store

FORT WORTH, Texas – Three people were shot inside a Fort Worth convenience store Thursday afternoon, the second convenience store shooting within 24 hours in the city, police told WFAA. Police were sent to 1701 South Riverside, an address for the convenience store known as the Pink Store.

Investigators with the department told WFAA that three people were shot inside.

A spokesperson for the department told WFAA that it’s not clear if the shooting was a robbery.

Thursday’s shooting was the second convenience store shooting the city has seen within 24 hours.

Two people were shot and are expected to be OK. The location is roughly one mile from the Pink Store.

Fort Worth Police Chief Neil Noakes has promised to reduce violent crime by 10% within one year.

A department spokesperson said the drive-by shooting on Bessie was within a hot spot, but said Thursday’s shooting wasn’t.

Convenience Store

Prices in a convenience store are often higher than those at a supermarket, mass merchandise store or auto supply store, as convenience stores order smaller quantities of inventory at higher per-unit prices from wholesalers.

Product containers in a convenience store are often smaller with reduced product quantity to allow more products on the store shelves.

The Australasian Association of Convenience Stores, the peak body for Australian Convenience Stores, defines a convenience store as a “Retail business with the primary emphasis placed on providing the public with a convenient location to quickly purchase from an array of consumable products, predominantly food and beverages, services as well as petrol.” The product mix includes: food to go, beverages, dispensed/barista coffee, snacks, tobacco, basic groceries, ice, petrol and carwash.

There are some independent convenience stores that use the word Kymppi or number 10 in their business name, which is reminiscent of a former large convenience store chain called 10-Kioski, which vanished around the early 2000s.

This allows traditional markets to continue selling local goods, but also greatly lowers the opportunities for profit by those who seek to build or own a convenience store by reducing the eligibility of property to be developed into a convenience store.

Boasting more than 10,000 convenience stores in an area of 35,980 km2 and a population of 23 million, Taiwan has Asia Pacific’s and perhaps the world’s highest density of convenience stores per person: one store per 2,500 people.

The first chain convenience store in the United States was opened in Dallas, Texas in 1927 by the Southland Ice Company, which eventually became 7-Eleven, the largest convenience store chain.

2021 Top 111 Convenience Store Chains

This list from CStore Decisions ranks the 111 largest convenience store chains in the U.S. According to the National Association of Convenience Stores, there are 150,274 convenience stores operating in the U.S., a 1.6% decrease in the number of stores in operation at the close of 2019, according to the 2021 NACS/Nielsen Convenience Industry Store Count.

The industry decline was led by a 3.1% decrease in single-store operators, which account for 61.4% of all convenience stores.

The decrease in the industry store count was more pronounced among stores that did not sell fuel.

Convenience stores sell an estimated 80% of the fuel purchased in the country, and the new store count shows that 121,538 convenience stores sell motor fuels, a slight 0.4% drop from 121,998 stores selling fuels the year prior.

Among the states, Texas continues to have the most convenience stores, or more than one in 10 stores in the country.

The CStore Decisions list of the top 111 Convenience Store chains is based on 2020 data and was complied by CStore Decisions editors through company surveys, interviews, website data and other data, including SEC filings for public companies.

As merger and acquisition activity continues to affect the industry, the list will be updated to reflect chain store counts.

What Is IPTV? Beginner’S Guide To Live Television

What is IPTV? This complete guide answers this question and covers everything you need to know about live television.

IPTV providers are usually available as stand-alone apps that work best on inexpensive Android-based streaming devices such as Amazon Fire TV Stick, Android TV Boxes, or any IPTV Box.

LEGAL DISCLAIMER: IPTV WIRE does not own or operate any IPTV service or streaming application.

It’s important to discuss the basics of IPTV. As mentioned previously, IPTV is the acronym for Internet Protocol Television.

IPTV Wire has classified IPTV services into two different categories – Verified and Unverified.

This IPTV guide wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the important IPTV players and their functionalities.

IPTV Smarters Pro is one of the most popular live tv applications that works with nearly any IPTV service you prefer.

The Centre For Internet And Society

IPTV. What is IP TV?IP TV stands for Internet Protocol Television, i.e., television that is delivered to the house over an IP Network, rather than over traditional satellite, cable or terrestrial networks.

The IP network used for delivery of IPTV is built specially to deliver this service and hence has performance and security features required to build a reliable service which customers will pay for.

IPTV is usually provided by fixed network providers who already deliver voice and internet services to the last mile, and have control over the network from the head end up to the customer premise.

IPTV is typically richer with features like gaming, time shift television and Video on Demand, apart from live TV. More on these features are described in the FAQ. HistoryThe term IPTV first appeared in 1995 with the founding of Precept Software.

Kingston Communications, a regional telecommunications operator in the UK, launched KIT, an IPTV over DSL broadband interactive TV service in September 1999.

IPTV viewing on the PC. Viewing IPTV content on a Personal Computer usually requires a client which allows protected content to be viewed, and to provide a TV like view with programming guides, etc.

In India, IPTV services are provided by Bharti Airtel in Delhi and Bangalore, as well as by BSNL and MTNL and Smart TV group or Long Term Evolution.

Best Free & Paid Live TV Services For Firestick/Android

The following services are verified, legal IPTV Services.

All of these providers can also be found within our lists of Best Free TV Apps and Legal IPTV Services.

Due to the fact that TROYPOINT has no way to determine whether these services carry the proper licensing, we call them unverified services.

Free IPTV Services usually come with annoying ads or quality is only SD and unreliable.

What Is IPTV And How Does It Work?

IPTV is a service that provides television programming and other video content using the Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol suite, as opposed to broadcast TV, cable TV or satellite signals.

An IPTV service, typically distributed by a service provider, delivers live TV programs or on-demand video content via IP networks.

An IPTV system may be used to provide video content over a private network in an enterprise, although such implementations are far less common than subscriber-based models due to the complexity, network latency and scaling issues.

Because IPTV uses a packet-based delivery system, it can be bundled with other IP-based telecommunication services, such as voice over IP and high-speed internet.

IPTV providers include a wide range of companies from large network operators, like Verizon with its FiOS video services, and major companies, such as Netflix, Google, Apple and Microsoft, to Sony, which also offers video streaming services via smart TV sets and internet-enabled devices, and AT&T. Additional examples of major IPTV providers include Roku, Hulu and YouTube.

What Is IPTV ? Tripleplay IPTV & Digital Signage

In contrast to video over the public Internet, with IPTV deployments, network security and performance are tightly managed to ensure a professional experience, resulting in a compelling business environment for content providers, advertisers and customers alike.

Tripleplay’s TripleTV IPTV headend and management platform is a secure, enterprise grade solution for the delivery of high quality live and recorded video feeds across an IP network within any business, organisation or venue.

Our IPTV systems integrate seamlessly with our TripleSign Digital Signage solution, allowing simultaneous delivery of both live streams for communications and advertising.

Initial production of the Lithium Manganese Oxide battery LMO was based on a manganese spinel cathode, with batteries formed from laminated cells.

In 2010 the Nissan Leaf electric vehicle began production, using batteries from AESC. In 2014 AESC was the second largest electric vehicle battery manufacturer worldwide, with 21% of the market.

In late 2014 Reuters reported conflict within the Nissan / Renault carmaker alliance over sourcing of battery packs for its Nissan Motor Manufacturing UK and Nissan Smyrna Assembly Plant car battery plants due to lack of price competitiveness with rival cell manufacturer LG Chem – Nissan was reported to have signed contracts to take all of NEC’s electrode production, irrespective of sales.

In December, 2016 Carlos Ghosn explains that being tied to internal battery manufacturing does not allow for the flexibility of buying cheaper third party batteries.

Nissan Close To Exiting Battery Business, AESC To Be Sold For $1 Billion

Over the past few years, we have seen Nissan push further and further away from building all its own batteries, instead talking up the fact it will procure cells where and when it makes the most sense.

Nissan currently owns 51% of the AESC. Remaining 49% belongs to NEC Corp. “GSR Capital sees value in building an independent battery supplier to multiple automakers and is considering moving some of AESC’s manufacturing to Hubei, the people said. The central Chinese province – home to the Three Gorges Dam and the nation’s second-largest carmaker, Dongfeng Motor Group Co. – recently earmarked 547 billion yuan for investments in areas like clean energy to modernize its economy.”

“China is planning to manufacture batteries in the country as they encourage use of electric vehicles and AESC would be a perfect target as it has good battery technology.””.

As for who would be picking up some of the slack for future battery production in cars like the next generation LEAF if Nissan in indeed out of the business?

“We have opened to competition our battery business in order to make sure we have the best batteries.

What prompted the change of heart for Nissan? The entire industry has been scrambling since LG Chem introduced and started taking orders for its $145/kWh battery cells in early 2015.

The carmaker intends to exit operations employing existing lithium-ion battery technologies, while continuing research and development of next-generation batteries made with new materials.

Post Idea #31: Value-added service

Related Articles – Summarized

What Are Value Added Services?

Value added services are often introduced to customers after they have purchased the core services around which these ancillary offerings are built.

The actual pricing structure for a value added service usually depends on whether the provider sees the service as an amenity that is intended to create a stronger rapport with customers or as a source of additional revenue.

One of the easiest ways for one to understand the concept of value added services is to look at the nature of audio teleconferencing services.

With audio conferencing, value added services such as an operator-conducted question-and-answer session, polling services and the ability for the moderator of the meeting to initiate a sub-conference with specific attendees are routinely offered.

It is not unusual for other types of businesses to offer some types of value added services to stand out from the competition.

Pesticide services might give their customers free inspections at specific intervals in exchange for contracting their services for a certain number of years.

Value added services provide advantages for both the customers and the service providers.

What Is Value Added Services

Value Added Services are also called premium services.

Many logistics service companies do not restrict themselves to transporting goods, but offer their customers services like picking, packing and quality control.

The shipment with an On Board Courier by airmates is a Value Added Service as well.

Value Added Services are usually exactly tailored to the wishes and needs of the customer.

The whole supply chain can be optimized by Value Added Services.

Value Added Services can be booked on top of a basic service in a modular way.

For the service provider in logistics that means highly specialized offers, like offering a cold chain for frozen products.

What Are Value Added Services? Which Services Can Be Offered?

Value-added services are additional services that are not part of a provider’s actual activities but add value to the existing offering.

If the relevant service is offered by very few competitors on the market, value-added services are naturally the best way to stand out from the pool of competitors.

The above definition of value-added services already makes it clear that it is not so easy to distinguish VAS from conventional services.

Unique value-added services are all those services that cannot be easily copied by competitors, because a great deal of know-how about data of the serviced primary product must be available in order to be able to offer them.

In the technical customer service of mechanical engineering companies, VAS can, for example, consist of on-site trainings at the machine consulting services or comprehensive Service contracts Data-driven services in particular offer an excellent opportunity to impress customers.

Examples are the implementation of projects from the area of predictive maintenance or the frequently discussed smart services that create added value for customers on the basis of interpreted data.

In logistics, value-added services can often consist of various packaging services that do not actually correspond to the core business of a freight forwarder.

Value Added Services In Logistics And Warehousing

Value-added services in logistics allow businesses to provide more comprehensive benefits, which has become an essential tool in increasing customer satisfaction.

The term value-added services refer to the additional distribution and warehousing services offered by third-party logistics providers to business looking to outsource their supply chain operations.

Value-added logistics services are not only for customers but also for management.

You can find several positive reasons to consider a 3PL provider for value-added logistics services.

Partnering with a 3PL provider’s value-added services enables the seller or company to work with one partner for all their logistics needs.

Order fulfillment services provide the highest customer satisfaction among all the value-added services, and it is one of the top value-added services in logistics.

A significant benefit of customizing value-added services is an improvement of the supply chain by finding discrepancies in the process and taking corrective measures to improve them, so you can focus on customer satisfaction by providing optimum services.

Examples Of Value-Added Service

A value-added service or VAS is a type of non-core service or feature provided for free or little cost when a consumer purchases a product or service.

The specific goal of a value-added service is to promote the primary business or core product and attract consumers, thus serving as an example of sales promotion tactic, as well as to define further the unique selling proposition or differentiation of the business or its brand and product, thereby serving as a part of promotion in marketing.

Consider the different examples of value-added services below.

In the mobile telecommunication industry, examples of freebies included in certain voice and data plans are unlimited text messaging or free specified amount of data, free Internet access to specific websites or online-enabled app services such as streaming services, and online gaming, among others.

A prime example of an auxiliary service is the free delivery service provided by some restaurants or free shipping from electronic companies.

Customers of mobile network and Internet service providers have free access to round-the-clock customer support via multiple mediums.

A customer loyalty program is one of the notable examples of after-sales service.

What Is Value Added Service?

VAS. What is this exactly? Value Added Service is a process that occurs in the warehouse where the operators perform an additional activity to the inventory before they leave the warehouse.

Below are some 3D images of the VAS area in 2 of the warehouses.

Warehouse A. Warehouse A shows the scanning, labelling, packing of items for dispatch.

You will notice the VAS area normally does not require a huge area.

From a cost benefit analysis, the VAS process is a critical area that contribute substantially to the profit of the operations.

VAS is an area that requires a lot more manpower compared to other processes due to the complexity of the work.

Warehouse B. Warehouse B depicts the work done to open up cartons and performing batching/ partialling of the eaches into small quantity.

Salmonella can be spread by food handlers who do not wash their hands and/or the surfaces and tools they use between food preparation steps, and when people eat raw or undercooked foods.

People who have direct contact with certain animals, including poultry and reptiles, can spread the bacteria from the animals to food if they do not practice proper hand washing hygiene before handling food.

Pets can also spread the bacteria within the home environment if they eat food contaminated with Salmonella.

Past U.S. outbreaks of salmonellosis have been associated with meat products, poultry products, raw or undercooked eggs and dough, dairy products, fruits, leafy greens, raw sprouts, fresh vegetables, nut butters and spreads, pet foods and treats.

Wash the inside walls and shelves of the refrigerator, cutting boards and countertops, and utensils that may have contacted contaminated foods; then sanitize them with a solution of one tablespoon of chlorine bleach to one gallon of hot water; dry with a clean cloth or paper towel that has not been previously used.

People with pets should take special care to avoid cross-contamination when preparing their pet’s food.

Be sure to pick up and thoroughly wash food dishes as soon as pets are done eating, and prevent children, the elderly, and any other people with weak immune systems from handling or being exposed to the food or pets that have eaten potentially contaminated food.

Salmonellosis is a symptomatic infection caused by bacteria of the Salmonella type.

There are two species of Salmonella: Salmonella bongori and Salmonella enterica with many subspecies.

Typhoid fever occurs when Salmonella bacteria enter the lymphatic system and cause a systemic form of salmonellosis.

Though Salmonella infection is frequently the cause of osteomyelitis in people with sickle-cell, it is not the most common cause, which is Staphylococcus infection.

The country eradicated salmonella without vaccines and antibiotics by focusing on eliminating the infection from “Breeder stocks”, implementing various measures to prevent infection, and taking a zero-tolerance policy towards salmonella in chickens.

The United States has struggled to control salmonella infections, with the rate of infection rising from 2001 to 2011.

An outbreak of salmonellosis started in Northern Europe in July 2012, caused by Salmonella thompson.

In MMWR year 2018, cases of Salmonella should be classified into three different conditions, for submission to the NNDSS: 1) Salmonellosis, 2) Paratyphoid fever, and 3) Typhoid fever.

These condition name changes were made to accommodate the Foodborne and Diarrheal Diseases Message Mapping Guide.

Beginning in MMWR year 2019, Salmonella cases should be classified as: 1) Salmonella Typhi infection, 2) Salmonella Paratyphi infection, and 3) Salmonellosis.

Salmonella Infection

Salmonella infection is a common bacterial disease that affects the intestinal tract.

Typically, people with salmonella infection have no symptoms.

In some cases, the diarrhea associated with salmonella infection can be so dehydrating as to require prompt medical attention.

Your risk of acquiring salmonella infection is higher if you travel to countries with poor sanitation.

Salmonella infection is usually caused by eating raw or undercooked meat, poultry, eggs or egg products.

Factors that may increase your risk of salmonella infection include activities that may bring you into closer contact with salmonella bacteria and health problems that may weaken your resistance to infection in general.

Salmonella infection usually isn’t life-threatening.

Medical Microbiology

Salmonellosis ranges clinically from the common Salmonella gastroenteritis to enteric fevers which are life-threatening febrile systemic illness requiring prompt antibiotic therapy.

The septicemic form of salmonella infection can be an intermediate stage of infection in which the patient is not experiencing intestinal symptoms and the bacteria cannot be isolated from fecal specimens.

The severity of the infection and whether it remains localized in the intestine or disseminates to the bloodstream may depend on the resistance of the patient and the virulence of the Salmonella isolate.

Most serovars are killed promptly in extraintestinal sites, and the most common human Salmonella infection, gastroenteritis, remains confined to the intestine.

In AIDS, Salmonella infection is common, frequently persistent and bacteremic, and often resistant to even prolonged antibiotic treatment.

Plasmid DNA fingerprinting and bacteria phage lysotyping of Salmonella isolates are powerful epidemiologic tools for studying outbreaks of salmonellosis and tracing the spread of the organisms in the environment.

Antibiotics are not recommended for uncomplicated Salmonella gastroenteritis because they do not shorten the illness and they significantly prolong the fecal excretion of the organisms and increase the number of antibiotic-resistant strains.

Salmonellosis What is Salmonellosis? Salmonellosis or Salmonella infection is caused b the bacteria Salmonella.

Transmission usually occurs by ingesting the bacteria in food produced from infected animals or food contaminated by feces of an infected animal or person.

What are the common symptoms? There are usually 36 hours after infection until the onset of illness.

Uncooked meat should be kept separate from produce, cooked foods, and ready-to-eat foods.

Restaurant workers who have salmonellosis should not prepare food for others until they have been shown to be free of the bacterium.

What are the symptoms in pets? Many animals do not show any signs of infection.

How are infections treated? Salmonella infections usually resolve in five to seven days and often do not require treatment unless the patient becomes severely dehydrated or the infection spreads from the intestines.

Salmonella: Causes, Symptoms, Complications, Treatment, And Prevention

Salmonella is the type of bacteria that’s the most frequently reported cause of food-related illness in the United States.

When people mention food poisoning, they’re usually talking about salmonella.

Salmonella is more common in places with poor sanitation.

Antacids lower how much acid is in your stomach, which makes it easier for salmonella to survive there.

Most of the signs and symptoms of a salmonella infection are stomach-related.

A few people who get a salmonella infection also get pain in their joints.

If your doctor confirms that you have a salmonella infection, they might prescribe antibiotics.

vC vvco = cos θvco In other “Words”: d θvco = ωvco = f Thus, if control voltage vC is a constant with respect to time, the oscillator frequency will likewise be a constant-the oscillator will produce a “Pure” tone of the form: vvco = cos Conversely, if the control voltage is time-varying, the oscillator frequency will also change with respect to time.

Doc 2/4 Ideally, the relationship between control voltage vC and oscillator frequency ωvco is very simple; easily expressed as a first-order polynomial: ωvco = f = Kv vC + ω0 where constant Kv obviously has units of radians/ sec ⋅volt , sometime expressed as 2π Hz/volt.

The control voltage will change as a function of time (i.e., vC ), and so the VCO output frequency will likewise: Jim Stiles ωvco = Kv vC + ω0 The Univ.

Doc 3/4 Q: What then is the VCO output signal vvco = cos θvco ??? A: Remember, the frequency function ωvco is the time derivative of the phase function θvco.

So to determine θvco , we must integrate ωvco ! t θvco = ωvco dt 0 t = Kv ∫vC dt + ω0t + θ0 0 Thus, the relationship between two of the four important PLL parameters has been established.

The phase function θvco is determined by integrating control voltage vC. Typically, this relationship is mathematically described using the Laplace Transform! θvco = L ⎡⎣θvco⎤⎦ = θvco e −s t dt 0 Of course, it is now obvious to you that: θvco = Kv vC + 20 + 0 s s s Now, to simplify the math a bit, most PLL mathematics ignore the last two terms of the expression above.

We can state that the VCO is mathematically described as: θvco = vC Jim Stiles Kv v s C Kv s The Univ.

Voltage-Controlled Oscillator

A voltage-controlled oscillator is an electronic oscillator whose oscillation frequency is controlled by a voltage input.

A voltage-controlled capacitor is one method of making an LC oscillator vary its frequency in response to a control voltage.

Any reverse-biased semiconductor diode displays a measure of voltage-dependent capacitance and can be used to change the frequency of an oscillator by varying a control voltage applied to the diode.

The frequency of a voltage-controlled crystal oscillator can be varied a few tens of parts per million over a control voltage range of typically 0 to 3 volts, because the high Q factor of the crystals allows frequency control over only a small range of frequencies.

A smaller range of voltage control then suffices to stabilize the oscillator frequency in applications where temperature varies, such as heat buildup inside a transmitter.

Placing the oscillator in a crystal oven at a constant but higher-than-ambient temperature is another way to stabilize oscillator frequency.

A digitally controlled oscillator based on a frequency synthesizer may serve as a digital alternative to analog voltage controlled oscillator circuits.

Voltage Controlled Oscillator: Basics, Design, Working Principle & Types

A Voltage Controlled Oscillator is an oscillator which produces oscillating signals with variable frequency.

For now you can imagine a Voltage Controlled Oscillator to be a black box which takes in Voltage of variable magnitude and produces an output signal of variable frequency, and the frequency of the output signal is directly proportional to the magnitude of the input voltage.

In a RC oscillator the frequency of the output wave depends on the value of the capacitor used in the circuit, since the frequency is given by the formulae.

So now to control the output frequency and to make it work as a VCO we have to vary the capacitance of the Capacitor based on the value of the Input voltage.

Then under normal operating condition a nominal voltage provided to the VCO for which a nominal Frequency is produced by the VCO. As the input voltage is increased the output frequency increases and the vice versa is also possible.

Vss is the supply voltage and Vc is the control voltage applied to pin 5 based on whose magnitude the output frequency is controlled.

Then this voltage signal is provided to a VCO which as we already know varies the output frequency based on the voltage signal provided.

Voltage Controlled Oscillators

ADI offers a broad portfolio of Voltage Controlled Oscillators with excellent phase noise performance, options for wideband, and multiple choices including VCOs with output drivers and VCOs with single output to meet small size and low power requirements.

These VCOs are used in a range of applications in the communications, military, industrial and healthcare markets.

As the electronics industry is always seeking for accurate and cheaper frequency sources that can be integrated in the increasing demand of front-end systems, our project aims to develop a design that has wideband linear tuning while being inexpensive compared to a comparable VCO. The project consists of theoretical research, design, and analysis of an oscillator configuration that can be tuned to various center frequencies within the operating range of 1.56 to 1.96 GHz. The design approach relies on computer simulations, using Keysight’s Advanced Design System software.
