As has been the case for several years, Genesis used the New York International Auto Show to once again tease us with a stunning new concept car, the Genesis X Speedium Coupe.

The concept car was revealed off-site at Genesis House New York, a cultural space in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District.

Genesis previously indicated a battery-electric car will launch well before mid-decade.

Hyundai chief designer Luc Donckerwolke has resigned effective immediately, Automotive News and other publications are reporting today.

Donckerwolke had been with Hyundai and Genesis since 2016 and is credited with a radical shift in design.

He became chief design officer of Hyundai Motor Group, including Hyundai, Genesis, and Kia, in 2018.No reason for the departure was given.

In a surprise move, Luc Donckerwolke, 54, has left the Hyundai Group, where he oversaw global design activities.

He had joined Hyundai and Genesis in January 2016 and took over as global design chief for all brands, including Kia, in October 2018, succeeding Peter Schreyer in this position.

In Sant’Agata Bolognese, Donckerwolke worked on the final iterations of the Diablo and the Gallardo; the Murciélago, probably the purest Lamborghini ever built, is 100 percent a Donckerwolke design.

Dairy Queen announced that they’re rolling back the price of its small, soft-serve ice cream cones to 75 cents per cone for all of its available flavors.

The DQ ice cream cones come in three flavors: plain vanilla for all of us basic bastards and bitches, chocolate-dipped vanilla and the new fruity blast flavor announced last week on the Twitter page for DQ’s Texas chain.

The owner of Smitty’s Grill near Texas A&M University, Omar Smith, installed a soft-serve ice cream machine in his cafe and it became a big hit.

Two years later, the Dairy Queen chain offered Smith a chance to turn his entire operation into a Dairy Queen restaurant.

According a book by by Anne Cooper Funderburg, Chocolate, Strawberry and Vanilla: A History of American Ice Cream, Sherb Noble and J.F. McCullough developed the first recipe for soft-serve ice cream in 1938 and tested the product with an “All you can eat” ice cream event at a shop in Kankakee, Illinois.

The menu only offered ice cream items in pints, quarts and sundaes as well as cones that cost a nickel for a triple-decker serving.

Royal Address: Former Burger King To Become Dairy Queen In Marshall Township

MARSHALL TWP. – Township officials have confirmed a Dairy Queen is planned along Michigan Avenue, occupying a vacant site formerly home to Burger King.

The Marshall Township Planning Commission unanimously approved a special use permit and site plan for the restaurant April 5.

“Marshall Township is pleased to have a vacant building refurbished and put back into a viable commercial property,” township Zoning Administrator Paul Anderson said.

“Today’s Dairy Queen is more than an ice cream store, and the township looks forward to its opening.”

The Marshall Township restaurant will join nearby Dairy Queen locations in Battle Creek, Charlotte and Coldwater.

There are 157 Dairy Queen locations in Michigan, according to the company’s website.

Dairy Queen is getting ready for summer earlier than ever with a brand new drink made for sipping poolside on a hot day.

The new Poolside Punch Twisty Misty Slush features ice-cold layers of blue raspberry and pink punch flavors twisted together, which DQ says tastes like summer in a cup and can transport you to a tropical cabana or poolside resort regardless of where you’ll be spending your summer.

Dairy Queen doesn’t say how long the new drink will be on the menu, but it’s safe to say it will be sticking around at least into the summer.

While the Poolside Punch Twisty Misty Slush is clearly made for summer, it’s actually on Dairy Queen’s new spring menu, which also includes a S’mores Shake and new dipped cone flavor.

The S’mores Shake is made with marshmallow, graham and chocolatey shavings blended with DQ’s vanilla soft serve, while the new Fruity Blast Dipped Cone is a creamy vanilla soft-serve cone dipped in a light purple coating that’s flavored like fruity cereal.

While they’re obviously known for their desserts, DQ also has a pretty extensive food menu, including a new line of burgers to pair with your ice cream treats this summer.

The new Signature Stackburgers come in five flavor varieties as one-third pound doubles and one-half pound triples.

(d) Slot machine prototypes, table game prototypes, table game device prototypes, interactive game and platform prototypes, sports wagering device prototypes, video gaming terminal prototypes and all associated equipment prototypes, and modifications thereto, which are subject to testing and approval under this section will be evaluated by the Bureau of Gaming Laboratory Operations for overall operational integrity and compliance with the act, this subpart and technical standards adopted by the Board as published in the Pennsylvania Bulletin and posted on the Board’s web site.

(m) A licensee shall immediately notify the Bureau of Gaming Laboratory Operations and the casino compliance representatives at the licensed facility, the Bureau of Gaming Operations for interactive gaming, the Office of Sports Wagering Operations or the Bureau of Casino Compliance for video gaming of any known or suspected defect or malfunction in any slot machine, table game, table game device, interactive game, sports wagering device, video gaming terminal or any associated equipment installed in its licensed facility or on its interactive gaming website or mobile application.

(c) Manufacturers of slot machines, table games, table game devices, interactive games, sports wagering devices, video gaming terminals and all associated equipment or gaming related gaming services providers shall be responsible for all costs incurred by the Board in reviewing the report issued by the private testing and certification facility and approving the slot machine, table game, table game device, interactive game, sports wagering device, video gaming terminal or any associated equipment.

(r) A private testing and certification facility employee who was employed by, or performed any work for, a manufacturer or gaming related gaming service provider licensed by the Board within 1 year prior to the person’s date of employment with the private testing and certification facility may not inspect or certify a slot machine, table game, table game device, interactive game, sports wagering device, video gaming terminal and all associated equipment for use in a licensed facility, with which the person had any involvement whatsoever while employed by the manufacturer or gaming related gaming service provider.

Wawa Plans To Double Its Store Count By 2030 By Focusing On Markets In The South

Wawa plans to nearly double its store count to 1,800 locations by 2030, CEO Chris Gheysens told the Philadelphia Business Journal.

He characterized the plan as “The most aggressive growth” in the chain’s history, saying the expansion will include “Traditional” neighborhood stores and “Non-traditional” rest-stop style formats in both existing and new markets.

The chain debuted the concept in December 2020 in Westhampton, New Jersey, where a drive-thru was added to an existing store.

The expansion will include 300 stores in the chain’s existing territory, but Wawa also plans to “Fill in the market” between Virginia and Florida, Gheysens said.

Wawa is expected to open its first store in North Carolina in 2024.

Convenience Store Sales Return To Pre-Pandemic Levels

Convenience stores in the U.S. overcame a decline in store count and a pandemic-related dip in transactions to post record sales last year, according to NACS. Total in-store sales increased to a record $277.9 billion in 2021, according to newly released NACS State of the Industry data.

“Customers [are] continuing to rely on their local convenience store to fulfill their shopping needs,” the association said.

The record sales came despite a 1.5% decline in the number of convenience stores, which totaled 148,026 stores at the start of 2022.

NACS did not break out food and beverage sales, which traditionally are a huge percentage of the total.

The average in-store basket size increased 6.3% in 2021 to $7.59 and has grown 22.4% over the past two years, making up for a 6.9% decrease in in-store transactions since 2019.

Trio Wanted In Over A Dozen NW Side Convenience Store Robberies

Police are alerting Northwest Side business owners after more than a dozen convenience stores were robbed at gunpoint by as many as three men since February.

In each robbery, someone armed with a handgun enters the store and takes money, liquor and cigarettes by force, Chicago police detectives said in a community alert.

In one case, a man struck the victim in the face with a handgun for trying to press a hold-up alarm, police said.

Police asked anyone with information to call Area Five detectives at 746-7394.

Fort Worth Convenience Store Shooting: 3 Injured At Pink Store

FORT WORTH, Texas – Three people were shot inside a Fort Worth convenience store Thursday afternoon, the second convenience store shooting within 24 hours in the city, police told WFAA. Police were sent to 1701 South Riverside, an address for the convenience store known as the Pink Store.

Investigators with the department told WFAA that three people were shot inside.

A spokesperson for the department told WFAA that it’s not clear if the shooting was a robbery.

Thursday’s shooting was the second convenience store shooting the city has seen within 24 hours.

Two people were shot and are expected to be OK. The location is roughly one mile from the Pink Store.

Fort Worth Police Chief Neil Noakes has promised to reduce violent crime by 10% within one year.

A department spokesperson said the drive-by shooting on Bessie was within a hot spot, but said Thursday’s shooting wasn’t.
